Lovely studio on Haight street! Such friendly staff and challenging classes that make me feel strong and confident in my body. I love this studio so much! read more

Did not feel welcome, not a safe space! I used to take regular pole classes when I was visiting SoCal last year. I thought why not take it up again since it's a great workout and I have lots of SW friends I'd love to show off some new moves to! Nope. First off the into/beginner class is basically open gym for all the intermediate learners. I didn't have any help other than struggle to do inverts. The teachers solution to this problem wasn't to give me another task to do but to ignore me completely. I am not recommending this studio to anyone! I'd rather make the trip to Oakland where I am welcome to learn!! read more

Started taking classes here through ClassPass and fell in love with everything: the studio, community, good vibes, classes, people. I LOVE how everyone is soooo friendly, supportive and welcoming. The classes here aren't too crowded so you get a lot of attention from the instructors. The studio is also newer and extremely clean. After a few classes, I decided to go all in and purchase a monthly membership and let me tell you, every penny has been 100% worth it! Just after a month, I could feel myself getting stronger. It's been a little over two months now, and I have abs?! Unlike going to the gym and lifting weights, there's so much more functional strength required and gratification/satisfaction when you're able to complete a new move (inverting, no-handed leg hangs, etc). I'm not building strength to have pretty-looking muscles. I'm building strength to lift my heavy ass over my head LOL. The classes are all SO MUCH FUN and it doesn't even feel like you're working out, the best kind. As a former competitive figure skater, I've been looking for an activity to fill the dance-shaped hole in my heart - and I think I've found it!! Pole combines all the things I've been looking for: dance, artistry, athleticism, new challenges, community. My favorites are Monday evenings (Beginnner/Intro) with Patricia. My first classes with her were extremely intimidating. She really challenges and pushes you, but I kept on coming and I'm glad I did. Thurs evenings Exotic Choreo with Anna are also super fun and approachable. I'm so happy to have found this place! Excited for more classes and progress :) read more

I had a free month of ClassPass and like everyone else, I bought into that, "new year, new me" bullshit at the start of 2020. After scoping the many barre, pilates, yoga, and HIIT class options I knew I wanted to save some of my credits for something a little more exciting so I opted for an intro to pole dancing class with Miss Melanie. I signed up for a 4:45 PM class and was able to find street parking about a block away. I walked in at about 4:53, signed a quick waiver and made my way to the rest of the warm-up. I've taken a pole dancing class a year ago, but I feel like I learned more about proper technique during this session with Miss Melanie in comparison to my last class. If you're scared of pole dancing I can highly recommend Miss Melanie. She was supportive, made me feel comfortable with my awkward body rolls and at the end of the session I left feeling stronger and more flexible than I had an hour before. The day after, I went to a Barry's Bootcamp session with my friends and it really made me think about my class at VRV3. While Barry's may be more "intense," it wasn't as fun as pole dancing--and if I'm spending ~$35 a session, I should have some sort of fun, right? Learning the mechanics of pole dancing kept my mind busy enough that I wasn't thinking about how much longer I had left in the workout but I still felt the soreness of a good exercise the next day. I'm the type of person that hated the conditioning portion of training when playing team sports in high school. As an adult without after school sports, I lose motivation going to normal, train-yourself gyms. Group classes/HIIT coaches are no better and usually give me flashbacks of coaches yelling at me and my teammates when I was 15. Too long didn't read? - Miss Melanie is super informational and supportive. If you're scared of trying pole, I recommend her class! - The studio is clean and comfortable. Street parking wasn't too hard to find - Pole dancing seems intimidating since you think you need to get in shape first before doing all these flips with exposed skin, but the environment was super inclusive and non-judgmental. I can't really do a full push-up but still felt I took away a lot from the lesson read more

VRV3 is the best! I've been attending classes for years. The staff is incredibly welcoming but also provides the coaching you need to reach your pole goals. Anyone considering trying aerial sports should come to a class!! Thanks VRV3! read more

Joining this studio was one of my new year's resolutions and I am so grateful I followed through! I am embarrassingly new to all things pole and aerial but the instructors have been so encouraging and supportive (Carlie and Os are my faves). The environment is so welcoming and inclusive. I'm moving across town and will still be coming here :) read more

