A bit different from the other local Cantonese style chinese restaurants (other than, everything is cooked Cantonese style, regardless of what cuisine is listed on the menu). The food is really more homestyle than it is flavorful, junky fast-food style. Prices are slightly higher than other places but they do attempt to use more fresh vegetables and fewer canned ones (except in the case where it's impractical to use fresh items). The style is probably the closest to old Chinatown flavor you'll find out here (which I'm not saying is necessarily the best, but is harder to find now with more Pan-Asian and Northern Style restaurants replacing Cantonese style ones as they close). I don't particularly recommend any special items here and they're pretty solid overall regardless of meat type or listed cuisine. But, definitely try to stick to more traditional Cantonese style items for the best flavor.

The Kung Pao chicken was also super tasty if you like a bit of a kick you might want to ask for some extra spice next time. We also really enjoyed the shrimp fried rice and those yummy egg rolls you get two per order. Just a heads up though the portions for dine in felt a tad on the smaller side especially for the sesame chicken. On the service front it was a bit hit or miss. We found ourselves with empty drink glasses for quite a while and it seemed like the staff mainly came by to take our order and drop off the food. However, there was a really sweet young kid at the register who was super helpful and friendly he definitely brightened things up. Finding the place can be a bit of an adventure. It's tucked away in a cozy corner right next to the grocery store so you really only spot it once you've parked. Oh and a quick tip make sure you don't mix it up with the Korean restaurant nearby. A couple of minor bummer moments the chicken lo mein wasn't quite what we hoped for. The noodles were super thin and crunchy rather than the thicker, chewier kind we expected and sadly they were out of egg drop soup that day which was a shame. Despite a few little things the delicious food definitely makes it worth checking out.

They also included a (huge) veggie egg roll and hot tea which was great! The portion size was a lot larger than what I was expecting... Which is awesome! The restaurant was packed, everyone knows a good deal when they see it. They had lots of people stopping in and picking up orders too. Will definitely be back!

To clear things up about their dining area, they have 2 small tables outside and 1 small and 2 big tables inside. Small tables - 2 chairs. Big tables - 4 chairs. On weekdays, you don't need to make a reservation. On the weekends due to their limited dine in area, I would recommend a reservation to be safe. You can make a reservation through Google/Yelp or phone call. Parking is easy since it's in a strip mall. There is also a 3% charge if you use plastic. Just a note, I tried looking at their food pictures on their website, but it kind of runs slow. Sometimes it would freeze. I think they need to fix it. I would return here to try other items. I would highly recommend ordering off their Malaysian menu instead of the miscellaneous. Don't order orange chicken or General Tao's chicken. Very cringe because you can get that literally anywhere. Get the Malaysian food because it's hard to find in Illinois. The owner is very sweet and the service is attentive. We ordered lor bak, nasi lemak, Hainanese chicken rice, hokkien mee, and kuih talam. Just a FYI, the portions are very generous. For 2 people, I would recommend ordering 2 dishes. Prices are reasonable for what you get. A pot of tea is $6. -lor bak 5 - I highly recommend this appetizer. It has crispy pork sausage with shrimp fritters, beancurd, and cucumber. It comes with two sauces. Everything was delicious. -nasi lemak 5 - I love the chicken rendang. The meat is very tender and it has a deep flavor. You can taste the spices that went into it. -Hainanese chicken rice 3.5 - I gave Penang Malaysian Cuisine a 4 because the rice was delicious. HD's version, the rice was not as moist and flavorful. The chicken was not bad, it's about the same as Penang's. It could be a bit more succulent without the sauces. -hokkien mee 4 - this won't be as tasty as in Malaysia. I liked the big pieces of shrimp, an adequate amount of sliced pork and hard boiled egg. The broth is still very good. If it's your first time having this, I still recommend it. -kuih talam 5 - I would suggest this if you like pandan. It's not sweet. It has a soft and bouncy texture.

I really appreciated that the containers were filled to the brim-- in fact, the flaps of the BBQ Pork Fried Rice container were stapled together but barely being held together with rice busting through! Needless to say we were happy with the large portions given. The Teriyaki chicken stick looked crispy and well seasoned, but was disappointing how dry and hard to swallow it was. The BBQ pork fried rice was a family favorite with no leftovers and was the first to be completely devoured. The second favorite was the Beef Canto Noodles. When first served, the noodles were crispy but got soggy real quick bc of the gravy from the beef & veggie that was poured and mixed into the pan fried noodles. The service was good. I really appreciated how our order was packed. Everything was neatly placed into a box or tied tightly in a plastic carryout bag. It made it easy to transport and bring home without any spills and kept warm. This place is great for delivery/take out. The restaurant was small, with walls lined with metals shelves filled with cases of soda. Also a small section of bamboo plants for sale. definitely a simple, quick, place to pick up food for large groups. It was good value for the price.

We called immediately to make the staff aware, thinking there was an error when filling the order and were told we received correct sized portions. I'm happy to report the Manager did eventually agree to replace the 3 entrees we indicated were undersized portions; however, maintained their position that the portions we received were their standard sizes.
