Before you, gentle reader, dive into this review, let me reassure you that I am more demanding than most in my expectations of Viet cuisine. I have first hand experience with a large variety of Viet dishes from Saigon, Thu Duc and Vung Tau, RVN whilst I was deployed at Long Binh Jail. That being said, I am a SoCal transplant and used to what I have considered to be among the BEST Viet dishes I have eaten anywhere. The basis of any decent phó is the broth. Normally, the broth is prepared 6-8 hours before the first bowl is prepared and served. Th broth at Vui had no depth or complexity; it is just broth. The noodles, veggies and meat (beef in our case) were already in the bowl when brought to us, not on a plate to be mixed into the broth. We also had their goi cuon, called summer rolls. They were meh. All in all, the phó was adequate to satisfy my craving, but nowhere near what I've come to expect. I have found 3 Viet restaurants in west Nashville that are worth the drive. read more

SUPER FRESH!! I absolutely loved everything I tried here which included: basil limeade, vegan pho, edamame dumplings, tofu bao bun, and Thai noodles. I gave up meat for Lent and I have a hard time eating out as a vegetarian, but almost every menu item here is customizable to vegetarian or vegan! Came here to grab a quick bite. I was greeted warmly and was served quickly. I ordered a Thai tea, spring rolls, and one bao. The pork on my boa had great flavor, the rolls were fresh, and the Thai tea tasted more like a chai tea. The staff was very friendly and the establishment was so clean and inviting. The first time I visited Vui's Kitchen was this same location in Gallatin. It was delicious. So disappointed with the restaurant today. When I first walked in it smelled like raw sewage. Against my better judgment, I ordered anyway and got it to go. I did tell the girl at the counter and she gave me a look like I was crazy. I ordered the rice bowl with chicken and the chicken did not look great, but I went ahead and started eating it only to find that there were many hairs in it. It look like whoever cooked the food had a beard and didn't cover it. Never going back. read more

How was first greeted by young lady named Savannah with an amazing smile. She began telling me about some of their dishes and bowls. I ordered the Vui's original Pho with the chicken. Savannah was back with my food faster than I had expected. I have to say it is something I would not ordinarily have ordered but it was amazingly delicious. There was a young man named Justin who came to my table several times to make sure everything was going well. His last trip to my table and bought me some rice tapioca pudding to try. This is my favorite place in Gallatin! Fresh, healthy, delicious food. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is always friendly. Once, my toddler was coloring with the crayons they provide and drew on the wall. I felt horrible and they were so kind and told me not to worry about it. I like to get the Vui bowl with chicken, but I've had almost everything on the menu and have liked everything. When we have visitors from out of town, this is where we take them. They have something for everyone--even my vegan sister! Their kids menu is also good, and kids are 1/2 price on Tuesdays. Additionally, they are willing to resolve issues. I once purchased a gift card online thinking it applied for a promo. When it didn't, I called and was contacted by their head of marketing. He made things right by adding extra rewards to my account. Food was fresh but customers need to be wary if they have allergies such as peanuts which are in certain sauces. My mother was unaware but we caught it in time. Service was good and quick to fix her spring roll which she ordered no protein due to being allergic to shrimp. The dine in area was quaint but spacious with comfortable bench seating. read more

Vui's brings typical Vietnamese foods to a quick order/deli environment. There is seating inside and out. I don't like the flow of the parking lot, watch for trucks cutting the corner. The menu has one of everything you expect (pho, noodles, banh mi) but there isn't much variety. I.e., pho has just 4 options: shrimp, chicken,, beef, vegetarian. I tried a sample of the fresh salad with grill chicken at the Yelp Space Cowboy Event at Space Adventures and was so impressed that went by yesterday to Vui's Kitchen to purchase. This dish was every bit as good as the dish that I tried at the Yelp event. Awesome lite dish to have with great flavoring. Didn't realize this place was a chain...but kinda had the "chain" like atmosphere. It's fine...according to my son the chicken pho could use more noodles and chicken...and less bean sprouts. The Banh Mi sandwich was pretty good...steak was a little cool , liked the veggies. Chicken dumplings were a little grainy...if that makes sense...but on the spicy side. I didn't love it but I also didn't hate it. What I like is that I don't have to drive into Nashville to get some pho BUT it's more of a fast food place and the staff acts that way. It's just okay. While we've only been once, we tried the pho and the original banh mi. The phones flavor which was nice but the banh mi bread was burned in places and really just didn't have a lot there. It felt like I was mostly eating burnt bread. I know they just opened not that long ago so we might give them another try but overall I'm not impressed. read more

My husband and I are from Los Angeles so we know what Vietnamese food is suppose to taste like. We currently reside in the Gallatin area so I was hoping that Vui's would be my new go-to place for Vietnamese cuisine. Unfortunately, I'd have to say that this is one of the WORST Vietnamese food I've ever had! :-( Ordered the veggie pho in beef broth, chicken skewers, veggie spring rolls, and steamed chicken dumplings. The veggie pho wasn't steaming hot like I was expecting, instead it tasted sour and lukewarm. The chicken skewers were bland, tasteless, and not cooked all the way through so we had to send it back. The second set of skewers came back to us completely burnt on the outside. Couldn't believe they were actually serving that to us. Even my dog won't eat burnt chicken! Needless to say, we won't be going back to Vui's. I was so hoping this place would work out so we wouldn't have to drive into Mt Juliet or Nashville for Vietnamese food but to our disappointment, there seem to be no viable options in the Gallatin area. read more

I've been in a search for good Vietnamese food since my relocation from Southern California. Unfortunately that search will not end here. I was super excited walking in as the customer service was great so I just KNEW the food was going to match it. (Deep sigh). I ordered "summer rolls" (spring rolls IMO) and a "noodle bowl" (vermicelli salad) with shrimp and beef. The spring rolls are pre made and packaged and if you know like I know, that's bad. Upon opening the spring rolls one was busted open and the other was stuck to it. The rice wrapper was hard and chewy on the end of the one I could salvage. The other I just ate the shrimp out of...leaving me with what looks like a salad. The peanut sauce that comes with the roll is more like a thickened soy sauce with chopped peanuts in it. As I'm not eating the noodle bowl just yet....I will return later for part 2. read more

The pho was alright but what really shocked me was the portion I received for the price. I ordered beef pho which was an up charge and I was fine with that. But I had to struggle to even find the beef under all the vegetables and noodles. And the pieces were so tiny. The charge is for a full size portion but it comes in a half size container. We tried 3 times and were never able to get it to work. I give up. We love your food, but you make it so hard to do business. I'm not sure who is the cook in this location but for sure need serious improvement. We had the pork belly banh mi. The bread is burnt and served as open faced sandwich. What makes the great banh mi is the bread . This definitely is not banh mi We also had the beef pho. The broth separates a good bowl of pho from a bowl of bouillon. The pho arrived lukewarm with all the fixings mixed with the bouillon soup. 2 leaves of basil and a chunk of onion. Vui's makes Vietnamese food approachable to a wider audience than most mom and pop shops typical of Charlotte ave or Antioch. The food is good and consistent. The dumplings are fantastic and the Pho is very good. It is quick, convenient, consistent and a good value. Management is great and follows up orders to ensure quality.
