This State Park hold events such as wedding, birthdays, or whatever celebration you want. We came here for a wedding. It's such a beautiful space (inside and outside! The hall was decorated beautifully. And the outdoor space is just breathtaking! The space includes the ceremony area, reception hall, bridal suite with private bathroom, and security. The indoor space is definitely big enough for 300 people. The outdoor portion had space for outdoor activities (games or whatever) or you can just enjoy the scenic view. The park is near a beach which is open to the public. The event space areas are closed to the public while an event is going on (big plus). The food and drinks are catered separately. The staff were very kind and helpful. It truly is a beautiful space! read more

He'eia State Park offers fantastic things to do for families with kids, including climbing trees, stunning views, picnic areas, snorkeling spots, and birdwatching opportunities. A great place for event rentals. The park is managed by Kama'aina Kids, a non-profit organization. The park is a great place to sit have lunch or a snack as you look out to Kaneohe Bay and the fish ponds. There is also a very nice garden down below. I've been here for weddings, birthday parties, and cultural events. The scenery is what sells this place in having an event there. The space is provided but you have to do all the labor in set up and clean up. This maybe a deterrent for you but that scenery is God's slice of heaven. read more

Excellent facilities and amazing grounds with ample parking. The staff was on site and available throughout the event providing support when we needed. He'eia State Park is a hidden gem!! We made reservations for kayaking and snorkeling for the following day and we were in the area so we stopped in to get a preview and get a lay of the land. The next day, we checked in at a table outside of the banquet hall and the park guide was so nice and answered all of our questions. They even provided dry bags for our valuables at no extra charge! We went down the path to where you get your gear and kayaks. All the park guides were very concerned for everyone's safety and made sure we knew how to use the equipment and had a good fit on the life jackets and flippers. The Perception brand kayaks were great quality! We were provided with a map and told where you can and can't go and where the best place to see fish and turtles! And they saw a huge turtle about 3 feet in diameter and some beautiful fish! The guide that distributed life vests, etc. said that the military base is close by and we might be seeing and hearing huge cargo planes and we sure did! It wasn't too crowded and we just had the best day ever at this state park! * Bring a Go Pro or other underwater camera to photograph what you see! read more

Beautiful park to visit in He'eia, Oahu. If it were a nicer day, we would have stayed longer. He'eia State Park offers excellent mountain and ocean views and a lovely place for a picnic. Another gem on my the Windward side of the Island!! My small family of three decided to spend some time this Sunday driving up Kamehameha highway to do some exploring! I am beyond glad that we did!! He'eia state park is gorgeous! We walked around and learned that there is Kayaking here! We will be doing this very soon!! Easy way to get to water and the views are really breathtaking! This is less than 15 minutes from our home! I seriously can't wait to go back and try the kayaking! The grounds seem to be very well kept. I'm not sure what the one negative review is all about I'm not sure where you can go here in Hawaii where there are not feral cats and or chickens...exactly there aren't. These creatures are not bothering anyone so let's not use them to give a beautiful place a bad name...okay rant over:/ Any-who this park is perfect if you want to watch the sunset, walk, or just want panoramic views of the bay, this park is for you and the kiddos. read more

2nd largest fish pond on island. So cool to hear that many non-profits contribute to restoring and actively maintaining this pond that's 600-800 years old! My son, friend, and I was fortunate to volunteer with Hui o Ko'olaupoko working on water restoration. The parking lot seems well maintained and when I arrived, there were many volunteers working on park clean up. The bathroom was pretty clean! Great views from atop of the Ko'olau mountain and Kaneohe Bay. There are certain day(s) where you can sign up and pay to fish here. Something my family will be back for! You do have to cross the water which can be either ankle deep or waist deep to get to the wall. Many people work very hard in maintaining the wall and it's not meant for everyone to go on top of. So if you do get the access to get on the wall, show respect! Those rocks aren't cemented in and could crumble.. Nice park to have a picnic or a decent sized party. There are kayaking opportunities too and a boat harbor right behind. read more

