My husband and I originally signed up for their free, 45-min dance lesson last winter. We had such a great time trying out lots of different dance styles that we ended up signing up for a 4-class intro package to continue trying out new styles. Again, we had so much fun that, after we got engaged, we decided to up our package to the 10-class so that we could have the team help us choreograph and teach us our first dance. I gave them the song, a HUGE list of video inspiration, and Katia & Kat clearly watched all of it to make sure they captured what I wanted that could be learn in the 4 or so weeks we had to learn everything! In creating the choreo, they were fully prepared with a vision, worked in all my feedback, created something we really loved, and were wonderful teachers! It was a routine with many moves I'm sure we'll be having fun with for the rest of our lives! While we didn't have a chance to take advantage of it that much, the group dance classes that come with being a student also looked so fun and I wish we had had more time to go. read more

The studio has all appearances of a franchise cash cow. The cost is about $150 for a forty minute private lesson (five minutes reserved for writing notes). The floors are scuffed, and many lightbulbs in the overhead fixtures are always burned out. The turnover of teachers is rapid. Most disturbing, the owners Chris and Daisy, have not dealt with a recent Covid outbreak in an efficient or effective manner. They are unresponsive to attempts to communicate. A star for flexible scheduling and some kind people -- but unfortunately instruction for our first dance was an awkward fail and I didn't appreciate the pushy sales tactics. Prior to our lesson we sent the studio 25 seconds of a YouTube dance from a BBC show routine that we had practiced at home and wanted to fine tune, but when it came to lesson time our instructor Marcus could not remember the dance or keep the moves straight. Every time we'd go over it he'd change the choreography and then tell us he was simplifying it for "our" own benefit. It was really confusing to follow, as you can imagine, and they charged over $150 per 45 min lesson for a BS package. In the middle of our short lesson he workshopped the choreography with another dancer Mario who was more helpful, but most of our lesson time was just Marcus trying to figure out what to do, so time was already wasted. And then each lesson was cut short by a few minutes already. It was not a good use of time for us. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but when Marcus called me to schedule more lessons, I reminded him what I said to him at my last lesson that we are out of town for my wedding in a couple days and can't come in again (not that I was interested). Instead of a "congrats", a "good luck with the dance" or any acknowledgement of my wedding, once he realized I wouldn't be paying more to the studio he abruptly ended call with "ok have a nice day". I have been taking lessons here for more than 4y. At first I really enjoyed it, but recently I've had very negative experience. The staff were really friendly and it was a perfect place for beginners. During the pandemic, unfortunately they had a lot of staff turnover and change of location. Even that, I was still taking lessons (many virtual lessons with the same price), and tried to accommodate the change and support the studio. This year, I have not been able to take lessons because none of the staff is able to teach on Saturdays; therefore I requested a refund for my prepaid lessons. It has been 2 months with tens of emails, and I am deeply disappointed with their lack of responsiveness. read more

My boyfriend bought a Groupon from this studio for a fun date. I'm so glad he did. He purchased 4 private dance lessons which was really good for our different skill level. The one on one interaction is great since you don't feel the pressure from the other dancers in a standard class. There were at least 15 different dance genres to choose from and we opted for: bachata, salsa, marangai, and swing. After the 4 dance classes, we feel very in-sync which each other's body language and the music! Would highly recommend this place. It's located in a good location and the space is great as it has big rooms with high vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light. My fiancé and I have been taking dance lessons in anticipation of our wedding later this month. Good luck placed us with Christina during our free consultation, and we have loved getting to know her and learning to dance over the last couple of months. Not only is Christina fun to be around, she is a great teacher... we have learned so much and feel so comfortable on the dance floor. Sometimes our lessons have fallen on busy days and we've dragged our heels to the studio, but every time, we leave in a fantastic mood and are so happy we went. Christina is wonderful, but so is pretty much everyone we've met at the studio -- special shoutouts to William and Isreal too! Arthur Murray is the BEST dance studio!! My husband and I took dance classes there for our wedding first dance, which took place back in October 2019! This review is long overdue :) It was a classic ballroom style dance with a waltz flair, and we loved it! My dad and I had a surprise father daughter dance that incorporated elements of the songs "Baby Got Back", "Sexy Back", "YMCA", and "Baby Dont Hurt Me". NURIYA and TAYLOR are the BEST!! They went over our choreography seamlessly and made my husband and my father so so comfortable. My husband has two left feet and he literally danced his way out of the studio!! Especially for the surprise father and daughter dance! It started off as a classic ballroom style dance then turned into a hip hop choreography and Nuriya choreographed it so easily for my dad, he LOVED it!! It was so fun and a huge surprise for our wedding guests, our dance was a hit at the wedding and made guests get up and dance!! My husband and I are so thankful for Arthur Murray, this is definitely the studio to go to for your first wedding dance and Salsa dancing and ANY dance in general!! I highly recommend this dance studio. I drive all the way from Palo Alto to San Francisco for my lessons with Chris, an exceptional dancer and instructor. The Instructors are simply outstanding and experienced. They teach all levels of salsa, rumba, waltz, argentine tango, samba, .... Some of the instructors are professional ballroom dancers, therefore with exceptional mastery of technics, which is key in conveying the easy and fast way of learning any dance. I can't believe how in one year I can dance the Argentine tango, salsa, some rumba, some pasodoble... Private lessons and group lessons are available for all sorts of budget. My husband and I signed up for classes with Arthur Murray San Francisco to prepare for our wedding. When I called the studio to inquire, a friendly woman named Eva answered the phone, she answered my questions and set us up for our lessons with Christina. I was very excited to start lessons. I danced tap-jazz-ballet as a child and young adult, but only "free styled" on the dance floor at events throughout my adult life (same for my husband). Eva welcomed us to the studio and gave us a lay of the land then introduced us to Christina. Christina was our instructor throughout our wedding prep sessions and found ways to manage both of our learning styles and strengths. She built us up and gave us moves that felt comfortable and natural to the both us, building our confidence dancing together (and apart). She took a genuine interest in our success. The wedding came and went, but we weren't ready to give up our dance lessons, especially because it gives us an outlet to work on building a skill together, being active, and having fun. Christina keeps us focused, but KEEPS IT FUN. A natural people person, she makes you feel comfortable when you make mistakes and gives tools to counteract the "mistakes." Highly professional and experienced, she gives us 100% attention during our lessons. If she wasn't as fabulous as she is, I'm not sure we would have continued with lessons post-wedding. The studio is very well run and the group classes provide a great outlet for practice and dancing with other partners as well. It's an investment, but one that is well worth it. If you are looking to learn something new and have fun in the process, the team at Arthur Murray SF can get you on the dance floor and give you the confidence to stay there! PS. Attended my first private lesson with William D. last night along with a Master Class and Group Party. The facilities are just perfectly San Francisco and it feels intimate without being stuffy. The instructors are all really friendly and bring an amazing energy to the space. It somehow seems just right to be doing everything from WC Swing to the Country Two Step with others having just as much fun swirling around you! I love that they have two side by side ballrooms allowing for different events to be going on simultaneously without distraction. Late night parking it easy to be had right on Oak street in the lot by the laundromat for only $12 making it a dream for those of you like me who think arriving right on time is early :) Go take your first lesson free and let your concerns around "will I look silly??" go :) read more

We cannot say enough good things about this place. We took advantage of a Groupon to get 4 lessons in before our wedding and we are so glad that we did. Christina was our instructor and she was phenomenal. They were patient and adapted quickly to my fiance and my different learning styles.
