This funeral home is the MOST unprofessional, inconsiderate and disorganized place I have EVER…read moreseen. They are extremely rude and use the harshest words during a time of complete grief! I have never been so angered towards a place of "business"! Everything from a HORRIBLY misspelled and written obituary (see photo below), to the way my friend (a grieving mother that lost her 10 year old son in a horrific accident) was treated!! This family was left ALL alone to "handle" the services! The director used words like "gory details" (referring to the paperwork) this precious mother had to sign. And saying "did the best we could, but he kept bleeding out" when referring to how horrible his makeup and body were presented to her!! He was the ONLY person "working" and they had 500+ people there showing love, respect and support!! They didn't even "test" the DVD player for the pictures and, of course, it wouldn't play! Instead, the family was told to put the DVD's in themselves! And when we brought it to his attention that it wasn't working, the funeral director said "well doesn't someone have a laptop"?!!! Are you kidding me??!!!!! This family is BEYOND grief stricken and instead of offering ANY type of help, we are asked if anyone has a laptop??!!! I was furious and brought ALL of this to his attention and was told "well I didn't mean to be rude" WHILE scouring at me when saying it! And might I add, NOTHING was different. He changed nothing! Not his tone (EVEN toward the mother of her sweet angel)!!! PLEASE I urge you to NOT use this funeral home in your time of need.

They helped us with our Mom in 2003 and my husband and I plan for them to do the same for us. Did not make my little Dad look like a clown. Natural. I HIGHLY recommend these wonderful folks!

Is it weird to 1) review a funeral home and 2) give it five stars?…read more When a shocking death occurred in our family, Moore's Funeral Home in Newtown was called upon for the arrangements. The folks running the show couldn't have been been more considerate and forward thinking during this very trying time. They listened to input from and appeased multiple family members while staying true to what the deceased would have appreciated. Their arrangements for the visitation were quite personalized, and the Moore's people were well prepared for the many, many, *many* people this visitation would bring. The line outside the funeral home was *very* long, and people from Moore's walked around asking if people needed anything and generally made sure all was as well as it could be. They had a guestbook to sign outside while in line and even provided lemonade on this extremely hot day. Inside, the same consideration was given. From photos to music to videos, Moore's provided so many ways to show the deceased's personality. And the venue did not feel like a funeral home (if you could see past certain items). There were so many windows and so much light, the home was so open and the decor was so tasteful that it felt very much like someone's house. The funeral itself went smoothly, as well. This was an intimate, family-only affair that began with a short, personalized service at the funeral home and proceeded to a nearby cemetery. Again, the people at Moore's were very gentle when transitioning us from one activity to the next, and they were quite attuned to when they should approach family members and when to give them some private time. Everyone at Moore's was quite kind and considerate to my family, and they certainly made this difficult time a bit more bearable.
