Lived here for 2 and a half years and I highly recommend this place! If you are new to Marina Del Rey and want community this place is fantastic. It is a social building and the G8 staff is very good at putting events together! Chad puts the events together and is always open to suggestions. Holly is a great manager and very communicative. Me and a roommate rented a 2 bedroom. Two salt water hot tubs, a salt water pool, and a gym that is always clean and rarely busy. I miss living there and riding my bike to the boardwalk. I do most of my business in West Hollywood otherwise I might have stayed in the area. Highly recommend this spot for anyone that wants to be close to the beach and wants community! I've been living here for almost 3 years, and it's been an amazing experience. From my first site visit, Amir was so friendly, accommodating and helped me to choose what was best for me in the long run as someone new to the city. The team, Holly, Chad, Teth, Juan and Grisi have always taken time for me whether in passing or in solving problems with absolute professionalism. I have felt so at home, any maintenance issues are handled promptly and professionally by Teth & Juan, living in a core-living, Holly and Chad have been intentional in ensuring they put like minded individuals in our 7 bed apartment, which is not an easy task in itself. They provide a cleaner once a week, Grisi, who is just so loving, even though I don't speak Spanish, we're always able to chat about life. The complex has amazing amenities, a theatre, swimMing pools, jacuzzi, gyms, community spaces, dog run and great security, using a fob to access all areas. . My coliving unit operates as a family, movie nights, pet sitting for each other, if anyone is sick, someone will bring soup, take them to Dr, etc..so truly feeling like a family. I will be leaving, moving back to London, so to say if you're looking for something in LA, Marina Del Rey is beautiful and living in G8 has been an absolute blessing...so hard to find a great location, great management team and great roommates in LA! I'd like to add a tip for those who have had the misfortune to rent at this property- they will charge you a $250 cleaning fee when you move out. I made the mistake of hiring a cleaner to make sure I got my deposit back and even after sending in the receipt for the cleaning and final photos, was still charged the cleaning fee. This is absolutely illegal. You only need "broom swept clean." they said it wasn't "up to their standards". DON'T let them steal your money. "In California, a landlord can deduct from the security deposit for cleaning, but only to restore the unit to the same condition as when the tenant moved in, excluding normal wear and tear. If the unit is returned in a "broom-swept" condition, meaning it's been swept and vacuumed, and no excessive damage or dirt exists, the landlord cannot charge for cleaning." I recently called G8 as a walk in to check which inventory was available. Holly was friendly and scheduled me for later in the afternoon to meet with Chad. Upon arrival Chad greeted me at the entrance, super friendly! We walked through the building and Chad was really helpful in sharing insight to the overall process and building. I called the next day to come back once more before making a final decision, Chad informed me of the application process and helped me ensure I was prepped to apply. I don't leave reviews, but I am compelled to leave this one due to the egregious management practices I encountered at G8. On the surface G8 looks like a modern trendy apartment , that comes with all the bells and whistles but you will soon find, its all superficial and impractical. The management has set a very unpleasant culture, to the point that I actually have sympathy for the suffering staff, who tend to change on a frequent basis. Whenever a company has a high attrition rate , it can only mean the environment is either toxic or the management is incompetent. I know this failure in judgement must run all the way up to the top of G8, because anyone in their right mind can see Manager Holly is not a peoples person and has absolutely no business managing an apartment with hundreds of people. She seriously lacks peoples skills, empathy , professionalism, lack of discernment and EQ. she is very disingenuous and unable to have clear concise communication, and is always condescending ( which I find is a form of defense for her ineptness) I am not sure if her permanent unpleasant demeanor is due to being overwhelmed in the job or just her natural charm. There are so many issues with the building that are further magnified by the managements lack of skills to deal with them, there are multiple car break-ins, random strangers walking into the mailroom to steal packages,(which happens often) homeless people stalking the halls at night etc.. yet there is a total lack of accountability, responsibility or ownership on the part of the management. Clearly the property lacks adequate security, the one security guy they do have only arrives at night and has to patrol multiple buildings on different streets with each property holding over 200 units. The one bed units are very small, think of a studio with a room divider. There is absolutely no storage in the unit, which encourages a lot people to rent a storage unit from G8, another expense, but if you think your items are safe , think again, if your lucky and your unit is not broken into , you may be as unfortunate as I was when the garage flooded last year and all my belongings, items got damaged and infested with mold. Don't expect management to give a crap about your belongings, in fact they will lie to the insurance adjuster and tell them they have no knowledge of the flooding or damages to any property, (shocking!) especially when they advised me to file through my renters insurance, (as they require all tenants to get renters insurance) I had to go through weeks of trying to reach the adjuster and eventually got the insurance case reopened, only for Holly to lie about the flooding and claim it was caused by a planter above the units. Renting in LA is already crazy and I will not recommend paying over the top for subpar management. Most of the issues in the building exist because of improper, proactive management resolutions. Co-living at this dump is the biggest waste of time and money. Just light your cash on fire- it'll be more satisfying. $2200/month for rent which will get raised 18 percent every time you renew and that's with 4-6 roommates!!!! $200/month for parking. $50/month activity fee which you have to pay whether you use the activities or not. So minimum $2450/month for at least 3 roommates. They claim they have "house rules" to maintain a respectful environment, but nothing is ever enforced and blatant violations don't matter. They just want your money. The stairwells smell like urine and the dog run is infested with parasites and hookworms. You can get a one bedroom apartment for much cheaper and have zero roommates. Staff is extremely rude, abusive, and self serving. They treat you like an inmate (which you basically are). Car break ins on a regular basis, package theft is rampant. The water, water heaters, and electricity go out of commission on a regular basis. And they make up excuses to invade your privacy and enter your apartment about once a month with "changing the air filters", "painting the living room" and endless all day fire alarm testing. I've never seen landlords so blatantly aggressive with invading your space- it's beyond typical and necessary and borderline illegal. Living here was the biggest mistake of my life. Save yourself some trouble and look elsewhere. read more

