I have been to funerals where the deceased looked awful - not just the makeup, but the hair looked dirty and unkempt. Avance does the best job with mortuary makeup and hair I have ever seen. I remember they gave us all the time in the world, from carefully picking the casket, the flowers, and even transportation of the body all the way to southeastern Kentucky. My experience with them was good. It was several years ago and things may have changed, but I have nothing but good things to say about Avance.

I have been to a few funerals here, but only recently had to deal myself with arranging the funeral of my mom. All the staff, and especially Paul, were wonderful. What a joy for such decent humanity in the midst of terrible loss. Highly recommended.

I'm writing this review based on the funeral home's communication. I ordered flowers for a family…read moremember's service, but unfortunately, the florist was giving conflicting information regarding delivery. I wanted to make sure I had enough time to place another order if needed, since the service was the following day. I called the number listed for the funeral home and reached a phone service instead of the actual business. I provided my name, the name of the deceased, and my phone number. The representative didn't ask the reason for my call but said a director would return it. Three hours later, I followed up and reached another agent who informed me the funeral home was closed for the day but would still pass along the message. This time, I was able to explain that I was calling about a service happening the next day. It's been 72 hours since I left those messages, and I still haven't received a response. This doesn't sit well, as communication is a major part of service when planning for a loved one. I don't have a good impression of Walker Funeral Home and would not consider using them in the future.

I had questions about some things related to my mom's pre-funeral, post-passing away that the staff happily answered for me and they made me feel heard, along with them not rushing me out to handle the funeral that was going on at the same time as us meeting to plan my mom's arrangements. I was extremely appreciative of being heard with my questions by the staff, because it was an extremely stressful time for me with my mom passing away and my husband being extremely ill at the same time. The funeral for my mom in 2023 was very well done and the one for my dad in 2021 was also amazing. I will definitely use Cooper again, if there are any more deaths in the family, because they were amazing towards us. They did right by us and the funeral home was worth using for our funerary needs.
