6-5-21 E N O R M O U S park that can host several games at one time. Today was our first visit here as it was the last games of the soccer season for both of our grandkiddies. Bud's team and challengers played their hearts out and ran as fast as their little legs could go. Just having their feet make contact with the ball thrilled onlookers. Little Sweetie's team took champs and played two games after a practice practically non stop. Talk about stamina!!! By this age you can see who definitely has skill and the talent of both teams is amazing to watch. There are restrooms at the entrance of the park. The field is vast as it is hot and dry. These things came in handy if you are a spectator: chair, umbrella for shade, sunglasses and perhaps even a hat or visor. Definitely bring a cooler with chilled bottled water as the sun's heat is merciless. Don't forget the sunscreen cuz there are no trees to shade yourself on the perimeter of the playing field. What helped was those water spray bottles to mist your family or if you are fortunate to have an Air Wiz or two that runs on ice with 3 AA batteries to provide some cooler air like an electric fan. This park is well maintained, mowed and appeared rock or pebble free for any bumps or falls to the ground. Glad it was in a residential area with lots of parking. As soon as our soccer games ended with medals and trophies awarded, another set of youngsters were up at bat for their games. Hope all the kiddies stay safe and well as the majority of players and fans were maskless. Hopefully being outdoors in a close contact youth sport helps. read more

Five stars. The Salt Lake Pool is a huge, Olympic sized pool serving the Salt Lake area community and anyone who wants to utilize it. The hours vary, as it'll depend on the season. For the most part, it's not open in the morning hours, but opens up around lunch time on weekdays and has fragmented afternoon and evening hours. They're only open on Saturday afternoons. New schedule should be coming out soon, so I may update this review. The chlorine is very mild to negligible at the Salt Lake Pool compared to an indoor pool on the Mainland, which made my hair sticky and changed my black shorts to green/gray due to the strong chlorine. I really appreciate the mild chlorine in this pool. Hopefully, it's not due to kids peeing (pardon my French) or the rain water, diluting the pool. However, it's great and I like it. There are storage lockers where you can lock up your personal belonging outside, or not. Also, men's and women's changing/restrooms. Parking is very ample and free. Also, this is a FREE POOL! No fees or dues. Can't beat that! read more

In my 30 years of going to this gym I have never been kicked our because a worker didnt show up for work. Thats BS if you ask me! That worker should have stayed and ate that loss for that other person for not showing up. Please dont hire kids if they cant do the job. This is ridiculous. That girl and young kid are horrible. Jason and the old japanese man know the job and aunty cathy and miss jay. Sorry but tjats horrible for business and the Judo people got kicked out as well. read more

This is one of the nicest and biggest parks that I've been to on Oahu. I've only been here a few times for my son's sporting events. They have a huge field for baseball, soccer, flag football, etc. The gym is in good shape with bleachers on only one side of the court. On the inside of the gym, there's a side room that's for karate. Right before you get into a gym, there's a room that's always occupied for yoga and pilates. The best part of this park is the Olympic sized pool. I've never seen a pool so huge in my life. I couldn't even count how many lanes were in that pool. Nice! The two negatives is that there's only one apparatus for the kids to play on and I didn't see any tennis courts. It has a decent amount of parking spaces; more so than a lot of other parks. read more

Such a cute little park. Lots to do in this small little area. This park is located next to Salt Lake Elementary School. Lots of parking in the area, street parking or parking right in the parks parking lot. As you drive in to your right hand side are the rest rooms and a baseball field with a open grassy area for children to run around. You can also have parties here in this area. To the left hand side of this park are the basketball courts, swimming pool, Rec center and a little playground. The playground area is a little run down but good enough for children to still have fun. The basketball courts are always open. The swimming pool has hours for the public to swim (a huge pool). In the rec center on certain weekends they have judo tournaments. Looking for somewhere to have a little picnic with your kids or just to hang out, go visit salt Lake District park. read more

This park has a lot of parking and is great for taking your kids out! Having a nice playground with nice basketball courts is always good to help your kids get much needed exercise. You can bring any type of ball here to keep your kids occupied. Lots of friendly people come here and we will continue to come here as my son grows up. read more

This is probably the worst playground on a public park I've ever seen. The metal is crumbling and rusty, waiting to cut kids and give them diseases. It's coated in graffiti, swear words, and filth. As ghetto as can be. The only positive is the open field behind the (former) baseball areas. read more