She deserves a shoutout because she is personable, responsive, and made my apartment hunt 10000x easier. She is definitely knowledgable about the market and will help you find the best deal. We all know finding an apartment that matches your needs and wants can be stressful. After tirelessly searching for a luxurious apartment in Marina, I landed on G8 the same day I first visited. Ashley carefully listened to my wants and needs, and found me the 1 bedroom apartment of my dreams (no joke). From applying for the apartment to answering any lease questions I had, she made the overall process seamless and easy. She responded to me in no time. I also want to shoutout Holly who has been extremely responsive and helpful as well. The team here really cares for their tenants. Not to mention, the luxurious building is full of impressive amenities - movie theater, massage room, fitness room, pool, rooftop deck, etc... I could go on and on! I've lived here since August 2020 and I am consistently amazed at how far the management is willing to go to abuse their residents and make living here an absolute waste of money. On top of that, the neighborhood around the housing is filthy and disgusting, not to mention loud (a restaurant opened nearby and you can hear their music blasting at night even with the doors and windows closed!) They continue introducing new restrictions that were not in place when we moved in and they do nothing to make up for it. Coliving experience at G8 (also my first leasing experience) moving from Missouri to LA The Good: - Centrally located with lots of convenient food places/stores walking distance - Quality rooms with high ceilings, concrete floor, and tall windows. - Coliving area is cleaned weekly and the kitchen/laundry appliances are modern and relatively new - Luxury living is a fair assessment as the amenities in the place are top notch -- which include the best apt gym I've used (my favorite), yoga studio, rooftop hot tub, pool, and more. The Bad: 1) Street Parking & Resident Towing: Street parking is scarce with 2 hour limits during the day & overnight parking restricted on the back/sides of building. Parking waitlist goes as far back as October 2020 and additional cost for parking ranges from $150-250$/month. G8 tows frequently and will tow your car without warning even if they know you are a residence of the apartment complex. My car (which I listed and was in the system) was towed within 2 hours of me checking on it @2PM during a work break to the end of the day at ~4:00PM. The fee to get your car back is ~$400 not including travel costs to the Towing Company. Management shows zero remorse as they most likely pocket a % of the towing fee, be wary. 2) Hidden Fees which include mandatory fees: Upon move-out "mandatory" cleaning fee ($85+) & potential paint touch up (~$50+). Additionally, these fees will be taken out of security deposit instead of being an additional fee in the resident portal. I assume this is a legal loophole which allows them to charge the tenant the additional fee without needing to explicitly state it on lease agreement. 3) Slow maintenance response time that often gets overlooked unless you are on top of them with frequent requests/emails: My hot water wasn't working for the first couple of weeks and despite promises of it getting fixed the 1st weekend that I moved in it was instead sidelined for two weeks leading to cold showers for ~15% of my time at G8 4) Leasing Stipulations: Despite my written intent that my plan was to move out 7/31/21 (which is why I required a 3 month instead of the typical 6 month/1 year lease) because I did not additionally notify them that I was moving out 30 days prior to my lease ending (7/31) they will be charging me through until (08/15) and it will cost me an additional $925 despite already having moved out. This being my first leasing experience and unfamiliarity with California Leasing Law cost me about a grand. No notice/reminder was put in place regarding this policy and only came about when I asked for a walk through. 5) Smaller Issues: The blinds don't block sunlight at all and because the windows are extremely tall you cannot replace them with traditional black-out curtains. If you have trouble sleeping with the lights on you will have trouble sleeping in here unless you get the curtains replaced which can cost ~$1000+ due to the custom window height. The Wi-Fi, while it is decent, has extreme latency/lag and dropped connection issues. For teleworking it would go out quite often and ethernet is not a readily available option. One of my suitemates tried working with G8 Management to get ethernet connection and it was a process that took him 3 weeks to get it "turned on" and when it was turned off by the G8 provider an additional 2 weeks to get it "turned back on". The Laundry Washer works fine but the dryer placement in our unit made it so when both dryers were on, the clothes wouldn't dry properly leading to a 6 hour drying timeline that confused me until one of the older residents told me that you can only do one machine at a time for it to work. Fire Alarm testing and other maintenance test are done at their own discretion one of which lasted from ~9AM-4PM