Fried chicken glither's, barbecue brisket and burnt ends.
Vika S.

(First off, I would like to apologize that I am now just getting to this, i never forgot, life has just been chaotic.) On an amazing note, This place is out of this world. I have watched them build this from scratch and have passed by it on my way to sangamore safeway many, many, many times. My husband and I finally, for the first time decided to stopped by and give this place a try and it was the best decision we had ever made!! Their food and they're barbecue, is just out of this world. You can taste the amazing taste of all their BBQ options and how much love and effort these people put behind their barbecue. But it's not just the way they cook their BBQ, it's the way they go about making their Barbecue. It's the fine details of cooking, preparering and craftsmanship of their barbecue that speaks volumes. From the juiciness that seep out, when you first look at the meat and how the barbecue looks, to the slow heating process and how the juices run off and the meat falls off the bone, to the coloration of their BBQ meats and the smell that the Barbecue gives out, making you excited with eager anticipation of waiting for that first bit, to the final conclusion of everything coming together when you put your mouth to the very fist bite! Then how everything blends perfectly together, as if fireworks of flavor just went off in your mouth after you finally sit down and get to enjoy what you have been waiting for. The staff is super friendly, The environment is fun and peaceful, yet outgoing. They have outdoor and indoor seating, wonderful to have as the weather changes and because my husband and I tried the barbecue for the first time, the cook behind this amazing barbecue, gave us a free side order of their brisket, which i've never had until I came to this place. We also ended up ordering burnt ends on a roll and fried chicken gizzards which pairs wonderful with their own selection of Draft beers. They have an inside deli, selection of delicious deli meats, cheeses, sandwiches, chips, and so much more. They also have an arrangements of other foods and side dishes as well, if your wanting something small. You can also get amazing variety of desserts that they offer and I highly recommend. Honestly, if you haven't tried this location for their barbecue, you are definitely missing out. And if you're like me constantly passing by this place, don't wait another second. I've been to many wagshal's locations and by far this is our go to spot. This location will forever be our Top number one. We can't wait to go back when the weather starts getting a little warmer to fully sit outside and enjoy some more amazing barbecue. Many, many thanks to the staff and the head barbecue chef that makes this all possible. 10 stars from my husband and myself.

Two for $10 All Day. Served all day. Complete nonsense. I was charged $16 for two. And was told I had ordered wrong.

a variety of cakes and pastries

If you live in Spring Valley or AU Park, this is a wonderful little market to visit. It has nice produce, meat / seafood counters, and great assortment of indulgent cakes and other pastries. Yes, you could always go to the nearby Safeway or Giant for cheaper groceries. But the friendliness of staff makes this market extra special and the ease of parking makes the trip worth it. For hot bar food and other pantry staples, you can also hop over to the deli market which is 2-3 doors down. They have great assortment of bread, bbq sandwiches, and other good yums.

Sesame noodle salad. Way too salty, too much soy sauce and soaked in oil. Just awful! INEDIBLE.

DREDFUL! Dried out empanadas that taste more like Mexican food than Spanish -no raisins (a classic ingredient). I requested it hot yet it was cold inside. The tough stale dried out pastry was a sincere disappointment. Asian Sesame Noodle Salad has so much soy sauce & salt , that made it inedible; and I like salty food. Also drenched in oil. - This was really bad $5.99 wasted. $14.99 Tuna sandwiches. All in all, this place is a no go.

Price gouging at its finest.

They charge you for the fat trimmed off of your steaks. No, seriously. Ordered two filets, they said "we weigh the steak in roast form and don't cut steaks." ???? At $45/pound you can't cut a steak? Then the clown behind the counter said "I'll cut you a break and we'll trim it this time", which was a lie. Paid $92 for 1 pound worth of steaks after trimming. Go to Morton's and at least have them cook it for you. I'll deal with trash customer service and outrageous prices because DC is DC, but don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. You guys are garbage and I'll never be back. Butcher's Alley in Bethesda is a better option and is $10/pound less.

Nice deli meat selection

This market provides a wide range of fresh and prepared specialty foods and claims to have best beef brisket within 100 mile radius. If you're looking to cook products from local farmers then I would recommend coming here, but be aware that it comes with a price tag- yes even for DC.... in summary for my first experience here I give 5 for how friendly the staff were but a 3 for the food I had. The menu has a wide range of sandwiches and gourmet meals that one can choose from. We got the double decker sandwich( has brisket and pastrami) and the Ruben( pastrami only). The brisket had a strong disappointing gamey taste to it. Perhaps it was the meat that day but for what we paid for it I wouldn't order it in the future. I was also disappointed in that no chips or side of salad came with the rather expensive ($16and 13$) sandwiches. The fresh produce and meats from local farmers are reasons why I would come back in the future. If you're in the area you should stop by.

Wagshal's Nixon Salad with bonus stick! Not to my taste, but perhaps a goat would enjoy!

The sandwich was okay. The place is very cramped, and it is difficult to move around. Parking is acceptable.

I love this shop! Today was my first time and the guys made…read moreme feel like a regular. It might seem weird to go from VA to a butcher shop in MD for wine but they are the only ones semi local I could find this Spanish Cava that I love and have only been able to find in DC. It gets weirder, while was there I looked around and found something else that I haven't been able to find, fish stock. Not just any fish stock, fish stock without out anything added. I've been looking for a while for my daughter's pup who has kidney issues and this is supposed to be very helpful. When I read the label it said aromatics so I asked the friendliest guy if he knew if they added onions and why I needed to know. He didn't shrug his shoulders and say I don't know...he dashed next store to ask the chef!!!! Came back and assured me it was just fish bones... I did get some huge meatballs too, pack of six which will be six yummy dinners for me. Their butcher case looked amazing and I will drive back for that and another bottle of Cava. Sorry for a long review, it's so unusual to have such incredible customer service anywhere I wanted to scream it out in the inter nets!

I needed a steak for my son's birthday dinner. A good steak. At the same time, DC is freaking out…read moreover a coming storm. Supermarket shelves are emptied. But Butchers Alley was fully stocked. Great meats. Awesome cheeses. Prepared meals. Wines. The butcher was awesome. The cheesemonger incredibly helpful. I love this store. It makes me feel like shopping in Europe.
