I had so much fun visiting Smith's Nursery! My family and I stopped by for an Easter egg hunt sponsored by Isaiah 117 House, and it turned into such a fun outing. While we waited for the event to begin, we walked around the shop and loved seeing the beautiful variety of flowers with everything from potted plants and hanging baskets to herbs and vegetables you can take home and plant yourself. When we headed back outside, we noticed a huge strawberry field behind the store, plus an ice cream area serving fresh strawberry ice cream, which was such a sweet surprise. It made the whole experience even more special. Such a cute spot for families, especially during springtime! read more

Great little farm, it has everything in vegetables, fruits, eggs, milk. It does its own bakery, you can pick your own fruits & take a tour of farm. Plants of all sizes, well worth the time. read more

So many pumpkins, so little time. This little slice of heaven was meant to be a stop for soil and nothing else. I'm now 2 pumpkins, hot cider concentrate, boo bag gift for my house sitters, Georgie's dog treats, house cake I'm eating now, the soil, fresh bread, and a strawberry spread later. There are events, ice cream and let's face it, the out doors. Please, stop here and enjoy. The family running the store was kind, sweet, helpful and all the other nice business adjectives. Smith's Nursery is a wonderful family-owned business with great staff, fun pick-your-own fields in season and a beautiful selection of plants, shrubs and trees for your landscaping needs. They alsohave a small store with delicious ice cream, milk and other dairy products. I have been a regular customer since I bought my house nearby in 2004. I bought two magnolia trees and the gentleman graciously loaded them into his pickup and ran them up the road for me. At that time my newly-built home didn'teven have a yard yet. He gave me some design ideas and advice for planting my new trees and seeding my yard. Great people! Wonderful local business to support. Smiths Nursery is a fantastic place to bring your family!!!! We were visiting our family and were told to come here for the fresh ice cream and fall activity's. This place is perfect for the young ones, with animal feeding and photo ops. The shop has homemade soaps, snacks, honeys and fresh milk from the farm. The homemade ice cream was fantastic. I had been promising my youngest I would take him to pick strawberries one day. So today was the day! I wanted to bring him to Smith's because I remember coming here several years ago with my middle son for a class field trip and they had animals, hay rides etc. but I believe that may only be during the fall season. My son really had a great time! He actually said "I wish we would come to this place everyday!" Although the temperatures were scorching today it wasn't too bad for the short time we spent there. The staff was very friendly and even suggested areas that others had mentioned where good spots for berries. We stayed towards the front and we were not disappointed. They offer ice cream, milkshakes, iced coffee and other goodies in the building next to the main nursery. The main nursery has so much to look at and enjoy that I forgot to take pictures but you will definitely get the local homegrown experience here. As of right now the strawberries are weighed at 2.99 lb. They also have blueberries you can pick a few miles down the road. I didn't have the energy for that today so that may be another trip for another day. Definitely will return before the season is over. read more

I love this place. I had a bad knee and the staff drove me in their golf cart so my girls and I could see the animals. That was very helpful. Great atmosphere there too. I am definitely going back. They even told me they hope to have their hay rides open this fall. This place is a definitely must go place 100%. read more

Smith's attends the Western Wake Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings and they have some of the best produce around. I was not sure if tomatoes were in season yet (April) yet their tomatoes proved me wrong. I bought 4 tomatoes and they were plump , red and juicy. They were perfect on a BLT and flavorful enough to eat on their own. The strawberries are also perfect and the small containers sell for $5. It seems like a mother and son duo at the WWFM and they are extremely friendly and helpful. I look forward to going back next Saturday and thank you for bring your fresh produce all the way from Smithfield to the Western Wake market! read more

Smith's Nursery lady is not very nice. After doing business with her for years she informed me not to touch the strawberries without wearing gloves. I have not ever heard this & she was very rude. I was picking some of the most ripen ones out to make a pie because in her buckets she fills it mostly with ones that are not ready to be eaten. Being almost 72 years old & having over 22 surgeries I cannot pick them like I used to. She fixes the prettier ones & takes them to Atlantic Avenue Nursery in Raleigh. She did that last year while I was at the nursery in Raleigh & I bought two buckets & they were only $10. She charged more at her nursery ($15 I believe ). Also, she never gave you a bucket at her place. This is not good business to me. Why is she taking all the good ones & selling them cheaper there & Lord knows where else. I have over 20+ years buying produce & flowers from her. I will never go there again & I hope others that have supported her business will go to Porters or somewhere else. I'm a fan of any family-owned place, and this nursery is the epitome of this. The nursery has so many offerings, from berry picking during the summer and ice cream for the kids to hay rides in the fall and even field trips for school groups. The staff is very friendly and the Smith family are as knowledgeable as it gets. I love how passionate everyone here is about their work. Can be a little pricey, but you get your bang for your buck and support local business as well. read more
