I recently moved out from The Met after having lived here for 2 years and 2 managements. Overall, I was a happy resident and I feel like the place has improved a lot with the new management (maybe bc they now have to compete with so many dtla luxury apts lol). The building itself is old so they've renovated a lot of the units which it's both good and bad for residents/future tenants since that means higher living quality but the rent keeps going up (biggest downside!) But the rent hike is no news for dtla or even California housing so I guess we can't really blame them.. I waited until everything was done to write my review- the amount of security deposit we got back was disappointing but mostly reasonable and clear, in case anyone wonders about this. Overall, If you work/ go to school in dtla, worth considering! The specifics: Security/Safety- A+ Yes I have seen homeless people walking around and nearby the building. However, that's just what you get living in downtown. Personally I've never felt unsafe living here and I appreciate how the building is always bright and most of time, there's always a front desk security there. I have also seen the security coming outside to help residents out. I worked night shifts most of the time I lived there and would frequently come home at 3-4AM so safety was big for me. Location- A+ The apt is at a convenient location with Staples around the corner, lots restaurants/bars nearby, and easy rideshares and food delivery services access. Wholefoods is within walkable distance and 24/7 Ralphs is across the street. Starbucks and Panini Kabob Grill (recommend!) are both downstairs of the building. Fitness- A+ There is a small gym inside the apt. Within walking distance, there are also lots fitness places to go to, including Corepower yoga (a block away), Pure barre (about 4 blocks away), Gold gym and LA fitness (about 3 blocks away). A little further out, there are other yoga studios, 24 hour fitness, Crossfit, etc. Parking- A Parking is an additional $100 (more if you chose premium parking spot) per car. It's pricey but standard price for dtla so I have no complaint. I do want to bring up that when I first moved in, I had seen people parking at our resident only garage and then leaving (and yes I verified that they didnt live there). It did make me feel unsafe knowing that the parking lot was being shared by non-residents in the beginning but I haven't seen that happened for 1+ year. If this is a concern of yours, you should ask. Other than this and the one time someone parked at my spot when they went party'ing, parking had been smooth here. Guest parking- used to be a BIG F but now an A Like what one other reviewer said, there used to be only 10 guest parking spots for the whole entire building!! Yes, ten for like how many residents?! It used to drive me crazy and no one would want to come visit lol. Other residents were getting frustrated and angry too. However, in mid 2019, they added about 20 more spots for after hours (nights and weekends) and things got a lot better. The guest spots do fill up but not as crazy as before and it's been so much easier to have guests over. Front desk/ office staff/ maintenance/ packages- Friendly front desk staff! There used to be a time when they didn't have consistent staff at the front which was frustrating but it got better. The leasing office staff was really nice too and so was the maintenance crew. They were always very helpful and prompt. Packages got delivered to the front desk or the Amazon HUB that they installed some time in 2018/ early 2019. Parking garage elevators- It's really slow and I cannot tell you how many times the parking garage elevators broke down the two years I lived there (to a point that I've gotten so good at going straight to the stairs as soon as I saw a sign by the elevator lol). Not a deal breaker for me though! Laundry- new smart laundry machines installed in Mid 2019. Kind of pricey but I'm grateful to not having to collect quarters lol. Amenities- Pool, spa, grill, pool table, and poker table. It's great that there are pool and spa on site and I loved going to the pool and spa in the summer but I feel like they should def be cleaned more often. I've never used the grill by the pool area so I can't really comment on that, but yes I have seen roaches in the yard. Good thing is i've never seen them inside the building so that's def comforting lol. Common areas are first come first serve. There are often holiday events and food trucks coming to the building once a month, which are nice. Friendly neighbors :) read more

