This playground seems newer than some others we've visited, and is pretty safe as well. Buuuuttt.... Bring Bug Spray! This playground has TONS of ants! I mean, it's outdoors, yes, but no joke. On the playground itself, where the kids actually run around, there are more ants than I've ever seen on any other playground. I've been bitten on multiple occasions here. The most recent time was pretty bad. So also, if you're a parent that wants to sit down, bring a chair or something. Lol.

Earlier in the day it's not as bad, even with Zumba (8:00 on Saturdays). There's another small lot further down by the baseball fields. The indoor basketball court is in relatively decent shape. The bathrooms are "closed for renovations" but the ones in the multipurpose room (where Zumba is held) is open. It's strange coz you'd have to walk through the kitchen of sorts to get there. There are a few picnic tables outside the multipurpose rooms. There murals on the walls are faded but they must have been pretty cool in their day. Unfortunately there are leaks; must have rained overnight. The indoor basketball court is one of the better maintained areas in this park. 4 stars for indoor court, 3.5 stars overall from my couple of daytime visits and impression.

I grew up in the area and never spent so much time here until now. It's a well taken care of and clean park. Lots and lots of parking stall, and lots of street parking as well. This park can get downright crazy on the weekends with all the clubs and sports that go on here. Two gripes though: 1. We recently notices that parts of the playground have been deteriorating and is in dire need of a fixing, before someone gets hurt. Always check out the playground before you let your kids play on it. 2. We truly wish there was a restroom at the upper part of the park too, besides the one in the rec center that they don't allow anyone to use. It's an absolute pain to be at the playground with the littles, and all of a sudden one needs the restroom and you either have to walk all the way down and back up, or drive... ugh... Otherwise, we love this park!

CLEAN floors, nice basketball rims and full glass backboards, bleachers are pulled out to sit on and to put your stuff. I used to play here back in my late teens and early 20s when I used to visit and had a great time back then and am happy that things haven't changed much. There is a good group of dudes not in their 20s (thankfully) that play on a regular basis and who all seem to know each other. I've been three times in the last week and will continue to come here as much as I can for the rest of my time here. I'm thankful to have free gym access. But, the end of the slide is quite a way off the ground so it was a little difficult for the 3.5 yr old to hop off of. We had to carry the 2 yr old off. There are prickly weeds that grow around the back and sides. Since it's a sand playground, you can't see the loose prickly pieces and both my daughter and I got poked. It did look like a lot of fun for the other older kids and we'll probably try when my kids are a bit older so hopefully they'll do some landscaping on the weeds by then. We also saw a few kids spitting water in the sand and making spit-water sand balls. Gross.

Nothing was set up and every one we asked didn't know where field 1 was. Many parents and even coaches were in limbo as where to park, unload and wait. The first game we came to watch was finally set up one minute before game time. The second game 2 hours later had a mixup on fields and no team to challenge. What a mess. The lowest field is actually where we were supposed to be although we checked the middle and highest tiers too. For little kiddies the restroom facilities is a long walk up to the second level. So very glad the rest of the games except one were back at our regular home park where all 3 fields are on the same level: ground. Might be a good place to jog or walk and not sure if dogs are allowed but could be a spacious area to play frisbee or teach your kiddo to throw a football or to practice driving.

My husband and I have been coming here for years, and remember coming here when we first started dating. The price went up a little bit to a few bucks a person, but it's still worth the entrance fee. We came back here with our kids, who had never been, and they had so much fun playing in and around the huge trees, running around the big open spaces, and feeding the ducks in the duck pond. A picnic was a delight at a table, and we brought a blanket to sit on and eat snacks again a little later while we were walking around. The bathrooms are nice and renovated. After grabbing some sweets in town and failing to find parking, we decided to head toward Moanalua. A last-minute turn (and some dramatic screams from my sister) landed us safely through the gates. Pro tip: Keep an eye out for the entrance--it comes up fast! Entry for Kama'aina is a very reasonable $4 per person. While it's not the most expansive botanical garden I've ever seen, it is a peaceful "secret" oasis right in the city. The massive monkeypod trees provide incredible shade for the many picnic tables available. We loved the duck pond and watching the turtles. You can even buy food to feed them, which is great for families. It's quiet, uncrowded, and perfect for a slow stroll across the bridge and along the stream. Just be sure to follow the signs and take your valuables with you when you park! And the bathroom , although indicates women, the signs hanging in the doors indicate men and the other two women. Restroom is nice and clean and I liked the classic farm sink and faucet.

My grandchild use these facilities often... bus rides can seem long when you gotta go so this is a safe clean option to this often problem.
