Phở Tái / Rare Flap Meat Pho
    Trevor N.

I truly do not want to hurt their great ratings, because the food is genuinely good. The broth is very tasty, and this is coming from someone who is Vietnamese and absolutely loves pho. The space itself is beautiful. It feels new, airy, and open, with high ceilings and plenty of parking, which makes coming here very easy and comfortable. That said, I do want to share one small but honest experience. The background music was stuck in a very short loop, about fifteen seconds long, repeating over and over. Sitting through that for around thirty minutes honestly felt a bit like a torture chamber. I did mention it to the server, but unfortunately it was not fixed during my visit. Also, bean sprouts and basil are not automatically served and need to be requested. Even with those small issues, they really have a lot going for them. The broth alone is worth coming back for, and the restaurant has great potential. I genuinely hope they continue to improve, because this place could easily become a favor

3.5 stars but rounded up because I would go back. My friend and I came here for dinner on a Sunday evening. It was pretty quiet, so we were seated upon arrival. Food: I started with the avocado cheese wontons as I was surprised they weren't crab rangoons. They were pretty good. I would order them again. I ordered the vegetarian pho, and it was as I expected it. Service: Service was ultimately okay. Our server didn't check up on us during our meal at all. My vegetarian pho came out later than my friends regular pho as well. TL;DR - not bad food, a little slow service

One of my local favorites! I really love their flavors and the depth of the broth in their pho, i think the one that made my best friend get is like a dry rub noodle dish but then there's like a side of broth but we like to mix it together . The rice dishes are nice as well. We got a side of fries and coconut juice and that was delicious as well. Service is excellent and Ambience is perfect and cozy and to be honest there's not too many amazing pho places on this side of San Jose so it's great to have one near me.

Garlic noodles with beef 2/5 More butter taste than garlic. Beef was tough. Pork & Egg with Rice 2/5 Everything was a bit dry. Grilled pork with vermicelli 4/5 Good flavor, tender pork. Would have liked to have a little more protein, though.

One of my favorite Vietnamese spots in the Campbell area. San Jose is not too far from Campbell but if I'm feeling under the weather and not up to taking a drive, I make a stop at VPho I usually opt for the Vermicelli Bowl or the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef and Pork Noodle Soup). The Bun Bo Hue is rich and fatty with a nice mild spice. If you aren't familiar with the flavor, it can be quite pungent but I generally enjoy the complexity of flavor of BBH compared to Pho. My partner usually goes for the Beef Pho. When you're under the weather, pho feels like a miracle cure. If you like chicken pho but prefer the darker meat cuts of chicken, check out their Free Range Chicken Pho. It's reminiscent of the chicken you would often find when eating a Vietnamese style chicken salad (Goi Ga).

Late night pho spot in Campbell?!? That's an automatic 3/5 minimum. Anything extra is just a bonus. Very surprised and excited that there's a pho restaurant that opens all the way til 10:30pm. I honestly didn't even care if it was good the day I walked in. Sometimes you just need a late night bowl on a cold day after a long day of work. The interior is deceivingly huge. The main dining room has super tall ceilings and they have booths quite literally everywhere. Tables are kind of high though. There's a more intimate dining room closer to the entrance by the bar. Service is nice. They're quick to order and come by a few times. It does feel kind of spooky because it's so empty and there wasn't music playing. The Safeway gas station lights also don't help the plaza look that inviting. Very convenient location though with plenty of parking. Ordered the house combination pho with fresh noodles which was a dollar ($1) upgrade. That stacked with the automatic 4% surcharge for credit cards brings the bowl up to $17.46 before tax. Really not a terrible price for this side of town. The noodles were great, meats were tasty, soup was lacking in depth. Not very beefy and didn't come out piping hot. It was still very enjoyable and I did finish. Overall, I can't quite push this to a 4/5 as there are better options in the area during the day time. It's right at a 3.5/5 for me (7/10). I would return and explore the rest of the menu when I'm lazy to drive across town. Great for the area. Food is a very respectable 3/5, half point bump for late hours every day. 11pm-3pm, 5pm-10:30pm at the time of this review. Hoping to update the review soon!

Couple thoughts: Ambience is amazing, usually pho places don't have the best seating arrangements and are cramped and crowded wjth hardly any seats. Vpho is very modern. Food was tasty and flavorful. Ordered the House Pho as well as the veggie broth. Your standard pho, thought they were a tad short on the meat. The table was a bit unstable, which was annoying but we dealt with it. The service here is not very fast. There was only 1-2 people on the clock and the restaurant was less than 20% full and it took a really long time to get the bill as well as utensils/ other items we wanted. Wish they had more staff.

After a long day of shopping, we decided to stop by here to order some food to go. We were greeted right away by a friendly waiter upon entering the restaurant. They have an extensive menu and they serve liquor as well. We ordered the grilled pork and egg rice plate, grilled chicken banh mi, and grilled pork banh mi. We waited for about 15 to 20 minutes for our order. The grilled pork was tender and juicy. The egg was cooked sunny side up. The bread for the banh mi sandwiches were very crispy and crunchy. The grilled chicken and pork were flavorful. The jalapeños added an extra kick to it. The prices are fairly reasonable and they were generous with the portions. We'll be back to try their pho and garlic noodles.

