After much online research, I found C&J Nursery in Angier, just south of Raleigh and a 40 minute drive for us. This is a great nursery run by a father and son, who built up their business themselves and truly an inspiring American Dream success story! Their plants are well organized in tidy weed-free rows. All the plants are healthy. They have a great variety of the shrubs and trees and had everything we were looking for. The son took us around and patiently helped me choose the best plants for my project. He knew the answers to all of my questions without even having to look on his phone. They are the real deal and a very nice family. It was a pleasure to buy from them. I forgot to mention that their prices are also great, so bring the biggest vehicle you have.

I opted to get that contractor to pick up the materials for me, to save a buck on the delivery fee, but apparently the contractor says that he did not pick up all of it as we didn't need all of it for the project, but when I talked to the store they said that my contractor in fact did pick up everything. They said Unfortunately this is more common than not, and they were generous enough to work with me to help get me a refund for what was allegedly not taken. Regardless of whatever the truth is, the fact of the matter is that Daniel and his team took care of me and helped educate me as well. I highly recommend this company, and I will be working with them for my future projects as well. Definitely worth the value, I thought the pricing was very reasonable for their products as well.

I ordered 75 yards of a 50/50 mix topsoil, which they claim is put through a 3/4" screen. Obviously, it's dirt, so you have to expect certain things like small rocks, clay clods, sticks, glass may get through. However, I spent nearly a week filling up close to 30+ qty wheel barrels full of hard clay clods. There were 1000's the size of large walnuts, hundreds the size of oranges, dozens the size of softballs, and even 1 the size of a watermelon. There is absolutely no way this was screened. I had ordered from them before, was bothered by their website, but was pleased with the delivery and the product the first time, which is why I proceeded this time. However, after this experience, I will never order from them again and offer a sincere buyers beware.

I swung by with a thimble-sized plant I'd bought from them a few weeks before. I was hoping to see…read moreif they had any advice on keeping the tiny guy happy, as he hadn't come with any care instructions. The shop assistant was friendly and offered to swap out the soil. I was buying a plastic pot and asked if she would do the same for a 4" jade plant I had in the car. When I went to pay, I was shocked that the bill came to $25. The repottings were $8 each! I've never heard of a plant store that wouldn't be willing to add a tablespoon of soil to their own plant, and usually if you're buying a pot, most places will put a plant in it for you. At a minimum, they should let you know the fees upfront instead of a breezy, misleading "I'm happy to switch out the soil if you'd like." I offered to buy a $17 bag of potting soil if they would comp the repotting fees, but they were adamant about the $16 needed to cover "materials and labor". In the end, the manager comped the tablespoon of soil added to the 2" plant (again: this plant was from their own shop). The shop assistant then removed the new soil from the jade plant, leaving the stems loosely dumped in the pot I bought from them. As a plant lover, I can't imagine doing this to a plant just to reclaim a cup of potting soil! Such a weird and unpleasant experience. [Hearing this story, nearby Copperline Plant Company repotted the jade for free, without my asking and even before I had purchased anything from them. Their policy is that anything that takes under five minutes to repot is free. Logan's Garden Shop said they'd be happy to repot a plant into a pot I'd bought from them. This has always been my experience, and I'm happy to see that it's still the norm at most places.] I did get a cute snake plant here on an earlier visit. The shop is laid out nicely for a fun browsing experience, and plants are healthy. Just know their repotting fees are steep!

Was told this has never happened before. Their resolution was $45 back to my credit card as a goodwill gesture or I can get another yard of dirt. They would not refund the order or come pick it up. They told me that I could only refuse the delivery before it was dumped, and once dumped they will not pick it back up. That policy does not help when the problem is inside the material and only becomes obvious once you start spreading or sifting it. I expected clean usable soil/compost mix, not a load I had to hand-sift for glass. Hope everyone else's 50/50 from here doesn't have glass. I purchased specific rocks from this company and later called to request that the rocks I had…read morealready purchased be shipped to my home. However, instead of receiving those, I was sent rocks from a previous order that I had already canceled. When I contacted them again, one representative told me that the correct rocks could be shipped to me, but that the incorrect rocks could not be returned. The following day, I called again and spoke with a different representative who stated that I was never told a replacement would be sent and that they would not have made such a promise. As a result, I have spent my money on the wrong product and am now unable to afford the correct rocks I originally ordered. They have so much business they didn't give a crap if they help me on not.
