I've been on a group workout class kick and stumbled upon The Bar Method-FiDi once when I was…read morewalking back home from downtown. Workout classes are not cheap, but what drew me to the Bar Method was the sign outside that said 13 classes for $78 (use within 60 days.) That comes out to be $6/class! What a steal! I'd never done barre before, but have pilates and yoga experience. I liked Barre because it toned so many different areas! We started with upper body, then moved down the body to legs and glutes and calves and abs! I liked how the class attendees were much more diverse (age, ethnicity, size) than pilates classes. It's very inclusive. Owner Noreen was the instructor and she was very helpful, guiding me and others to have better form. There are pads for when we kneel and sit. The studio is clean and airy. I like their no cell phone policy--too many people in other studios use cell phones during class and it's distracting! I also liked seeing the check-in counter woman diligently cleaning the locker area outside the class room. We take off our shoes there before going in, and it seemed clean. Will be back!

I took classes online & at other locations but the San Francisco studio closed last year & we were so sad. So, when we heard that The Bar Method was opening up in the Financial District, we all did our happy dance. I signed up for the 5:30 Bar Method class & it was great to see some familiar faces & meet the studio owners (they also own the San Mateo & Palo Alto studios). It was a great class, fun & very effective & I know that I will be sore tomorrow. Looking forward to taking more classes soon!

I arrived early to check in so I would have time to get situated before class. Hannah was kind and helpful and her colleague that checked me in (I forgot her name) was friendly too. This location has plenty of lockers where you store your belongings. It is recommended to bring your own mat and towel, so you don't have to rent them. This cost is waived on your first visit. Also, definitely bring a water bottle. They have a fill-up station close to the lockers. Ashley was a wonderful instructor and I thought she did a great job with explaining poses and the pace was comfortable. She was helpful with adjustments and instructions. I will say the room was quite warm and it was challenging at first, but staying hydrated and grabbing a cool towel will help. You can always step out to take a quick breather or refill water, if needed. The locker room is alright, but they only have 3 showers and bathroom stalls, so you may need to wait. Definitely recommend bringing a towel, change of clothes, and a pair of shower sandals. I was totally drenched after class, and didn't want to head out without showering and changing. It was a good workout, and I'd be open to trying out another class or two in the future. Recommend checking out Hot 8 Yoga if you're interested in a class & curious about hot yoga!

I took a Yoga Sculpt class and the instructor was great. There's water and salt plus yoga mats and towels to rent. My favorite touch was of course the cold eucalyptus towels which were so refreshing at the end of class!

When I walked…read morethrough the entrance and down the steps, there was a lovely little garden space that brought me a deeper sense of calm. Isabel checked me in at the front and lent me a yoga mat for rent. There were rooms on each floor, but the class I took was on the top floor which was a cozy space with natural lighting. I took Erica's hatha class and it was just what I needed. She was kind and encouraged students to listen to their bodies, not forcing themselves into positions and taking rest when needed/wanted, all the while offering challenging versions of various asanas. She walked the room and offered feedback and verbal adjustments. I've been feeling really out of touch with my practice on many levels, but there was a compliment she paid me that really gave me affirmation on my yoga journey (yes, we're supposed to detach from the ego, but sometimes we need to hear that we're doing okay).

There is really a sense of community and it is welcoming to new students. The classes are generally challenging but doable for most levels and I like that the flow is relatively predictable so you can catch on. The class is warm and friendly, allowing you to voice what you wanna focus on without being 'too strict.' Yoga mat are available to rent for $3 and you can store your mat at the studio if you're a member as well.

I tried out the Newbie unlimited pass, and was going about 3-4 times a week. What I love about this studio is that they seem to have instructors that are more invested with each of its clients. For instance, the instructors call out participants by name saying how great they are doing in a move. I also like how some instructors incorporate arm weights into the class, which look tiny, but are quite strenuous. My favorite instructors are Corri, Ina, Ariel, and Mara. After being here for a few months, I'd say 90% of the instructors are good, and you will get a good workout in. Some things I don't like about the studio are the booking options for the classes. By first glance, it looks impossible to book a class, as the options are almost always "waitlist only." I am pulled off the waitlist about 80% of the time, but not always. I always feel like in general, it's annoying to be put on a waitlist, instead of being confirmed right away. In addition, if I could change the membership options, what I would change is the options for classes per month. It skips from 8 classes/month to 12 classes/month, which is a big jump. Wish there was an option in between to choose from. Another bummer is the mirrors in the class. 80% of the reformer machines have mirrors on all sides, but there are a few spots that don't have many options, so it's hard to see yourself in the mirror to correct yourself. The parking is really easy in this area, which is amazing. Even in broad daylight, the residential parking a block down and over are free for 2-4 hours! Love that! In general, I really love this studio and would recommend if you want to try Reformer pilates.

I did 2 morning classes which worked out perfectly for my schedule and the parking outside (street cleaning so be aware of the days, also no meter paying until 9AM). The studio is very well setup, spacious and clean with good ventilation/ac. Reformers are staggered with lots of mirror around and motivational words up top (love that!). I appreciate the little baskets each reformer has for our personal items, such as smart way to keep out things in one place, next to us! Very high 4 stars rating, only things that brings it down is its soo pricey for a membership or per session... but that's a Pilates reformer class anywhere you go. Nevertheless, definitely worth the try and I just may be back every once in a while!