Let's go kayaking! I had no idea that this State Park had a commercial business in operation here! I usually just come to He'eia State Park for picnics and parties. The view is breathtaking and the cool breeze is fresh and invigorating! (Just be aware of the feral cats and chickens...) Parking is free and restrooms are available. Today, I was wondering why the parking lot was kind of busy. There were some tourists (big, floppy hats, towels, sunglasses, swimsuits, and sandals) walking about and I followed a couple down a path. There, between the trees, I saw some bright yellow kayaks! Wow! I went back up the hill and found the office. Right now, the rates are $65 Tandem /$55 Single for up to 4 hours and $75 Tandem /$65 Single for up to 8 hours. Notes: learn about conservation by reading the posterboards and diplays. Great place to celebrate anything. They provide tables and chairs. It has a nice view. The parking sucks tho, because if you have an event and have lots of people coming, they can't close off the parking lot just for your party. It has to be open to the park visitors too. So there's not too many parking stalls. And make sure you clean up to get your deposit back. Other than that, it's a great place for a venue. read more

You've Got to Be Kitten Me Right Meow. This 18-acre peninsula, located on windward side of Oahu, was a quick stop on our journey from Kailua, to Haleiwa. I'd bookmarked a few attractions along our route, with this being one of them. Reviews mentioned the abundance of feral cats, so this was a definite stop for me. The cats were plentiful, friendly, and coexisted with chickens. I was missing my cats at home, so seeing all these babies helped. Plus, I really love cats! The views here were spectacular! Calm waters with so many shades of blue, it was unreal. The photos can't capture the colors. The Ko'olau Mountains surround you. Added bonus: the low flying military planes that were landing at the nearby station. A dramatic scene reminding me of a scene from a movie about Pearl Harbor. Speaking of which, there's some WWII history at this site, which was once a monitoring station known as, "Station H". Restrooms were clean. My bladder appreciated the public restroom after our morning coffee. Plenty of parking. Cool facts: An ancient fishpond (He'eia Fishpond) sits to the right of Kealohi Point. Kane'ohe Bay features Oahu's only barrier reef. They have a banquet hall that you can rent for private events. We came for the cats, but discovered so much more. The peninsula was known as "leaping point" in Hawaiian culture. It's a sacred place, where the souls of the departed were believed to leap from this earth, and reunite with their ancestors. First, all proceeds for this location goes to Kama'aina Kids. For those of you who love kids and supporting future generations, that's an important piece of information. That and the location were the main things that won me over when planning my wedding. This location rents out water equipment and will give you and your party guests a discount for the week if you have an event on their property. We were looking for an affordable yet private wedding by the beach at a location that would give us flexibility to make our own decisions without a wedding planner. We got everything except a beach though we still had an ocean and mountain view for the ceremony and a banquet hall for the reception. With an additional cost we could have had a bridal suite but we didn't have a bridal party and we live nearby so that was unnecessary. With a $500 deposit, that was returned to us a couple of weeks after the event, we had the location from 0900 to about 2130. The gates lock at 2230 so you want to give yourselves time to clean and get out. There are a couple of packages that include cleaning, security, tables, chairs, fans, use of the kitchen, and a sound system. Otherwise you can ala cart what you like. See the website for prices. We went through Accel for linen and lighting because they are affordable and familiar with the location. They arrived early to set up but a little late to take down. We went through a caterer for food and our friends took are of everything else. We arrived at 1000 to set up (tables,chairs, decorations) left at around 1400, returned for the event at 1600, celebrated until 2130, and cleaned afterward. They will take care of putting away tables and chairs inside the banquet hall. We were responsible for everything else. Final note, this is a park and it is next to both the marina and one of the oldest Hawaiian fishponds in the State of Hawai'i so keep this in mind when talking to guests, planning outdoor activities, and decorations. read more

