Up front I always explain that my reviews are based on my expectation going in. If I rate truck-stop sushi 5-stars, it's not on the Nobu scale. That said... I travel a lot for work, and my favorite easy stop on the road is Waffle House for 'breakfast anytime'. The brand has suffered over the years and many locations fail to live up to the nostalgia of the basic meal at a fair price with folksy appeal. The Waffle House in Quinton still hits it out of the park with fresh food, made right with friendly service. Not only was all of our food delicious, but the staff wash professional and welcoming. The place was being cleaned any time someone had a free moment. I think the whole dinning area was mopped just during my last visit. Thank you all for still doing it right. Got here around 1030 am on Sunday and it was very busy. At times, people were lined up 10 deep to get seated. My wife and I waited about 10 mins before seating at the bar. This place is small with about seating for 50. The staff was very busy for the Sunday breakfast rush, and I counted 9 working staff. I had the large all star breakfast, which included hash browns, waffle, eggs, toast, meat and a drink for 14$- great pricing. My wife had a breakfast sandwich for 8$. The staff was friendly, the food is good, and it was clean. We will be back. read more

I always love a good trip to Waffle House. Since I live more than an hour from one now, I almost always stop when I pass one. That's how I ended up here. If I'm going to be honest, this is the nicest and cleanest Waffle House I have ever been to, which made me nervous lol. But they delivered on every aspect: the food, the service, and the show. We arrived and were greeted by Elizabeth (who I assume is the manager as she had on a different color shirt and how everyone interacted with her). She cleaned off the table in front of us too. MJ was our waitress and good 'ol Patrick was the cook and surprisingly the only cook back there. However, when things were going slow Elizabeth jumped right in to help. There was a younger blonde lady working as well, but I didn't catch her name as she had to borrow someone else's apron (I know because someone was complaining she didn't have on her apron). Her and Mj, not friends. The young lady tried to tell MJ how to do her job several times and MJ snapped back at her. You could tell this was not MJs first rodeo. I ordered my usually, the All Star (now $11.00 even). I got the waffle, bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, and plain hash browns. Oddly enough, 2 seconds after ordering, my bestie was delivered a waffle with nuts and we knew it wasn't ours. Of course, MJ realised her mistake and took it back only to instantly deliver to the table it belonged too. I am not a fan of redelivered food especially since COVID. Anywho, our plain waffles came out immediately and were perfect. We started to eat those. We were close to the cook so we could tell he was behind a few orders. Actually we watched MJ bring a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich back that apparently had no sausage on it. MJ tells Patrick and he says "there was some on there when I gave it to you" now looking at this woman it belonged to and how quickly she gave it back, I can't imagine she scarfed down 2 sausages that quickly. I mean maybe she did but who knows. Patrick places 2 patties on her already bitten out of sandwich. Alas, my food comes, but not besties sausage biscuit. Well, as any bestie I started eating not waiting for her food because it can't possibly be that long between our food coming, after all Elizabeth is whipping out eggs like she is the Queen hen herself. While I continue to eat, and bestie continues to wait, the Sherrie comes in asking if anyone owns a red pickup truck. The young blonde lady behind the counter says yes. The sherif is taking her sweet time. We are all holding our breath waiting for what she's about to say. She asks the waitress if it's hers, she replies yes again. The sheriff very slowly says "your lights are on." We all sigh in relief because that anticipation was building up for sure. By the time I finish eating besties sandwich finally arrives. It comes with an apology from both MJ and Patrick. Luckily we weren't in a hurry so we weren't super worried about it. But glad the apologies came too. read more

Never had Waffle House before so had to stop on the way home from Virginia. The all star special breakfast came with a waffle, bacon, eggs, biscuit and hash browns all for $11. Such a great deal and if all tasted delicious. You can watch the employees cook everything too. The service here was good, nice and friendly people. read more

8/29/20 On our way to Virginia Beach and the time is now 23:52. To keep ourselves awake, we stopped by The Waffle House. I haven't been to one if these places in a while. Mike was our server and Lex was our cook. The service my Mike was fantastic. He would have sung a song, but I didn't have him go through with it. Lex was our cook. Lex was busting her ass to get the food out quickly, but using the up most care for food safty. We watched Lex change gloves repeatedly when handling raw food. Mike explained the check and how the balance came out. Due to how quickly the place filled up with clientele, Mike and the other two crew members had their work cut out for them, but I don't think they wouldn't want it any other way. As for the bathrooms, I did not check them out, but my wife did. The ladies room was okay, even if the ladies single bathroom was used by two sets of different women at the same time. Something I have seen done when they wish to get away from whatever guys they are with. Waffle House has good food most of the time, but this time around the waffles were very tasty for me. The bacon was delicious and this made up for the blueberry waffles with pecans. I will note Mike customers service also gives this review a 4 star status. The only reason this review isn't 5 stars, is the boogers I found at the edge of the table. The table needed a second wiping too. Aside from that, this place was good. read more

