This soccer complex is HUGE. Don't mistake it for the Patsy Mink Park in Waipio by Outback Steak House. This one you need to head to Waipahu and turn left by the school then keep going straight til your reach the fields. There's quite a bit of parking stalls but just depends on how many games are going on at that area you're headed to. Most of our games this time around are at 14 so just look for the signs. Luckily the few times we've come we didn't need to use the restrooms or even know where they are. Watch the weather. Might be a good idea to bring an umbrella to protect yourself from the harsh sun or intermittent drizzle. Feel for the kids who are playing in the rain like this past Saturday. Thoughtful coaches put up a tent for their players comfort during pep talks or water breaks. You might want to bring a collapsible chair if sitting on a goza(mat) or the ground is not for you. In that case you may need to invest in a rolling cart cuz you'll probably pack some bottled water and snacks too along with your chairs and umbrellas. Good chance to soak in some natural vitamin D and watch or cheer for your favorite player or team. read more

Five stars. A hugely immense park build primarily for soccer games for kids, up to adults. The soccer stadium is on these grounds and is built for the University of Hawai'i at Manoa men's and women's soccer teams or any semi-professional/professional leagues. The weather here is sunny for most of the year; however, some rain showers, on occasion or the heavy ocean squalls. But, great soccer weather nonetheless. The grass is always manicured well and green. The restrooms are mostly clean, but no doors to the toilet stalls (pro tip: use an opened umbrella facing forward for privacy). As a park, not really much other activities are available to do other than soccer. Soccer fills most of the available areas for the entire weekend. I seem to spend many of my waking hour at this park. I am here either coaching soccer, refereeing, helping with tournaments, or cheering on my children's soccer teams. My Pearl City AYSO duties take me here almost every Saturday during the soccer season. On Saturday and Sundays, I watch my daughter and her club team challenge a bunch of talented opponents multiple times throughout the year. There are many good things about this park and many bad things. The fields are pretty pristine for playing soccer and lines are well made and the goals are very good. The bad things is there are fire ant nests throughout the fields, the bathrooms are similar the prison bathrooms (no modesty barriers between stainless steel urinals, no doors to stalls, and stainless steel toilets with no seat), the bathrooms are constantly broken, and the fields are HOT and very little shade around the fields. The other good thing is that there is enough space near the fields to have potlucks and rest areas during tournaments and the stadium is nice for college and other soccer events. Overall, I am happy that we have a soccer complex in Hawaii but I feel City and County of Honolulu could improve the park more as it is highly used for kids' soccer and it could add income for events that bring mainland guests to the fields if the facilities were improved. read more

My kids really enjoy playing soccer on the Waipio Soccer Complex fields, but there's still lots to be desired. Sure, it's one of the best open spaces on Oahu for kids to run around and be, well, kids. The problems that bother me include: No bathrooms at convenient locations. Yes, they have permanent bathrooms at the soccer stadium, but AYSO games, it's temp toilets that are GOD AWFUL! The drive in...ewh! You have to turn at Waipahu High School and, until you get to the gate at the entrance to the complex, you must drive past more trash, more shopping carts, more broken-down rusty cars, and more homeless fishing at a dirty fishing hole than you can stomach. It makes me wonder what soccer visitors think about Hawaii when that's the approach to our beautiful soccer complex. No food. You'd think the City & County of Honolulu could easily solve this problem and allow food trucks, or build a permanent food stand, that place would make killer money on the weekends! It's a no-brainer!! No shade. Seriously, us old folks (yes, over 40 is starting to feel old) need shade so we can enjoy the games. Not everyone has a pop-up tent. Other than all my gripes, it really is great having a place to hang our soccer hats, so I'm not a hater...just a complainer! read more

Over the past 10 years I've visited this park sporadically to watch my brothers play soccer games. My most recent visit was such a proud big sis moment as my youngest brother played in the OIA championship game for Kapolei! This stadium has a nice layout and is very well kept. All fields I've visited are maintained with excellence! We arrived early and were able to watch more than one game and we moved around a few times but was still able to see everyone on the field very clearly. Although the bathrooms were out of order due to a water main break, there were portable bathrooms available and about an hour after we arrived the staff fixed the problem right up! Great job to the staff for working through it! The blockades and signage made it easy for us to make our way from the parking lot to the ticket office with no confusion or problems. For this particular event adult tickets were $7 and children $5. The concession stand had hot dogs, saimin, burgers, nachos, candies, etc... available for sale along with drinks including hot cocoa which was nice for such a chilly night. There's one thing I wish that could be changed but probably can't be helped... The one way in and one way out is a pain. Hundreds of cars exiting at the same time with only one lane available just means nothing but traffic. Then were all at the mercy of the traffic light at Kam Hwy by the high school. Slight inconvenience but it's what we do for the love of the games! read more