Wow! I haven't been here in years and yes, today was the day. Now let's see, what did I like about this place. For one, the view is beautiful and the place itself is quiet. What I didn't like about this place - OMG! I've counted 26 cats!! I'm sure there's more but really?? The cats here are just too much to be lingering here and yes! There are a lot of chickens, roosters and baby chicks. The funny part of it is that they all get along. They cross each other's paths constantly and they don't even bother each other. It's like just passing another person with no thought about (you know what!!) lol but they get along. I didn't really didn't stay long enough to take the whole view in because I really don't like cats and seeing them all there was not something I really wanted to see and soooooo many. I do give this place credit for being upkept. They do cut the grass and try to keep the area nice and clean for all the tourists to keep coming back??? The park itself is quite small, but the view of the bay is worth it. Others state it is peaceful, and I will agree. Family and I stayed here for probably an hour or so enjoying a picnic and maybe 5 cars at the most came in and out. Most folks seemed interested in snapping the pictures and leaving. There are 2 banquet rooms one can rent out for parties. Outside there is a nice stand set up for weddings; and a concrete slab which in all honesty needs to be repaved as it seems to be breaking up and could pose a tripping hazard down the road. Inside the larger banquet room is a gift shop and kyak/snorkel tour office. I believe prices start at $120 for each person, and am unsure of the age restrictions. I could be wrong. So definitely check on their website before taking my word on it. Will agree with everyone else - these are probably some of the best state park public restrooms! :) Another roped off chain with a road leading down hill takes you to the He'eia fishpond itself. The fishpond is being maintained by Kamehameha schools, and several schools will bring kids to assist in the work to restore this fishpond to its former glory. They do offer opportunity to come use the pond to fish, but you do have to go and register on their website to do so. Tons of feral cats and chickens especially by the dumpsters - be warned. There's lots of parking here. It is very quite. Smells like the zoo though. I only saw cats . So funny...elderly lady drives up and immediately cat ears begin to pop up. She starts tapping on the side of her little Mazda door and they scurry over to her. She gets out and opens the trunk. She pulls out the largest bag of cat food and begins tossing it to them. As needless as it is to say, it is absolutely gorgeous!! We rented a kayak and snorkel gear. Snorkeled all 3 reefs and went out to the sandbar in the 4 hours. Well worth it. I am writing this review because we left our GoPro in the snorkel equipment bag on accident and the staff went and found our GoPro, contacted us, and they are mailing it to our house because we left the island the next day before they were able to find it. The thought of losing the memories from this trip and trips prior was crushing, but the wonderful people that work here who were so kind to us throughout our experience, were able to give us our memories back!! Heeia State Park is beautiful and on the Windward Side of Oahu, although there isn't a whole lot to see besides views of the ocean and mountains. Basically, there is a large banquet room that can be rented out by groups or for parties, a boat launch area next door, restrooms, and a good-sized parking lot. Probably not the most popular park in the area, but hey, it's something to check out even if you happen to come across it by accident like I did. read more

Nice park located between Kāne'ohe Bay and Heeia Pier. Lots of parking available as there is a large pavilion where people often have weddings, graduation parties, and baby lūau. There are many native plants on site, including hala, kukui, ulu, and kalo. Decently clean public bathrooms - actually much better than most parks and beaches on island. The park is mostly wheelchair accessible, but there are spots that are difficult to get to. A small Hawaiian church (Ka Ohana o ke Aloha) meets at the park on Sunday's at 11am on the oceanside of the hale to the left of the pavilion. They embrace biblical teaching, justice, Hawaiian language and culture, and welcome people of various backgrounds to attend. read more

