***UPDATE***
Wow, I should've expected the business owner to reply in an unprofessional, condescending manner as many other reviewers experienced below (just take a look at Chadd's responses to negative feedback and criticism!).
Chadd, I actually liked your studio, and was hoping you would be reasonable and responsible in handling the matter. Instead, you flagrantly attack me with nonsense. You even threaten me that you will publicly reply if I do not remove my review! Well, do not worry, I will post a screenshot of the ridiculously immature message you sent me and let the Yelp community decide what kind of business owner you are for themselves.
In response to the unprofessional message you sent me, which I am posting a screenshot of:
1 - You do not first attempt to ask me about the situation, for more details, or anything that a reasonable business owner would do. Instead, you attack me with wild accusations and poorly constructed arguments in defense of Margaret. At the end, you make a half-hearted attempt to ask me to reach out to you, stating that if I don't, my review is "just a petty attack." Well, Chadd, I have reached out to you, on Yelp, and I'm sorry that this is the best response and "customer service" you could come up with.
2 - You claim that what happened today was not all on Margaret. Good, I also said that the other employee said a choice word to Margaret, so it looks like we agree on something. However, you then allege that Margaret does not treat any of the other employees in a condescending way, nor do they have a problem with her. Are you saying "other employees" to mean employees other than the one that Margaret treated poorly today? Thus, implying that she did in fact treat that one employee condescendingly as I have pointed out in my review? Then why not own up the fact that your employee, Margaret, acted inappropriately and deal with it like a good business owner?
3 - You attack my choice to maintain my anonymity. Well, seeing how poorly, aggressively, and confrontationally you've responded, I am absolutely glad I did remain anonymous. It is hilarious that you own a yoga studio, yet you clearly need a lesson in mindfulness meditation to calm yourself back down to reality. What is wrong with remaining anonymous anyways? Did you run out of reasonable arguments that actually pertain to the situation today? Why not just stay on topic with what happened instead of argue like a child?
4 - You claim that I do not know the actual story behind all this. In fact, I was actually there and witnessed the event. Where were you? You certainly weren't there to see what happened, and thus are the least qualified to comment about the actual story.
As promised, I have updated my review accordingly, from 3 stars to 1. Thanks Chadd.
***END UPDATE***
I've been coming to this studio for a few months now and have mixed feelings about the place. Generally, I love the chill vibe and atmosphere, and the variety of classes to keep things interesting. The drawback is the hit or miss employees. Some are very friendly, attentive, on top of things, some could be more proactive with cleaning and maintaing the facility, but one employee in particular, Margaret, is somewhat of a "bad apple" dragging down the experience of what is otherwise a top-notch yoga studio.
Today I witnessed an exchange between the bad apple and another employee, prompting me to finally write this long overdue review. As I've seen on numerous occasions, Margaret interacts with her co-workers in a rude, condescending manner. It is extremely unprofessional and aggravating to watch. When the other employee stood up for herself, Margaret immediately shuts her down and attempts to blame the employee for interrupting her with her customers. The employee walks away calling Margaret a choice word, which isn't the best to do from a business perspective. However, I was actually impressed that someone finally stood up as it is clear that management is either unaware of or failed to address Margaret's persistent behavior. Margaret proceeds to bad mouth the other employee to the clients and play victim.
It is absolutely absurd the level of privilege and narcissism Margaret has. As a business manager myself, she is the type of employee I often dread the most, causing internal conflict with good employees and ultimately negatively impacting the business and image to customers. It is comical that she thinks it's ok to act to rude and unprofessional to co-workers in front of clients, yet cry and play victim when someone calls her out. Also, openly bad mouthing other employees to clients is harmful for the business image and should be kept private.
It is difficult to leave anything but a 5 star review, but I cannot do so in good conscience. I hope management takes notice of this issue, and steps in to deal with Margaret appropriately and put her in her place. If so, I'll update my review accordingly. Thanks. read more