and basically ruined all the meetings I had that day during work. The fire alarm is very sensitive sometime going off when someone was cooking eggs. G8 is a pet friendly building and because of this the stairways throughout have a noticeable pee stench that I was not expecting. Additionally, there are flocks of flies intermittent throughout the hallways that can be a bother. TL;DR Luxury apartment building with quality amenities that is contrasted by bad parking situation, non-transparent management, and hidden fees. To conclude I spent an unexpected additional sum of ~$1500 during my ~3 month stay here. If you can get parking (extremely important), have decent understanding of leasing laws, and are willing to look past the smaller faults, G8 is a pretty nice place to live, especially if you utilize the amenities that they provide and are able to identify the hidden fees and stipulations off of there 28 page leasing document. However if you can't get a parking spot, are newer to leasing, and identify some of the issues as relevant to you, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Worst living experience I've ever encountered!!! Can't wait to move!!! What a facade! Wish I could give 0 stars. Apartment building is newly constructed, I'm the first person to live in this unit and it's falling apart day by day. Quality of materials used to build this establishment are extremely subpar. I live by myself and am always away at work, I can't imagine if someone lived here with more than one resident, the unit will literally fall to pieces. I've lived in apartment buildings all around Marina Del Rey and the west side for the past 10 years, and this is definitely an establishment to stay away from. Doors creak, showers leak water, microwave broke after a few months, faucet handle broke after a few months, I could go on and on. The unit is so dusty I've decided to stop opening my window, but that doesn't even keep the dust out, it must be coming out of the AC vents Bc I have to sweep my floor DAILY and I find mounds and mounds of dust on the end of my swiffer sweeper. How sad, living in the Marina close to the ocean and i can't even open my windows. The amount of dust is unreal and causes me to itch and sneeze when I'm here. I saw another resident mention the dryers cause this dust and maintenance claims it's normal. They claim everything is normal to get out of fixing anything. I complained to them about the water that drips on my cars from their pipes in the parking garage, because it's leaving water marks and causing permanent damage and rot to my cars, they told me it's normal condensation and there is nothing they can do to fix it. Maintenance is incompetent, I asked to have my microwave looked at, they came in to my unit without my permission while I was gone, and then write me an email telling me my oven range has no issues and there was pots blocking the outlet... I never asked you to come look at my oven range, asked you to fix my microwave! Building is dirty and the hallways smell like urine. Carpets in the hallways are dusty and dirty, not to mention animal hair everywhere. Their staff doesn't clean, or they don't have ample staff to clean the entire building. The building caters to dogs more so than it's residents. Hallways are filled with flies and gnats from all the garbage piled up in the hallways and garbage rooms, and from all the dog urine and feces you find throughout the hallways, stairwells and elevators. Elevators are also another issue, tend to be out of service for weeks at a time. Can't even use elevator at times Bc the entire floor is covered in dog urine. Found dog feces numerous times in the hallways, stairwell and elevators, and the building does not clean daily or even weekly, maybe once a month? The staff is incompetent and rude. Guest parking is a joke, they offer 6 spaces and say your guest can't return to visit you within 24 hours. Had my parents car illegally and wrongfully towed from guest parking Bc they visited me Saturday and Sunday and the building staff took it upon himself to wrongfully tag their car as being there longer than 24 hours. Sunday morning (less than 24 hours later), my parents car was wrongfully towed. Not only did it delay my parents return to San Diego, it was a major financial burden. Building staff did not want to help me in any way and blamed all fault on me and that they had photograph proof but would not share it with me. Don't want to share it Bc you know our car wasn't parked there 24 hours!!!! So now I'm out $450 Bc of the building staffs incompetent mistake. Staff will harass you rather than try to help you. One of the facilities workers lives on premise, and maintenance requests aren't fulfilled for at least 36 hours. What's the delay and what's the point of having him live on premise if it's going to be such a delay? The other facilities employee looks like a shady druggy and he sits in the parking garage chain smoking cigarettes all day, guess that's why the service requests must be so delayed...? Office staff takes liberty on themselves to harass residents and do what they please, had one of them text message me on my mobile phone at 6 AM, are you kidding me? read more

