I am very disappointed. Last week my boyfriend and I got a to-go order from this specific waffle house before going into the Asheville Outlets. He went in and ordered but I paid for it. We did not order anything different then we normally do at waffle house and our usual total is around 25-30 dollars. Now don't get me wrong the food was really good, but the next day I check my bank account and see that waffle house charged me around $10-12 more then what our total actually was. I do not understand why or how this happened but I am very upset about this. And from some of the other reviews I've read about this waffle house this has happened more than once so watch out. read more

This Waffle House actually had surprisingly good food. I know the food quality at most Waffle Houses depends on who is cooking at the time of your visit and I think we go lucky. The woman who helped my friend and I was very friendly and to care to make us exactly what we requested. We did wear masks into the restaurant and removed them when we were seated. We were not asked to wear them, nor did they have a sign requiring them, but I know this city had a mask ordinance (I'm from FL, where we do not have the same requirements as Asheville) so we just wore them until we were seated. We were the only customers in the restaurant at the time, so we were helped quickly and our food was prepared immediately. At this establishment you are able to watch your food being prepared, which I admit can be a good or a bad thing, depending on safety and sanitation practices. I noticed that the cook did not wear gloves, but I did see her wash her hands before preparing our food, so I chose not to say anything. I think this can be chalked up to a case of "you get what you pay for," and Waffle House isn't exactly fine dining, so I'm not complaining. I ordered the breakfast meal with two waffles, a scrambled egg, bacon and toast and my friend ordered a steak sandwich with a double order of "smothered and covered" hash browns (that's Waffle House speak for cheese and onions). My waffles had so many blueberries cooked into it that it was a deep purple color when I got my plate. It was surprisingly good, though. The hash browns were light and crispy -- a definite win for me, as there's not much I hate in life more than soggy hash browns. My eggs and toast were , well, eggs and toast. I will say that the portions were large and there was no way I could eat so of the food I was served in a sitting. I ended up boxing it up and taking it back to my hotel to eat the next morning for breakfast. My friend said the sandwich he got was really good, and his hash browns were excellent. It seems like the two things that stand out at Waffle House -- when you're in the mood for slightly greasy diner food -- are the waffles (hence the restaurant's name) and the hash browns. Everything else is pretty run-of-the-mill. I think our check total for everything was less then $20 before the tip. Our hostess/ waitress/cook/cashier extraordinaire checked in on us several times to see if we needed anything and made us feel really comfortable and relaxed while we were there. We shared a few laughs with her before we headed out and then left. Now for the real fun... when we walked outside, there was a Waffle House employee in uniform with her boyfriend feeding sausage and eggs to a giant Pit-bull directly in front of the exit door. There was another employee outside smoking right in front of the door. As they say, the only way out was though!!! This was comical, and after a pretty epic diner visit, it didn't seem to bother us much. If this send in any way offensive, you could have SEEN our hotel. Overall, for a Waffle House, this seems to be almost a "greatest hits" type of review. I honestly did have a good time and would definitely give it another go if I'm ever back in this part of Asheville. P.S. Also, the Asheville Outlets and several hotels (some classier than others) are within walking distance!!! read more

God I love Waffle House. It's always open and it's always good. This location meets both of those expectations. Elite or not, I'm not above reviewing the Waffle House. I'm still southern. When it comes to chains, I like to review them against the standard for that particular chain, and this Waffle House is above average, I think. Granted we were there on a Friday evening, not Saturday morning at 03:30 while everyone is trying to avoid a hangover, but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. This has to be one of the most welcoming Waffle House's you will ever go in to, the staff there all seem to try their best to make sure you are waited on and have your needs met. The server Lilith greeted us with a smile and was there as soon as we needed refills or anything to make our meal complete. The manager stopped by the table and offered her greetings and made us feel very welcome. The food is a nice change from some of the other fast food locations, and the knowledge that you can find somewhere to sit down and eat after everyone else has closed their dining rooms is also nice. read more

This is the cleanest waffle house I've ever been too. Staff was super friendly. Ordered the Texas bacon egg and cheese with a pecan waffle. It was made fresh and ready quickly. The breakfast sandwich was great. The pecan waffle was hot and out of this world. That's what make waffle house so good so is to be expected. When I placed my Togo order over the phone I ordered two orders of two scrambled eggs with cheese and hash brown diced (with tomatoes). When I got there I asked the guy that took my order over the phone and totaled my bill if there were tomatoes in the hash browns (because it looked like there were none and I was right). He lied to my face AND my eggs had no cheese in them. I even tipped more than 20% on a TOGO order. The employees here clearly don't give a fuck. They weren't even busy. My partner called in a to go order and was told it would be ready in ten minutes at 11:15pm. Upon arrival at 11:25pm the food had not been placed on the grill although there were only 5 customers in the restaurant. Working for the railroad and being in a taxi he said not to worry about it since they needed to go to the hotel. He said he would come and order something later. Later at 12:50am he walked down to the wafflehouse and went to order his food. They then offered him the entire order that they had cooked and packed in a to go box which included a chicken breast and a double order of hashbrowns with chili showing it was cooked and left there since they cooked it after he had said to forget the order and he might come back later. The food sat for over AN HOUR! I was on the phone with him the entire time and heard them offer to reheat it.. That is not safe and is disgusting. I'm not sure I know anyone who would eat food left sitting for an hour after canceling a non started order and returning. The railroaders ONLY stay in the Fairfield Inn by Marriott there due to the contract saying they have to stay somewhere within walking distance of a 24hour restaurant which in this case is only this wafflehouse. Their transportation driver actually stated he was surprised the wafflehouse even answered the phone to take the order initially in the first place. He requested new food despite being pushed to allow them to reheat the sitting chicken and soggy chili hashbrowns during the 12:50am conversation. This time only having two customers in the building they finally placed his food on the grill ten minutes later which during the ten minute window the waitresses sat in the corner laughing at the altercation and the cook was busy being overwhelmed by ONE simple order of another customer. If you plan to eat here, I highly recommend you have a lot of extra time, patience, watch your food be cooked (although they will still somehow mess up the order???) , and ensure that you are the only customer at the restaurant and go alone because two orders is apparently to much for one cook. We've ate at many wafflehouses and this was the most absurd situation I believe either of us have ever experienced or heard of. He had clearly stated for the order to not be put on and if he came back he would reorder. I have been on the phone for hours with him and heard all of both situations and had he agreed to eat hour old chicken, he could've been to ill to work when they call him for the train headed back home! He and others have had terrible experiences and will be requesting to be moved hotels since this wafflehouse location is unable to meet the same standards that other various wafflehouses meet, which unfortunately at no fault of the Fairfield Inn, may result in a financial loss of business since they work for a class one railroad. THIS WAFFLEHOUSE STORE NUMBER 1153 IS ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED and will most certainly be brought up to the hotel, the railroad union and the wafflehouse corporate leaders. read more

We went here for breakfast before touring the Biltmore Estate. The waitstaff was very nice. We had the biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. The biscuits and gravy were tasty, the biscuits had a nice brown on them. The hash browns were flavorful and cooked just right. Very good breakfast. read more
