This State Park hold events such as wedding, birthdays, or whatever celebration you want. We came here for a wedding. It's such a beautiful space (inside and outside! The hall was decorated beautifully. And the outdoor space is just breathtaking! The space includes the ceremony area, reception hall, bridal suite with private bathroom, and security. The indoor space is definitely big enough for 300 people. The outdoor portion had space for outdoor activities (games or whatever) or you can just enjoy the scenic view. The park is near a beach which is open to the public. The event space areas are closed to the public while an event is going on (big plus). The food and drinks are catered separately. The staff were very kind and helpful. It truly is a beautiful space!

He'eia State Park offers fantastic things to do for families with kids, including climbing trees, stunning views, picnic areas, snorkeling spots, and birdwatching opportunities. Restrooms are also conveniently available. Overall, my experience was positive, and I recommend others to visit this gem of a park.

We rented out the banquet hall for my father-in-laws celebration of life services and Kaimana Chee and the management at Kealohi Point (He'eia State Park) took care of us as if we were family. Excellent facilities and amazing grounds with ample parking. The staff was on site and available throughout the event providing support when we needed. Mahalo Nui Loa toe Kaimana and Sage!!!

A great place for event rentals. The park is managed by Kama'aina Kids, a non-profit organization. The park is a great place to sit have lunch or a snack as you look out to Kaneohe Bay and the fish ponds. There is also a very nice garden down below. I've been here for weddings, birthday parties, and cultural events. The scenery is what sells this place in having an event there. The space is provided but you have to do all the labor in set up and clean up. This maybe a deterrent for you but that scenery is God's slice of heaven.

He'eia State Park is a hidden gem!! We made reservations for kayaking and snorkeling for the following day and we were in the area so we stopped in to get a preview and get a lay of the land. The next day, we checked in at a table outside of the banquet hall and the park guide was so nice and answered all of our questions. They even provided dry bags for our valuables at no extra charge! We went down the path to where you get your gear and kayaks. All the park guides were very concerned for everyone's safety and made sure we knew how to use the equipment and had a good fit on the life jackets and flippers. The Perception brand kayaks were great quality! We were provided with a map and told where you can and can't go and where the best place to see fish and turtles! And they saw a huge turtle about 3 feet in diameter and some beautiful fish! The guide that distributed life vests, etc. said that the military base is close by and we might be seeing and hearing huge cargo planes and we sure did! It wasn't too crowded and we just had the best day ever at this state park! * Bring a Go Pro or other underwater camera to photograph what you see!

Beautiful park to visit in He'eia, Oahu. If it were a nicer day, we would have stayed longer. He'eia State Park offers excellent mountain and ocean views and a lovely place for a picnic. It has a diverse garden and views of the He'eia fishpond (although not part of the park). We visited on a cold, rainy day, but would have liked to spend more time here if sunnier!

Off the beaten path... beautiful, quiet, tranquil. You can enjoy the views and get fresh ocean air while sitting on a bench in shade.

Another gem on my the Windward side of the Island!! My small family of three decided to spend some time this Sunday driving up Kamehameha highway to do some exploring! I am beyond glad that we did!! He'eia state park is gorgeous! We walked around and learned that there is Kayaking here! We will be doing this very soon!! Easy way to get to water and the views are really breathtaking! This is less than 15 minutes from our home! I seriously can't wait to go back and try the kayaking! The grounds seem to be very well kept. I'm not sure what the one negative review is all about I'm not sure where you can go here in Hawaii where there are not feral cats and or chickens...exactly there aren't. These creatures are not bothering anyone so let's not use them to give a beautiful place a bad name...okay rant over:/ Any-who this park is perfect if you want to watch the sunset, walk, or just want panoramic views of the bay, this park is for you and the kiddos.

2nd largest fish pond on island. So cool to hear that many non-profits contribute to restoring and actively maintaining this pond that's 600-800 years old! My son, friend, and I was fortunate to volunteer with Hui o Ko'olaupoko working on water restoration. The parking lot seems well maintained and when I arrived, there were many volunteers working on park clean up. The bathroom was pretty clean! Great views from atop of the Ko'olau mountain and Kaneohe Bay. There are certain day(s) where you can sign up and pay to fish here. Something my family will be back for! You do have to cross the water which can be either ankle deep or waist deep to get to the wall. Many people work very hard in maintaining the wall and it's not meant for everyone to go on top of. So if you do get the access to get on the wall, show respect! Those rocks aren't cemented in and could crumble.. Nice park to have a picnic or a decent sized party. There are kayaking opportunities too and a boat harbor right behind.

Let's go kayaking! I had no idea that this State Park had a commercial business in operation here! I usually just come to He'eia State Park for picnics and parties. The view is breathtaking and the cool breeze is fresh and invigorating! (Just be aware of the feral cats and chickens...) Parking is free and restrooms are available. Today, I was wondering why the parking lot was kind of busy. There were some tourists (big, floppy hats, towels, sunglasses, swimsuits, and sandals) walking about and I followed a couple down a path. There, between the trees, I saw some bright yellow kayaks! Wow! I went back up the hill and found the office. Right now, the rates are $65 Tandem /$55 Single for up to 4 hours and $75 Tandem /$65 Single for up to 8 hours. Notes: learn about conservation by reading the posterboards and diplays. Check out the Gift Shop for souvenirs!

