When my son feels like his hitting is off or if he isn't getting as much reps during practice, he asks me to make an appt with Vern. Vern is extremely patient and comes up with innovative ways to get the kids to learn the correct mechanics. Not only has he helped my son improve his swing, but he taught him when and which balls to swing at and take. Coming here has really given him confidence at the plate. We also see Duane at 808 Kaneohe for pitching. Although my son isn't a pitcher, we see him for arm strengthening and to keep his arm healthy. We first went to Duane when my son moved over to the bigger field. In just a couple of lessons, he was able to make the throw from catcher to 2nd. The space is quite adequate as they do offer all the basic gym equipment, including parallel bars, high and low beams, a trampoline and a padded area where they do their floor routines amongst the many other things. They do offer a complimentary trial class, just be sure to give them a call first. When we first were inquiring, the friendly instructors were ok with us watching how the class is taught. They have a website that shows the different age groups and the times that are offered. They offer classes for children 20m and up. They don't hold classes on a friday. Classes are paid for on a monthly basis. Their is a sibling discount of $3 if you have more than one child. Classes are priced differently depending on how many classes you take a week, you can take up to 3 classes a week. Length of class varies depending on your age. For my two girls that are in the 7+ age group, their class is 75 min. long. Twice a year they have a movie night type of thing. They kids watched a movie against the big white wall, ate pizza, and then had brownie sundaes! It was a treat for the kids and we were able to drop them and pick them up when they were done. I think I finally found an activity that my kids enjoy. My kids love coming here and they like coming to practice everytime.

I am going to start off by saying that I have gym experience so this was not my first time at a…read moregym. Went for a trial class. My daughter enjoyed it. Came for her first real class.. instructors were reminded that this was her first class and zero experience. They gave her little to no instruction and basically made her follow classmates in front of her. It's not so bad for floor exercises but it was the same for beam and bars. There were 10 kids to one instructor and while she was very kind, she could not adequately watch all 9 and help my one. For a moment there were two.. but seeing as they knew it was my child's first practice, they should have taken the time to quickly teach her basics. She was allowed to go on the high balance beam, backwards and has never done it before. I could see the fear and confusion in my daughter's eyes before she went on. I understand wanting kids to learn partly on their own and to make their own mistake, but this was borderline dangerous. We paid for a month, but I'm not sure if it is worth my child's safety to go back. It's sad bc I followed them on IG and had high hopes and liked their small family business setting. And, I liked that their posts used Hawaiian words and values. That is something that stood out to me on their social media.

The only downside is that parking can suck depending if there's an event happening at the community center. The staff at Leahi is amazing. Ashley, who works the front desk almost always and helps with registration is amazing. She's so personable and treats everyone like family! She and the pool staff made accommodations to help my daughter feel comfortable during her first lessons without a parent. The staff in the pool has been amazing and accommodating. Kiki - who graduated HS and is no longer working there, really helped my daughter with her confidence and really helped her literally every step of the way. Sage was so fun and very enthusiastic! Ashley (in the pool) also helped my daughter gain confidence when my daughter was really swimming on her own. Koa is awesome and really makes you feel so welcomed too! I also do commend the owners as well. I was at the pool one day when there was a troubled parent/grand parent asking why her student couldn't move up levels. Even though this customer was clearly frustrated and maybe a little angry with the owner, the owner explained why so calmly that the requirements aren't just there just cause - it's for safety too!! Having enrolled my son here for multiple sessions, this experience fell far below basic expectations. Mismanaged Instruction & Staffing: Although the class was assigned two instructors, a single disruptive student monopolized the lead instructor's attention for the first several weeks. Consequently, the rest of the students were relegated to playing around with an assistant instructor rather than receiving structured instruction. Flawed & Missing Evaluations: The mid-session progress report evaluated students on deep-end skills during their very first couple weeks in deep water, making the assessment premature and inaccurate. Worse, no final progress report was ever provided at the end of the session, leaving us completely blindsided when told our son was recommended to repeat Beginner II. Moving Goalposts & Poor Administrative Support: When I called for clarification, the representative repeatedly backpedaled and changed their explanation. They ultimately claimed that opening eyes underwater without goggles was a mandatory passing requirement--a rule that was never communicated to parents, and one that contradicts what we observe in the next level up, where students routinely wear goggles. If promotion is strictly skill-based, the facility must ensure adequate staffing so high-need students do not drain instructional time from others. Parents deserve clear expectations, continuous updates, and actionable feedback--none of which were provided this session.
