    Racism at its finest

I've never seen this level of blatant racism. I was told to order at the to go window but there were 3 white customers allowed in the establishment AND served. After I was directed to the window. My mind is blown!

2 egg breakfast with toast and hash browns smothered/covered/peppered. Yum!

Placed a to go order on a Sunday around 11am. This place was POPPIN (popular/packed). Despite that, my order was prepared timely and correct! The food was hot and exactly what I was expecting. If you've never been to a Waffle House, it's a casual diner, used to be open 24/7 but I would check that before going at an odd hour. I hadn't been to a Waffle House in years before this visit but I'll definitely circle back soon

So much food, Gustavo ate all!

Hello, it is I, Gustavo! I am here to bring you my first yelp review, or as I call it, y help? (Get it?). But yes. Where to begin? I drive very late at night on occasion, to avoid the night yelling of my wife of course. This one particular cold and not so stormy night, I find myself in the pits of despair. Head pounding, heart beating, I dig my fingernails into my velvet steering wheel cover (which is the height of luxury in my country). As my symptoms stack up by the minute, I notice a new opposition! A dreaded shooting pain in my side! Yeeeouch. As the all-consuming hunger begins to chase me, my need for consumption rises. Then I see it, approaching in the distance. The yellow beacon of hope, like a city on a hill, a glowing sign that brings promises of the new world, a house made of waffles! I park my '97 Corolla out front and walk up to the establishment. Just as I reach for the handle, a masked man jumps from the bushes to ambush me! Oh the excitement, I love a good challenge. I fight off the assailant in the nick of time and enter the palace. This place has jukebox style music, very classy. I am told by lady waitress who is also chef and manager to "sit wherever." Oh am I a sucker for a sense of control. I choose to sit in the high top bar counter. I order and watch in awestruck amazement as drunken multipurpose worker lady cracks eggs with one hand and smokes cigarette with other. Just like father! Wow! It is at this moment that I remember that I failed to mention I eat enough to feed small village, very important in the coming events (picture below.) Plate after plate, I shovel the grease and gristle into my mouth hole, loving every minute of it. In a raspy southern charm voice of another patron, I hear "slow down bud" which invigorates me to eat even faster. After all this food, I expect hefty bill that make my wife yell real loud, but instead I am greeted by bill that just says $22.57! What a deal and what a journey. Wife will only yell a little, so I will return. 5/5. -Gustavo

We heard about this place from our friends so when it was time to get the gang together- I said hey…read moreshould we go to Zacapa? She said YES! On arrival, the staff remembered my friend. They're like- cilantro allergy right? Hahahaha. Then they say us at two large tables in the back. Thank goodness because everyone had their kids so there were 5 adults and 4 kids. We had plenty of room back there for the kids to be kids. Our server was great. I had no idea they would tack on 20% tip to our bill, but she wasn't slacking. She was still earning that tip. She brought out chips and salsa and then got our drink order. That helped keep the kids occupied. My friend suggested the margarita flight- so I went for it. The menu is an iPad with pictures of everything but it's also a lot of clicking back and forth and kind of overwhelming. My friend loved the carnitas fajitas and got that again. She gave me a bite- the pork was in chunks but it was so flavorful and tender. I had the shrimp tacos- wow! There were four huge shrimp in each taco (3 tacos) so it was about 3/4 of a pound of shrimp or maybe even a pound! Mine came with a side of rice and beans- which you can adjust a little but not too many options exist. I did not want beans but I also did not want double rice lol. Hers came with the usual fajita stuff- lettuce, guac, salsa, cheese, and sour cream. Both dishes came with your choice of corn or flour tortillas The guys got the chicken fajitas and the molcajete, which came w the same platter of sides and tortillas. There was food everywhere. The kids got chicken tenders, black beans, refried beans, rice, white queso dip and macaroni and cheese. They all kinda shared and of course didn't finish their food. I think they got full on chips and salsa. The margarita flight I had has many choices for flavors. I got kiwi, coconut and blackberry. All were very good but all very sweet. They put a lot of syrup in there. I think you'd be better off just getting a regular margarita or one flavored one because the flight cups are smaller than typical margarita glasses. So if they're putting one squirt of syrup, it's probably too much for that little glass. So next time I'll just get the coconut margarita. They have churros and what not but we opted against dessert. The kids wanted ice cream from the place down the plaza (Violet's- it's great! See my review). We boxed up our leftovers (I couldn't eat all three tacos; I had one left, plus my rice and beans) and paid the tab. She was nice to split it up by family and I'm sure that was not easy! I did not use the restroom but most of us did. The restrooms look like singles but they're not. The women's has two stalls behind that door so don't get caught waiting in the hallway. Go inside. My friend's kid didn't wanna wait or couldn't wait so they went straight to the men's, thinking the women's was a one stall. Hahahaha. Parking is hard to find because it's a busy plaza. We had to park all the way down by Fishbones where the parking lot is a lot bigger. They have a front part of their restaurant which also has some bar seating and then that more quiet back room where we were seated. I would recommend this place. It's a little pricey for Mexican food but it's really good. (Also it's hard to mess us Mexican, I get it). I was impressed by the amount of shrimp in my tacos and the amount of pork carnitas and chicken fajitas they put on their platters. They also have quite a selection of flavors for their margs.

