My in-laws catered from Wah Feng for lunch. They bought a lobster dish, a fish dish, two pork dishes, sweet and sour shrimp, empress shrimp, rice, congee, a beef dish, string beans, Cantonesse flat rice noodle, and a beef dish. The shrimp was still very crispy after being brought home. The beef had a very good flavor to it. Overall, the food quality was very good. This makes me want to go back and try more of the menu in the store.

For its category, consider this small and local Chinese takeout only (with a couple of tables to dine in) decent for its fair price and food service. If there was nothing memorable I would have give the usual 3 stars, but it gets 4 stars from me because they consistently have one of the BEST hot and sour soup I've ever tasted. The soup itself is hot and spicy (as it should be hence, the name), and is flavorful and iwith the right ingredients. I always go for the large for a bit more to make the trip worth it, $4.25. Oh and be careful, the soup is always piping hot so you can burn yourself. But that just tells me they have it on the stove and always is freshly made. I always come back here for the soup... mmm mmm good! Believe it or not, nor every place can make great soups and for me, soups says a lot about a place. I'm sure there are some hits and misses on the menu and I can't acclaim to all of them. But I can recommend the Szechuan Shrimp, $6.35, which is a L24 lunch special that comes with an egg roll. I've had that a couple of times and it has not disappoint. The portion is huge for the dollar. The fried rice (with green beans and corn) is plenty and is moist. They have fresh veggies (green bell peppers, broccoli) in their entrees (baby corn and water chestnuts are canned) and the shrimp is huge (you get about 5 pieces) which to me is better than getting the tiny itty bitty ones. Plus, their shrimp doesn't smell. Some Asian places have used shrimp that has a very bad water odor, rbis place does not have that in their shrimp. So for a quick bite (they do cook food very fast so your wait shouldn't be long), this place is a great solution for when you are in the area and looking for some quick Chinese takeout. I spent almost $12 for an individual entree and a large soup that will leave me with at least 1 more meal for leftovers. I'm happy with it and I've been back for more.

Fast and fairly priced -- but that's about the only positive comment I can make. The food is fairly bland as what others have noted -- without much refinement put into textures or colors or shapes or flavor. I tried the General Tsos Chicken and Orange Beef here. With both dishes, I was really unable to tell what the theme was. They were doused in thick gravy, but this didn't translate to a lot of flavor. One positive note though is that they seemed to put effort into using fresh ingredients (chilis, jalapenos, honey, etc.) to flavor their food -- but there really wasn't a lot of flavor that was extracted from this. Both batters were very soft, meat was cut unevenly, and there was no sear to dishes to create some "wok hay". While it is true that Deerfield lacks good choices of Americanized Chinese options, it's worth driving a few more miles to Palatine, Arlington Heights, or Schaumburg with better choices.

Don't let this hole in a wall look fooled, it's a legit place for good basic Chinese food. Because of pandemic, they offer curbside pick up ! They are very careful with food handling to make sure it's safe and healthy. They have a separate WeChat only menu that offers more authentic Chinese dishes. I like that they can reduce sodium and oil if you specify upon ordering. Judy, the owner is very friendly and willing to cater to your needs! Give them a try with this hidden gem !

Food is fine. I recommend it. Ordering for delivery over the internet is another story. Hopefully they will get their software figured out.

Everyone should take notice of how they wait tables. The owner was very polite and friendly Ambience is fine too but I'd have preferred less bright at dinner time but that's just me. Plenty of parking Cons Only one small complaint. And it is the same in every Chinese restaurant I've ever eaten in. The beef is always too mushy/tenderized. Not that I want it to be impossible to chew like skirt steak, but I prefer it less mushy. I recommend this place highly and I will certainly be back.

It was exactly what I needed. He and I chatted a bit and he found out I'm staying at a hotel this week and loaded my bag with more tea, a can of soda and some suckers. Sure made me feel better. Not only was Daniel amazing, so was the food. This is now a got-to place every time I come to Wheeling. Thank you Daniel, your kindness and delicious food, turned my whole day around.

