Gladys is everything you'd hope for in an apartment manager -- responsive, kind, and consistently dependable. She's always on top of communication, updates, and any changes happening around the building. Whenever we had a question or needed assistance, she handled it quickly and professionally. Marcel is equally exceptional. He's proactive, efficient, and truly cares about the residents. Any maintenance request was handled right away, and even when I accidentally locked myself out (a couple of times), he and Gladys were quick to respond -- even on weekends. Their dedication and reliability made living here incredibly smooth. You can tell they both take pride in their work and genuinely care about creating a comfortable, well-maintained community. I'm genuinely grateful for their support and professionalism throughout our stay -- they're the reason this property runs so well. Highly recommend this complex to anyone looking for a place managed by people who truly care.

Overall, I…read morewas a happy resident and I feel like the place has improved a lot with the new management (maybe bc they now have to compete with so many dtla luxury apts lol). The building itself is old so they've renovated a lot of the units which it's both good and bad for residents/future tenants since that means higher living quality but the rent keeps going up (biggest downside!) But the rent hike is no news for dtla or even California housing so I guess we can't really blame them.. I waited until everything was done to write my review- the amount of security deposit we got back was disappointing but mostly reasonable and clear, in case anyone wonders about this. Overall, If you work/ go to school in dtla, worth considering! The specifics: Security/Safety- A+ Yes I have seen homeless people walking around and nearby the building. However, that's just what you get living in downtown. Personally I've never felt unsafe living here and I appreciate how the building is always bright and most of time, there's always a front desk security there. I have also seen the security coming outside to help residents out. I worked night shifts most of the time I lived there and would frequently come home at 3-4AM so safety was big for me. Location- A+ The apt is at a convenient location with Staples around the corner, lots restaurants/bars nearby, and easy rideshares and food delivery services access. Wholefoods is within walkable distance and 24/7 Ralphs is across the street. Starbucks and Panini Kabob Grill (recommend!) are both downstairs of the building. Fitness- A+ There is a small gym inside the apt. Within walking distance, there are also lots fitness places to go to, including Corepower yoga (a block away), Pure barre (about 4 blocks away), Gold gym and LA fitness (about 3 blocks away). A little further out, there are other yoga studios, 24 hour fitness, Crossfit, etc. Parking- A Parking is an additional $100 (more if you chose premium parking spot) per car. It's pricey but standard price for dtla so I have no complaint. I do want to bring up that when I first moved in, I had seen people parking at our resident only garage and then leaving (and yes I verified that they didnt live there). It did make me feel unsafe knowing that the parking lot was being shared by non-residents in the beginning but I haven't seen that happened for 1+ year. If this is a concern of yours, you should ask. Other than this and the one time someone parked at my spot when they went party'ing, parking had been smooth here. Guest parking- used to be a BIG F but now an A Like what one other reviewer said, there used to be only 10 guest parking spots for the whole entire building!! Yes, ten for like how many residents?! It used to drive me crazy and no one would want to come visit lol. Other residents were getting frustrated and angry too. However, in mid 2019, they added about 20 more spots for after hours (nights and weekends) and things got a lot better. The guest spots do fill up but not as crazy as before and it's been so much easier to have guests over. Front desk/ office staff/ maintenance/ packages- Friendly front desk staff! There used to be a time when they didn't have consistent staff at the front which was frustrating but it got better. The leasing office staff was really nice too and so was the maintenance crew. They were always very helpful and prompt. Packages got delivered to the front desk or the Amazon HUB that they installed some time in 2018/ early 2019. Parking garage elevators- It's really slow and I cannot tell you how many times the parking garage elevators broke down the two years I lived there (to a point that I've gotten so good at going straight to the stairs as soon as I saw a sign by the elevator lol). Not a deal breaker for me though! Laundry- new smart laundry machines installed in Mid 2019. Kind of pricey but I'm grateful to not having to collect quarters lol. Amenities- Pool, spa, grill, pool table, and poker table. It's great that there are pool and spa on site and I loved going to the pool and spa in the summer but I feel like they should def be cleaned more often. I've never used the grill by the pool area so I can't really comment on that, but yes I have seen roaches in the yard. Good thing is i've never seen them inside the building so that's def comforting lol. Common areas are first come first serve. There are often holiday events and food trucks coming to the building once a month, which are nice. Friendly neighbors :)