The food and drinks were fantastic, and our bartender Leslie made the experience even better. The guacamole and birria empanadas were standouts, and the drinks were all great. We loved the cantarita, margaritas, Blue Hawaiian, and the spicy Bloody Marys. Leslie was friendly, attentive, and makes excellent drinks. And they put the Illinois men's basketball game on for us!! If I lived here, this place would definitely be in my regular rotation.

Will absolutely positively do again and again…read more Ordered via DoorDash, everything arrived still hot and the servings were more than we could've hoped for. They've thoroughly beat out all the usual suspects when it comes to breakfast. We ordered Mama Jen's bowl and asked for an over medium egg. I'm a retired Chef so I have various "test foods" I order whenever I go somewhere new. They got the medium SPOT ON. That is a feat unto itself. The potatoes were crisp on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. Completely impressed. We also ordered the Ultimate Omelet. The fillings were perfectly portioned so nothing outshined or pushed off anything else. The spinach had just the right wilt without being mushy. I am beyond impressed and will be recommending this place to everyone

Had to get bloodwork done at 6:30am, so afterwards we were close to here and craving breakfast, so it was a no-brainer to stop in here. Having been born and raised in Mississippi, I am always on the hunt for some good southern homestyle cooking and I for sure found it here. First, everything about the outside and inside of the restaurant reminded me of all the lil mom and pop restaurants I was raised going to. Great nostalgia for me. Now was the food going to live up to what the place looked like?? YES! So I went in craving breakfast and then what did my little eye spy on the menu? An open-faced roast beef sandwich and they service breakfast and lunch all day? Well, yes, please and thank you! Forget brekkie, I went straight for that open-faced roast beef with fried and all of it covered in gravy. OH MY! I'm talking this is the kinda food that (as we say in the Deep South) makes you wanna slap your momma! The bread was piled high with fresh roast beef. The fries were steak fries which are my favorite. The gravy topping everything was just the chef's kiss to set everything off! So many things I want to try on the menu, but I think it's going to be a while before I order anything other than that open-faced roast beef! Hubby had scrambled eggs, toast, hash (his fav brekkie food and he asked for it crispy - they delivered), and breakfast potatoes. He said everything was great and that it's the best hash he's had. I have never been a fan of hash, but I always try it. This has I would definitely eat. It was good. Can't say I'd order it myself because I'm just not a fan, but if this is the breakfast that was served to me, I definitely wouldn't turn my nose up at it. Anyway, two big thumbs up from hubby. Wheelchair friendly. Clean restrooms. Great service from our attentive and sweet server. Food came out very fast. I also much mention the Diet Coke. You know how some are just better from certain fountains? Yes, this was one of those cold fountain Coke's that was just so good. It really hit different. I ordered water as per usual because I try to not drink soda too much, especially while I eat, but hubby mentioned how good it was so, of course I had to try it. He was right. Very good indeed. If you are in the area, don't miss out on this lil restaurant. You will not be disappointed! The only negative thing I can say is they are only open until 3pm on weekdays and only until 2pm on the weekends. Guess that's a good complaint though. LOL Sure wish they were open for dinner too b/c we'd really be eating here a lot!!

We started with cheese curds and both decided on sandwiches. I did a tuna melt on rye with Swiss, my sister ordered the market club. Both were delicious. Fries, tots and onion rings are side choices. Daily specials and soups are available. The service was spot on, def a place to become a regular at! Can't wait to go back and try something else.