I love this place. It's great southern comfort breakfast food and nothing else. I got the double waffles and the Texas Patty Melt. The waffles were awesome of course but not as crispy as I remembered. I would still order them again. The Patty Melt was great as well. The coffee was ok. Not fresh but it was hot. Service was great. This is my absolute favorite Waffle House and I'm finally writing them the review they deserve. Hubby and I took a beautiful and scenic ride on the backroads from Williamsburg. This Waffle House is usually pretty busy and today wasn't an exception. Despite the chaos, we were able to snag two seats at the counter. Our Schriever came over after only a few minutes to take our order. She looked overwhelmed but was still friendly and had a smile on her face. We both got the All Star breakfast with a pecan waffle for me. This place has the best grits of any Waffle House I've ever been to. They're always fluffy and yummy not runny and gluey like some other locations. Everything was cooked perfectly and we were in and out in 20 minutes. We have a location that is closer to us but we will gladly drive the extra miles to come here instead. read more

Well hubby and i went here about 6 months ago it was delish..i know it's a Waffle House but it was clean, food was hot and fresh and the waitress older lady she knew her biz. We went a few times after that and still ok. But we went again last night and the older lady no longer works there, the place is filthy, flies everywhere, floors were disgusting. I didn't even want to go into the bathroom! We sat down, starving i know i know we should've walked out but we were being starving and this is Quinton, VA not much to choose from. We waited nearly 10 mins before a waitress (the only) waitress came over. We ordered and another 15 mins go by.... food arrived burnt...mostly. We just ate what we could get down and got the hell out! Weird to the wise, DO NOT EAT HERE!!! $29 bucks for crappy service and burnt food. Now let me see how to stop payment on this!! read more

Let me start first with the positive: I love this restaurant. The service staff are generally very kind and attentive. I go here probably 2-3 times a week for meals during their quieter hours of the day, typically during 3rd shift. My meals are always prepared hot and exactly the way I want them "sans pickles." Modestly priced and conveniently located, I will be a repeat customer for sure. Now the bad: The last 3 times I have come to this establishment in the wee hours of the morning I have encountered a particular server named Toni. I have to say she is without a doubt the worst server I've ever encountered, and with 16 years in the F&B industry that's no small feat. I've seen some truly terrible staff in my time, but none as sour and distasteful as this older, heavy-set woman who works overnights. I've never been treated like an inconvenience by a server in an empty restaurant before and yet Toni consistently seems to think my presence in the establishment is an issue for me as her general outward demeanor is one of aloofness and frustration. What blows my mind about this fact is That I'm consistently a 20%+ tipper, even when I'm stuck with Toni as my server. Needless to say, I'll be back, but every time I come I'll be praying to god alright that I get why sever but that woman. My recommendation would be: Find someone else to work overnights. The younger gentleman who works nights with Toni has been nothing shy of a blessing. His attitude and presentation was consistently professional and I would kill to have a handful of servers like him in any establishment I dine in. read more

We walked in for a bite to eat around noon today. Half the tables were empty, but all dirty. We waited five minutes before another couple in front of us told us they had been waiting twenty minutes and nobody had spoken to them. Nobody looked at us, acknowledged us, or tried to explain the delay. The manager was slowly putting coffee cups in a pile and everyone seemed to be moving on slow motion. Considering the other customers wait and the lack of service, we opted to leave. They may have been short staffed or something, but a manager or any employee can speak to waiting customers to give them an idea of what is going on. It's nice to visit a Waffle House where the employees actually care about the experience that you have. And even though we rolled into this one at 6 a.m. and the staff was tired after a long night they worked their best to insure we had a great experience and that can be very rare at this chain. It's rare to have a cook tell you that breakfast is important to him anyone's every customer to leave having enjoyed their meal. That's what we experienced here. Hopefully the shift that you walk in on is as good as the one we did period They work their tail off to make sure that our order came out exactly as we ordered it. It was an awful hot July day. The time was approximately one in the afternoon on a Friday. My companions and I became urgently hungry, and were in search of a suitable place to dine at. We found the Waffle House on the side of the road, almost as if it called to us from a land above. After speaking to the most pleasant woman at the cash register, we sat down at a booth to begin our meal. The waitress who brought us our menus wasn't exactly the brightest. Most likely a result of the repeat and consistent use of Methamphetamine throughout numerous years. To begin, we placed an order to consume multiple drinks. The lemonade had a very dark bittersweet after taste, most undesirable. The waitress also exhibited severe problems computing and imputing basic mathematics, as we had a merry group of four people, but she only gave us three straws. We then put in a rather large order of blueberry waffles and hash browns. Might I add, that were truly delightful. Contrary to our wonderful meal, we witnessed two employees having a verbal altercation in the middle of the dining establishment. This was not very pleasant to watch, as the one gentleman proclaimed that the female employee was "a lazy ass". Not something those who intend to dine at the Waffle House wish to observe! We then decided to end our visit by paying the tab we had racked up at the register. As a surprise to all, the waitress had mistakenly added extra bacon and eggs to the order which we had not asked to consume or order. This caused a bit of a fiasco, as the kind woman found it very confusing that we stated we did not order extra bacon and eggs, yet bacon and eggs somehow mysteriously ended up on our bill. Finally, after clearing the case of mistaken bacon purchasing, we exited the establishment and entered our vehicle. We quietly observed the Waffle House from a far. To put it simply, our group realized that the Waffle House was not a perfect place, but it certainly delivered a delicious variety of scrumptious food when you are in need of it! Cheers! read more
