The level of communication incompetence: mis-scheduling, mis-quoting prices, sending two people out accidentally, adding random charges ($60 service call is added extra on top of their $89 show up fee, which was on top of their $89 estimate cost, and materials quoted has an extra line item for...."parts" making cost almost 80% higher than quote), straight up not showing, calling and saying that they were there when they weren't, asking us to be there immediately because "now they have time", having two different owner's tell me different things, having something "fixed" and it not working within 24 hours and charging more money to show up. These people absolutely suck. They were referred by Google's new business referral program. read more

Mike Saved Me on A Rainy Day. Today I couldn't close my garage door & gave Vulcan a call since they fixed my garage door 4 years ago. Mike picked up and said he was in his car and would pull over to help me. He called back on facetime and I should him the problem. He focused on the problem and said the latch needed to be parallel with the chain and suggested I play with it to see if I can fix. I got my pliers out and did a little straightening out and voila, the latch hooked into the pulley. The garage door now works to open and close. Thank you Mike; Vulcan is the Garage Door company!! read more

My son started his Mustang's engine and it lurched into our garage door. It's frustrating to try to find a place that can fix a problem beyond just installing a new garage door. I contacted Home Advisor and Mike, the owner of Vulcan Garage Services, called me and was pretty confident that he could handle refabricating our original wood tilt-up door to match our other garage door (3-car garage). He helped figure if we should go with 2 new metal doors or stay with wood. Mike employs a master carpenter who helped scout out the materials to match. I'm very satisfied with the price since I could see that Mike was making a lot of calls to compare door types and prices. The workmanship was top-notch, and I'm SO happy with the experience of getting my house fixed FAST with the Vulcan team. Bonus: Mike made us feel better knowing that they fix the car crashing into the garage door problem a LOT. read more

TLDR: They are expensive but I thought it was worth it. My garage door was acting up and I needed to get it fixed. I paid $20 for a diagnosis from another company and was told my limit needed to be reprogrammed and it could be done in 15 minutes for $200. That sounded way too expensive to me. Vulcan told me they would charge $60 to send someone and ~$90 to reprogram if that was indeed the issue. Vulcan's technician told me...actually, my limit is fine, and the problem is I only have one bad garage door spring when I need two for the weight of door that I have. The cost to redo the springs ended up being triple what the first company would have charged me for the limit fix, but I felt much more comfortable with the Vulcan technician's knowledge and demeanor. He was also able to explain and demonstrate to me how he reached his conclusions. While he was fixing my door, he did a very thorough job--unfortunately, this included replacing 4 brackets and that was added to my bill ($100). He told me that it was necessary, but I was disappointed that he didn't consult me first for something that would add a significant cost. Everyone from Vulcan who I talked to, whether on the phone or in person, was extremely professional and patient. They offered options and explanations and really worked with me to find a solution I was comfortable with. The managers who picked up the phone were experienced and were able to discuss the issue with me, while the other companies only had dispatchers who just told me how much it would cost to send someone. I spent A LOT more than I was expecting to, but I'm happy with my experience. read more

Hands down the best garage door contractor team you'll ever work with! Very trustworthy, patient and friendly with me as I would change my mind often and ask a lot of questions. I have the most beautiful garage door in my neighborhood. I highly recommend them for all your garage door needs. read more

Not even worth of 1 Star. 1: Extremely rude service. Person over the phone is rude and does not care to help you out. He kept my call on hold and then never called back. I called again and then Lady promised that someone will call in 1 hr and nobody called 2: They fixed the settings on my garage door and during that they damaged the garage door motor bulb. Now its does not lit and my garage is dark when door is opening or closing. When I asked for help they asked for 200+ door again. 3: This place very costly and does not provide good service either. They charged me 300$ for 20 mins service and also told me that my garage door motor is very old and needs replacement and that will cause 1500$. Its classic marketing tactic to scare the customer and charge them more. I would not recommend them. Please avoid. read more

As a business owner I never give bad reviews. I feel that a lot of people can be overly picky and complain about everything. This is not the case here. Micheal refused to make this right. Do not go through this company!!! I repeat do not go through this company for repairs. My aunt hired this company to repair her garage doors. The technician came out was very polite he did some repairs and said the garage doors are working fine. She let the company know that The garage system was still making a weird noise. They said that everything was installed correctly and that it correct it's self in time. Since the company was on the diamond Directory and had good reviews she trusted them. 8 days later the garage door stopped working. She called Micheal Fahey to let him know what happen. My aunt asked him to come out to check the problem. He immediately got upset and refused to come out and evaluate the situation. He said he could send someone out to give a quote which would cost $300 more. I do not feel that She should pay additional to have their work looked at. She tried working with him and my uncle even got on the phone. Micheal just kept yelling at them saying they do not know what they are talking about. This is such a shame they couldn't attempt to make this situation right. read more

