My friend recently moved here, so I came to pay her a visit. The complex is huge and dog friendly, which is great. There's a gym, pool, rec room, and other amenities. Her apartment is spacious with lofty ceilings, a modern kitchen, & a balcony. Apparently, two-story town homes are also available. There's a Whole Foods and a few eateries--Picala (Spanish) & Jinya Ramen Bar--as well as Sandbox VR & a veterinarian office. The downside is visitors have to pay to park. Update July 2026: There are gates in front of the whole foods elevators now, but it's kind of a nothing burger given the stairs are effectively unsecured. The area in general has become a lot safer via gentrification so safety is a lot less of a concern for me. The fire alarm situation has degraded over the past several months. Expect fire alarms multiple times per week. Some of it is unannounced testing (almost never announced ahead of time besides on the speakers) but a lot of the time it's "legit" (overly sensitive alarms throughout the complex). Main problems: 1. Fire alarms. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. This is NOT normal. If you have pets who aren't deaf, STAY FAR FAR AWAY for their sake. I'm so tired of seeing my cats in pain because of these damn alarms that are EXTREMELY loud. It's less bad than years ago but it's still totally outrageous to call this place luxury nor pet friendly. 9:30am on a saturday is a great time for my cats to make the most god-forsaken cries when this stupid complex has yet another alarm. 2. The rent is not accurate. You will be charged hundreds of dollars of various fees. Electricity is one thing but "porter fees" because people leave their furniture where they shouldn't etc. If someone breaks rules, which they do all the time, the entire complex pays for it. I believe I pay around $400/month on misc nonsense. I've gotten burned too many times now. The whole foods is nice, but it honestly doesn't outweigh the pain my pets go through just for living here. I will not be renewing my lease. Too many chances. It at least has 2 stars because it's habitable, just not at all acceptable for 4k/month for a 1bed. read more

If you want to pay over $3,000 a month for "premium" living where management actively ignores severe health and safety hazards, look no further. I am currently dealing with an 80-day habitability violation regarding a completely defective HVAC and exhaust system. The system was pulling severe reverse pressure, pumping outdoor pollution directly into my home and causing highly unhealthy indoor air quality. Also, the ventilation system had such imbalanced motors in the kitchen and bathroom, it was causing such severe vibrations that standing near the exhaust vents caused me physical nausea and vertigo. I asked maintenance to completely shut the ventilation system off on March 23rd just to stop the pollution and the vibrations, and asked if they could have someone come in to repair it to fix both issues. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since March 23rd, I have to repeatedly ask via email and multiple work orders for them to send a professional HVAC vendor to inspect, diagnose, and repair the system.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]For 70 days, I got the runaround and essentially gaslit over and over again, as well as have maintenance completely close my work orders without actually doing anything[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (besides coming to my home on days that I told him I were not available, and telling my boyfriend who was over visiting me--" that I simply changed my mind and want the ventilation system turned back on", when I started to really apply the pressure to hire an HVAC vendor to come and repair the system. Their first proposed "solution" last week was "that if they booked a vendor, I would have to pay for the service". I had to explicitly push back yet again, because that illegal: and that they are the ones working for the landlord, and that this is the land lands equipment, and it is their responsibility to make sure all equipment is functioning properly. Especially ones that are regarding breathing clean air and not causing physical symptoms like vertigo and nausea from a malfunctioning system... [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally after more pushback, Nile (the resident service manager) finally agreed to get an HVAC vendor out and told the maintenance supervisor (Ozzy) to go ahead and hire an HVAC vendor and schedule it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was May 20 ( 2 months after my initial request for them to get an HVAC vendor out to fix a serious malfunctioning issue inside my home ). [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is now May 29th. After following up multiple times, they gave me the excuse yesterday that they are "waiting for the vendor to get back to them for their availability." That is not how booking a service works.