We come here often to work on our kid's sports skills. It's a nice low key park during the late afternoons when it's not hot or busy. There's baseball fields, a bball court, and a playground. The bathrooms are pretty dirty and unsafe to use by yourself because there are homeless that just go in and out. Parking is easy to find.

    It's your right, use it!

I've been using this park since 1990 when we moved from the Kaneohe side to Aiea Heights then over a hill to Halawa Heights. The park is used for everything from kids sporting events, tennis, basketball, the gym for voting and community events. I've spent countless hours at Pee Wee baseball, Soccer and football games. Daily practices and weekend games, I've helped man (or woman) the pop up concession stands and helped host the school's Christmas programs. I've spent hours flying kites, planes, helicopters and crashed my fair share of them beyond repair. Lately, as the kids have all grow up, I still come here to walk my little dog Sofie. She loves to come here to chase the Egrets and Mynah birds. Loves to lay in the shade of the beautiful trees and in general, trot with her head and tail high. The park is always well maintained, the grass is thick and green. People who bring their pets are always quick to clean up after them as well as their kids. The community utilizes this park for what it is meant for, family fun.

My in-laws wanted to fly kites on the 4th of July. In our neighborhood the tradewinds were nowhere to be found, so I thought it was a crazy idea. But, much to my surprise, the wind was plentiful at Halawa District park. The park was pretty empty which was great for us because there was a lot of space for us to fly our kites and we also found a great spot under a tree to cool off and just enjoy the holiday. This park also has a multi-purpose gym, outdoor playground, and a couple of tennis courts with lights. And if this isn't enough to get you to come check out this park, what if I mentioned that Ani's Bake Shop is right across the street? :)

Playing in the HGEA League and there's lots of parking and feels cool in the gym. No water bottles in the stands or near the courts. Leave them on the table near the front entrance. Water fountains have cold water so that's good

I grew up in the area and never spent so much time here until now. It's a well taken care of and clean park. Lots and lots of parking stall, and lots of street parking as well. This park can get downright crazy on the weekends with all the clubs and sports that go on here. Two gripes though: 1. We recently notices that parts of the playground have been deteriorating and is in dire need of a fixing, before someone gets hurt. Always check out the playground before you let your kids play on it. 2. We truly wish there was a restroom at the upper part of the park too, besides the one in the rec center that they don't allow anyone to use. It's an absolute pain to be at the playground with the littles, and all of a sudden one needs the restroom and you either have to walk all the way down and back up, or drive... ugh... Otherwise, we love this park!

As we walked into the building, we were greeted by a sign saying "No Public Restrooms" I was a bit confused, cus I thought it was a public Building, Maybe I'm wrong. The only other restroom available was at the bottom of the hill. Overall The park looked like it needed some watering, but better than other ones we've been to.

Nothing was set up and every one we asked didn't know where field 1 was. Many parents and even coaches were in limbo as where to park, unload and wait. The first game we came to watch was finally set up one minute before game time. The second game 2 hours later had a mixup on fields and no team to challenge. What a mess. The lowest field is actually where we were supposed to be although we checked the middle and highest tiers too. For little kiddies the restroom facilities is a long walk up to the second level. So very glad the rest of the games except one were back at our regular home park where all 3 fields are on the same level: ground. Might be a good place to jog or walk and not sure if dogs are allowed but could be a spacious area to play frisbee or teach your kiddo to throw a football or to practice driving.

They took down the children's playground and I am hoping they build it up again soon. Convenient for families there are three separate level fields. Great for practicing sports or just spending time flying kites or racing toy cars. They also offer Zumba classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Karate on Monday and Fridays too I believe. Ample parking along the side street on the way up and the bottom and top parking lots. They also just repainted the lines so it's easier to park. My kids all play soccer here on Saturdays and we come here to exercise or cardboard slide down the hills. Nice getaway in the heart of salt lake.

My husband and I have been coming here for years, and remember coming here when we first started dating. The price went up a little bit to a few bucks a person, but it's still worth the entrance fee. We came back here with our kids, who had never been, and they had so much fun playing in and around the huge trees, running around the big open spaces, and feeding the ducks in the duck pond. A picnic was a delight at a table, and we brought a blanket to sit on and eat snacks again a little later while we were walking around. The bathrooms are nice and renovated. Really appreciate that touch. Overall, a great place to come for a little communue with nature.

For years, I was confused by the closed freeway gates, but we finally found our way in this past weekend. After grabbing some sweets in town and failing to find parking, we decided to head toward Moanalua. A last-minute turn (and some dramatic screams from my sister) landed us safely through the gates. Pro tip: Keep an eye out for the entrance--it comes up fast! Entry for Kama'aina is a very reasonable $4 per person. While it's not the most expansive botanical garden I've ever seen, it is a peaceful "secret" oasis right in the city. The massive monkeypod trees provide incredible shade for the many picnic tables available. We loved the duck pond and watching the turtles. You can even buy food to feed them, which is great for families. It's quiet, uncrowded, and perfect for a slow stroll across the bridge and along the stream. Just be sure to follow the signs and take your valuables with you when you park! And the bathroom , although indicates women, the signs hanging in the doors indicate men and the other two women. Restroom is nice and clean and I liked the classic farm sink and faucet.
