I joined Rae Studios as a beginner dancer in 2024. Since then, the studio has been the highlight of my life in San Francisco. Every single teacher at Rae puts their all in. They take the time to look at you, what you're doing, and help you learn, adjust, and get to know your body more. I'm an unlimited member, but the $25 per class (or whatever it is), is the best way to spend $25 in San Francisco. Not exaggerating. Jess is such an experienced coach. She moves like water. She watches your body, and understands how it works. She makes hands on adjustments. Being in class with her - I truly feel like I'm with a professional-grade artist. Power Barre is a must, for any dancer, any fan of Pilates, or anyone who just wants a lean, toned dancer bod. And Pop Jam is so much fun. I've also taken Jazz Funk with Tashi, which is the BEST way to start a Monday. It's beginner friendly, but you learn technique. She's fun, lively, hilarious. Every single person is beaming when they leave her class. Drenched with Anna is also a pleasure. She's a delight to watch. A true athlete in her flow. It's a real workout! Belly Dance with Andrea was a surprise to me. I had no idea what Belly Dance was until I took this class. As it turns out, Belly Dance is like a mix of Pilates and Booty shaking. I didn't think I could move so precisely, but Andrea is such a good teacher, and so good at explaining the moves - I believe she can teach anyone how to Belly Dance. She has a thorough understanding of the history, the culture, and the artistry. Hip Hop with Mahi - the most energetic ball of fun there is. She's effortless. Drenched with Diamond - another great workout, and a delightful way to spend a Saturday morning. I love to take my girlfriends and get brunch in Union Square afterwards. Also, the Rae Studios Showcase was SO much fun. You get training in how to perform as a group. The adrenaline is intoxicating. There are people who do four per season, is how fun it is. How many opportunities in life are there to perform? Rae Studios makes this accessible to everyone. The world is tough right now. We could all use a little more dance and light in our lives. Check out Rae! read more

Love Rae studios, long overdue review: Convenient location near Union Square, a short walk from Powell station. You will need to ring the studios for them to buzz you into the building and take the elevator up to the 7th floor. Beware, the elevator can take a hot minute, so get there early! There is usually a receptionist that can help check you in, but you can also self check-in via their tablet in the bigger room. That room also has a dressing room for those that need to change clothing. There is a key for the bathroom. There is a waiting room and cubbies to place your stuff and high end water fountains. I'm glad that Rae studios has partnered with Wellhub/Gympass, This week I took a regular kpop class with Oche for the first time. I have done the performance workshop series with Fran last fall. Both Oche and Fran are great teachers, super energetic, thorough warmups and always checking in if we have questions on the choreography. Also both are super stylish!! Typically, you can see what song is being taught on Rae Studio's Instagram the day before the class. I've also taken several of the free kpop classes at Civic Center with Fran. For the free class, it is on the other side of the outdoor gym. It can get loud during events nearby, but Fran does her best to be loud and clear. As for the performance workshop, it was fun but the day of the performance was quite chaotic. The lights were different than how it was during the rehearsal runs and it was super disappointing when the music cut out. On the bright side, I felt like our group got to know each other well and even held a potluck together! I probably won't do another performance workshop series anytime soon, but will definitely keep coming to the regular and free classes. read more

They have great beginner's classes for free at UN Plaza so you can see the instructors and how they run classes. I've taken Hip Hop, Drenched and other classes and the instructors are great. Beginner classes are very accessible to real beginners! read more

Diamond's DRENCHED! class was so much funnn!! I am a genuine beginner and I felt very welcome and found the dances energizing and approachable. Highly recommend! read more

Have taken the fall performance workshop series as well as UN plaza classes and it's been so much fun! Fran was a really great teacher for these and was able to give me feedback and answer questions when I had them. As someone relatively new to kpop dance as well as dance in general, I felt really welcomed, supported and encouraged. In the UN plaza classes, even though they were short, I felt like the breakdown of the moves and choreo was really well paced, and we had ample run throughs to get more confident with the dance. The performance workshop was especially fun! Got to meet really awesome people and I liked learning how to spend time in rehearsals as a team learning and perfecting a dance for a performance. Fran also went above and beyond with our rehearsals, often spending extra time with us so we could really get everything nailed down. Would definitely take more classes here, and especially would love to have Fran as a teacher again! read more

ive been part of Rae studio for 3 years now! Everytime I take a class I always have fun and make friends easily. I love going to TiAna, Jackson, Sarah, Caroline and Oche's classes when I get the chance. Even though I moved far from the studio I'm still close with the staff/instructors that I danced with! read more

Dropped into Oche's class on a whim because I have previously taken classes with him at another studio. Recently moved up to the city and I've been wanting to explore closer studio options and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful ambiance of the studio. It's clean and well decorated! The staff were friendly and the waiting area is really cute. The drop in class price feels like a steal with how much classes across the Bay Area have been in comparison. Heads up, when the elevator is down be prepared to climb up 7 flights of stairs! I promise it's worth the trip though! read more

I've been joining the Barre Fridays with Jessica Rae at Mission Rock, and it makes my Friday mornings so much fun! It's been an amazing way to get back into working out after pregnancy -- and my 6-month-old baby loves the fresh air and music too! Thank you so much, Jessica, for this amazing class! read more