These guys are amazing. We had a real problem when we mistakenly backed into our electric garage door. No way to get our car out to get to work. Called Michael who was so responsive and consoling. Before we could further panic, Chad and Tyrone were on site and not only did a great repair job, but followed up in making sure it was completely fixed. We could not more highly recommended this company. read more

Got spring repairs done from them in October 2018. That came with 5 year warranty. Spring broke yesterday. Called them and showed them the original invoice. They claimed that the invoice was fraudulent and was fabricated by a previous employee. Refuse to honor the warranty. Would never do business with them again. Excellent service, excellent work, even on our steep street and *not square* garage frame. Highly recommend!

My garage doors didn't work on Sunday. I guess it is the chain issue. Vulcan Garage responses quickly on Monday and schedule a visit in the afternoon. Michael came on time and quickly figured out the problem. Nothing significant. The doors were just stuck. He helped us fix the problem and helped us adjust the occlusion detection sensors, too. I called Vulcan to repair my residential garage door. The next day, a technician called to arrange a time, and arrived on time. He made a preliminary diagnosis, we discussed options and agreed what to do. He had the necessary parts and started work immediately. Chad and his team were great. They are polite, on time and very professional. Vulcan keeps it real with you and doesn't make you feel like you're getting played. They were precise with the installation and cleaned up after themselves. Their prices are reasonable and talking to many of other companies, they were the best - Others also agreed. You get what you pay for and you want good quality when it comes to your garage door. We are very happy with the results! The garage literally changed the whole look of our house. read more

I know contractors are all busy and if these guys don't need my business, good for them. But I was referred by a prominent fence company and Vulcan didn't call me back until I called, sent a text as they requested, and had to call again. I was asked to send an email which I did. Then a third guy calls, with no information and wanted to start the process over again. When I let him know I was unimpressed with their customer service the guy said he didn't want to do business with me. I don't know anything about their work, but the way they handled my bid request was unprofessional and that would probably be a good indicator of how they handle their customers, too. gw Livermore read more

For the second time in a few months Vulcan came through for me and my family. The first time I needed their help I was opening the garage and I heard a loud snap. A cable had disconnected but what I didn't realize is the spring had also busted. I searched and found Chad and he called back within minutes to schedule a time that day to come over. Chad and Cory examined everything suggested a fix and got to work right then and there. They were finished replacing the spring and installed a second one to make sure this problem never occurs again. Well the second time I needed them just happened. The garage door opened and then stopped half way. I checked everything I could think of and even power cycled the door lift. Nothing worked. I immediately got a hold of Chad and he came out the next day to help. Chad and Cory again assessed the situation and replaced my door opener with a new one in under an hour!! These guys are awesome! They are super quick to respond, knowledgeable and overall good dudes to deal with. If ever my family or any friends need garage door help you can bet Vulcan will be getting a call. Good price, installed quickly, looks and works great. What more can you ask?

They are very professional and did a good job in fixing the issue. My issue is the with amount of money they charge. For barely 30 min job with no parts involved, the charge was $270!!! So, avoid if you can. Call if you must. read more

Golly! Never giving these guys any business ever! They fixed my garage for $500. $250 for labor and $250 for the spring on top. I went to Lowe's and saw that the spring was only $25. They inflated the price 10 times the actual price of the spring! These guys are scammers! read more

Outstanding service. I live in the Los Gatos mountains and was very pleasantly surprised to get service the same day as my call. Service was very professional and they've stopped by same day but boy are they expensive! I've spent over one thousand Dollar for a garage door repair done in about an hour. Two springs had to be replaced for which they've quoted me $400 (You get those for $80 at Lowes). Paid another $80 for the center spring bearing. On top of that They've charged me $450 as "Racked door fee". I know it was kind of a dangerous job but $450 for a racked door which I helped the guy to put back in place anyway is a bit too much! read more

Was in a pinch... let me rephrase... My garage door was pinched and I had no way of closing it and had to go to work. Looked around for different quotes, but once I called Vulcan, I knew who I was going with. Was able to get a tech over to my house within the hour, and was able to get the door un-pinched and back on the road an hour later!! Pricing was all up front and the service and ability to share what was being changed / fixed happened on the spot. Highly recommend their service when in a Pinch! read more