The best part of this apartment is the friendly lobby staff -- truly kind and welcoming. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. There is a persistent sewer smell in the unit, and management's solution was simply: "Open the window." They showed no real intention of fixing the issue. Communication with the leasing office is nearly impossible. My friend and I actually joke about betting $300 if they ever reply to an email -- that's how rare it is. The parking gate breaks down every few months, and the street noise is by far the worst I've ever experienced. Soundproofing is basically nonexistent. They also advertise promotions during the lease signing -- be very careful and double-check your bill every month. There were times the promotions weren't applied, and I had to go back and forth to fix it. After submitting my move-out notice and even visiting the leasing office three times, I still got charged rent for the following month. I'm not even surprised anymore after reading all the reviews about how Rebecca never replies. I also saw many reviews regarding security deposit issues -- and honestly, I'm already mentally preparing for that headache. Every bad review you see here? I relate to almost all of them. read more

I parked my car in the guest parking lot temporarily to quickly grab my wallet from my apartment. I was gone for no more than 10 minutes. Since my parking spot is deep in the garage, I thought it would be okay to use the guest parking just this once. When I returned, I found that a heavy object, resembling a dumbbell, had smashed into my car's roof, causing $5,000 in damages. And I couldn't drive my car for almost two months. I can't imagine the kind of reckless person who would throw something so heavy from a height; if it had hit a person instead of my car, it could have caused serious injuries or even death. I reported this incident to the staff at The Met, but they offered no response, didn't investigate, and didn't even put up any notices to warn residents about the danger. This time it was my car, but what if it happens to someone next? The consequences could be fatal. Additionally, I've had ongoing issues with the leasing office regarding my lease renewal. While they are always friendly when I contact them, they never actually resolve any of my issues. They consistently fail to respond to my emails and calls, which has led to prolonged delays in addressing my concerns. As of now, nothing has been resolved. The lack of safety and responsiveness from management is alarming, and I no longer feel safe parking or even walking around the apartment complex. TO THOSE ABOUT TO TOUR - SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE! Lots of security concerns....This property will promise you all these amenities and features the day you're touring, and you will never really see it/see it functional again. They promised me they have 2 hot tubs and that they always work. Both have been out of commission all week during summer season, which is insane. Also all summer, they never had anyone come clean the pool on Sundays, you know, when everyone is off and can enjoy it? They ensure security, that someone is 'always at the front' and it is completely false, yet they still charge you a "code enforcement fee" monthly. I honestly see them there 60% of the time, and NO ONE is ever there on weekends and packages stay out in the open there until Monday. If the office is closed, apparently that also means no security/someone working to accept packages and deliveries. They promise "secured parking" for $150, yet BOTH elevators to our garage have been out all week, and the staircase to our garage is wide open to anyone come in and steal from cars. That is a huge security concern, which they don't seem to care about. Also they will NOT tend to your maintenance requests. I know a tenant who had no AC for 32 days, and they STILL made them pay rent...,,save yourself the trouble and stay away. Don't be fooled by the false promises, and trust the reviews. For what we are paying, and what you market to be, this property seriously needs to step up their game. read more

I have lived here for the better part of a decade and this building has just gone downhill. Everything from maintenance to security in the building. Constant leaks and issues with water. Elevators constantly out of service. Very distributive occupants who use very hard drugs in their unit and smell travels through vent. and have had multiple police visits and arrest. Unresponsive management team that have no sense of urgency when it comes to building safety and security. Multiple times I have had homeless encounters in the parking garage, one went into my physical apartment. Doors are left open and elevator unlocked. Daytime security does a wonderful job as best they could but around that everything is falling apart. Again over a decade in this building and it's outrageous to have a whole fire department come out due to a generator overheating and causing the sprinklers to shoot off for god knows how long. I started calling every number posted, security, maintenance, their office; no one answered until about the 5th time. read more