I wanted to take 2 classes before writing a review. I came here for a pole (Intro) class which was with RIO and absolutely fell in love with the art of pole dancing. Our instructor was warm and welcoming, For me I felt she going a little too fast for an intro class as the moves were intricate. The Second Intro class was with VIX, very welcoming and chill. She was a little slower with her instructions and gave us more time in between each moves. Personally that worked out better for me. Overall good experience, I had a lot of fun; however It's a group class so If you truly wanna learn, A pole at home is a must, to practice! read more

Been coming here for a couple months and it has been such a fun experience! All the instructors are very knowledgeable, supportive, and kind. The vibe is really inclusive and friendly which makes taking class here really fun! The instructors are really good at catering to different skill levels in the class and providing options and progressions. There's also a wide variety of classes to take for different interests and always something new to learn. The classes are a good size and length to really warm up and get attention too! I would highly recommend this studio to anyone looking to get into a new hobby :) read more

I started taking aerial hoop at VRV3 in May and I couldn't be happier to be a part of this community! There are so many amazing instructors who are also just lovely humans to spend time with. The studio is always clean (no outside shoes allowed), and there's a changing area, cubbies for your belongings, plus cold water in the kitchen if you need a refill. Always tons of fun classes offered here, and a variety of food/drink nearby in case you need to refuel after class :) read more

Love this studio - I started coming here with limited pole background and zero other aerial experience. The instructors and community are so helpful, warm, and welcoming. Each teacher has breakdowns of every move and progressions to work toward harder moves alongside helpful cueing and spotting . I'd highly recommend any class here. You will feel capable and safe at any level. read more

I've been coming here for a little over a month now. The space is clean and roomy, and the instructors are super patient. No need to have any level of fitness or experience before coming, as they'll work with you and provide you with doable variations on what they're teaching. Just finished a set of four Intro to Pole sessions and can't wait to keep learning! read more

I take their class at other location for three month now. Instructors all are very sweet and knowledgeable. Has various class for different level student. Even for people like me who barely exercise for whole my life can enjoy it. At first I think doing pole can help me release back pain and correct my position since I sit in front of computer for too long. But after consistently taking class. I just love doing pole because it's a beautiful art mixing strength and elegance. This new location is going to be bigger and with more equipment so I am very excited about it. read more

I just went to my 2nd Intro to Pole class! I loved that even though I'm so new I came out of the class feeling like I'd accomplished something! It's really fun, kinda scary, but you WILL learn how to do some moves. Looking forward to going back! Oh yeah, the environment is super inclusive and friendly, too. read more

Friendly relaxed studio with teachers who know how to make people welcome. Not intimidating at all and everything taken step by step. Went to the Lyra class and had a ball. read more

I started coming here for pole classes 6 months ago with no dance/pole background and fell in love! I was nervous at first when coming but all the staff were so friendly and welcoming that once I was there, I had so much fun! There's a variety of classes for all different skill levels. There's pole classes, choreo classes, flexibility and even Lyra! I haven't tried Lyra yet but I'm excited to try it at some point in time. I definitely recommend this studio for anyone who's looking into pole! read more

I've been coming to VRV3 for more than a year now and it feels like a second home. I was drawn to this studio because I loved how the instructors explained and broke down movements while emphasizing safety. VRV3 is a body positive space and I walk out of the studio feeling more confident about myself than when I first come in! BIG shoutouts to Miss Melanie, Judy, Os, Nixie, Masha, Rack City Vic, Vix, Hanna, and Rio! They are all amazing! read more

Signed up for an Intro to Pole class here through ClassPass last month - my first pole class ever! Class starts with a semi-intense warm up to get your heart pumping and your muscles loose, and then we spent about an hour on the pole. In that hour, the instructor taught us enough basics for a small routine! Very very excited for future classes at VRV3 :) read more