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Maintenance simply refuses to fix critical issues, and the leasing office will string you along for months. There are multiple other ongoing issues with this property, but this 80-day health and safety hazard is by far the most pressing. Vox doesn't validate parking. You have to go thru Whole Foods. Fire alarms are going off on a weekly basis. Can't tell if they're for dangerous situations anymore, you just try to ignore it. There is no hot water and management doesn't have a maintenance man on call for emergencies. What is the point of nearly paying 4 thousand dollars in rent and not have luxury customer service. Management doesn't understand the concept of a skeleton crew or on call staff. I served in the US Air Force and during holidays we would have someone on call or a skeleton crew available. Vox and Greystar display abhorrent behaviour when it comes to how they treat their tenants financially. Steve and the operations manager will go out of their way to try and extract money from you and use corporate pressure tactics to do so. It started in 2023 when we toured this apartment complex with the leasing advisor, Liz Escutia. The leasing advisors will frequently pull bait-and-switch tactics (confirmed by speaking with other tenants in the building) by showing you a sample apartment with dimensions that are grossly exaggerated. They will then claim that, "The unit you're looking for is currently occupied, but will be ready for you on your desired move-in date" - therefore, preventing a direct comparison the day of your tour; they will assure you that it is, "Exactly the same apartment." Come to find out, it isn't. After delaying and ignoring emails, they will then make a piddly offer to 'compensate you' for their 'mistake.' After which, they will then rescind their original offer and leave you with nothing, stating, "I am upset to inform you we cannot meet your request." Please take a look at the lovely screenshots I provided. The next apartment we looked at after the lease was up, we knew better. We insisted that we see the apartment first. This is where Steve comes in. He tried to levy a $300 'transfer fee' when I had very clearly concluded my lease and was starting a new one. After pushing back, he waived it. Next, they billed me for an entire month of rent on the last month in the original apartment (despite us having a pro-rate agreement in place) as we were moving into the new apartment and would only need three weeks. I was told they could not refund me the amount, and I would have to wait for the security deposit to be returned as my over-payment would be included there. They then tried to tabulate my over-payment into the grossly excessive fees that they tried to get away with charging us for, 'repainting, cleaning, and damaged cabinets.' Steve had me cancel the cleaners I arranged as he wanted the apartment keys back early, and said that I wouldn't be charged a cleaning fee. They are trying to charge us $275 for the cleaning of an empty apartment. They are trying to charge us $660 for damaged cabinets that we identified were damaged PRIOR to us moving in, with our move-in checklist. Lastly, $308.19 for repainting - which if you were unaware is ILLEGAL in California pursuant to CA Civ Code Section 1950.5. The landlord cannot charge you for repainting an apartment unless the tenant causes negligent damage that requires repainting. If the landlord chooses to repaint the apartment after your term, that cost is incurred by the landlord. By the way, they have to itemize all these charges and provide receipts to at least prove they paid what they claimed for these services - which they obviously did not do. Steve then tried to say that he was confident he could waive the cleaning fee, and then went back on it. Then he said he 'managed' to get the damage fees waived, but I still need to pay the cleaning fee and paint fee (not even once responding to my note about the California Civil Code I mentioned on two separate emails). See the screenshots below. I provided numbers in the photo captions to help with the order. The audacity to try and barter over ~$1,500 dollars when Greystar boasts a 10,000 unit portfolio (meaning they own thousands of these cash-cow complexes) is simply disgusting. I want to share my experience for anyone considering applying here. When I first toured Vox Apartments, I was impressed, the building is beautiful, with great amenities, and at first the leasing team seemed friendly. My leasing agent, Stephanie, showed me multiple apartments on Sunday 9/14 and told me she would email me a summary within 30 minutes, including concessions and a special deal with a three-day extension to decide whether I wanted to apply. That email never came. By the end of the day, I followed up with her directly and received no response. When I filled out the survey, I honestly reported my experience as "poor management." After that, another agent, Steven, reached out and told me he would send me the summary after speaking with Stephanie, again, nothing arrived. Finally, the Resident Service Manager, Nile, called me personally. called me personally. She admitted she had spoken with both Stephanie and Steven and confirmed that Stephanie would be sending me the apartment summary EOD. It is now days later, 11 p.m. on Wednesday, and I still have not received anything. This has been frustrating, disappointing, and frankly, unprofessional. It leaves me questioning whether they are truly interested in supporting potential tenants. It also feels discriminatory when my repeated requests are brushed off while others may not have to endure the same treatment. My advice: proceed with caution. The apartments may look beautiful, but the leasing process is the first impression of how management treats people. Based on my experience, the follow-through is poor, the communication is unreliable, and you may not feel like your best interests are taken seriously. read more

