This park is right next to a school so their parking lot plus another one with steps across the way are used or street parking is another option. If you lug a cart with your chairs, umbrella(s) and mini cooler of chilled bottled water and/or spam musubi, etc.it's more convenient to maneuver your haul by parking at the school. The good thing about this park is that only 2 games are going on simultaneously vs 3. Fortunately there is ample shade on both sides to keep the fans from overdose of UV rays or heat stroke. Our team's practice was after 11 a.m. so the kiddies were playing in the heat of the day. Amazing how they can run back and forth across the field in that temperature. Just so happened there was someone close by intermittently playing Jawaiian type music so that was cool. The field was not muddy or overgrown, just dry so that was appreciated plus close enough and easy to walk to. AUWE to the person from the team before who left their orangey peels on the ground without taking their OPALA away with them. Gotta remember to live aloha.

Nothing was set up and every one we asked didn't know where field 1 was. Many parents and even coaches were in limbo as where to park, unload and wait. The first game we came to watch was finally set up one minute before game time. The second game 2 hours later had a mixup on fields and no team to challenge. What a mess. The lowest field is actually where we were supposed to be although we checked the middle and highest tiers too. For little kiddies the restroom facilities is a long walk up to the second level. So very glad the rest of the games except one were back at our regular home park where all 3 fields are on the same level: ground. Might be a good place to jog or walk and not sure if dogs are allowed but could be a spacious area to play frisbee or teach your kiddo to throw a football or to practice driving.

They also just repainted the lines so it's easier to park. My kids all play soccer here on Saturdays and we come here to exercise or cardboard slide down the hills. Nice and quiet place to enjoy a plate lunch. Lots of good eats. Forty Niner Restaurant is just a short walk away. 5. Ample parking. I don't face any issue parking here. Other: 1. Like many parks in Hawaii please watch out for theft. Lock your cars and make sure valuables aren't in sight. Signs are posted.

As a pet owner, it provides a nice walk; a long sidewalk along the street and lots of trees and grassy space to run and play. There are two large trash cans, so I implore you - bring POOP bags and dispose of them properly! If you're not a pet owner, there's still lots of things you'll enjoy: plenty of street parking, large shady trees, breezes, watching teams of kids playing soccer or football, families eating lunch on their beach mats or playing a little badminton. I know it sounds a little Norman Rockwell-ish, but it really is a nice park. What you won't enjoy it a RESTROOM, and that's the only reason it doesn't get 5-stars. Everytime my son has tried to play there, there has been urine on a slide, or someone washing themselves in the water fountain. Last time my son was there, there were two people at the edge of the park just snorting stuff off the center console of a car nearest the jungle gym. Neither of them were dangerous people, but it gives you and idea of what to expect. At the end of the day, until the trains and the camps are up and running, this park has just become another homeless shelter. Too bad. The play set is nice and the location is convenient.

My boyfriend and I live close by and will sometimes take my pup, Olaf, on a walk here. The park is surrounded by a fence, has a community center, playground/jungle gym, basketball court, and large open field (perfect for my tiny pup to run around). The area and neighborhood is definitely a little rugged--I highly suggest coming to visit during the day but don't suggest staying too late after the sun goes down. Aside from the occasional homeless that frequent the area, for the most part I would say that this park is safe. During the day, I've recently noticed that the community center has turned into a road test-testing center. Parking is mostly street parking with the exception of 1 handicap stall, and 2 regular parking stall off of Alder Street. The people in this neighborhood definitely care about making their community better and you can definitely tell! There is a lot of pride and love coming from the neighborhood surrounding the park. The house on the corner of Alder and Rycroft Street is also home to a free little library!

There is also a boat launch. - There are a few picnic tables around to sit and eat. - There are fish in the water. We saw them. - Fishing license and park entry permit is only $6 for military and residents, for a whole year. Out of the 12 people with lines in the water, NO ONE caught anything. We were trying all kinds of lures, spinners, bait, etc., during multiple times of the day. Nothing. We met a few other people who had fished there a lot more than we had, and none of them had ever caught anything. Not so great for kids who want to catch something when they fish. - Park opens at 7am. If you want to fish before sunrise, you better find another part of the lake. Bottom Line: I don't think I'll go here again unless I go with a guide, someone who knows the lake VERY well. Since everything is catch and release at this lake, the fun is in the catching, and everyone we ran into that day have never caught anything!

My son loves coming here, we bring a big bag of oats and feed the ducks, chickens, and birds. Be careful though as the birds go CRAZY here. The moment you throw some food, they come flying in droves. Haha so if you are not a bird person, forget bringing feed, haha. Right now there are 3 cute ducklings and a handful of baby chicks. So tiny and cute. The pond also has a bunch of Koi fish and fat tilapias. Great little spot to relax, small picnic, and get some fun feeding animals. Across the street is also a park with a playground and basketball courts.

First review if 2024!…read more I brought my kids here just days after they saw the movie ' Migration'! They absolutely loved being here at the springs, I know, because they didn't even want to leave when I offered to take them to the playground just across the street. They looooved seeing the ducks and koi fish most! The pigeons were a bit much. We had sat in the little bleacher looking area, but had to move because all the pigeons started pooping after some kids fed them... I brought then to the Kunawai Springs specifically because I knew about the ducks, although I hadn't been here before! We had so much fun though! We're doing a 1000 hours outside challenge this year, 2024, so I've been looking into different outdoor activities for our family to partake in! We'll definitely be coming back here, the kids enjoyed it so much. Coming here brought back so much memories for many of our family members. I brought the kiddos here, took lots of pictures, and when I posted them, they all messaged me that they used to all come here when they were younger, and used to even swim I the pond?!?! Anyways, lots of fun! We'll be back!
