Wagamama was easily the worst restaurant of our trip to Amsterdam. The crappiness of the food was only matched by the rudeness of the waitstaff. Two people were serving two parties in the entire dining room and the slowness and carelessness with which they helped us was embarrassing to the establishment. When we asked for water they didn't bring any and when we went to the bar to ask again, they said it had only been five minutes since we asked with significant attitude and condescension, as if water is an unreasonable request to fulfill given the circumstances. But now I understand why the restaurant was empty. Meanwhile, my bowl was merely a bed of romaine with a measly three pieces of eggplant. The dressing was barely detectable and the meal was a categorical dud, extra upsetting in a foreign city. Avoid at all costs. Eat raw vegetables from a grocery store instead. Our boys live eating at Wagamama when we're traveling. This spot was no different! They were very good at catering to our kid's allergy needs. For example, in the past we've been able to order gyoza for the kids, but something changed and the staff highlighted that was not safe for our kids this time. The power juice was fantastic and the Korean bbq bai buns were delicious as usual. The sweet bao buns for dessert were different and a good way to end the meal. read more

Found this restaurant on accident while going to hard rock Café to pick up a shot glass. It had a great ambience and vibe with a menu that featured several vegan and vegetarian options. Although I wanted to order everything on the menu we decided on gyoza, bang bang cauliflower, chicken Ramen, and tofu lemongrass curry. It would not of been a complete meal without topping it off with banana Katsu with ice cream and dairy free coconut ice cream. This was by far one of the best dairy free ice cream's that I've ever had. We sat in the area next to the windows to catch the breeze and enjoy a glass of wine. The raamen is not at all worthy of its name! I know and love Japanese food and this is definitely not it! If you're looking for fusion food with names stolen from the Japanese language, than go here and enjoy. The only thing I found to be genuinely good was the fresh carrot juice with a hint of ginger. The mixed rice is too oily and greasy, the raamen doesn't even taste Japanese nor do the noodles look authentic, the dumplings are over-fried, the curry is too lemony and tastes more Thai than it does Japanese and I can go on but I won't. The servuce was good and the food was pretty good also. A great place for a quick dinner after traveling for 24 hours. This has been a goto for me for the past few years. I have the Wagama Romin which is full of good meat and sea food bites and a tasty broth. We were looking for something clean, fast, and interesting. According to my friend who spent many years living in Japan, the food was not very authentic but seemed more pan-Asian. I was delighted there was vegetarian miso soup but not happy with the soba noodles as I expected them to be buckwheat. The grilled asparagus was delicious. Unfortunately the green tea was tasteless...like barely green.and kind of like dish water. Weird. UGH...NOT up to the standards of UK Wagamama, either in food quality or service. My duck gyoza either had been pre-cooked and sitting under a heat lamp for hours, or lost a fight with the deep fryer. They were so tough that chewing them was difficult. Miso chicken ramen was bland throughout. They said that food may come out at different times, but to bring the kids meal twenty minutes after the first entree was served--a meal that we could see sitting ready to be served for at least 10 minutes was unacceptable. Appetizers usually don't come last. They brought the wrong soda, which I didn't realize until I took a sip. When I tried to trade it for the right one the server accused me of drinking it all, when it was clearly in the glass. She told our primary server of the switch, who then...took a break and disappeared. Ummm...I'm eating Firecracker Prawns here...hot stuff...can I have my drink? We had good service but I would advise that the servers know a bit more about the dishes that the restaurant has. Our initial server could not provide recommendations. Although Wagamama has branches in the UK, I had yet to try it. I had been told it was a great place to eat, even for being gluten free, as you could mix and match your way through the menu to create your desired meal with a choice of meats/fish, rice/rice noodles and sauces. Eh, either I was mis-sold Wagamama or the Dutch version is more restrictive, as my order consisted of chicken and rice. Options were very limited (handful) and many included ruling out the sauce hence the chicken and rice option. The service was ok - my chicken and rice came separately and my chicken sat for a good 5 mins before it was brought over but apart from that it was friendly service. I've never heard of this place, but apparently it's a chain, and my British friends were excited to eat there. The seating is like a cafeteria style, which is nice and social. The food - I did not care for it at all. The noodles lacked flavor, the shrimp was tiny and looked microwaved / tasted chewy. My friend also complained that her dish had an "identity crisis" because it was both hot (protein) and cold (salad). You know how Europeans hold a very different attitude toward consumption of alcohol? Turns out that they are not so picky about discounting it, either. The Amsterdam pass (even the small one) gets you 25% off at select restos. That includes alcohol. Flash your pass and suddenly you are eating AND drinking at 3/4 of the price that you would normally pay. This pleases me greatly. This location is within steps of the Holland Casino on Max Euweplein. They gave us a table even though we were only there for drinks. The server wasn't huffy when she learned that we weren't ordering food, either. All of this makes me want to return to try the food. It's a chain in Europe so we probably will get that chance. This highlights the benefits of long-term thinking in the resto industry: but treating us well on our small order, they generated goodwill such that we would likely return and that resulted in a favourable Yelp review. read more

This location is a good place to stop in before a show at Paradiso. I had the firecracker prawns and a large beer. Which was perfect. The prawns were not overly spicy and the portion size was just about right. The other members of the group enjoyed the ramen or the firecracker chicken. As we were a larger party, we did make reservations, but the place was not completely filled when we arrived at about 7:00 pm. If you have a big party, probably a good idea to reserve some space. Although the food was alright and the drinks were served promptly, each dish came out when it was ready and in no particular order. So it was a bit awkward for some of us to be eating while others were waiting or already finished. All-in-all it worked out fine for the group and I'll probably be back again before another show. read more

I asked them to heat it up and they brought it back scolding hot. I've been to a 5 star noodle place and because of that I can compare. This place made us wait half hour before i told then wr are still waiting abd they checked and noticed the printer in the kitchen was out of paper and that's why they hadn't received our order and when we finally did eat 45 minutes later, they didn't give us a discount. Got the pork ramen which was really similar to an egg noodle soup with chinese bbq pork, rather than ramen -- but it was good! Not what you'd expect for "ramen" though. wagamama is known for their amazing soups. i came here with a friend and asked the cute english waiter what his favorite on the menu was and before i knew it he was ordering for the both of us! he was most helpful! i'm not a big fan of ramen but the pork ramen soup was bursting with so much flavor! the noodle was a bit soggy but THE FLAVOR ugh i wanted to take a dive and swim in it good. it was like a warm hug going down my throat on a rainy day. best of all, the texture of the pork was cooked perfectly with just enough spice. i tip my hat and applaud at wagamama's ability to satisfy my peculiar taste buds! read more

The shrimps were tiny tiny and overcooked and there was only a few small pieces of chicken of very poor quality. The noodles were overcooked and the sauce had no special taste (soya sauce).
