It's located near the playground, next to the bike rack, on the opposite side of the bathrooms. The Good: + Basketball court with 6 hoops. + Awesome view of Pearl Harbor. + Soccer teams play soccer games here. Needs Maintenance: + Bathroom: bring napkins, hand sanitizer/soap, or go somewhere else to use the bathroom. Parking: There are 2 parking areas, one below near the fire station. The other one is located near the recreation center. The parking near the recreation center has a lot of shade. Needs to be demolished and rebuilt: - Playground: Graffiti is prevalent on the structure. There are boards, huge cracks on the slide where kids can cut themselves, and portions of the playground is completely taken off. Overall, good park to play different sports. Don't come here to play at the playground. Check out the mini library if your in the area.

Just…read moreget rid of the electric tower and lines that run mountain-to-ocean and you've got a pretty much unobstructed view from Kapolei to Diamond Head. It's fantastic. What I don't like is the poor field conditions, the lack of cutting the really tall brush adjacent to the fields, and the millions of mosquitos. Watching my daughter's soccer practice is painful, not because she can't play (she's my own little Natasha Kai, thank you very much), but because of the little critters chewing on my flesh for 2.5-hours. You'd think I'd get a can of 'OFF' by now, but nah...I spend my money on sunflower seeds! There is not enough parking stalls at the top of the park, but drive down to the bottom closer to the fire station and there's a large lot and plenty of street parking. No matter, I just love sitting in my soccer-viewing chair and enjoying the view. It makes up for being eaten alive!

I grew up in the area and never spent so much time here until now. It's a well taken care of and clean park. Lots and lots of parking stall, and lots of street parking as well. This park can get downright crazy on the weekends with all the clubs and sports that go on here. Two gripes though: 1. We recently notices that parts of the playground have been deteriorating and is in dire need of a fixing, before someone gets hurt. Always check out the playground before you let your kids play on it. 2. We truly wish there was a restroom at the upper part of the park too, besides the one in the rec center that they don't allow anyone to use. It's an absolute pain to be at the playground with the littles, and all of a sudden one needs the restroom and you either have to walk all the way down and back up, or drive... ugh... Otherwise, we love this park!

I was the only one parked there and I went on a Friday morning around 9. Playground: The sign says its for kids ages 5- 12. I took my 22 month old daughter. She loved it. I loved how clean the playground is! It's seriously the cleanest playground I've taken my kids to. There are two slides for kids to choose from. Parts of the park are shaded, included two benches you can sit at to watch your little ones while they play. The bigger slide has a bridge that was too scary for my daughter to go on alone, she wasn't scared, I was. A little toddler could easily fall through, but I can see how it could be fun for bigger kids to get to the big slide. Since we had the whole playground to ourselves, I let her climb up the big slide to enjoy it, rather than try to cross the bridge she could easily fall through. Despite some shaded areas, my daughter said the big slide was too hot for her to slide on around 10 a.m. Area: There are walking trails you can take advantage of. The trails go along a stream and it was .5 miles, round trip from the parking lot to the end and back. The trails are shaded, which was nice. I saw a lot of dog owners on the trails while I was exploring. There are some pull up bars by the playground. There is also tennis courts and basketball courts. I definitely recommend this fun little park and playground.

We, dogs adn humans, all get along swimmingly, giving both our dogs and us a chance to socialize. We share water bowls and trade dinner ideas, rosemary and training tips. It's a responsible, playful and peaceful scene. For the kids, there is a jungle gym that can get crowded, tennis backboards, and basketball courts. Also open space for playing whatever else you can think of. It can get crowded in the afternoon with baseball practice and the A-plus kids. Also the kids can leave a lot of rubbish and snacks around that the dogs can get into, so you gotta watch that. But other than that, its a fun, sober, happy hour. See you there!

I usually look for a spot of green on the GPS in the form of a city park. On a recent shopping trip to the Waikele Outlets, I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful the nearby Waikele Community Park is! We dropped off the shopper and drove just a few minutes. The park is shaped like a giant half circle with golf condos behind trees around it. The parking lot is very large with plenty of shaded parking. This park is awash in amenities: public clean restrooms, a community pool with generous hours (although be prepared for unexpected closings), a recreation office with many classes and activities, and picnic area (by permit). Everything we explored was spotless, no trash here. Uphill from the pool is a large open field perfect to play games, set up volleyball nets or tents. There was a large family gathering happening while we were there, and it looked so relaxing and shady. This is as perfect as an Oahu city park can be!

Yelp Elite Rod is like the Sakura forecaster of Wahiawa. This is the 2 nd year in a row we've come to see the pretty pink fragile blossoms once his photos appear on Yelp. The trees fronting California Avenue by Iliahi School had several cars already parked with avid fans taking photos. We drove on and did come upon some cherry trees further up on the right hand side still on California Avenue but nowhere to park with cars there too then... I remembered Rod's post mentioning a footbridge and Glenn Avenue. Unfamiliar with the area I inputted Glenn Avenue to Maps and our eyes were scanning both sides of the street for a foot bridge. Ta duh!!! On the left hand side we spotted the place. High curbing with no place to park. So... hubs told me to get out of the car with fur bebe who we brought along for the ride. He went to find parking on a side street. Come my little fur bebe let's take a look. There was a family with a tripod taking photos so I moved and waited on the side. When they were done I asked them where they parked. The man said at the botanical gardens. Sure enough it's right across the short foot bridge. Next time. While I was getting some selfies another man came in my direction and told me there's more trees by the church. I asked him do you know what the name of the church is? He thought for a moment and said Nazarene. Perhaps next time we'll check it out but we had to hele on since I had placed our lunch order before we left the house and it was WAY past 25 minutes. Hope the cherry blossoms will last two more weeks so we can bring Doc here to see the beautiful fragile pink blossoms that bloom it seems only around this time every year.
