This was my first time ever at a WaBa Grill. I'm definitely glad I tried it. The restaurant was clean and the person who took my order so very nice and helpful. I ordered the sweet and spicy chicken bowl, which was about all I could have there due to my specific food allergy. The food took a long time to make. That's understandable since they are making fresh food. It's just not as convenient for a quick bite. But the meal was very good and very fresh. I just wish there were more choices that were allergy friendly. I don't fault them on that, it's just limiting to me personally. I really liked what I got and will likely go again.

Visited on Customer Appreciation Day with my kids. We received two complimentary chicken bowls and cookie. I also ordered potstickers as a side. The cashier was very friendly! The food was prepared promptly! Now onto the food! The chicken tasted absolutely delicious! Very soft and juicy! The rice was cooked perfectly and I loved the waba sauce on top! The potstickers were VERY delicious and I dipped them with Boom Boom sauce and it was so good! Will definitely be returning to try other menu items! Thank you for the generous offer on Customer Appreciation Day!

I've had food here a few times now and it's pretty good. It's pretty similar to Flame Broiler, but I think I might like WaBa just a tad more because they offer seafood and other sauces other than teriyaki. One thing that I had that does not seem to be a regular item on the menu is the kimchi. I was such a big fan of the spicy cucumber kimchi here so I hope they bring it back. I know I can always make my own, but the sweetness and acidity was perfect. I recommend that spicy sauce on whatever protein you decide versus the teriyaki sauce. The teriyaki is not bad, but I like spiciness to my meal. As I mentioned above, food is similar to Flame Broiler. It has the base which is white rice, brown rice or salad and then your protein. They also have an option for picky eaters who are not a fan of the veggies to just have the rice and protein. The plus side is that they are a healthier choice versus Panda or other Asian/Asian inspired fast food places. I know they have 2 locations now and both are clean inside and the workers seem friendly. I don't have a lot of time these days to dine in at places so I'm a big fan of ordering online. That's a plus for me and for people who are in a rush during lunchtime. I am definitely a fan and I would come back. If you guys haven't tried WaBa Grill yet then you should check them out. Service is fast and both locations are located in a nice area. If you sign up to the rewards then you'll get goodies every now and then.

Not going to lie, when this place first opened we tried it, and didn't care for it. Today we were going to grab a sandwich from Jersey Mike, but seen a sign for their boom boom tacos. So we changed our minds. We tried one of each, chicken, steak, and shrimp. They were really good. Hopefully they keep them on the menu. The service was great. The reason for 3 stars is all of the tables were dirty and it took a good minuet to get our food.

Waba Grill is my new favorite eatery in the SW. So happy to have this so close to home. I always end up debating myself between a Veggie Bowl with half chicken/half steak and Spicy Waba sauce or the Spicy Asian salad. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. There is one man who is always there and works so hard. I assume he is the owner or the manager. Since I order takeout and always he takes a moment to go over every item before bagging my order. He never misses anything and I appreciate the clear communication. I use the app to order and I love the customer rewards. I earn points quick, and the rewards are always awesome, and I often have the choice if a free food item or a dollar amount off my total. We also got a free birthday bowl this year. The food is delicious, but this establishment faces stiff competition in this shopping center. I believe there are seven restaurants on this corner. The excellent service, the easy ordering, and the rewards are why we return most frequently to Waba Grill.

Why is it so empty?
Ivan B.

I only got 9 of my 10 dumplings which wasn't an issue but such an insult to charge .40 cents for a extra sauce cup and the sauce cup is basically empty. ??? Might as well sell an empty cup for .40 cents lol. The food is good per usual though haha

Beef bowl and dumplings

I was curious about WaBa because I heard a rumor that it was like Flame Broiler, but better. They do have more protein choices and they have dumplings and wontons. I ordered my dinner online for pick up. It was easy. I ordered a beef bowl with white rice and veggies, a 5 piece dumpling, wontons and a side of carrots and jalapeños. Drove over to pick it up. It was ready. Staff was friendly. I got home and opened the bag. No wontons. No carrots an jalapeños. Ok. Bowl and dumplings looked good. Veggies and rice were great. Meat was thin and kind of dry. WaBa sauce had a little kick. Dumplings were tasty, but I didn't really like the sweet and spicy sauce that came with them. I disagree with the rumor I'd heard.