I took the Thursday night beginner/intermediate class with Annabelle and loved it! She was really fun and a good teacher. I hadn't danced in 10 years but she did a great job at accommodating my low skill level while still being able to instruct those at a higher level than me (someone there used to do musical theater professionally!) I learned a lot and we accomplished a lot more than I thought I could in 1 hour read more

Found out about this studio through the free classes they are hosting all over the city. When you attend the free class, you get a $5 discount code for their regular classes in their studio. I signed up for a Friday night kpop class and it was so crowded but the instructor was great. Learned a lot and got active in an hour. The studio runs hot so dress accordingly. They also have a resting area where you can come early, changing room, and water dispenser. read more

Perhaps you've seen an Airbnb advertisement suggesting a trip to Seoul with a stay including a free K-pop dance lesson. In part, it inspired my decision to take advantage of the free K-pop dance classes offered by Rae Studios in the Civic Center Monday and Tuesday evenings. I'm so thankful to Sassi and Andy who teach a fun class open to all levels. I'm very much a beginner, am always made to feel welcomed and included, and am always impressed at the enthusiasm and skill in teaching the choreo to everyone at a wide range of experience levels. My joy of being a San Franciscan is buoyed by K-pop offered to us all by Rae Studios. Pinkies Up!!! read more

I took the BollyX Class with Linden Cady at the UN Plaza and it was the absolute best time! Linden came in with so much energy and I was amazed at how she kept up with it the entire time. She was so engaging and also made sure we all were having fun throughout the class. I loved how she incorporated several songs throughout the class and I had fun just dancing to different types such as a little bit of Bhangra style but also classic Bollywood steps. Overall a great class and I will definitely be back next week! read more

I have been taking their Monday UN Plaza class for KPop taught by Fran with a friend and it has become our weekly girls date honestly. We always had a great time. Fran is very welcoming and detailed oriented. She makes sure our questions are heard and went over parts we had trouble with. Even if I already know the dance, I learned something new every time I attended. I would recommend anyone to come and join their classes! read more

Jasper is the shuffle energizer bunny and an absolutely incredible teacher. Being a movement teacher myself, I know how hard it can be to verbally convey movement. Not everyone can do it and very few do it well. He is exceptional! Counts, musicality, physics, he does it all with his own unique bright positive energy. He is STAR! Shuffling has brought so much positive challenge , fun , and joy to my life... and to be so lucky to have the opportunity to learn from Jasper is the golden cherry on top. Thank you Jasper and thank you Rae Studio! I'm filled with gratitude. read more

I took Fran's KPOP class at UN Plaza for the first time on Monday 12/8 and I had a great time! She was very thorough in her teaching and made sure everyone was able to follow along. Went for the first time today, was very excited for the class before going and once I got there, the studio space is really nice. But then the instructor was late and didn't ask my name or anything about me, tho was chatting with the other participants. I felt unwelcome. 0 individual attention through class even though there were only like five people, kinda like watching a video but she was also forgetting the choreo. Everything felt rushed. So eh, I would rather go elsewhere I love the initiative with free classes and like a lot of ideas the studio has but sadly the paid class wasn't a good experience read more

There's truly nothing like Rae Studios Union Plaza classes -- it's the heartbeat of San Francisco in motion. Drenched is a phenomenal cardio dance class that will completely change how you think about working out. Imagine a Sunday morning under the gorgeous Civic Center skyline, music blasting, energy radiating through every beat -- and when class ends, you just stroll right into the Farmers Market. It's the most quintessential SF morning you could dream of. And then there's Salsa. Dancing as the sun sets and the city lights start to twinkle feels like stepping into a movie scene. It's pure joy -- movement, rhythm, and connection all wrapped into one. If you want to feel alive, connected, and part of something beautiful, Rae Studios Union Plaza classes is where it's at. read more

I feel like I have found my new home. I can't believe I just learned of Rae Studios a few days ago when searching for shuffle dance classes in the city. I went to my first class there yesterday, and it was an amazing experience. The space is clean, well-appointed, and beautiful, everyone is super friendly, the location is central, and the prices are reasonable. I want to give a huge shout out to Jasper Sanchez, the shuffle dance teacher, who is awesome!! His beginner class is truly for beginners, and although I was nervous I'd be the worst one there, his clear teaching style and calmness put me at ease quickly. I came out of the class smiling and cannot wait to go back!! read more

Japanese pop, kpop, hip hop and shuffling classes I attended are great amazing how they can be free too throughout the city.

Jessica is an awesome instructor. She brings great energy to every class and really challenges you both mentally and physically. I signed up for my first class and they cancelled it less than an hour before it started. I was already on my way and they did not offer a refund, only class credit. They only gave me 30 days to use the class credit. This was ridiculous as I had an upcoming trip and wouldn't be able to use it in time. I asked for a refund and was told to email the manager. The email was wrong and bounced back. I could not get in contact with the manager. Customer support was terrible. I ended up taking the class with an extension of the credit. I enjoyed it, but it felt a bit rushed. Decent class but terrible customer service. read more