Edit 7/5/25: I'm convinced they are gouging/scamming me by charging almost $900 a month in electricity, lying multiple times about who is responsible for the sub-meters on the property and refusing to provide itemized bills showing opening and closing meter readings, rates, quantities, and total charges. I've communicated w/other tenants this has happened to, so it's not an isolated case. I repeat, you may get charged $900 a month in electricity like me with them refusing to even do reasonable investigation. You will have no choice but to pay it or they will send it to collections. Contact me for details. --- Tenants beware! I was charged over $870 for electricity for multiple months (August & September 2024), even after physically moving out (reserved an elevator and used movers) around September 10, 2024. My previous bills were under $100 (for the previous 12+ months). The community manager, Lamar Williams, wrote back after I spent 9 months disputing this saying that because I had higher ceilings, it must have triggered my AC to stay on and they wouldn't be adjusting this and I should contact LADWP. I never made payments to LADWP while I lived there because all billing is done through Vox. I don't know exactly what constitutes fraud or negligence, but billing 10x the usual rate with one of the months being one where I wasn't physically in the unit for 2/3 of the time raises suspicions. This has been an extremely frustrating experience. A quick search through the comments shows that this happened to multiple people around the same time frame. I would give zero stars to the management team if I could. I signed a 13-month lease with VOX Apartments, but in the 10th month, I received an email from management stating that my lease was ending soon and offering renewal options. Based on that information, I made plans to move out on the date they suggested. I wasn't counting so I trusted them. Two months after I moved out they informed me that the email was sent in error -- and that I was actually breaking the lease. Now they're trying to charge me nearly $9,000 for the remainder of the lease term. This was not a misunderstanding on my part -- I was misled in writing by the management team. When I asked for clarification or accountability, there was zero acknowledgment of their mistake or flexibility in resolving the issue. The experience has been incredibly stressful and feels like a bait-and-switch. The leasing office, is unprofessional, disorganized, and indifferent to residents' needs. Any time I made a request -- whether it was adding a parking space, scheduling inspections, coordinating a move-out, or reserving the elevators -- I was met with zero follow-through. Tasks were left incomplete, delayed, or flat-out ignored. It's not just incompetence -- it's delivered with an unapologetic and at times overtly rude attitude. The worst offender was the resident services manager Nile Jones. Getting them to actually respond or take action is an ordeal. Phone calls and emails are a black hole. The only way to get anything done is to physically walk into the office--and even then, there's no guarantee you'll get results. They also do not abide by the 21 day security deposit deadline (per California law) , so once you move out and are no longer able to come in person to ask for them to do their job properly, you will need to make many attempts to call and email people to ensure your deposit is received. The problems extend well beyond the office. The property itself is poorly maintained, with trash regularly littering the grounds and trash chutes frequently clogged. Despite being advertised as a "smoke-free" community, smokers are everywhere -- cigarette butts litter the walkways, and the smoke drifts into units. There is zero guest parking, and if you want to use amenities like the clubhouse with friends or family, be prepared to shell out extra fees. This place falsely markets itself as a "luxury" apartment complex, but the reality is far from it. Please save yourself from the worst apartment experience I've had, especially considering the premium price tag. read more