Community green space is always nice, isn't it? It's always nice to have some sort of space to hang out during the weekends and have some sort of community engagements throughout the year to make sure that the parks are used as they are intended. I was here on a recent March 2017 weekend when I was poking around the area while playing Pokemon Go on my phone, as recent intelligence gathering on social media had pointed me here. For the most part though, discovering new places and discovering hidden gems within our communities is always a great thing. I hardly come to the Salt Lake neighborhood of 96818, but nice to know that I can come whenever I feel like it. Salt Lake district park is such a great place to hang out and relax. I ended up here on a Sunday morning when there was a a good baseball / softball game being played in the baseball area and that the gym was being utilized as well. There was plenty of people here, along with their kids. It was just a festive atmosphere for the parents, kids, and the community involved. Salt Lake district park isn't that large though. It is well maintained by the good folks at the City and County of Honolulu's Parks and Recreation department. A few trash bins are in the area for your litter and one water fountain I found during my stay here. The grass here is green and there's a bunch of trees here to provide shade for those of us who can't stand too much sunlight at any given time of the day. My stay here at the Salt Lake district park was a good one, yet average at the same time. I tried to find the actual Salt Lake, but as it turned out, it was fenced off by the baseball field. I couldn't peek through the fencing, due to the fact that there was a baseball game going on, so I just meandered through the area trying to find that elusive Pokemon I've been needing. The weather was mildly warm-hot, with temps going up to the mid 80's - as usual for Hawaii weather. There was no real place to sit down, although sitting on the grassy ground was always an option for me, even though you can get your pants dirty. Sitting on the concrete next to the buildings is also an option too, to get away from the midday sun. For the most part though, it was nice to get out here and enjoy the sunshine and breathe the non-toxic fumes of urban Honolulu and the traffic congestion. I spent about a few hours hunting the Pokemon before giving up and walk back to the Salt Lake Shopping Center and TheBus stop for the ride home. The overall experience here at the Salt Lake district park was very calming and peaceful. Much like being at the beach, but no ocean and the salty sea air. Salt Lake district park has areas for basketball courts and they have a pool as well. I didn't dress the part for either, so I would like to make it a point to go back there for either sometime. There are posted pool hours, so best bet would be to find them online for easy access. They also have them posted on the door to the facility too. The park is centrally located at 1159 Ala Lilikoi Place in the heart of the Salt Lake neighborhood. There is parking options for y'all who drive here. Plenty of spaces for y'all who come here for your kid's team practices and sporting events. If you are like me, TheBus route 3 primarily serves the Salt Lake neighborhood from downtown Honolulu, although route 32 also comes here too, but goes back and forth from Pearlridge area. Like all City and County of Honolulu's public parks, admission to this awesome shindig is free. No admission required and that's pretty awesome. Free is always a great thing and usually most people enjoy the open space for many reasons. For me, it was a time to enjoy the weekend and to play Pokemon Go. 5.0 stars for it being a nice place to hang out in on any given day. Park is usually closed from 10pm to 5am, so don't hang around there late at night. No wifi here and not sure about public restrooms though. It's a good option, if you have time to kill on a bored weekend. Support local! A+ read more

Strap on your swim gear and get your ass in motion... at night! Of all the public swimming pools i've been to, this one is definitely my favorite, hidden as it is. The bathrooms are mostly always clean, there's always hot water, and the lifeguards are fun and chill. The pool is open for "night swim" , usually, from 6:30-8:00pm on tuesday and thursdays. for 25m laps with many lanes open. It can get crowded during hte summer but it's wayyyy less crowded during the fall/winter times because it does get a little cold and dark. So bring post-swim warm clothes...or face the ball-crushing coldness! Not good if you plan to take a date there ;) The location is unique in that its next to the "mountain" red hill so there's always a cool down draft and since it's slight outside the main city you can float in the water and look up at the stars. read more

This park is a hidden park from the general public. Sports team use this park for practice and games. There is a large swimming pool and kids pool. An old playground and basketball court. An indoor Rex center for martial arts, indoor basketball and so on. read more

Its been a while since I played basketball so a friend of mine and I decided to play near his house in Salt Lake. Im not from the area so I wasnt familiar with the recreation center, but Im glad he introduced it to me! The recreation center is pretty huge, there are like 5 outdoor basketball courts and an inside gym with some short courts. The pool is huuuge and was surprisingly empty for a hot saturday, life guards were on duty, though they couldnt have been more than 15. My friend and I started to just shoot around then predictably two young high schoolers approach us and ask us to play, so we obliged. Nice kids but they were out of their league, first game wasnt even close, my friend and I split up the next game to make it more competitive. My friend and I figured we'd better beat them good now cause we could remember being their age and getting trounced, right of passage I guess. A little while later four more teens show up and ask us to run 4's. At this point my legs are shot and Im exhausted but I did my best to hide it. Never again will I go to the gym before playing basketball. We ran full court for about 4 games and my knee was pissed. But it was so much fun, the teens were all good kids and we chatted a bit after the game and it brought back memories of my youth when I had no responsibilities could play all day. Im thankful I rediscovered my enjoyment of the game. This is a recreation center is a great asset to have in the community, its clean spacious and if I were a kid I could spend all day here. Although I question the abilities of the life guards, they couldnt have weight more than a large bag of rice. read more

I love this park. It's perfect for playing baseball, there's a basketball court, a little playground, a pool, you can run, I mean it ALMOST has everything. I love going here to jog/walk (I am not a runner). I hate jogging on a treadmill it feels so much better to exercise outside with fresh air. It also has a good vibe and I feed off that. I'm a family girl so I like seeing families there enjoying their time. I live near the Target and my friend introduced me to this place and I fell in love with it so anytime I feel like going for a workout outside instead of the gym this is where I go. read more

This review is mostly for the pool. great The olympic size pool is very big and water is usually pretty cold Right next to that pool is a kiddie pool that is usually much warmer. My three year old can walk with his head above the water through her whole kiddie pool. The deepest is three feet. My only complaint is that kids are NOT allowed to wear any type of arm floaties. So my three year old (who can swim perfect with arm floats) has to swim with me, stay on the stairs or be in the kiddie pool. This is VERY INCONVENIENT for adults who want to swim and not have to monitor their kids the whole time. Another inconvenience is that both adults and children cannot wear face masks that cover their noses. Only eye goggles. So pretty much everything fun is not allowed in this pool. Maybe if they made everybody who came in sign a legal agreement stating they would not try to sue the community center if anything happened while wearing floaties or face goggles that would work better, instead of not letting kids or adults wear floaties or face masks at all. People go to public pools to have fun! Not be limited to what helps people swim (kids especially). read more

Very nice playground with lots of parking and restrooms nearby. There's a pool close to a huge playground and a basketball court with at least 6 or more hoops. It's a great place for the family to spend a few hours. The only thing is I wish there was more seating areas where there is shade. The only bench I saw was under the sun and where there was a lot of shade there were no tables or benches. That would be nice to have for parents sitting and watching their kids play or for parents with younger children who want to hang out and sit in the shade for a while. Overall it's a very nice park.
