I've come to Sheridan Community Park a few times over the course of my Yelp life and I gotta say that it is a nice park to come to - during certain times of the day. Other times, especially at night, it can be quite ghetto.
More often than not, Sheridan community park has been a hidden keepsake in the urban Honolulu area for decades now. It's had a place for people to come to whenever the summers became too hot and the winters became just right for locals to come and play before darkness set in at 5pm. While it can be a place where crime can brew and just overall weirdness can occur at night, it's like that anywhere you go. Just go to the park with your family or friends during the day and you should be fine. I've been at Sheridan community park multiple times throughout my life here in Honolulu. With the launch of the mobile game Pokémon Go, I found myself here on more than one occasion playing with friends and that's always good. For the most part though, I enjoyed myself here while playing the game. It is almost like being in someone's yard. It is a big yard with some gym equipment for young kids to play with. There is also some park benches for people to sit on and have a small picnic. It is your stereo typical park that brings the community together. You can have small functions here on any given day, however alcohol and illegal activity is usually prohibited. Just enjoy park, enjoy the benefits of being away from there been concrete jungle, and you'll be fine.
One time I was being for my friend here at the Sheridan community park and I got to know the part pretty well sitting here for the past 20 minutes. The traffic was humming and it was pretty cool just to people watch sitting in their cars. I spent the time doing that while writing reviews on my phone. Starbucks is usually go to place for writing reviews and just general hang out, Skamania parks is my second choice because the venue is also free and usually inspiration comes to me more freely. I got to write about a couple of reviews before my friends came last time I was here to play Pokémon Go. The overall experience here at Sheridan community Park was as good as you can - each time i come here. Because it is a community park, is definitely free. Free admission to Rome and just be yourself outside work and school. It is definitely a full case of release of stress when you need it most. Aside from the beach, Community parks have to place and providing a venue to residence and visitors to just spend their time and enjoy life to the fullest. I myself have spent a few times here and can attest to that. It was nice to have drafted a few reviews here for yelp and plan on a few more thereafter. Sheridan community park is located off the main drag: Piikoi Street and South King Street. There is street parking but there's also located near the major bus routes.
Bus routes 1 and 2 are a couple of the main bus routes that come through the area. Routes 3 and 9 come through the area, but you'd have to walk from Kapiolani Blvd, whereas 1 and 2 come from S King Street, if you were going east bound and N Beretania Street westbound. It felt like being in someone's backyard a bit more than a community park though. I usually spend about 1 hour here before moving on with my day. Usually once every month unless I'm traveling. I'm glad that there is usually not a problem with the homeless or just problems in general. Those are the worst since they usually make people avoid the area if there is a problem or a recent event that makes people leery of returning to the area. For me though, I usually try to come here during the day and I'm okay with that. Sheridan community park is maintained by the good folks of the city and county of Honolulu, which is good, and people who are users of the park. It's usually clean and the picnic benches can be dirty after use, so be mindful of that if you decide to use the benches for meals or just about anything else.
While community parks promote nature, community inclusiveness, and general well-being, it's good to be here away from the traffic and being in the urban clutter. I'd recommend coming here, if you are in the area for a breather and to de-stress from life. 5.0 stars for the overall experience.