I moved into a co-living unit in May 2021 and have had a very positive experience being here. My co-living housemates are all considerate and open to communication and that has made a huge impact on the experience. The co-living manager, Allison, has been very responsive and is willing to assist with any of our needs. Being stocked with TP, paper towels, dish soap and laundry detergent every week is such a bonus! Like any large building there are always going to be areas of concern but any issue I have reported to management has been resolved in short notice. The halls are always clean and the gym is spotless all the time. read more

Apartment living can be luxurious and G8 is fully living up to its expectations. We came in unannounced and were able to get a tour on the spot (before social distancing was in effect...). Dontrell explained the community, showed us multiple units until we found the perfect one, and helped us get our application finished that day. It was a seamless, easy, stress-free process and we're so happy to have found G8. Even after moving in Dontrell continues to go above and beyond to make sure questions get answered and we're kept informed. I can say without hesitation that everyone working at G8 is not only friendly, but helpful. The maintenance team and particularly Teth have been fantastic, responding quickly to any request or issue. Having lived at G8 for a month now we're loving the area and the close proximity to so many restaurants, shops, and dog parks. On property we're equally loving the pool and outdoor lounges and can't wait to take advantage of all the other amenities once social distancing restrictions are lifted. read more

My experience working with Holly has been seamless. I was able to come check out the unit and within one business day I was approved and the lease was signed: ) About the place? This building is super cool and amenities are literally AMAZING making it worth it just for that. My actual unit is very spacious with all of the bells and whistles including a good size balcony. ONLY downside is lack of storage space, but I will happily improvise to make it work as the overall value is really, really good especially to other comparable one bedrooms in the area. I'm updating this review to 1 star, stay away from this building. I was informed Tuesday that one of the roommate reported bed bug, and they need to apply a heat treatment, but when I ask have they did any inspection to make sure which room actually had the bed bug there is no reply....and there is no communication on how bad the situation is......... during the pandemic especially with this increasing number of the cases, we have to stay away for a whole day, there is no communication as when the treatment actually stopped, it was still not completely finished the day after, and my home is such a mess when i came back, there was actual trash left in my room................ then the roommate told me he reported the bed bug issue 2 weeks ago, then why didn't the leasing office inform us 2 weeks ago? at least we can avoid using the living room area... seriously does the leasing office want bed bugs coming to each room....... the rent is not cheap, my rate increased by $250 dollars............which is more than 10% raise in rent. on top of that, the building is really really dirty, no one cleaned the dog run for a few weeks, dog poops are everywhere read more

Great apartments, really beautiful. However, service during the pandemic incredibly bad. Garbage piles up in the garbage rooms on my floor. Elevator down to garage frequently broken for hours on end. Doorbell has been broken for months and sticks, going off incessantly. Request put in to fix 2-3 months ago; they came by and did a partial fix only. Window/door to balcony does not open and has to be forced open from the outside. Request put in to fix 2-3 months ago. Currently 36 hours into a mysterious smoke alarm going off in my apartment every 90 seconds. Put in as an emergency on the portal, no response for 36 hours. Then called twice, emailed, finally got a call back - nice and rude from that guy. Finally fixed nearly two days later. They have not invested in support and service for the building. At these type of prices and with the label "luxury living", one expects more. read more

Management has a horrible response time on maintenance requests. One they refuse to clean - the dryer vents empty out right onto the patios and which effectively tosses the lint right into your unit. Their solve?...vacuum the patio ... "luxury living" -what a joke.. Also the materials used are below par. Our entry door has broken 3 times and we have only been here 4 months. The trash room is always overfilled. They do construction at any time they want (i.e 7am drilling so loud it shakes your walls) They also try to raise your rent at a rate of 10-20% every time you go to release. Wild. Moving out as soon as I can. Worst apartment management I've ever experienced. I've lived in a new building every year for the last 8 years due to work and this will be the first one I leave early. read more

I moved to the G8 during the Pandemic. The move there was exactly what I needed during such a hard year. I ended up having a transformative year. Being near the Marina and meeting new lifelong friends was exactly what I needed. The amenities and warm staff made it possible to meet so many great people during a time when meeting people and sharing experiences were so challenging. If it wasn't for the G8, I might have been stuck in a year-long funk. The spaces are modern and the views are inspirational. Neighbors tend to be younger, ambitious, and social. Taking a scooter around town you'll be able to get to great restaurant spots and bars around town. I highly recommend moving to the G8! read more

My wife and I just moved in last week and we absolutely love the apartment! Especially, the fast charger for my Tesla. The staff have all been super helpful and pleasant to work with.