I've been taking classes here for over a year and I've learned so much and gotten so strong! All the teachers have been really talented, body positive, and careful about making sure I build skills and strength/flexibility, which is kind of important if I'm hanging 6 feet off the ground and upside down. The vibe is generally really positive. I really recommend their beginner series for anyone who is curious about pole, and the conditioning classes have been a game changer. read more

Knew it was love before we even met. The plethora of creative classes, central location and amazingly reasonable rates had my heart all a flutter. And then I took a class and fell more deeply in love that it got my whole life feeling a flutter. The studio, teachers and students are fantastic. If you're looking for something to shake up your spirit, to brighten your day or get sexy strong this is the place. Thank you VRV3! Love you! read more

LITERALLY MY SECOND HOME. I started poling at VRV3 a year and a half ago (when it was just the North Beach location), going just once a week, but now I'm hopelessly addicted and feel incomplete if I haven't taken at least 5 classes per week. The new studio is big and clean (no street shoes allowed! Leave them at the shoe rack in the front) - upstairs has 8-10 poles and 2-3 Lyra/straps setups. Downstairs is completely padded for dancing/floorwork and has ~10 easily removable poles. They also have yoga mats for warmup/flexy and plenty of crash mats for each pole. The pole classes (intro, beginning, mixed, etc) are focused on learning and finessing moves and combos - good if your looking for a more 'athletic' workout. They also have choreo (exotic and non-exotic) and low flow/floorwork classes, which are more dance-y. Other classes include flexibility, handstands, Lyra, conditioning, open studio practice - make sure to check their schedule for new additions/substitutions! FYI the North Beach studio has class series - where you can take several classes with a set group of other students. The instructors have different teaching styles but all are kind and accommodating - don't be afraid to ask questions/clarifications or ask for easier alternatives to moves. Also let them know of any injuries - safety first! Come and make pole friends! read more

I've been taking classes here for the past year and a half. I have tons of fun and coming here is the highlight of my day

I have been taking classes at Vrv3 for 3 years now and I absolutely love it! The teachers are friendly, supportive and empowering. I could never have possibly imagined doing the tricks I can do now. I started with pole but now I also love lyra and flying pole. I've even come to appreciate conditioning and flexibility classes. The studio is well-equipped, the atmosphere is fun and inclusive. And more than a studio, it really is a community. Special shoutout to Nicole, Mel, Anna, Patricia, Bethlayne, Vix, Kayla, Joey, Carlie, Judy and everyone else :) read more

This is my favorite aerial fitness studio. The community is welcoming and the teachers are great at breaking down the technical aspects to keep you safe while achieving great results. I highly recommend bringing a friend (or make new friends while there). read more

OMG I just took my first class here and I'm ADDICTED!! I took the Intro to Pole with Miss Melanie who was an excellent instructor. I was actually really impressed with how many skills we learned in just one class! Our instructor was great at breaking things down to the basics, as well as adding new things to try for the those who were ready to. It was challenging but progress felt accessible. The studio itself is really nice too: well cared for, lots of space, plenty of props if you need, and room for everyone to have a pole or share with a buddy. I'm also really glad to have found this place so close to my house. There's plenty of class offerings, so consistency feels attainable with my busy schedule. Environment/community was welcoming, and I can't wait to come back! read more

Tried my first pole class today and had the pleasure of having Patricia N. She was really helpful and thorough. She made the class really fun. Can't wait to go back again with her! read more

I had trouble finding a studio that I loved when I moved from San Diego back to the bay area until I took my first class at Vrv3. Classes: I really enjoy taking classes there because the instructors are really good about making things challenging yet accessible. I never leave bored or discouraged. Class selection: There's so many different classes on the schedule. If you like choreo, there's plenty of those. If you want to work on flexibility or conditioning, they have several throughout the week as well. They split classes by level, but also have mixed level classes, which are interesting to take! Studio: I love the studio. The main floor has 14ft 45mm stainless steel poles, and an area for straps and lyra as well. Downstairs has additional (shorter) poles for choreo and intro classes that don't need as much height. Not sure if it's important to you, but it is to me-- every student gets their own towel to wipe down the poles, which is huge. There are dressing rooms, a bathroom, a water cooler. There's no shoes allowed in the studio (shoe rack by the door) which I see as a huge plus, especially considering any kind of floor work that we might be doing-- hey, SF streets are dirty! Community: The teachers are awesome and incredibly talented, and the students are super encouraging regardless of their levels! I've made several friends in the classes and love meeting new people who come in. Location: I started taking classes at the north beach location before the haight location opened. The haight studio is so much better for me because I drive in (coming from out of the city so bussing is hard), meaning parking is a huge deal. read more