After Golden Chef closed, we waited a very long time for a worthy Chinese restaurant to take its place. Yu's Mandarin shows promise of becoming just that. So far, we've only tried their takeout. There were a couple of times we considered celebrating special occasions there, but we were disappointed to learn they didn't serve whole chickens or whole fish, which are essential dishes for traditional Chinese celebrations. Because of that, we held off on dining in. Thankfully, they now offer whole fish. Although it's on the pricier side, it's a step in the right direction and gives us hope that Yu's Mandarin could become a place for future family gatherings. For now, this review is based on our takeout experience. Vivian, who also speaks Cantonese, was knowledgeable and friendly over the phone. She answered our questions with confidence and helped us navigate the menu. On occasions when a younger staff member struggled with menu details, speaking with Vivian made a big difference. According to my husband, who picked up the orders, the parking lot is quite small, and parking can be a bit tricky. As for the food itself, it's been a mix of hits and misses. The Crabmeat and Velvet Corn Soup was a standout, smooth, flavorful, and reminiscent of what you'd find at a high-quality Chinatown restaurant. The Double Pan-Fried Noodles with Seafood was my favorite: crispy noodles, generous portions of fresh seafood, and a well-balanced sauce. On the other hand, the Garlic Chicken lacked garlic flavor and the chicken was not tender enough. Yang Chow Fried Rice is listed as "Mixed Meat Fried Rice" on the menu, was bland and short on ingredients. Despite a few missteps, we are happy to have what seems to be an authentic Chinese restaurant close to home. We are looking forward to dining in soon and trying more items from their menu. With some consistency and continued improvements, Yu's Mandarin could truly become a neighborhood favorite.

My wife, her mom, and I were in Chicago to remember my father-in-law's death anniversary, and my sister-in-law chose Chef Ping's, for our party of nine for a Wednesday lunch. Parking is plentiful and the dining area can seat a lot. We got seated at a large round table in the back room, with a large lazy susan (just need to remember to spin it very slowly). We ordered a lot, and the food came out slowly. There was plenty of leftovers for the local folks to have for future meal or two. 3 Shrimp Toast (6 pieces each) - $26.85 - greasy but good, with the shrimp paste being a little sweet (in a good way) Noodle in Black Bean Sauce ($12.50) - this is jja jang myeon, which two of us had the previous night. It was OK, not near the top of the best I've had. Ping's Noodle Soup ($15.50) - the other classic Chinese-Korean dish, this is jjampong, a dish I've had many times. I was the only one to eat it, so ended up being my main dish. It was good, with thick noodles...just wish it had more seafood. Salt & Pepper Smelt ($16.90) - not sure if always available, but this was excellent...my favorite dish and one that I finished once I realized that everybody had their fill. It really depends on the quality of the smelt, which was excellent in this case. It was lightly battered, and carefully deep fried. Other dishes enjoyed by others: 2 Salt & Pepper Prawns - $35.90 - large head-on shell-on prawns fire wokked. Salt & Pepper Tofu ($11.50) - for the vegetarians Chicken Skewers (4) - $8.75 - tender and shareable Walnut Shrimp ($19.90) - mayo with shrimp Young Chow Fried Rice ($12.50) - fried rice is a necessity for our group Mongolian Beef ($17.50) - a classic 2 Sesame Ball (4) - $7 - a great way to finish a meal. 18% tip was automatically added, and service was OK throughout. Our water was kept refilled, and I think hot water was as well. It was a good meal and opportunity to get back together

Both the service and quality of food has gone way down from what they were famous for. The waitress spilled my tea, also dipped her finger in my tea, had no apology or offer to exchange it with a fresh cup. I had to ask her for a fresh cup of tea. Then the other server that brought our entrees spilled my husbands tea and again no offering to getting a fresh cup. We had to ask AGAIN for a fresh cup! While the portions were generous, the quality of all the food has gone way down. The special family recipe of thier shrimp dish Gan Pong is nothing but fried shrimp with dried chili peppers and no flavor. The Hunan spicy beef and chicken appeared to be all globs and sticky because of excessive and over use of corn starch used during the cooking process. This dish didn't have any unique flavor that one would expect. Previously we had experienced a difference in the food, taste and quality and that's what kept us returning. Sadly, after this experience I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or come back! I'd rather stick with Yu's Mandarin than drive to this place! Quality always wins over quantity in my books!

It's been a tough lately since our go to place changed ownership and the quality declined. Hong Kong Restaurant is a small, family owned restaurant in the same strip mall as the Ace Hardware. It's a take out only restaurant, no tables and no seating. The lady is so nice. I called ahead asking how her General Tso's was made with brown sauce or if it was an orange type of sauce. She gave me a good description and mentioning it had some spice to it, but not offensive. It was exactly what my husband wanted. It wasn't overly breaded and the sauce was sweeter, savory with a little heat. He was a happy man. The fried rice had plenty of chicken and cooked well. The portions were huge! I also ordered beef and broccoli Cantonese chow mein. This was delicious! There was so much beef and broccoli, the sauce wasn't salty and went perfect with the chow mein noodles. We ordered egg rolls and crab rangoons too. Both we were good. The wrapper was a little thicker than I prefer, but they were both good. I'm looking forward to trying other dishes on their menu like their egg foo yung. No pics ... hungry teenaged boys dove into the food right away.