I love coming here on my days off to fill up on this pho and I always get an extra serving of egg noodles. I don't know if it's authentic pho, but I really like it; I'm literally obsessed with this soup. It's a nice spot, and there's parking nearby. I love sitting outside because the internet doesn't work inside. Or does it? I didn't ask. The staff here are very polite and friendly. I recommend it if you like rich, hearty soups with plenty of meat.

When we got inside, we were seated in the lounge area for dinner. Let's just say our knees were basically at our chests because two of us are 6'1" and 6'4". Thankfully, the team was incredibly accommodating and was able to find us a booth that worked much better. The atmosphere? SO good. We absolutely loved the vibe. But the service... I can't even begin to say enough about how amazing it was. Camille was TOP NOTCH! She could handle every ounce of sarcasm we threw her way , and she consistently went above and beyond. If something didn't seem quite right, she was immediately there offering to make it right. We started with drinks, and I ordered the Spicy Marg. It came out without the spice, even though Camille had warned me beforehand that it was going to have some heat. She immediately offered to take it back and have it remade, but honestly, it was still really good and I didn't want to waste it. If it had sucked, trust me, I would've said something! My next favorite was the Fig'n Around. Not only because I'm married into a fig family , but because it was genuinely delicious. And one thing I really appreciated about both drinks was that they weren't overly sweet. Now... DINNER. We asked Camille for her recommendation between the 40 oz Tomahawk and the 30 oz Ribeye. She initially recommended the Tomahawk, but once we added the Captain's Catch to the order, she suggested we go with the Ribeye instead since there would already be plenty of food for all four of us. And she was absolutely right. Everything we had was SO good. The only real negative I walked away with that night was the mac & cheese. It was a little overcooked, which is exactly why I usually stay away from pasta. BUT -- do NOT let that deter you from coming here. That was such a minor thing compared to the overall experience. I honestly cannot wait until I'm back in the area because I will absolutely be going back. I'm already craving everything we had that night! Oh, and the saddest part of the whole evening... I ordered the white chocolate bread pudding to go and STILL haven't tasted it. I completely forgot about it because I'm not usually a dessert person! If you go, ask for Camille's section if she's working. She was fantastic. And no, before anyone asks -- I do NOT know Camille outside of this experience. She was just genuinely that good.

The halibut was also good, and the basil sauce made it even better. I was already super impressed with everything but I think the stars were the 2 desserts. The Dubai cheesecake was an Italian style cheesecake, so it was a lot lighter than I was expecting (which was welcomed) and captured the essence of Dubai chocolate without being too overwhelming. I thought some dishes were great; the wagyu burger was decadent. Other dishes were not that special. The scallops didn't taste too fresh (likely frozen) and combining them with hummus didn't quite work. The side of bread was practically insulting. $5 for stale table bread was a surprise. Dishes arrived very late; we were nearly forgotten when we tried to order, and then after ordering, we waited 40 minutes between appetizers and the main course. Not because they were cooking it; they just forgot we were there and when they brought out the dishes, the scallops were no longer just-cooked, and the burger had been sitting for a bit. No apology, just an acknowledgment it was late, and no discount (not even on the stale bread). They offered us wine, we said we didn't drink, and they just moved on. I debated a lot about how to review this. It's my personal experience that was disappointing, and I'm glad some reviews are very upbeat. Anyway, I met up with some friends here last weekend and we had a reservation at Alter Ego. I guess it's technically 2 places with Still OG. I have to say, I have really fond memories of Original Gravity from back in the day (ah, the days of my youth...) so it's nice that it's still sort of around though.. technically completely different since there's no more craft beer or duck fat fries lol. We hung out at our table for the whole night, like 4 hours. We all ordered cocktails off the menu and later on ordered some stuff off the menu based on the bartender's suggestion. I first ordered a Calabrian Spritz from the menu which hit the spot for me. Personally, I am not a hard alcohol fan but I enjoy wine and fun lil cocktails that are slightly sweet/not super strong lol. So this drink was nice because it wasn't too sweet and had a lot of volume (I like just sipping on stuff in general and it sucks when you order a cocktail that's like 3 sips of liquid and the rest is ice). The next cocktail I ordered was off the menu and called Like This or That (I think). I think it was some sort of passionfruit + vodka mix and very delicious! We also ordered the cold soba noodles and fries. Fries were crinkle cut and nicely crispy, no complaints. Soba noodles were also good, though some component of it was really spicy, I think the cucumbers. Overall I had a good time here and look forward to coming back, though given how little I go out, who knows when that will be haha.

Every ingredient is fresh not pre made unless you get the on tap cocktails. When you walk in it has an inviting atmosphere and the Kaylen who is the bartender is welcoming to both regulars and those who are new to the bar. I had a drink called the Macintosh which is so refreshing but not overly sweet which I enjoyed.