Away from the hustle and bustle of urban life in Honolulu, alway from the car engines that honk at you to remind yourself that city life isn't so hot, but it's reality for many citizens on this island, you come to a place like Heeia state park and you forget your troubles - as they float away. I've known about Heeia state park since about 3 years ago, when I decided to go holo holo around the island by TheBus. You still can though via route 55 to Haleiwa via Kaneohe. On the way there, you can stop by Heeia State park and the adjacent Heeia boat harbor, both have bus stops parked in front of the entrances going north into the country, but only at Heeia boat harbor is where the bus stop to go town / Ala Moana Shopping center bound. I've learned only recently that Heeia state park and the surrounding area is a magnet for people who play Pokémon Go. I took it upon myself to visit here for a few hours and made it a day trip from the urban sprawl that is Honolulu. I arrived here on New Year's Day 2017 and it was pretty quiet. This state park definitely has that natural beauty attached to it and you can see the Heeia fish ponds while on the overlook. While the park itself is generally small and basically boasts just a small parking lot and a gift shop, it's one of those community parks that the state had set up on the windward side of Oahu just to have that green space for locals and tourists alike to enjoy as they pass through this part of the island. I myself did enjoy the serenity and quietness that came with Heeia state park. Granted that I was here on New Year's Day at around 1:30pm, it was quite nice and saw just a handful of people walking around. The overall experience here at Heeia State park was good. It was interesting to see a house built within the state park, but that's probably the office and gift shop. It looked like private property to me with people hanging out on the bench outside. There wasn't anyone around that could say where's what, but considering that Heeia state park is generally a small state park with an asphalt road leading from Kamehameha Highway in. You should come for the views of the water front, as it comes into view for all to enjoy. The enjoyable views of Heeia fishponds was particularly nice and had a calming and soothing effect that most things in nature does anyway. I probably had spent a good hour or so here at the Heeia state park enjoying the scene and playing my Pokémon Go before heading out to Heeia boat harbor to check things out. Heeia state park is located at 46-465 Kamehameha highway in Kaneohe. It's technically north on the outskirts of Kaneohe town, so best believe to fire up that car of yours or take route 55 bus out of Kaneohe. There is parking here, but not by much though. Best bet is to come here early and secure prime parking. The best part about Heeia state park is that it's free. Yup, free admission, so you can come here and enjoy the open spaces that your tax dollars are doing to help protect development from spoiling such pristine views and locales. There's a plethora of things to do while here at the Heeia state park, but you can use your own imagination for most things. Have a picnic and enjoy the scenery would be top in my book or just enjoy the water scenery while you are up here. I'm sure the sunrise from th water is always breathtaking and very cool to see. While you are here, don't forget to check the gift shop and see what there is for sale. I have not been to the gift shop, just because it was New Year's day when I came here. Nonetheless, I would like to make a return trip here when I have time to do so again in good time. While this park is connected to the Heeia boat harbor, it has it's own identity and is unique charm, especially when it's right on the way from Kaneohe to Kahuku. For what it's worth, come for the beauty and stay for the bliss. You may be enlightened on a day trip here. While there is one secluded beach here, chances are you can have fun with friends for a good 5 hours on the weekend if you wanted to. Perfect for get togethers and barbecues just past Kaneohe town. 4.0 stars for the scenery and the serenity. Perfect way to get away from the urban style of Honolulu. Support local! B+ read more

It's a pretty run down park near Heeia Boat Harbor. The views to the harbor and sea were pretty but marred by the rusty old bent chain link fences that surround the place. The parking lot is full of feral cats and wild chickens/roosters. There's a sprinkle of tourists here. How they found the place? I don't know. I've been here twice for parties, as there is a hall to rent out. It's decent sized with a small kitchen to refrigerate your items (but no stove). read more

It was a drizzly and windy kind of day so I didn't check out the rest of the grounds. I can't really say much as we were there for about 2 hours because my son got sick, threw up on me and we went home. lol. My recap: Pros: -Lots of parking -Clean and well maintained facilities (interestingly, you rent the facilities from Kamaaina Kids, the preschool.) -Nice view from the community hall -Spacious banquet hall with high, exposed beam ceilings; comes with tables and chairs, and there was kitchen attached to the back of the place Cons: -Far? lol...I'm a townie. Rundown building and walkways. This is not somewhere I would stay and hang out, but it's right off the road, and great to stop for some unique views (and cute cats). The place isn't really big but a wonderful place for a picnic and enjoy the outdoors. Also, there are a few wooden big paddle boats in various state of repair. The park has a large banquet hall for weddings or other gatherings. We never saw any information about why it was a state park. Other than that, there's not much going on. read more

A week ago Kevin was my guide on a catamaran snorkeling tour during a 12 hour layover. He was an amazing guide. I will remember the adventure for the rest of my life. It was one of the best and worst days I have experienced. Worst only because on that trip I lost my cellphone. The phone had pictures of my recent trip to Japan to see my daughter, the last text conversation with I close friend that passed away several years ago, photos and videos I have been saving for years of family that have passed away and all my contact (to include the person who was to pick me at the end of my journey). Kevin seeing how upset I was when I lost it had tried to find it that day without success. I replaced the phone before boarding my plane and found that everything except my photos and videos automatically backed up.  Today I found out that Kevin found my phone while recently snorkeling the spot we believed I lost it. He didn't stop looking. He truly is a godsend and a miracle worker. Pictures and video I thought were lost forever are now on their way back to me. Words can not express how much this means to me.  I recommend this tour and Kevin as a guide. Whether you live, are visiting/vacationing or on a long layover to Hawaii. You will leave with memories to last a lifetime of snorkeling with the sea turtles. read more

Amazing place to snorkel and kayak to various sandbars.The reef is amazing but there aren't too many fishes. I would have given 5 star if there were more fish. This place is not too far from Kailua and Lanikai. My wife and I saw about 9/10 massive turtle here (500 lbs+). We rented a kayak and anchored down to various sand bars to snorkel. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. read more