I called VGS because of the positive reviews. I was informed by Chad that the developer (William Lyons) hired a contractor to install the garage doors for all units at Palmilla, and supposedly installed them using inferior products. I was quoted more than $800 for the shaft that holds the cable lifter and $585 to replace the Genie motor. I had second thoughts about the cost so I checked other garage door installers, and was quoted a lot less. It's always a great idea to do some ""legwork"" before proceeding to hire the first company you call. read more

Fantastic customer service! Found out my garage door spring broke and my car was stuck in the garage. I called early on a Sunday morning and was very fortunate to have one of the owners answer the call and not a answering service. He said he'd be there same morning.... he came and was able to help me get my car out. He said he didn't have the spring needed, so they were back early next morning and the work was done in less then an hour.... the price quoted was fair to better then other locations I called. Thank you Vulcan... you are a life saver! read more

1) STEPHEN, the BUSINESS OWNER! The technician spent about 30 mins and not 2 hours! 2) We have not replaced the springs ourselves! I told you on the phone as well! So that is an incorrect information. 3) I did not turn away another contractor! So another wrong information. We hired another contractor to replace the springs, because your technician wanted to charge a high price. 4) I did not turn down another contractor. My tenant called your technician and he brought down the garage door. So not sure what you are saying here! 5) I do not enjoy trashing companies down. I do not think it is fair for companies to abuse the situation and charge people high rates when they are in a vulnerable situation. Also, it was 6:30 pm on Saturday and not 9 pm. 6) I have no clue what you are talking about here! We did not talk in a FOREIGN LANGUAGE in front of anyone! You are being very rude by making wrong and baseless accusations and giving incorrect information here! You condescending, racist, and rude reply just confirms my review about your business and all the other bad reviews agree with me! Vulcan Garage Door Services uses its Diamond Certification to Gouge, with astronomically high charges. There is no way that a replaced torsion coil should cost $1,300+. And a slow, unprofessional newbie technician who could not itemize my receipt -- and asked if he could 'borrow' (aka bum) my garage-door lubricant spray. Beware of Vulcan Garage Door Services. And always ask for an estimate when setting the appointment. After this ghastly experience, I would go out of my way to Avoid A Diamond Certified Business, sorry to say. read more

Vulcan garage door services are the best. Chad was very helpful and informative with our garage door. If we could have given a zero review we would have done that. This company is the most unreliable and unresponsive company that we have dealt with in a very long time. Finally, we had enough and cancelled their service call. read more

I worked with Mike and Cori to get a quote on a garage door and a garage door opener (GDO). Mike arranged for Cori to come out and provide a quote. I also called a couple of other companies but neither would provide the option of painting the door. I decided to go with Vulcan and it was an excellent decision. Cori and Matt came to my home at 10:00 am and were finished by 2:00 pm. They did an excellent job and went over all the features of the GDO and the options I had purchased. Cori even programmed the GDO to both our vehicles. They cleaned up and left the garage in the same condition as when they started. The day they did the installation it was pouring rain, yet I did not hear any complaints from Matt or Cori. If you are looking for great pricing, a professional installation, and knowledgeable service staff I would highly recommend Vulcan. read more

They gave me a lower price than others and met their quoted price. They were reasonably punctual, showing up 30 minutes before the end of the two hour interval. He completed the job in one hour. Why not 5 star? He tried to upsell me for $35 bearings that only needed to be greased. He did not have the right size spring in the truck and used one slightly too strong that was OK, but not perfect. Most people would not notice, but I am a stickler for detail. I was going to replace the torsion spring on my garage door myself after it broke. I was looking for parts which most people do not want to sell because of the liability. They gave me a low enough price of $100 for a single door, I figured it was not worth doing myself, besides it is dangerous. I got other quotes for $175. I thought I would give an update since I was concerned that perhaps something bad would happen with the garage door that we had serviced in November. I am pleased to report it is January and my garage door is still working perfectly. I am not sure that Vulcans Quora reference supports their position. It states: ONCE YOU LEARN A FEW SAFETY TRICKS THE CHANCES ARE VERY LOW EVEN IF YOU ARE WORKING ON THEM. IF YOU HIRE OTHERS (THAT WOULD BE VULCAN), TO DO THE WORK, THE CHANCES OF BEING HURT BY THE SPRINGS YOURSELF ARE ALMOST ZERO. I assume Vulcan was experienced in fixing garage doors and therefore knew all industry safety tricks. Having all options and risks explained to me rather than starting off with significantly higher bid and giving other options that were EVEN HIGHER, did not gain my trust. Now that it is January and the door is still working perfectly (plus I saved potentially $1,453-$2,853 in repairs), I thought an update was appropriate. read more