Tried it for the first time and wasn't disappointed. Gives me flame broiler vibes but not as good as flame broiler but still good enough.

They were out of mini bowls and did not want to use a regular bowl and give mini size quantity. Frustrating but the food is good.

Don't waste your money. Customer service was average. The food was not good at all. The rice was mushy. I will not be returning.

Outstanding Service & Delicious Food!…read more I had such a great experience at Maui Pho, and I have to give a special shoutout to Amy for her amazing customer service! From the moment we walked in, Amy was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. She made us feel comfortable right away and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. She checked in at just the right times, gave great menu recommendations, and had such a positive attitude the entire time. On top of that, the food was incredible--fresh, flavorful, and served quickly. You can really tell they care about both the quality of their food and the experience they give their customers. Amy truly made our visit memorable. If you're coming here, definitely ask for her--you won't be disappointed! Can't wait to come back!

The menu is an interesting mix of Vietnamese, Chinese, and local Hawaiian dishes. The service was really friendly and the food was delicious. In comes my relationship with the Wonton soup. Quite frankly the relationship was inappropriate, toxic even. It really wasn't that good but I kept ordering it ???? With a touch of MSG and some probably costco bought wontons, I slowly returned to my original form. Now flip the narrative. One day after work I'm kinda sad... being an LA boy I missed my asian cuisine. Mom was out at MahJong and dad was idk planting flowers or something (he's retired now so I guess he picked up Botany). Out comes the beef chow fun. Quite frankly it itched my chinese tickle. You know its good when it's named "fun." That's "noodles" in Mandarin for my non-Mandarin friends. 5 out of 5. This ain't the country side of BeiJing but it'll do.

Our server only remembered she had us in her area as we waved our two fingers to get her attention. It was a quiet night. I could see 4 other patrons in the general seating area. (Regardless- she received a Fab tip) Our food order was disappointing. Our appetizer, Crab Cakes, was greasy. TWO cakes. ?!? Our Entrees comprised of small, decimated over cooked and over sauced small servings in square bowls... ?!? 4 shrimps in our "Stir Fry". Seriously?! When a customer has multiple orders, and everyone wants to sample a little bit of this and a little bit of that... Do not expect this experience from this restaurant. Not gonna happen. I went to this restaurant when they were downtown. Good experience. I have no idea what's going on now once they've relocated to the Marketplace. Money best spent if you were to just go to the nearby Vons and pick up your own Thai or Chinese food & cook it at home. I wish we would have gone somewhere else.. 1.5 stars. We will not be a returning customer.

We shared the garlic edamame which was my absolute favorite and the best edamame I had ever tasted whatever seasonings with the generous amount of garlic was just heavenly. If you like edamame you should love this one you won't be disappointed. I could literally have a bowl of this and a couple of Stella Artois for dinner and have the best night ever. We also shared the bulgogi bento box as well as two rolls, one being the lobster roll the other one being a spicy flaming roll which of course I forgot the name of but either way the ingredients were very fresh the roles were both full of ingredients and everything in the Bento Box, the fried rice the salad & the Bulgogi was tender, all were all tasty and reminiscent of a another restaurant in Bakersfield that is usually my Bento Box go-to. JIn Sushi could absolutely be my most favorite sushi place in Bakersfield if they fix a couple of little things It's only two problems I had with this place one was the seating issue, that they created when we first walked in I had a reservation and waited 25 minutes to be seated I only knew it was an issue because I talked to the lady behind me who had a appointment 15 minutes after mine with three friends and was seated before me, the whole process seemed unorganized and the young lady running it seem to be stressed trying to get it right. The next issue was me reading the health score violations during my extra 25 minute wait and trying to avoid any of the foods that were listed. Something I probably wouldn't have seen if I didn't have to wait 25 mins. after my reservation well researching any complaints about wait times. If management gets the seating issue corrected, and place up front who will stay up front and take command of the seating, keeping track of who comes in with reservations I think this would have been a overall better experience. However we will definitely try again.
