Pecan Waffle

Who doesn't love a Waffle House? Originally from Michigan I only got to go when on vacation, as we don't have them up north. Now that I live in Nashville they are everywhere! I don't go often, but whenever my parents are in town visiting from up north they insist. This location is just down the road from my apartment, and I'm glad. I've been to many and this spot has some of the friendliest staff I've met yet. They smile, they chat, they get to know you, all while being efficient and quick with your order. I am a creature of habit at Waffle House. Always get a pecan waffle and side of sausage with a water and a Diet Coke. I'm sure it's a machine that pumps them out so uniform, but I don't even care. Waffle is cooked perfectly every single time! Love the crunch of the pecan and the toasty flavor it gets while being cooked. Never a long wait even if there is a line. Easy parking at this location. 10/10.

Waffle House has become a familiar part of the landscape in the southeastern United States, the familiar yellow logo has lured many hungry travelers to seek sustenance beyond its doors and within its walls. The menu is rather straightforward, with a strong emphasis on breakfast food, which for many is their favorite meal of the day. The menu also revolves around one particular item that has made its way into our hearts, their hashbrowns. You can choose a multitude of toppings for your hashbrowns, everything from chili to ham and everything in between and in whatever combination, truly a way to customize and personalize your meal. I have been to these locations for a multitude of meals, including many that I enjoyed after a night on the town. I recommend a visit and a meal and make sure you make your hashbrowns just how you like them.

I love waffles, I really do. It was lunch time though and no one was offering breakfast menu items anymore. Cue the always reliable, breakfast served all day, Waffle House. I went to the nearest one and was pleasantly surprised. It was clean, the staff was very friendly, attentive, and happy. The grilled chicken sandwich came with a full chicken breast that hung out the sides of the bun. Amazing! My hash browns were delicious and cooked perfectly. I'm not a Waffle House regular but I've been to at least 5-6 different Waffle Houses in 4-5 different states. This is hands down the best one I've ever dined in.

We visited to celebrate my niece's 16th birthday, and unfortunately, what should have been a memorable evening turned into one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We understood the long wait to be seated because the restaurant was extremely busy, so we didn't let that bother us. However, once we were finally seated, everything else continued to go downhill. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot with very little air circulating, making it difficult to enjoy our meal. The first red flag was that we were served drinking glasses with chips in the rims. That's a serious safety concern and something that should never happen. When our food finally arrived, nearly all of it was cold. We informed our waiter, who took the meals back. It honestly seemed as though they were simply put in a microwave because they came back out still cold. Even more concerning, two people in our party ordered salads that were warm. Salads should never be warm, which makes me question how the ingredients were being stored. Our waters and other drinks also had little to no ice. Service was just as disappointing. Our waiter forgot multiple items throughout the meal, and we had to repeatedly ask for things we had already requested. Some items never arrived at all. One meal was supposed to include a waffle, but it wasn't brought to the table until nearly 20 minutes after everyone else had already been served. To make matters worse, when it came time to cut my niece's birthday cake, we asked for a knife. The manager brought us a dirty butcher knife. It was completely unacceptable, and yes, I have photos of the chipped glasses and the dirty knife. After spending nearly four hours at the restaurant between waiting to be seated, waiting on cold food, and waiting for our checks, we spoke with the manager about everything that had gone wrong. The response we received was essentially, "I'm sorry, but hopefully you'll come back and let us redeem ourselves." That was it. No attempt to make things right, no discount, no gesture of goodwill, despite our table spending well over $300. Everyone can have an off day, but this wasn't just one mistake. It was a series of problems involving food quality, cleanliness, service, and management's lack of accountability. A simple apology wasn't enough after an experience like this. Sadly, my niece's birthday dinner was overshadowed by frustration and disappointment. This is not a restaurant I can recommend, and I'll be sure to share my experience with anyone considering dining here.

My brother and sister-in-law from Ohio were visiting us with their two young children, and we had been hitting up local ice cream establishments all week. We had tried a new one almost every day if they have been there and since we went to five iron golf nearby, I knew we would finish tonight up stopping by Sarabhas. It was late in the evening on a Sunday, but they were surprisingly busy though it did not take long to get served once we ordered. I sent all the saffron and pistachio ice cream and immediately that's what I wanted. Luckily before I made my decision I noticed that they had a Gulab option with that ice cream. Gulab jamun is one of my all-time favorite desserts so this was a must for me. All I can say is if you come here and you don't get that I'm extremely disappointed in you. This is a must visit if you're in the area. I know they have a new location at Lost and Found over in East Nashville as well so hopefully they have the full menu offering there. They are super nice and this is a different kind of ice cream experience that I would recommend over any of the ice creams available in 12 south or in most parts of the town.

Likewise, we enjoyed his creations! Laid before us were several samples of items offered -- most being sugary-sweet desserts landing anywhere between your favorite kid cereal to cookies and chocolate sauce. Of course, if that was all too much...or you wanted ALL of it...they also offered a create-your-own. Not much was off limits when it came to piling toppings high on a freshly made waffle. Since I had not yet had dinner, I opted to order one of their savory waffles, the "Whip Di Parma" [local Tennessee honey whipped feta, spinach, prosciutto, Mike's Hot Honey]. It was tasty and very fresh, but ultimately too sweet for my liking. With how both rich and sweet the flavors were, I just couldn't finish eating it all. I was bummed I had spent $11.00 before tip for a dinner I couldn't finish...and still hungry. I love the concept of offering savory dishes on waffles along with the sweet. I think it needs a little more tweaking to land perfection. Maybe changing it up to a cornbread waffle with blue cheese or goat's milk cheese...?