My husband and I had a baby free night out to celebrate my birthday and haberdasher did not disappoint. We went soon after opening so there was no line but I know they tend to have one later in the evening. We were greeted warmly at the door by the attendant who checked our ids. I was even wished a happy early birthday. When going into the bar, you walk down a staircase into a space that makes you forget you're in downtown San Jose with beautiful reds and burgundy decor. The staff is all smartly dressed; the bartender and bar back were both sweet and funny. I ordered a jack rose (my all time favorite), their seasonal watermelon waltz (this may be a new favorite for me, nice and refreshing) and one of their zero proof cocktails called a Mariposa which was soooo good as well. My husband ordered a couple old fashioned and a watermelon waltz for himself. We had an amazing time and look forward to coming back in the future.

I have never once been disappointed with a dish, and I love trying new dishes on their menu. The staff is awesome, and the place has a cool astehtic vibe. I highly recommend, just know that it is a bit pricey but the experience is totally worth it. P.S. they give you palate cleaners snack in between courses for free. I had hibiscus herbal tea and and an adorable mini waffle cone, filled with crème fraîche, and topped with caviar (honestly never thought I'd like caviar before trying out this place for the first time).

A solid 4 star, approaching 4.5 star…read more We had a birthday dinner celebration this Saturday night. The fact that the restaurant is in the heart of San Jose downtown poses pros and cons. It is a great place for bar crawlers and party goers, but in the day where we ran into a Sharks game, a $25 parking fee is an unavoidable loss. Eos & Nyx is big and pretty, it's hard to miss. The huge glass walls, green plants inside that reminds you of RH Roof are pleasant. The bars are beautiful, the tables are set elegantly. We were seated upstairs, the only thing I wish was a restroom upstairs, but the bar there was beautiful and we had less traffic, which was nice. I also like that each of the restroom stall has its own sink and paper towels. All they missed is a mirror, which was covered in the public areas of the restroom. Service was good. Upon checking in, we were warmly greeted by the hosts and the farewell was also proper. Brian took good care of us; introducing the menu, refilling water, small talks, clearing dirty dishes and replacing them before the next entree, everything is a check mark done right. I also got a card signed by the team to wish a happy birthday. Through and through, they presented the birthday wish warm and well. As for food, I like the options on the menu. Plenty of sharable choices, big plates for pasta, meat, pizza and also lots of drink choices. Even 0 proof has some fancy options. We ordered Hamachi Crudo, Leafy Things (Spinach / endive / strawberry / halloumi / pecans), and Scallops (Hokkaido scallops / legumes / wasabi / turnip / gremolata) from Sharable. Then we followed Brian's recommendation and picked Rigatoni (Short rib ragu / pecorino romano / peas / carrot) and N.Y. Strip 12 Oz (Celeriac espuma / black garlic / bone marrow reduction) for entrees. We wrapped it up with a Tahini & Caramel ice cream for dessert. The Hamachi Crudo tasted fresh and it has avocado mesh but a tad too much lemon juice for me. The Leafy Things was huge, but I think they replaced the spinach with cabbage and it was a tad too bitter. The chunky grilled halloumi cheese was a hit for the kid. The Scallops were pan-fried well, I didn't like the tangerine wedges in the dish and the wasabi was a bit too subtle. Our favorite was the Rigatoni, good balance of short ribs, el dente pasta and the right portion to share. We were disappointed at the NY Strip. It was sliced out for us, which was convenient, but I tasted some soft bones on the outskirt and the kid complained it was burned; maybe the charcoal flavor was too strong. What I didn't like the most was the unevenness of the sauce. Some bites we had a strong spicy kick while some bites were mild. This made the sweet potato puree tasted excellent. The ice cream was ok, nothing to write home about, in comparison, I prefer vanilla more as the tahini and caramel were too grounded and lacking that distinct piercing hard to forget aroma. In between dishes they brought in refreshments to cleanse our palates. I like the cucumber water, but both were pretty good. We also ordered a glass of Syrah which was good, blended well with the food and a glass of Mount Vesuvius (Santa teresa 1796 rum / passionfruit / pineapple / coconut / strawberry). The Mount Vesuvius tasted very sweet, just like pina colada. All and all, we enjoyed the night and left with an overstuffed stomach. I would do a girls night here as well, which is what the ambiance calls for.

We were super pleased with the whole experience, from the moment we booked the date to the moment we left the restaurant after a successful birthday party. The planning process was absolutely seamless with Melissa the event coordinator who was always so responsive and answered all of our questions in great detail. The event/catering menu had so much variety to choose from and we greatly appreciated all the beverage options as well. On the day of the party, the service was absolutely top notch. The servers consistently cleared used tableware, replaced drinks and food as needed, and responded to all of our requests with such kindness! The food was delicious, especially the mac and cheese and miso salmon, which our guests raved about. We are so happy that we had our son's birthday party at Water Tower Kitchen. It was truly a memorable day and we have the Water Tower crew to thank for that. It was perfect!