Headed out to Waipio to watch our little cousins play soccer in the Rainbow tournament. It's been a while since I'd been out there and was pleasantly surprised to see the improvements. My daughter played a lot of soccer since she was 8 all the way through high school so I spent a lot of time out there. The fields are nicely marked and they now have bathrooms close to the individual playing fields. We used to have to pack the girls into the soccer van and drive to the soccer stadium. The first time I drove here I was wondering if Google Maps was a little wonky...driving past a golf course and what looks like a boneyard of decommissioned ships and a gate that says "No Trespassing" had me feeling a little out of place. Once I saw the sign at the entrance of the Soccer Peninsula I was put at ease. The long road with it's speed bumps makes you take your time and enjoy the openness of all the fields. There are well placed signs to show you where to turn for the field(s) you need to be at to cheer on your soccer player(s). Bring your chairs, water, sunscreen and hats!!! There is no shade if you are sitting along the sidelines. There are a lot of parking stalls for each section of field. Even when there are weekend tournaments, there seems to have ample parking. The bathrooms for each set of field are well maintained and clean. I really do like the layout of the fields. Any field can be used as one/two fields at a time. The younger children can play on two halves of a regular field at the same time. This helps with getting games going faster and the children out of the sun quicker. I have not had a chance to watch a game in the stadium there but I do hope to one day. read more

What can I say, this place is right down the street from my house! Despite all of the construction going on, I have no complaints because I need things to be close to me in order for me to make it on time. The chosen area is definitely somewhere that doesn't rain out easily. It is often quite hot with very little trees for shade. But I'm not there for the shade, I'm there to play the game. As player, the fields are pretty well-maintained. A few potholes and uneven parts, rocks and dirt patches. But if you play soccer in Hawaii, its pretty much the norm. Parking is usually good, though this weekend was pretty bad with the college game that was being held in the stadium. It actually made me a little late for the game. The bathrooms can be a bit far, depending which field you are playing on, and it ain't the nicest facilities, however the WISA league always donates hand soap during Sunday games. Not sure if is available on Saturdays. There is a lot of flat, concrete pathways for little kids to play ride scooters and bikes on, and if your field is close enough to them, it is automatic entertainment. That, or the hills outside of the stadium can provide hours of fun for kids who aren't playing. Bring sunscreen, water and your pop-up tent! Happy soccer-ing! read more

I am an oddball in a family of soccer junkies. My brothers and my sister all played soccer from small kid time, my Dad would coach in one capacity or another, and even my Mother plays soccer. I played one season in the sixth grade and it was completely awful. We lost every single game and because I was the world's most awkward player. I went on to play other sports and do well in other things but I swore that I would never play soccer again! The irony of life is that my boyfriend grew up as a soccer junkie and one day I'm sure my daughter will follow in his footsteps. Oh Universe, your sense of humor never ceases to amaze me. My brother and my Mother still play soccer in different leagues and I often find myself at Waipio Soccer Complex at different times of the year. The fields are gorgeous and the infrastructure of parking and bathrooms are really great! I know that the kids playing here probably take the facility for granted but boy they are sure are lucky! In fact, we're all lucky that we life in Hawaii where we can enjoy the outdoors pretty much year round. First of all this place is nowhere near Waipio, as it should be called Waipahu Soccer Complex since it's....well in Waipahu. It's either really hot here or really wet, there's no in between. Over the years the quality of the pitch has declined but it's still the best place to hold multiple soccer games at the same time. I find this place out of the way for me as I live in town and the bathrooms here are limited. They need to have thought about that when building this place because the only bathrooms are the ones next to and in the stadium. There's a portable bathroom in the middle of the park but nothing at the ends which can be problematic if you're playing on the farther fields like #22. Otherwise....you have to turn to the bushes. The fields itself are very un-uniform meaning that some are bigger than others or wider than others. The stadium itself is as good as it gets. I've played soccer in college and the stadium field is right up there with some of the best. There's a ton of parking as well. I miss the days of games being at Kapiolani park. Sure the fields are flat and hard there but hey, it's in town, the bathrooms were close by and so was a lot of places to eat after. read more

