Krystal was an AMAZING server. We came here late and she was super sweet. Customer service is a huge thing for me. Let's get real, Waffle House taste about the same generally wherever you go- if they are doing a good job. Krystal was on top of everything and was very social and on top of her stuff. I went out of my way to make sure I knew her name because she deserves the acknowledgment. However there was a woman who had red hair and she was the cook and she was AWFUL. Disrespect and loved to talk badly about the server in front of everyone trying to start a fight. She needs to go. I will file a complaint to corporate. Idk how far it will get but management needs to have a conversation with her if anything. The 4 stars if because it's was clean and not a lot of people and they were quick. Generally I am a Waffle House fan. Good reliable breakfast menu and you know what to expect across the board. This place was kind of dirty even though we saw staff standing around. The waitress we had seemed to hate her job and didn't care much about customers. She dropped a bottle of orange juice and it splattered all over the floor. It hit the legs and back of shoes of one of our party. She didn't even offer to clean it up though she noted it. She grabbed a rag off of the counter to clean the floor with, leaving it sticky. One of our party was supposed to get a waffle with order and it never came. We asked her about it and she went and got one but it was too late pretty much. All plates were lukewarm or cold. My order the eggs were cold but bacon was warm. The food was okay but not what I usually expect at Waffle House. Based on this visit I would not recommend this particular Waffle House. read more

The restaurant was full when we arrived. I think they did a good job of tracking seating to get us all seated together. The server was friendly. The restaurant was not as clean as I would like. Part of the problem is the customers being messy and dropping food on the floor. It did t get picked up promptly. The bathrooms were also messy and kind of gross. The food was ok. It wasn't seasoned so somewhat bland. My family varied in opinion with one person saying the food was very good to most people saying it was ok but not great. the. absolute. worst. I cannot even rate this a 1 star. I have been to plenty of Waffle Houses, some that the workers were fighting, cursing, walking out on the job, all the things....yet this has been the worst experience of them all. We waited 30 minutes for 1 drink. 45 minutes for food. Tables that sat at the same exact time as us were served, ate, paid and left the building before we got 1 drink. When we finally got our food, our hash browns were nearly black (burnt to a crisp), my burger bun was indeed frozen & defrosted, my burger meat was as hard as a rock. We stopped in for lunch. Two workers but they did well to take care of our party of 9. Actually sat at 3 tables to break it up and make it easier on prepping and cooking food. Food was good. I forgot how limited their menu was...but still liked having the option of lunch or breakfast. I got the Texas patty melt and hash browns (they don't do fries) and it was tasty. Others seem pleased with their choices...just seemed a little pricey for what you get. Right across from where we are staying so you can't beat the commute. Again, a restaurant ravaged by the economy and doing the best they can with the staffing issues they are up against. All in all...typical Waffle House. I have been a waffle house customer for a long time. I have dined at the original waffle house in avondale estates ga. It is really a go to place or has been a go to place that delivered comfort food at reasonable prices. Those days are long gone. I realize the tourist get taken a lot in Orange Beach, but I never would have guessed the local waffle house would be in on the scam to join in and play the rip off the tourist game. I just paid almost 36 dollars for two plain egg sandwiches, two orders for grits and two bottles orange juice, in a to go order. The operative phrase in this ramble is "to go". I could have sat down and ordered two all star specials for about the same price, but I committed the agregious error of placing a "to go order" of plain egg sandwiches and learned about prep fees, utensil fees and other various add on fees that drove the cost up. So be aware waffle house has a lot of add on fees not including the gratuity. read more

Writing this review because credit needs to be given to the poor understaffed cooks that were in this restaurant tonight getting bi***** at by the server. I work in a restaurant so I'm super observant as to what's going on. As soon as we sat down, our server informed us that the food was not coming out on time, ok fine we will be patient. She proceeded to complain and blame it on the cooks who clearly needed another person on the grill. Anyways, I watched the cooks call for our food twice, which was actually made in a reasonable time, and our server was not listening, and then she finally saw it was up and proceeded to say that the food was cold by now and still served it too us. We were starving so we ate it cold anyways and knew they were busy, my friend also had a hair in her food and the server picked it out and clearly identified it was not one of our hairs, and I told her to charge me for one meal and she still charged for two. The Waffle House was just okay. They took a decent amount of time to get us our food. The food I order was a Texas cheesesteak melt sandwich and a Berts Chili it was okay. The Pecan Waffle my wife order took about 10 minutes to come out. The rest of our family's food took about 15 minutes or so. "If I could give it no stars I would" why did I go to this establishment to join my homeboys for a good drunk breakfast on 27august at 2 am. When I walked in they were saving us seats at the bar. Just so happens, moments before we came in to join them, a regular customer in his usual barstool at the counter was occupying the 5th seat we were going to occupy. I asked if we could move to accommodate us and the employee replied he always sits here, he's a regular. Literally the whole party was like, ok, respect and we proceeded to move to the booths to sit together. My friends asked me what was going on and I replied he's a regular so he always sits there and idk how or when attitude was detected from me but I'm literally the most docile person on earth. She preceded to call me a bunch of bitches and talked shit about me. All my friends came to my rescue and tried to clear up that no one's a bitch there's a misunderstanding and she continued to escalate the situation and call me even more bitches. And at that point we decided to leave. They were all so upset bc we didn't do anything and my 2 friends that beat us there said she literally had no issue with them when they were seated there. I felt unwelcome, targeted, and overall attacked as I never said anything except to my friends including "no she's really mad. She's not playing" and again she took this as attitude and a reason to get louder and verbally assault me more and I was just warning them to leave it alone. I somehow managed to go through my life for 20 years before ever having eaten at a Waffle House. Shocking right? Well, the ocean and sun hangover left me few choices for a late night meal, and I finally caved. I found an excellent cook and wait staff, delicious cheaply priced food, and probably one of the most clean and sterile restaurant I've seen. First off I love Waffle House just had a horrible experience at this location. There was a line which I don't mind waiting. They told us we couldn't sit at the 4 bar tables in front. Well after waiting 10 minutes two guys tried to sit there and the manager was very rude to tell them to go the the line. Well after another 15 minutes we still were never seated and the manager let a couple skip the line and sit there. Now I have my reason why she let them but I'm going to save that for church.
