Safe, clean neighborhood park. Dugout for ohana to watch the game in some shade and shelter. Restrooms in walkable distance from the field. Enough space for several teams to meet over snacks. Today was the last game of their first season as a new team. It started to pour as earlier the rainbow signaled. Luckily no other group decided to have their after game pizza party in the pavilion. Initially the boys ran directly to the play equipment after the game while it drizzled before coming in to grab their pizza, chips, cookies, water or juice etc. Great in town location. One tip to earn the last star: have a couple more trash cans or have one employee to oversee and remove overfilled ones during the weekends ie this weekend the team had Saturday and Sunday games. I absolutely love this park. I've been coming here ever since childhood and still pass by every now and then when I go running. They have multiple amenities such as; tennis courts, a swimming pool, basket courts, and much more. I love how they have a huge parking lot for frequent park-goers and lots of field space too. This park is the perfect setting to have a picnic with your significant other, friends, or family. The park is also very clean and well maintained! However, the only thing I would say is to watch out if you happen to visit when it's raining! The park does get a little muddy, so prepare for that when planning picnics or get togethers! Overall, Beautiful place to go for a walk or jog! The park is not that loud too, so it's pretty peaceful when passing by. read more

It's been years since I've been to the Manoa Valley District Park. Back in my young boi dayz, I used to come here when I played park league basketball, as we had games in the old gym. In my college dayz, my buddies & I would come here every so often to play tennis, as this particular park has a lot of tennis courts, as well as a few outdoor basketball courts, & a very large swimming pool. Finding parking is not an issue here, as the Manoa Valley District Park has a pretty sizable parking lot on both sides of the park entrances. I came here the other day, as I was helping a friend fix something on her car, and after I was done, I decided to take my furry son to the park so he could explore...........now don't get me wrong, the sign at the park says "NO ANIMALS", but Makana is not an animal..........he is a family member! No worries, I made sure he was on a leash (although he knows better to stick with me), and of course should he needed to use the bathroom, I made sure I brought my bags. Lol! A beautiful well kept park, and I must commend the City & County of Honolulu for doing a good job with the upkeep of this public park. read more

First time coming to this park, its very big and clean the people here are ready friendly. I'm from Ewa so this is a change of scenery there are so many sports that play here. Manoa Valley Park has everything you could ask for. Lots of open park space, baseball fields, a community garden, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, a jungle gym, and even a pool. Everything seems to be well maintained. The park has a lot of parking available in 2 different parking lots with separate street entrances. It's adjacent to what appears to be some type of elderly housing, as well as Manoa Elementary School. Just a couple items worth mentioning regarding COVID, things seem to be back to normal and if anything it looks more crowded than it was before. All of the water fountains are still shut off, so make sure to bring refreshments. read more

We frequent Manoa Park. It's close to our house and is in a nice area. They also maintain the area and jungle gym which we appreciate as parents (we've been to some parks that I don't feel comfortable letting our kids play, because they are fall apart). It can get pretty crowded, especially during baseball season. They also have a community garden that our kids love the walk through and admire. Manoa is a lush area, it usually sprinkles or has passing showers, which can some times put a damper on our park dates, but it's definitely a park my family prefers. read more

This is probably the park that we frequent the most. It has everything! There are two gyms, a recreational room for Zumba in the evenings, an Olympic-size (I think) pool, tennis and basketball courts, clean bathrooms with toilet paper AND soap at both the gym and pool, and a separate toilet facility near the baseball fields (four total, one for each age division), a community garden, and a lot of grass for kids to run amok in. There are three good-sized parking options around the park. I feel this is one of the safer parks to let kids play without worrying about sketchy people. The crowds are more wholesome than at other parks. Depending on the season, the park gets really crowded because of baseball games and swim meets. The park is also next to Manoa School, which has playgrounds that technically aren't open to the public but people bring their kids here to play on them anyway. This park also offers the Summer Fun program but you'll have to camp overnight to hope for a spot!! read more