Recently went on a tour of this place and it is by far one of the most beautiful complexes I've seen in this area! The staff are all very friendly and helpful if you've got any questions. Justace helped me get to where I needed to go and the leasing team was super helpful too. They've even got a 24/7 concierge staff to manage all resident needs from packages to UberEats orders to maintenance, they will help you with it all! I had an extremely unpleasant experience with a leasing staff member named Stephanie yesterday. When I approached the front desk, she barely acknowledged me--no greeting, no eye contact, just a dismissive glance. I explained that I was there to pick up apartment keys my sister had left for me. I gave her the name and room number, and even read the exact message from my sister stating the keys were left under my name at the leasing office. Instead of listening or responding helpfully, Stephanie asked--twice and in a condescending tone--"What is this regarding?" despite me clearly explaining the situation both times. Her attitude was noticeably rude, impatient, and dismissed throughout the interaction. To clarify things, I called my sister and put her on speakerphone. My sister confirmed everything I had already said. Stephanie questioned who she left the keys with, and when my sister didn't know the exact name, Stephanie became visibly irritated and insisted she couldn't release the keys without written consent. When my sister pointed out that no one had mentioned this requirement earlier, Stephanie scoffed and said, "Well, I don't know what to tell you but I'm telling you now--we need written consent." After the call, Stephanie rolled her eyes and sarcastically asked if my sister was going to send the written consent. When I said yes, she dismissed us with a wave of her hand and handed us off to another staff member--clearly trying to avoid further interaction. While I understand that there may be policies in place, there is absolutely no excuse for Stephanie's unprofessional, dismissive, and frankly rude behavior. AVOID! Do not be tempted by the mediocre amenities. The property is disgusting (see photos) - there is pet waste all through the interior of the property, the carpet lining the halls are stained with dog urine, the smell of urine & feces seeps into your home, the building is infested with spiders, the fire alarms go off in the middle of the night at least once or twice a week, management is incompetent and non-responsive. I've lived here for 6 months now and things are only getting worse. Friends are dealing with stolen packages (believed to be an inside job), parking went from being free to $20 a night with no alternative for guests and no announcement. Not to mention the blatant homophobia (despite not even being gay!!) from one of the leasing agents who texted me thinking he was texting his colleague (screenshot attached). While the building appears beautiful, and the amenities are great, Greystar runs this property incredibly poorly. In my time at Vox, my heat, AC, and dryer have all broken and taken longer than one month to repair. The AC broke in the middle of summer, and it took Vox over two weeks to provide portable units, and a month to fix the buildings AC, and it required months of calling Greystar corporate to get any kind of rent break as an apology. My Ethernet port in my apartment is broken, and Vox refused to fix it. Smaller repairs frequently take longer than a week. In my first week, my apartment had an ant infestation that rendered my unit uninhabitable due to loose baseboards. The building refused to pay for a hotel room and decided to not bring in any exterminators until their regular site visit two days later. Additionally, since a new on site team took over, the building has increasingly pinched pennies. You can't have more than two guests in a common area, or the building will charge you the rate for exclusively renting out the common area, which can be easily over 1000 dollars, despite the common areas being massive spaces. Say goodbye to family birthday parties! They are now taking away parking spaces that are in residents leases if the resident doesn't have a vehicle. While I get the need to make more parking, taking away something promised in the lease with no compensation is shocking. Additionally, there have been serious safety issues at the property. A resident in crisis patrolled and the building and threatened others with a knife and hammer for over a week before the building put out any notification of a safety issue. The only reason my partner and I knew was because of a building discord, which the complex monitors. The building finally put out a warning and a stay in place notification when the resident threatened a staff member and chased him with a knife. Multiple vehicles have reportedly been stolen from the garage, which does not have any cameras, and frequently has a broken gate, making it significantly easier for thefts to occur. The bike room has also routinely seen break ins during my time here. Fire alarms, due construction in the retail space, poor design, and frankly size of the building, are a routine aspect of life at Vox. While this has improved since the buildings opening when it was a near daily experience, it is still a problem. Your door lock can simply run out of battery, without an alternate means of entering the unit. If that happens outside of business hours, the building a) does not call the emergency on call maintenance tech and b) instead brings in a vendor from the valley, which I was quoted as would take approximately two hours at 10:30 on a week night. The only reason this review is not a one star is the amenities and location. The gym and dog park are phenomenal. read more