There's lots of parking here. It is very quite. Smells like the zoo though. I only saw cats . So funny...elderly lady drives up and immediately cat ears begin to pop up. She starts tapping on the side of her little Mazda door and they scurry over to her. She gets out and opens the trunk. She pulls out the largest bag of cat food and begins tossing it to them. Heart just melted as they eat and meows. This lady has an enormously big heart. Mahalo

Review for Windward Water Sports 33 Hoolai St, Kailua, HI…read more96734 Owner/Instructor: Jeff Tobias On August 31, I contacted Windward Water Sports, owned and operated by Jeff Tobias, regarding a kayak rental. Since it was a Sunday and most other rental businesses were closed, we reluctantly went with this company -- a decision I sincerely regret. From the outset, the experience was chaotic and unprofessional. Calling ahead yielded little useful information; staff were unclear, unresponsive, and seemingly uninterested in helping. We were forced to book online due to the lack of timely or reliable communication. Upon arrival, we were issued kayaks and life vests that were in poor, unsafe condition. The life jackets were tattered, worn out, and looked completely unmaintained -- a major safety red flag. It's clear that this business does not prioritize safety or equipment standards. There was no proper safety briefing, and we received no warnings about the unfavorable weather or ocean conditions. The water that day was rough, choppy, and unsafe -- especially for first-time kayakers. No one at Windward Water Sports made any attempt to reschedule us or even disclose these conditions. A responsible and ethical business would have recognized the risk and acted accordingly. The parking at the launch site was disorganized and overcrowded, costing us nearly an hour of our already limited rental window. What should have been a 20-minute paddle to the snorkeling area took over 90 minutes due to the dangerous wave activity. Once we arrived, visibility in the water was zero -- snorkeling was completely out of the question. To make matters worse, on the return trip, one person in our group capsized and could not reboard their kayak without assistance -- a terrifying experience that further reflects the lack of proper safety measures, briefing, or equipment quality. After this ordeal, I requested a partial refund, understanding that we used the kayaks briefly. I was met with a flat denial. The justification? "Business has been bad." That is not a valid excuse. It is completely unacceptable to prioritize your financial struggles over the safety, experience, and basic rights of your customers. At this point, given the unsafe conditions, defective equipment, and the lack of disclosure or professionalism, I am demanding a full refund. That is the only reasonable and ethical course of action. Jeff Tobias needs to do the right thing and issue a full refund immediately. This wasn't just a poor experience -- it was negligent, unsafe, and unethical. I will be filing complaints with relevant consumer protection agencies and posting this review across all major platforms to warn others. Avoid Windward Water Sports. Your safety and your money are worth more.

We called day of to confirm we are able to go to the sand bar on a Sunday. He had a few kayaks left and suggested we reserve it ASAP. We showed up at 10:15 to get our 2 tandem kayaks. Jeff and another employee helped us load it onto the top of our Nissan Altima, taught us how to load it, and told us where to park to get to the sand bar. We were off within 15 minutes. The kayaks are a lot heavier than I expected. They mounted them with ease but it was much harder for us to do on our own. It isn't hard in terms of the order to do everything or how to do it, but it was hard just because it is heavy. Overall I'd rent from here again as long as you have strong people to carry the kayaks. The rental for Kaneohe sand bar must be a full day rental (we used about 4.5 hours but would have felt rushed to get it back in 4 hours). It includes an anchor as well. It was $75 per tandem kayak + tax for us.

I read about the excursions off Waikiki that all but promised seeing Honu. I did some research and chose to book with Captain Max Boat Tours and their Turtle Canyon Snorkel. I read reviews and what really attracted me to this outfitter was the fact they ran semi-private boat tours with only 6 guests. Correspondence (email) leading up to the excursion was clear and helpful. We arrived a few minutes early and visited their small shop while checking in. We waited just a few minutes and then were walked over to their boat dock, meeting both the guide, Sophia and the boat captain, Stephanie. They gave us safety information and prepared us for the short boat ride out to "Turtle Canyon". Our craft was a zodiac type inflatable raft with a mounted seats and a windscreen for the captain. We glided out to the snorkel zone with Waikiki beach before us, a grand ocean view of this famous beach. Sophie helped the other guests get their snorkel gear (included in the price) except for us - we bring our own snorkel equipment. We put in the water and after all guests were in, Sophia called in the direction she was leading us. On the way over we swam through schools of fish. This was an awesome experience we did not expect - we snorkel a lot and love seeing the marine life. We learned that some outfitters feed the fish out here and so they stick around instead of swim away, which we're used to experiencing. In about 20 feet of water our guide pointed out several turtles on the bottom. Lucky for us, one of them swap up for air - and stayed near the and stayed near the surface for quite a few minutes (longer than we usually see) which allowed us to get a great view of this beautiful creature (all the while, maintaining a safe distance to protect the turtle). Sophia led us to two other spots nearby, seeing fish on the reef below and several more turtles. Once again we were fortunate to have another turtle swim up to the surface for a few breaths. I'm very glad we chose Captain Max as some of the other outfitters that bring larger groups would have been a very different experience with a group clamoring for views of the few turtles that were out there. Our guide was knowledgeable, approachable, and friendly - and ensured we were all safe (and the marine life were also protected). On our way back to shore we were treated to another great view of Oahu, with Waikiki and Honolulu in the foreground and the mountains behind. Thanks Sophie and Captain Stephanie for a memorable excursion! NOTE: We know that early in the morning is generally the best time to snorkel as the water tends to be calmer, visibility better and fish ore active. We had a 930 start but next time would be the early time (730) as I learned there are even fewer other outfitters out on the water at that time.