The building has a club on the ground floor "the LASH" I live on the 5th floor on the other side of the building, I can hear the music and bass perfectly. It wasn't such a problem pre covid but they recently updated their sound system and Thursday-Sunday nights it's hard to sleep. Currently there is a restaurant being renovated that will also be a club at night so if you value sleep you won't be getting much here. I know it's DTLA and you have to deal with noise but if it's not music from the club then you'll have to deal with all the noise from outside during the day since the windows are very thin. If you decide to take a tour don't go into the basement where the laundry machines are, there is an awful smell that hasn't been taken care of for over a year, I attached pictures to show the cause of the problem (meat juice that's overflown the containers from the restaurant space above). I'm sure it will be brushed off as a one time thing and being taken care of-that's a lie. But if you decide to move in pick a unit on the 2nd or 3rd floor because the elevator likes to break down a lot and will have to take the stairs. There is so much trash that piles up on Winston st, one time a homeless man started a fire. If you like that kind of excitement this is the right building for you. The price you pay in rent you could find a cleaner better building with amenities for the same price or a few hundred bucks more. Bottom line, management doesn't care about your concerns or complaints and nothing gets done on time. Previous bad reviews have been taken down so hopefully this isn't flagged or at least encourages management to fix some of the problems

He is very hands-on, efficient, and consistently professional in everything he does. Communication has always been clear and effective, and he's quick to respond and follow through. The amenities in the building are also great and well maintained, which adds to the overall quality of living here. What really stands out, though, is Tom's approach to management - he takes the time to make sure new tenants are a good fit and that they'll mesh well with the current community. That extra attention to detail really makes a difference in the overall environment. I would definitely recommend this place, largely because of the positive experience with Tom and how well he manages everything.

I thought it was important I share it here…read moreas well because these are the reviews along with their YouTube videos that made me what to sign a lease with them. I thought most of them being posted on the same day was kind of strange, and I now realize I should have paid more attention to that. I was genuinely excited to move into Echo Lofts because I thought I'd found a gem. However, on September 1st, I walked into a complete mess. Before you sign a lease with this property, be sure to read all of their reviews--not just the five-star ones. Before I moved in, I assumed that the property manager would walk through the space with the previous tenant to ensure the space wasn't left in the condition you see in the photos. When I walked in and saw the holes, black fingerprints/footprint (yes, footprint), a black speckled air vent, water damage, and the grimy nature of the apartment, I was shocked and disappointed. If you're wondering if I saw the place beforehand I did. However, when everything is moved and the person doesn't bother to clean up behind themselves you can see how bad a space really is. These issues made it very clear that the person moving out didn't care for the space and that Sky Properties doesn't do their part to maintain their properties. Again this is disappointing, especially since they have these videos and perfect photos posted on YT and their listing pages. They allow their tenants to leave their properties any kind of way. What has been the most disappointing, is the lack of accountability for the former tenants. In addition, management will do nothing to make it right, even if it's as simple as painting the walls so that someone feels comfortable paying a deposit on my new space. No one wants to get stuck paying for someone else's mess. One thing to note about deposits in LA in general which is new to me as I've never had this issue, possibly because of dealing with more flexible landlords. The deposits that are left on the apartment when a tenant moves out will only be given back if all occupants vacate the space. This is their policy. So don't count on getting your deposit back if you and your roommate aren't moving out at the same time. The sucky part is they will not use that to fix anything that a previous tenant left behind. I focused on the pretty photos, videos, and "5-star" reviews. I have learned a valuable lesson that those aren't the best gauge when it comes to how a company cares for its tenants and its property. Since my writing of my review, I did receive a phone call asking what could be done to get me to take my negative review down. They offered to let me out of my lease. However, my stuff has already been moved in by movers, and we all know finding a new place takes time. Not to mention, that option would leave my roommate paying all of the rent. I couldn't do that to them, even given my ongoing disappointment and frustration. The only bright spot in this whole thing has been their head of maintenance. He came by at 7:00 on Friday evening (drove all the way from Reseda in traffic) to look at the air vents and the water damage. He changed all of the air vents, cleaned them off, and he will be back on Monday/Tuesday to paint the water leak spot, which he looked into and said needed no repairs. As a property, I get there are things you don't "have" to do. However, when your old tenant leaves a place in a filthy mess, in good faith, I would hope other property managers would try to meet in the middle. The lease out may have been the middle for them, but that would have left me without a place to live and having to spend more time and money to move out when a paint job and a little maintenance would have done the trick. I have spent all week trying to clean my "new" place that I was SO excited about, which just keeps making me so sad. I have never had a move in experience as challenging and frankly, disgusting as this one, even as a subletter. The rooms I moved into were always in good condition--no footprints on the walls, no filth anywhere. And the landlords always made sure space was in its best condition instead of waiting until they have to fix a problem. I'm grateful for their head of maintenance. He truly made my day yesterday, and you can tell he cares about his work and tenants.

