Now it's been many years since I've been home but it's a craving that is always there and hard to fill. Cafe 290 does just that! Great home cooked meals, typical Diner sized portions (very large) and breakfast at any time of the day! Let's be honest, it's never the wrong time for breakfast! It feels like you are sitting in your home kitchen, the staff are very nice, and the atmosphere is typical Texas Diner, and there is nothing wrong with that! Few pictures, and good ole classic cheeseburger! 1lb of meat... good luck, taste great but sheesh, it's hefty, the quesadilla is 10/10 with chicken, idk why it just bangs every time! And the very classic egg omelette! Get the diced potatoes, it's all divine! LASTLY and probably most important! THEY HAVE HOMEMADE CAKE AND PIE by the slice. It's expensive, listen to me here, it's worth the price, massive slices and fresh every day and THEY ARE INCREDIBLE!

My go-to is The 290 which is two eggs, a choice of meat, and a choice of fries, hash browns, or grits. It also comes with a short stack of fluffy buttermilk pancakes. It's such a filling combo and I share the pancakes with my husband. They are delicious! Service here is always fast and friendly. They keep your coffee cup full even when the diner is packed!

They have done a great job with the decor and seating and it feels very warm and welcoming. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp (Camarones Momia) and my wife ordered the Beefsteak lunch (Plate Milanesa). Both of our plates were full and we ended up taking the leftovers home. Our food was delivered in about 10 minutes and the waitress was cheerful and responsive. The entire premise was clean and the prices were very reasonable. We are heading back to try the breakfast on Sunday.

Staff was friendly although they seamed a bit flustered as more people came in...but it's new and I'm sure they will get their system down...the menu is vast with a lot of options but we always start with the basics..Queso, Salsa and chips...Salsa had a great flavor with a bit of kick!! Sadly the Queso fell very short as it's just plain old cheese sauce with no spices and or flavor...a few scoops of the salsa definitely helped!....Wife went the beef enchiladas double rice. Red Sauce is unique with a good flavor...mine was Chicken enchiladas with green sauce with was solid...beans hit just right too...portions were Large and we left stuffed...looking forward trying some other menu items.

This is my favorite First Watch location. We joined the waitlist easily and were seated quickly,…read moreeven on a busy morning. The service was amazing, attentive, and super helpful walking us through the menu and answering all our questions. The food was so flavorful. My eggs benedict came with the most delicious hollandaise sauce, the waffle was perfectly crispy (just how I like it!), and the omelets were pretty big if you ask me. Everything we ordered was fresh and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this location for anyone wanting a great breakfast experience!

It should be mentioned, that the noise level here is fairly high with all the patrons and children. They do have outdoor seating, including both an inside and outside breakfast bar. The first bar of measurement is the coffee. We were served a dark roast, which is somewhat comparable to what you get at Starbucks, but I'm not a fan of those creamer pods 3*. The good news is that they bring you an endless pot of coffee. We ordered the blueberry lemon cornbread in hopes that it come out first, but they forgot it. When it arrived, it was topped with a lemon custard. I'd recommend skipping the pancake and go with this choice, although it did remind me of that Jiffy cornbread with freeze dried blueberries. We chose the Athlete and the trifecta. Those choices were basically good and some yelpers draw comparisons to Denny's, but we thought it was a little better. For the money, it's worth a return visit. Service was also attentive. You can pay with a QR code on your receipt or visit the checkout station where the tip screen starts at 18%. Some additional points of interest is the fact that you will have to ask for water, I was pleased to see that they do offer real maple syrup for an additional charge, no credit card fee and there is ample parking. They do have a lunch menu and they do offer a good selection cocktails. It also appears every review gets a business owner response. Check out the informative photos.