I've been going to VRV3 on and off for about 2 years, sometimes having to take time off due to a focus on other sports or injuries, but the instructors have always been super helpful and patient with my getting back on the pole after absences - working around my knee issue and offering encouraging words and support on my somewhat slower than average pole journey. The Haight studio is open and bright, and has added amenities since opening. The original North Beach studio is still in use, but has limited hours and focuses more on workshops and class series. Aside from pole classes there are also lyra, straps, handstand, flexibility, and choreography classes. Everyone has been very welcoming and I always leave feeling like I got a good workout. read more

Never been pole dancing in my life and the intro class was absolutely great especially when you have no clue what you''re doing. Don't worryy about arm strength or anything its hard for everyone and it was loads of fun! read more

I started attending pole classes here several months ago and i love this studio! The instructors are super helpful, friendly, and ask pronouns every class I've enjoyed taking classes in different styles and progressing to mid-beginner. Sunny and clean studio. I signed up for the 20 package deal with a friend without knowing anything about the studio. I was pleasantly surprised how welcoming the staff is! So far, I've taken pole intro classes with Victoria and Rio, and Exotic Pole Choreo with Victoria. All the classes have been super fun, creative, and technical all at the same time! I also really appreciate the variety in the instructors' personalities, as it translates through the moves and choreo they teach in their classes. Looking forward to more pole classes and getting to know more of the instructors! read more

I took the Intro to Pole class with Melanie is it was awesome. It was difficult as I expected but Melanie was so kind and super patient with all of us. She encouraged us to ask questions and made us feel comfortable in the space. She was able to break down moves and techniques so clearly. I am definitely coming back! The space is also nice! read more

Amazing studio, with experienced instructors that care about seeing their students progress in a safe way, while encouraging them to really tap into their potential. The classes I take on a regular basis are the Low Flow and Int/Adv Exotic classes with Mimimidnight - she is the best instructor of exotic style pole dance in the Bay Area in my opinion. She is extremely creative in her choreographies and provides tips on how to make dance moves your own, with emotion and artistry. Anna and Melanie are extremely passionate and hardworking owners of the studio who go above and beyond to make their students happy, and often bring international pole artists to conduct workshops. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to try a pole class for the first time, as well as the experienced polers seeking inspiration and a community that will empower to reach their highest potential. Love the VRV3 family! read more

This studio is AMAZING. The classes are very focused, and they are long enough to get a good amount of practice in. The instructors are awesome! They break down the moves into easier steps, and I felt like I could still get a lot of one on one instruction even in a group class. There is a lot of time available to practice a move repeatedly until you understand it. You can even rent some time in the studio just to practice. It's a women run business and studio full of badasses! I took Intro to Pole with Miss Melanie and Intro to Exotic with Neon. Both instructors really broke down the moves, making them easy to remember. Neon's class was so sassy and fun! I can't wait to take another class here. read more

Took an intro to pole class with Patricia and it was awesome - learned how to dip, firefighter spin, and flutter kick :)

This studio is clean and professional--and everyone who works there is incredibly nice and welcoming. That being said, I don't think this studio is for everyone. It is great if you only want to learn the technical aspects of pole, not the dancing. They push you pretty hard and fast, which can feel a little discouraging if you're like me and have zero experience with pole, dance, gymnastics, yoga, or rock climbing. I felt like I was surrounded by people who already had experience or learned really quickly. I also felt that the lack of structure did not work for me. You take intro courses until you feel ready to take beginner, but then you see different people every week with huge differences in ability. I tried a different studio that had a much more structured format, moved much more slowly, and heavily emphasized the dancing aspect of pole. It was a much better fit for me. But if you are already strong and flexible, this studio is probably a great fit! read more