I absolutely loved my studio though - the high ceilings, exposed pipes, and clean, updated everything. I always appreciated the helpfulness of Jonathan and Alex, who were the main contacts during my residency. My favorite though, was Richard, the maintenance lead. He was consistently quick to respond to maintenance requests, always friendly, always kind. He even helped me hang a few pieces of artwork because I couldn't do it on my own! I deeply appreciated him and the crew, who showed pride in the upkeep and cleanliness of the building - lobby, gym, elevators, garbages, entryway. Thought it's not worth removing a star, it's worth noting that the front desk staff has seen a lot of turnover over the years. And honestly, their service and temperament have been... uneven. Not as consistently stellar as when I first moved in, with Jonathan and Alex as first points of contact - they've since been promoted (!). But, I moved out in July, 2024 so hopefully that's worked itself out and the front desk staff at Maxfield are back to offering excellent service all around. Anyhoo, I'm writing this review so many months after moving because this year, I missed seeing the NYE fireworks out of the beautiful windows of my Maxfield unit (the #5s)! lol And I want to affirm my primarily warm experience there and encourage new tenants to consider Maxfield as your home, as long as you're gonna care for it as well as Richard and his team do :) (And, as long as you're comfortable navigating the surrounding unhoused community. I never felt unsafe, but not everyone has the same sense of safety.)

Having lived in both New York City for 10 years and Los Angeles for the past five, I can honestly say I have never experienced a management team that provides such exceptional service. As a young, single woman living in a major city, the sense of safety, responsiveness, and care has meant more to me than I can express. The building is beautifully maintained and offers every amenity you could want, including a brand-new gym and EV chargers. Its location is also incredibly convenient and fun! The Madison has truly been my home away from home, and I am immensely grateful for my time here. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Plus, the view of the Hollywood Hills and the Hollywood sign is unbeatable.

In part this is because of the staff here. Tamara, our building manager, has been so hands on at creating a home for people here - there's no doubt that she really cares. Her team- from Jorge and Joel and all of the other maintenance and security people - are truly appreciated here. They work so hard and are communicative and prompt to deal with any issues.That being said, I have had minimal issues over the years. I can't emphasise how much it means to always see a friendly face when coming in and out of the building. Thank you to all of them for making this feel like a home.

We…read morehad informed several times during the week of our move in of specific problems like fire alarm issues and other maintenance issues and we where basically wrote off and made out to be liars like what we where experiencing wasn't happening. In our time living there we got to know other tenants very well and the consensus of opinion about management was the same across the board. Absolutely awful. Any noise complaints like dance parties/ classes directly above your unit is handled with a response close to " they are upstairs neighbors and noise will be heard, but we will talk to them and that is about all [they] can do". The results from that are absolutely nothing until they move which was our case. When trash shoots are clogged I was met with this response on several occasions " take a stick and poke it down". Packages are left by the front desk on the floor in a huge pile which are susceptible to being stolen. On many occasions important documents and packages were not received in any timely matter because of that fact. The front desk security there is an absolute joke! The front door which is supposed to have a buzzer does not work and there are many altercations with homeless people and people who are not supposed to be on the premises entering the building. On top of that the security at the front desk does absolutely nothing besides sit on their butt and watch sports on their phone or play video games on their phone. I find half the time they are outside the building having conversations with random people instead of actually doing their job. They also have a Checkin list that guests are supposed to sign into that in my entire stay there has never been filled out. In a case of emergency you won't have any information to go off of to refer to the police because of that. If I could give this apartment building a zero I would but because that is not a possibility I give it a one star.
