On a hunt for the right plants to populate an area of my yard left a dusty, sometimes muddy, mess from having a small tree removed, I stopped by Campbell Road Nursery. I was completely won over by the staff in this small, family-run business. Although I like to browse through nurseries, I also appreciate being able to find help when I need it. The sharp-eyed employee found me first; obviously watching me meander down the aisles of plants looking bewildered, and offered to help in a much-appreciated low-pressure way. After explaining what I was looking for, she took me to some plants I had overlooked that were ideal for what I needed. In fact, she took quite a bit of time showing me several other bushes all the while explaining what I could expect for growth, feeding, and care for each. Then she left me alone to decide, and wander a bit more. What struck me nearly as much as the helpful staff, was the healthy-looking plants and bushes. It can be a hit-or-miss proposition at some places when it comes to paying for a healthy plant. Although a tad more expensive than other local nurseries, Campbell's price difference for the quality you get, is worth it. On the day I was there, they were having an unadvertised sale; an added bonus. There's also a small vegetable market at Campbell, stocked from a local farm, an oddly appropriate side business in the middle of the main nursery. Oh, and my plants look great. Campbell's, although small, certainly packs a positive punch.

They are a great nursery. I love their sales they have throughout the yr. I recently picked up flats of perennials for $10/ flat.

Super friendly and helpful staff. I purchased a fiddle leaf there almost a year ago and it's still growing strong.

I was looking for a mini cacti garden and was given many options from a mixed succulent and cacti garden to a simple potted cacti plant. They have plenty of affordable selections that you can build your own mini indoor garden for around $25 to $30. The pre-made mini pots were even more affordable from $12 to $20. If you don't know what you want, go to the greenhouse and get educated. They will help you out so much.

Plus we noticed several employees throughout the center helping customers and answering questions. Most of the plants were labeled with the name, price, and care instructions. The center seems very organized and makes it easy to find a plant suitable for your yard/home. They even have an online map on the website. Fairview has indoor and outdoor areas. If you visit on a sunny day I recommend bringing a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. In addition to plants, they sell gardening supplies and have a play area for kids. Per the website, they offer delivery and installation, and host events. Overall, seems like a decent garden center and I look forward to returning.

I spent about a half hour, but could have spent more, perusing the late season plants and arrangements. Despite the cold weather, the late season plants held up really well. I saw a white potted kale plant that would be a pretty accent piece in an arrangement. I kept returning to look at it, wondering if it was meant for eating or decoration, and decided decoration. Definitely decoration. Some of the pre-potted arrangements were cute in their burlap wrapped pots. Very creative and yet very simple. The plants were well marked and prices easy to find. What I noticed right away was how reasonably priced things were. I can't believe I've never stopped here before. I've driven by it lots of times and have seen it overflowing with plants and vegetables and people and cars. Now I know why. Salem Garden can accommodate the do-it-yourself gardeners and those who prefer others to handle the garden maintenance and landscaping. There's a small house on the property holding gifts such as candles from beeswax and soy as well as bags made from recycled plastic shopping bags and some jewelry and artwork. The hours vary by season but if you see something you absolutely must have, the owners have thoughtfully left instructions on the front door on how you can get what you need. Because there are always those who take advantage, you'll have to stop by and see for yourself how they accomplish it.

They're unorganized and messy, but man, is it fun to find a good bargain! Yes, there's more junk than useful items. However, they do carry lots of name brand items for cheap. I don't know why I buy from retailers at full price, Ollie's is where it's at!! From Yankee Candle to Olay and everything in between, you bet your bottom dollar that you're going home with something...and if you're not, you didn't spend enough time browsing. Here are just a few things I've gotten from Ollie's: a Stephen King graphic novel of The Dark Tower for less than $4, a secret Santa gift filled with journals, crayons, colored pencils, and two drawing pads (don't forget the gift bag, tissue paper, AND a card) for less than $15, Yankee candle melts for less than $2, a Yankee candle oil diffuser for less than $4, a large bag of brand-name veggie chips for less than $2, St. Ives body wash for less than $3, a Febreze car plug in for less than $1. I can go on and on. Ollie's has discounts and it's super easy to spend at least an hour here while you bargain shop. The staff here are very nice! There were two cashiers and one floor staff and they all greeted me nicely and were very friendly. Is Ollie's a disaster? Yes. Are the floors uneven and unfinished? YUP. Are you going to save money? Absolutely. It's chaotic good, my guys!