On a hot humid Sunday afternoon, we love the wind so we can cool off while taking the dog for a walk. Many of my business school's clubs have orientation picnics here, because it's a lot easier to find parking and the specific spots than Magic Island. There's three parking lots around the park, and there's also a swimming pool, basketball court, tennis court, and baseball field. What's not to love about Manoa Valley District Park (MVDP)? This place basically raised me. For as long as I can remember, MVDP has been an icon of Manoa Valley--from pop warner cheerleading days for the Manoa Paniolos to swimming lessons at the pool and summer fun with the parks and rec, I've done it all. To say that that this park has helped to shape who I am today would be an understatement. As a child, I spent many afternoons after school playing and running around this huge park to working one of my first jobs here as a summer fun leader. This park is great. Resourceful, fun, clean, and safe! It's home to an Olympic sized swimming pool, large open grass field, multiple baseball fields, two gyms, multiple outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, and a rec. center. I often take my Sunday morning runs from Kahala Mall to Manoa Marketplace, which is about 4 miles. Round trip is 8 miles. On one Sunday, I took it further and seeing Manoa Valley District Park. It was a quick quaint jaunt up East Manoa Road and left turn on Kahaloa Drive to the eastern side of Manoa Valley District Park. About 0.5 mile one way, or 1 mile round trip to add to my already long run already. Still, it was a nice new way to explore the neighborhood and to check out new places that I haven't been to before. I arrived here around 8am, the day had warmed up and it was a nice morning. The streets were somewhat quiet, since it was Sunday morning in Manoa. There was a flutter of activity here. Plenty of cars were parked here and some people were getting out of their cars to do whatever they needed to do. During my experience here at Manoa Valley District park, I meandered through to the western side of the park, adding to my already long distance run even further. That was okay, I was exploring. It was nice to see that the grounds were well nourished and there was green foliage all over the park. Manoa is amazing and awe inspiring this way. The park itself was quite extensive, but small enough to be condensed in a way and hugged around a residential area in upper Manoa. The Manoa stream runs thru the area too, but on its eastern edge. You could really spread out and feel your soul. The overall experience here at the Manoa Valley District Park can be categorized as comfy, positive, and quite soothing. It is nice to be in the majestic Manoa Valley and the park itself provides an ample venue to experience such flora and fauna all in one beautiful landscape. I spent about an hour here before returning to the UH Manoa Campus and eventually back to my starting point, but it was awesome and amazing to make that extra trip here to Manoa Valley District Park while it was early enough to enjoy it when Hawaii was still waking up. There are some facilities here, although not so much. It was nice to see that they have restroom facilities for anyone and everyone to use while they were here. There's a high powered gymnasium that's pretty awesome for team sports. There's also playground equipment on the grounds as well. For the most part though, I amused and entertained myself thru seeing all the greenery around me in the park. The phrase "Lucky you live Hawaii" applies to Manoa Valley and Manoa Valley District Park. It's definitely peaceful and you don't need to worry about the homeless here, since I don't think there is an issue. Come on down if you are in the area. It's quiet and peaceful. Manoa Valley District Park is located off East Manoa Road, you can enter through Lowery Avenue, Kahaloa Drive, Olopua Street, and its next to Manoa Elementary School. Majority of the park is the large baseball field and it has its own private parking lot for anyone and everyone to come here and enjoy the wide open spaces. Like all community parks, there's no admission fee charged here, so you can roam as you please - within legal means. For myself though, if you travel here by bus, you can expect to be on route either route 5 or 6, but route 6 travels on East Manoa Road, whereas route 5 doesn't. Regardless on how you get here, consider coming here to Manoa Valley District Park. It's away from the urban sprawl that is Honolulu, but close enough to grab lunch or dinner and enjoy yourself here in Manoa on a lazy weekend or even after a tough day at the office. This is one of my favorite and most visited parks on Oahu. Nestled in the middle of Manoa Valley, there are three entrances and parking lots around the park. On the Ewa side is the main parking lot with access to the rec buildings and pool. The heated pool is free to the public and open for free swims and lap swims at designated hours. They have many activities for all ages. There are tennis courts, basketball courts, indoor and outdoor restrooms, baseball diamonds, and big grassy areas. The park runs along the Manoa Stream, so kids can even play in the water. A small dog park is near the baseball areas and many people walk their dogs around the perimeter of the park. The whole area is kept exceptionally clean. There are trash cans around. As opposed many other parks, there aren't many picnic areas for big gatherings here. It's usually very quiet and open here, perfect to enjoy being outside. read more

My mom used to bring us to this park all the time to swim when we were kids. I always enjoyed the pool as a child. I remember having fun memories on the swings. I came to visit today with my young child. The pool was open. There was a play structure in the back but not much else. The grass was overgrown, there was a litter on the ground. This park has so many things going for it: 2 gyms, swimming pools for adults and keiki, dog park, Manoa stream, tennis courts, basketball courts, covered pavilion, and a host of community-based classes for all ages. Being located in the back of Manoa Valley, this park is the epitome of green and lush. You'll find all kinds of sports games and practices here throughout the year. One of the areas which is less utilized, because it's somewhat hidden from park view is the green top area between the Manoa Elementary School cafeteria and the backside of the newer gym. It's perfect for rollerblading, teaching keiki how to ride a bike, scooters or even skateboarding. Many people utilize the gyms, and because there's outdoor lights on the basketball/volleyball courts and 5 tennis courts you get a lot of nighttime use as well. Check the weather and plan ahead because Manoa rains (showers and downpours) a lot. There's ample parking above the gyms, next to the south pavilion and east fields. Awesome park! read more

Came here for Football a couple Saturdays for my son. Lots of parking and lots of different fields. The place is huge. It's pretty clean. Beautiful views of the mountain range. That was one of things I really enjoyed there as I stayed at this field on average 4hrs a Saturday each time we went. read more

