Initially I heard of this from a Yelp event that I didn't end up going but I ended up signing up anyway! Thanks to Yelp and the CM for introducing this fun activity to some Yelp elites. Coach Javier and other coaches / assistant coaches are amazing! They're all very engaging and fun, and funny lol. I very much enjoy watching my son with the other chickenheads running around on the field! #iykyk I can't verify but another mom told me the coach and some if not all assistants are professional soccer players, so it's not like they just grab a random college kid and put them to coaching. We meet every Saturday at the Ma'ema'e school. There's another location toward east near Aina Haina. It's a nice big field that has occasional short showers but it's never heavy heavy rain, at least so far in the season. It's our first time so initially we didn't extend the season with the extra 5 lessons into December. But after seeing how our son enjoys it tremendously, extending is a no brainer! Good job coaches! The kids are happy to have you!

They treat all the kids fairly with no one getting left out. They encourage everyone to participate and if a child's attention is diverted from the activity then the coach calls the child by name and pulls them back in. Small colorful cones are set up to learn ball control. Larger nets are positioned for kids to kick the balls into. Coach creates fun games which are challenging but with a sense of lightness. The head coaches are clearly professionals and knowledgeable about the sport. At the end each child is gifted a small treat which makes it even better to top off a fun workout.

Only drawback...long waitlist sometimes up to a year. Gym offers camps which we tried and it's a fun day long option to help your kid work off that crazy energy. Kids love the freedom to learn to twist their bodies in acrobatic movements. The ability to fly through the air is pretty magical for a kid. Time spent to help them build confidence, coordination and flexibility is a plus in child development!

This lack of professional coaching is a safety hazard, because no spotting is provided as kids learn new skills. I have voiced this concern with no change or action from the gym. As a result, my daughter hurt her neck. We will not be coming back. There are many talented gymnasts at this gym. I'm not sure where they trained previously before joining, as the beginner lessons do not have adult supervision or coaching, so it's interesting how they progressed to their skill level. Act with caution before putting your beginner level child in their classes.

I brought my first year Mustang team to Hawaii Baseball Academy, as we had 4 players new to…read morebaseball and many were in their first year of the Mustang division. A good number of players were short arming their throws and didn't have the basics down. Hawaii Baseball Academy/Cory Ishigo set up a clinic for the kids, with four skills stations including stretching (throwing, catching for catchers, pitching and batting). From the start, I could see the kids developing better throwing motions and technique. I noticed many of the new players started throwing with much better velocity after the stretching and throwing drills. The kids really enjoyed the experience of the clinic (held at the Kailua High School baseball field) going from skill station to skill station, as well as training at a high school facility. The coaches were great, they were very supportive and positive. The stretching and throwing drills took the longest (2 hour clinic) which cut into the batting drills. We were running out of time so the batting drills were a bit rushed (hence the 4 star rating, otherwise 5 star for everything else), but I was very happy with the clinic overall. I also had my two boys take Cory's pitching clinic the week before and both threw with much better velocity and technique after the clinic. I highly recommend HBA/Cory to any parent that wants their child to receive proper and professional baseball instruction.

Fees are reasonable for the weekly one hour class. The gym is located in an industrial complex on the west side of Honolulu. Parking is a chore and walking into the complex is downright dangerous with toddlers and cars flying. The entrance needs to have a car-free zone to improve safety. Seating for parents is manageable but uncomfortable. Restrooms are clean.

Used to be open gym every Friday every week. When coming here, there are cubbies to place your items. Bring less and leave everything else at home. There's a sitting area for those who aren't jumping or tumbling too. Very minimal parking but a whole lot of street parking near Texaco gas/car wash. One thing that I'd highly recommend is just the sanitization or upkeep of the equipment. They don't have any wipes or sprays to provide and I'm not sure if they clean them at the end of the night. -./")\.-

My son has had a hard time figuring out what he wants to do as an extra curricular sport. He's…read moretried flag football, judo, soccer and basketball. He was really enjoying basketball and didn't seem too keen on soccer (and actually hated judo although he was doing it the longest). Enter Nemesis Soccer Academy, founded this past summer (2018) by Ben Villaflor, who was a great soccer player in Hawaii. My son first said he was not interested in playing but decided to give it a shot because he found a pair of soccer shoes that he wanted to buy (and I refused to get it unless he played club soccer). Ben's vision and philosophy might be different than other clubs. The focus at my son's age (8) is on development of the individual player. It is to develop skill at your age and your ability - giving you the tools to grow as an individual. Yes, you are very much part of a team, but you're developing your ability in order to be the most successful you can be when all is said and done. Focus and the goal at this age is not on winning and goals - it is about developing skill, protecting the ball, being aggressive on the ball, ball control, touches on the ball and all the good stuff that comes with it. Yes, they will learn more to the game as the years go on. The boys at this age are given equal opportunity to touch the ball in games, play different positions and learn from each other. I'm shocked by how much skill my son (and really all the kids on his team) have picked up and have been able to use in games, and how much they have grown just in 3 months. Many on the team came from previous club teams so I can't speak to how it differs as my son didn't play club soccer before. But I've seen so much growth, enthusiasm, smiling and great attitudes. The boys are developing friendships, confidence and so much more. In just 3 months, my son went from not wanting to play to someone who will not stop kicking the ball around... the house, the park, I've found the ball in his bed while he's sleeping - it's everywhere. He even wrote a paper in school about soccer! The coaches have been amazing and the parents are equally as amazing too! We're grateful for an opportunity to be a part of this club!
