We always stop at a Waffle House if we're in a city that has one. This one was clean, they were efficient. The service was great and the food delicious. Ro was our waitress. The classiest looking waitress with her dangle earrings and fidora. She was so good. Instinctive, attentive and quick. she told us she celebrated 20 years of waitressing this week. It showed. Comfort food. Come for a late breakfast/brunch and there won't be a wait. Before you visit, know what you are getting into. WH is a small diner, and is generally always busy. When you come in, if there is not a line, you will be told to sit wherever you wish. The table may not be cleared yet, so be patient. A waitress will come over to take your order and leave the order slip on your table. After you eat, take the slip to the register. Quick and easy. No hairnets or food prep gloves. If this bothers you, don't eat at WH. The All-Star breakfast with a pecan waffle is the best. I like the grits and city ham as sides. The sausage is also very good. The bacon is thin-sliced and is ok. I could do without the toast, but the white toast tastes better than the wheat. The All-Star packs about 1200 calories in a meal, so just skip the toast and call it brunch...or halve-it. I see other reviews where people are complaining about salads and biscuits and gravy. If you want salad, go to the nearby Souper Salad. I you want biscuits and gravy, to Cracker Barrel...only a few miles away. Stick with the All-Star at WH. I can't stop thinking about that delicious pecan waffle. On our last visit, my wife had a peanut butter waffle and enjoyed it. My daughter prefers the plain, buttermilk waffle. I do want to try the hash browns with toppings on my next visit as mentioned in other Yelp reviews. The food is quick and the service has always been good at the Fry location. If you ever travel to the east coast on I-10, you will pass a WH every few miles or so. read more

Well we just moved here from Cali 4wks ago. We ate here 5 times in the last week . Lol TODAY WE TIPPED THE WHOLE CREW!!! I love the camaraderie and Service from the employees. Everyone work well together. ( on first shift as I see. Big Mike and shout out to Big Easy ( cooks ) Big Easy I don't know his real name but he had a N.O. Tattoo , a soldier in the kitchen!!! All employees are on point. And shout out to lil mama and my girl from Rancho Cucamonga from where I moved from . What a coincidence . They all deserve a raise. If you eat there please tip. I was told to try one of this franchise out whenever in TX...... very disappointed ! Better off with McDonald breakfast than this. My steak was dried, salty elastic chewy. The grits clumped up like they pour it out frozen bag and heated up unevenly. While waiting i expressed we wanted new waffles because ours were getting cold and we wanted to eat it WITH our meal. She said that was fine (White older lady tattoo on I believe her left arm .. had pig tails ) she took our waffle and we decided to eat while waiting. By the time our whole meal was finished we still didn't receive our waffles, but brought us our ticket. I went up to the counter and said You can just take the waffles off we're ready to go. She told me my total was $31 and some change. I said " with the waffles we didn't eat?" She said "oh sorry let me fix that, your new total is $28 even" . $3 off from TWO waffles that was ordered? Went here for an out of town breakfast because we don't have them by us in Chicago. Simple menu but done well. Between my girlfriend and I we tried most of the staples they offer. The cheesy grits were good if you like that type of thing. Basic hash browns, bacon, and sausage but the kitchen is only five feet away and open so you can see that it is all cooked fresh to order. It is no surprise that the malted waffles are what to get when you come here. A little crunchy but fluffy and soft inside. Perfect to drown in syrup and devour. Service was very fast and the server was really nice. I would probably put this place over Denny's and IHOP if you want the basics but if you wantmore of a selection you might want to stick to the others or try a local dinner. read more

Been here twice. It is fairly good for what it is. We come to Houston regularly for my fiancé to see her doctor and this is right down the road. We have been here twice and I have enjoyed the service and food both times. I got their big breakfast spread both times. Has a waffle and I add pecans two eggs I get mine scrambled your choice of meat. Mine is bacon and I substitute crispy hashbrowns for the grits. This isn't fine dining but if you come with reasonable expectations I doubt you would be disappointed. My fiancé likes the lunch menu and while it was fairly crowded last time when I met up with my childhood best friend they didn't rush us out the door. My friend and fiancé were able to get to know each other on their first visit w one another. We all seemed pleased with our service and food. This is overall a very great place and as good a Waffle House as any I have been to. read more

Our visit here, to this location it was busy and the staff did an excellent job keeping the cleanliness up to par. The service, well, it was good. Great experience all around! We were seated promptly. Our meal was hot and fresh. The coffee never stopped coming. Samira was an excellent server and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. The restroom was surprisingly cool and clean as well. Went to get brunch with my boyfriend here and service was great. We went on a weekday so service was pretty quick since it's a slow day. Always hesitated to stop by because it just seemed weird and thought I wouldn't like it. After my wife finally convinced me to go try it out, we finally ended up going here. Although it did take some time for them to seat us, we did not mind and it was only about 10 minutes to wait, which is not too bad. As for the food, I must say that I was very impressed. The food was delicious. The hash browns they served were amazing and probably the best I've ever had. I love the idea that you can customize the hash browns and add cheese or toppings. Waffle House was good. Drove up to a small crowd but when we inquired about the wait the hostess said it was only twenty minutes. Unsure of the estimate we decided to trust her since the previous places we tried had an estimate wait time of 45 minutes. Coffee and a menu was offered to us as we waited for a table. Much to our surprise it didn't take too long to get a table and to speed things up one of the hostesses had taken our order why we were waiting. All for less than $10! The hash browns are the centerpiece with tons of options to customize the flavor. The waffle is a nice finish to a meal. If you want it to be a dessert, add chocolate chips. The service is not always great, but you can usually find a friendly waitress or cook somewhere in this place. If you want spotless and healthy, go somewhere else. THIS particular Waffle House is the worst I've been in inside the state of Texas. It just suffers in comparison to the one off of IH-10 and Rt 6. Or the one on Westheimer by Whole Foods. Or any one I've been to in Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, West Virginia, or Alabama. As another reviewer said, the waitstaff is there to do a job. Barely. My coffee mug had lipstick on it- not a smear but a whole lip print. Waitress got visibly angry when I mentioned it. I ordered the same meal at all the WH: the cheese eggs and raisin bread, with grits and coffee. Here the grits were obviously not fresh, lumpy and lukewarm. The eggs and cheese were barely mixed and the eggs were crumbly.The raisin toast did come out right but again I got attitude when I asked for butter for the grits. Also, I was charged $3 more than the other two restaurants. Not sure what that was about- I was shown a price card, but then why the difference from the other restaurants up the street?-, but instead of kicking up a fuss with the clearly annoyed waitress, I just left after paying. I'm a lover of Waffle House, so it pains me to say, but the one on Fry Rd leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe I'll try once more. Maybe not. read more

I know they aren't known for great customer service BUT THIS PLACE IS DESPICABLE.. my boyfriend and I walk in and sit immediately at the bar.. the place is NOT packed and everyone else in the bullring has already been helped.. few minutes go by and no one has even made eye contact with us and they KEEP casually walking by as if we don't exist.. few more minutes go by same thing! So my boyfriend goes excuse me we haven't been helped and then two employees proceed to go back and forth about WHOSE table it is.. in front of us like we can't hear.. disgusting service.. then one waitress asks is it for here or to go.. DOES IT MATTER.. do your job and SERVE the customers.. also two other employees - one is out loud complaining how he's tired as he walked passed us before we were helped and another pulled out her phone because she was "getting off soon" and "needed to call this Uber".. the manager and owner of this place should be ASHAMED.. it only gets ONE STAR because I have to and the food is good, but I shouldn't have to deal with absolute horrid service just for some Waffle House.