I went here for the first time not for soccer but for an all day kickball tournament. The first thing that struck me when I arrived: this place is ginormous! If soccer games had been scheduled in addition to our tournament, it would have been chaotic parking as well as finding my team. There's just that many different fields. The grassy area where we played was in good condition. The field was adjacent to one of the permanent restrooms which was clean but didn't have paper towels. For those of you out there who are fitness junkies, there is a main soccer arena where you could do a scaled down version of the "stadium stairs" workout. So many still soccer fields! This complex has about 29 different fields and a soccer stadium. The gravel road leading up to the first parking lot needs some work, but on tournament weekends you can always be guaranteed to find a spot here. There's not a lot of shad so be sure to bring an umbrella to keep the sun off of you, especially is you're playing on one of the center fields. As for bathrooms, there are several "new" toilet facilities. My biggest complaint though, the stalls don't have doors! I walk to the facilities next to the stadium to ensure myself some privacy. read more

In fact, I'll give this place 4 1/2 stars. Our kids play soccer, so of course, we're here all the damn time. The funny thing is I used to go hacking at Makalena Golf Course nearby once a week in my younger days, and had no idea this spacious park existed. Crazy. What I like about is that it's so ginormously humangous!! To accommodate so many soccer games at the same time is amazing. Whenever I go to the mainland, I always marvel at how much land Americans have. It's crazy. Mountains as far as the eye can see. No ocean, though. On a smaller scale, that's how I feel when I come here. Anyway, to have that much open, clean space for play always leaves me in awe. I'm always wondering if at night it turns into a drug haven. Hope not. Fields are well-maintained and clean. Lots of parking (unless there's a tournament). Nobody living there and just hanging out like Blaisdell Park. Stadium for free Wahine soccer in the corner. I really don't mind going to this park at all. Only negative is that you gotta use those nasty portables to relieve yourself. No bathroom except near the stadium. Also, if I'm being nitpicky, not that much shade. Other than that, pretty damn perfect. Now, if we could just win EVERY SINGLE one of our soccer games. read more

As a player who grew up playing at Kapiolani Park, I have to say I miss Kapiolani a bit. Now days all my games are played at the Waipio Soccer Complex or CORP. The Waipio Soccer Complex is huge. I think there are close to 20 separate fields here, which are mostly full sized fields. The fields themselves are good. They are generally well maintained, no large holes, and usually mowed. There is going to be a large tournament here so they will be shutting down all fields to improve the field quality beforehand, so it should be even better after that. There is ample parking available. There are 4 separate lots, and a dirt lot. They could use more bathrooms. For one reason or another, the only 2 permanent bathrooms are next to the stadium and in the stadium. There are 2 additional porta-potty trailers, 1 in each parking lot in the left side. When one of these is out of order, it can be quite a walk to get to another one, but I'm not sure why they don't install permanent bathrooms on the left side of the park. read more

I've been here as a coach for AYSO tournaments, and as a parent for my son who has joined a HYSA team. The parking is great for practices, but during tournaments it's crazy! The cops gave my wife a ticket for parking on the grass, which I thought was uncool but whatever. The fields are well manicured. I've heard stories of homeless who live adjacent to Waipahu High coming in and using the bathrooms and stealing stuff, but I haven't seen any around. Overall a great place to play soccer!! The only reason this park gets 4 stars is because of the lack of bathrooms, which my husband already pointed out. That, and the lack of parking during tourneys. My son's HYSA team practices there, and the field is wonderfully manicured. His AYSO team also plays in tournaments there. There's always a ton of room. The fields are clean and obviously well taken care of, unlike Waiau District Park where my daughter practices. They are always adjusting to the grass, which is often left to grow past the girls' ankles. There's also something magical about the fields. For some reason, no matter what the weather's like outside the park, the park always has enough sun to play games. I don't know what's up with that. That must be the soccer gods exerting their influence. Lol. It's a great field, and I'd much rather attend games here than anywhere else. read more

I agree with all of the other reviews. I would give 5 stars if they had more restrooms and trees. THere needs to be more shady areas. I also wish they would keep their gates open later. I would be nice to hang out a little longer in the evenings, but I understand the staff need to leave. There are good and bad aspects of this city-run facility. The good points are 1) the stadium, 2) the number of fields, 3) it's all we've got. The bad points are many, but leading the list are 1) totally inadequate bathrooms - number and location, 2) declining quality of field conditions over time - inadequate maintenance budget and personnel. Compared to other city soccer facilities elsewhere, this one is about the worst I've seen, 3) non-ADA-compliant access to several heavily used fields (16, 18, 20, 22) - this is probably illegal in fact, as only physically robust people can actually get to those fields. Elderly, small children, and disabled people have no way to get to them at all, 4) very poor drainage on fields 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, and sometimes others if there has been heavy rain. read more
