Have you heard about Cook Out? Me neither. Apparently, it's a southern-only fast food joint that serves fried chicken sandwiches, burgers, and milkshakes. They had me at fried chicken sandwiches. After returning from Sierra Nevada, we required food to nosh. And this fit the bill on Patton Avenue. For my money, I enjoyed a spicy chicken sandwich with mini corndogs, and a peanut butter banana milkshake. Yeah, definitely not watching calories here. Just went for the tilt and I'm so glad I did. This did the trick after I had some beers at the brewery. While I enjoyed the spicy chicken sandwich and the corn dogs were tasty, I really loved the peanut butter banana milkshake, which holy fuck on a stick, this was amazing! I enjoyed every drop of the milkshake as I ate the chicken sandwich and mini corndogs. That held me over for a while needless to say.

Cookout is a fast food establishment that I do wish that we had here locally in Louisville. Because I would go there pretty often. It has great options they're cheap you can go and get corn dogs and hotdogs and fries and burgers and even tacos and things so it's definitely a fun place to check out and I go to a city that has a cookout we stop in and get it because I really enjoy their food

Halfway done with my burger and I had not bitten into any meat yet

I love Cook-Out, but this is probably the worst once I've ever been to. The indoor dining has been closed for awhile due to COVID-19, which is understandable. However our fries were old and the slaw was just cabbage with no Mayo or flavoring. The worst part was I ate half of my burger without hitting any burger patty. It was 1/3 the size it should have been unfortunately.

I recently took a cross country road trip and my route took me through Asheville. We met up with some friends of ours and the consuming of beers would ensue. After a few hours of this we were all tired and weary from our hard fought battle with the duel wielded 30 packs of Pabst. We needed some nourishment, and we needed it fast! We didn't know what to order or what was available. They suggested Cook Out. Being a New England transplant to Austin, I had never heard of this "Cook Out" they spoke of. We hit the road and good times would be had! We showed up at around 3 am and we had two dining options, drive thru and a walk up window with patio seating available. We opted for the patio seating and walk up, which ended up being an excellent choice! Our food came out very fast and it was super fresh. The best part of the patio however was the random assortment of Asheville locals that were all around. Some of these people were hilarious! As far as food goes I opted for the Cheeseburger Tray. This came with the sandwich, 2 sides (I chose chicken nuggets and fries) and a premium milk shake (I chose the Cheerwine Float, if you have never had Cheerwine, GET IT, its a local NC delicacy) I also decided to add a hot dog with extra onions. Having ordered this mass amount of food I easily though my food would be over $10, but I was pleasantly surprised when the cashier said my total was a little over $6 dollars! That's right all this for 6 beans! The food tasted great and for the price hey, you can't beat it! I can't wait to roll through NC on my way back to Austin so I can get me some COOK OUT!

Always good service and good food. My only complaint is that it is hard to get in and out of.

This is one of the slowest cookouts in existence. Be prepared to wait for 25 minutes when busy.

Always good food but the customer service is awful. Every time I've gone to this location I've had to wait in line for 30-45 minutes.

It was a nice night and inside was considerably louder. Our server was kind and friendly and went out of her way to make our evening enjoyable. A creative and fun menu is here, we tried a variety of things the night of our visit. Sushi, burgers and a bar. We started with the Dumplings appetizer along with some garlic herb Edamame and it was very good, we asked for eight shrimp and they were glad to adjust for us. Crispy and a nice crunch. It was a nice beginning. The soybeans were fresh and hot with a nice flavor also a good start. Next some Toro and Hamachi Sashimi, both were fresh and flavorful. Along with a California roll, it was true to type, nicely rolled and good flavor. Next I had the Sweet Heart Roll, an impressive presentation and work of art. Simply delicious and so flavorful. This was an excelleny choice. Then the Madness Fries, a pile of seasoned fries with a mound of shredded carb on top. This is simply insane, it was such a delicious bowl and the combination of salty fries with sweet crab. A winner. My partner had the Vegan, a beyond burger patty on a Millet Chai bun the way she wanted it and said it was very good too. We tried several different items and each was very good to better. All in all an excellent meal 4.5 Stars rounded up for the creative menu, presentation and kind service 01172

Our small group of friends chose to celebrate a Valentine's dinner. It is a limited menu but you will find something that will make you want more. We had a great version of shakshuka, this one containing not just (poached) eggs, tomatoes and zug sauce, but also roasted sweet potatoes. While the taste was great overall, the sweet potatoes are what really made this dish outstanding. We also had the lion's mane mushroom sandwich with fries. The lion's mane mushroom had a nice outside coating. The weird consistency of the mushrooms was more noticeable in this dish though than in the dinner entree we had here before, where the lion's mane was used in a gnocchi pasta. But the taste was still quite good. The fries here are always good, whether their basic ones or the Japanese-style seasoned Totoro fries. Service as usual was excellent -- friendly and efficient. Great brunch spot on the westside!