Marc Koga is FANTASTIC! He is very friendly and patient with everyone he interacts with! Doesn't matter if you are young kindergarteners or mature seniors, he treats us with kindness! This is the second year I have attended his Haku Lei making class. It's Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 3-5pm for the last 2 weeks in April. Just in time for May Day at Kapiolani Park. He has all the materials prepped and ready for all his students. He even has many volunteers and other park staff members to help us with the lesson after he has taught all of us! I really like that it is hands on! He teaches us all the different Haku Lei Making Methods in which we can practice! It is so nice seeing the kids are so creative & not inhibited. The adults can follow the steps but are more cautious. Everyone is so encouraging, helping & offering alot of tips. Tennis courts Basketball courts Baseball fields Gym Clean, plenty of trees and shade. Restrooms always clean. Boys enjoy checking out the small stream catching crayfish. Came here for a church youth night and i cant believe i havent been here before. such a nice park!!!!! theres a basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court and a BIG field with a gym attached to it. they literally have EVERYTHING! and its suuuuper clean, neat and with nice green grass. perfect for sports and games. I would def come here again. i havent been in the gym though. next time i'd def try to go and look. too bad it rained on us. and i mean storming, hard rain. the weather there is always rainy & cloudy not really on the sunny side. but overall, such a legit park! perfect for walking dogs & to bring your kids. read more

I drove to the small parking lot that fronts the pool and luckily, there were two spots open (there was a baseball/softball game ongoing)! I could see from a distance that there was a lock on the gate but decided to investigate further since I had a very eager little girls with me who was dying for a swim in the pool! There was no sign ... no explanation as to why the pool was closed on a scheduled "open" day. How disappointing. I called 988-0580 to check what was going on and was told that the pool is projected to be closed for the entire 2017 summer due to construction of the old gym close by. I was instructed to call in early August to get a more definite date as to when it might reopen. There is no sign at the gate stating this. Why? I guess because the staff likes phone calls? read more

8.10.13. When I was younger I was not a fan of this park. Maybe it's because I always used to play in the older gym--old, run down & dirty! But, it has been nice to see how much this place has changed & how much things are the same. The rennovation of the newer gym space has allowed for more open gym space & has significantly increased my liking of this park. If anything, what sets this district park apart from the rest is the fact that it's so big! Facilities include two gyms, swimming pool, tennis courts & a baseball/softball field. While most of my time has been spent in the gym (thus explaining my original dislike of this park), I do see why so many families and people enjoy coming here. Nestled in the heart of Manoa Valley, the district park is a fantastic one to visit if you happen to be going for a game, swim, or simply just to hang out and get some physical activity in. It is one of the more popular parks in the system and it can get busy on weekends with a variety of children's sports going on, however it is well maintained and there is definitely plenty of room to roam or get your outdoor time in. Parking is generally plentiful and there is ample street parking nearby that you can always take advantage of. The bathrooms are generally clean and well maintained, especially given its age. The park includes baseball/softball fields, soccer field, basketball courts, tennis courts, and the recreation center. I got to take my 9mo old puppy to Manoa park recently and love that there is a "pack" of dogs that regularly meet up here. He (the dog) loved running around with the other dogs and got his exercise in without having to go on a normal "boring" walk. I used to come to the pool a lot before I started Yelping for swim meets. I hold this park above most others on Oahu. There may be some bias in this review given that i grew up in Manoa and most of my childhood memories were made at this park. I've seen this park develop and expand for the better over the years and I will always hold a special place in my heart for this place. The facilities here include basketball and tennis courts, a large indoor basketball gym, pool, baseball fields, walking path for dog walkers, community garden, event pavilion, and playground equipment for the kids. There is plenty of parking in the upper lots near the tennis courts, near the pool and gym, in the side lot near the pavilion and baseball field, and also behind near the community gardens. Pool hours and open swim times vary (I would check the hours on the gate), and I believe the entire park locks up at a reasonable hour. You can reserve a space at the basketball courts for at least 2hrs., however it's a good idea to follow up with park management more than one time to ensure you have your reservation locked in. There's so much that goes on at this particular park. A lot of sporting events, practices, craft fairs, after-school activities, picnics and family get-togethers...the list goes on. I feel like this park is pretty safe and I particularly enjoy exercising here because it is in the valley and the temperatures don't get too humid. The facilities have gotten an upgrade and are well-kept. The grass is maintained regularly and tbh there really isn't a whole lot of defacement that goes on here. The Manoa community really love this space, and care about maintaining it for future generations. A great place to take your family, spend a little quiet time with yourself, or get a good workout in. read more

This is a good-sized park that offers baseball fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, gym, and swimming pool. I like going there to swim. It has a 50-meter pool and is open on some evenings (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) for lap swim. A big bonus is that they have hot showers! It gets crowded on weekends. We bring our dogs here to play, as many other owners do, but I'm getting tired of the people on golf carts going around telling everyone to put their dogs on leash. Why not fix the problem and make a large fenced areas for the dogs to run off leash since this is what the people want? Everyone wants a real dog park that allows dogs off leash, and will continue letting their dogs off leash until that happens. Stop fighting reality and being close-minded. Time for forward progress.