Do not stay here. This apt building is very old and new manager is a dick. The building work with 3rd party and will tow your car from your own parking stall, charges $500 towing fee without a powing warning! Yet the management is a mess and charge you $310 cleaning fee when you move out even you cleaned your unit very well. On top of that, the building is old and constantly have water pipe issue which leaks all the time, and the entire floor just stink and smell nasty the smell just ain't going away, and let's not talk about the potential health issue that concerns you. DO NOT MOVE TO THE MET! Do NOT MOVE TO THE MET! First of all, I am a resident at the Met for 2 years. The most amazing part is the front desk concierge and the maintenance team. But except for that, everything else has been a nightmare, especially the leasing office! GEORGE!! HE IS THE WORST OF THE WORST OF THE WORST PERSON I EVER HAD AT ANY APARTMENT. HE WOULD GIVE YOU ATTITUDE AND A HARD TIME IN EVERY WAY. YOU WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY PARANOID EVERY TIME YOU HAD ANY INTERACTIONS WITH HIM. It is easy to move in this apartment and if you ever want to leave or make any changes to the leasing agreement. They would try to squeeze any cent in your pocket. Here is what happened to me. I had a roommate for the first year lease contract. Before the lease ended, I chose to stay in this apartment, and my roommate decided to leave. Then, she and I came to George and signed the contract together. And I thought her name was removed from the contract and everything was fine. But still, each time, this George has a crappy attitude. Then, I had a new roommate moving in, she signed the move-in contract, and paid $200 to add her name on the lease which I find normal and reasonable. Like I said, it is easy for people to move in instead of leaving. Then, this morning, my second roommate came downstairs to remove her name from the lease and move out. She met George again. George told her that if you want to leave, everyone in the contract needs to pay $200 and my first roommate's name is still in the contract! WTF! Have you ever heard of every one in the lease to pay $200 when someone wants to return the key and leave? And somehow mysteriously, my first roommate's name is still in the contract. DO NOT MOVE IN THIS TOXIC COMMUNITY WITH THE MOST TOXIC LEASING OFFICE EVER! I wish two year ago, I could make the right decision of not moving in here. Plus, everything breaks all the time!!! The trash Shute, the pipe leaks over my parking spot, and it is still under repair, the AC is so dusty, you would notice a thick layer of dust accumulated pretty fast within 3 days. The food disposal, the evaluator, the pipes, and the shower tub! When I moved in here, the bathtub's finishing surface is coming off, and they told me to move somewhere else for 10 days while I was working from home in the middle of a pandemic! And afterwards, they told me that since I didn't move somewhere else, the time for require has been expired. And I need to pay for the bathtub!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell!!!!!!!!!!! Again, do not move here! Do not move here! Do not give them a chance to squeeze any possible cent in your pocket for a basic living experience. DO NOT MOVE TO THE MET!! I've delivered to this building plenty of times but this is the first time I've felt so belittled. Beware! Marcus the front desk guy is MEAN and RUDE. He needs to learn the basics of customer service. Move here if you don't mind being harassed by this guy. I came to show a friend the Met apartments. They are considering moving to LA and I wanted to help them find a new home. Went to The Met and was greeted by Marcus at the front desk. He immediately told me that The Met is "...not a dog-friendly place". He said service animals are allowed. I explained that my dog was a service animal. Marcus demanded I show him "paperwork or certification". I explained to Marcus that I don't carry her paperwork with me but was going to explain what service she provides. He wouldn't hear it. He replied, I don't need to know what service she provides, I just need to see your "paperwork or certifications". I explained to Marcus that t's illegal to discriminate by demanding paperwork, but he is allowed to ask me about her service. He insisted he was correct. By this time my friend is embarrassed and feeling awkward because if he did decide to move in The Met he already dislikes Marcus and was not looking forward to dealing with him. I want my friend to see the apartment so I concede. But Marcus starts lecturing me on what the residents are required to do in order to have pets at The Met. I explain to Marcus that this visit is about my friend and not me. I'll bow out and leave him to take the tour. No need to keep arguing about it. So I'm literally trying to leave to stand outside and he keeps lecturing me. I wasn't sure if he understood so I had to reiterate..."I'm not moving in. I am just here with my friend. He's moving in. I don't need to hear your resident policy". We have this conversation several more times before I decide to just leave and wait outside. My friend was supposed to get a tour but after all that craziness my friend comes out with a handful of brochures. Turns out they weren't even available for tours. They were too busy. Seriously!!!!!!!! I asked Marcus over and over to get someone for a tour for my friend and he wasted our time lecturing me about my dog which I was taking back outside anyway. I literally kept asking him, are you guys going to take my friend on a tour. He kept saying "Yes, but let me tell you blah blah blah blah". If he would've spent his time doing his job and not lecturing me we would've found out sooner they didn't have the time to give us a tour. My friend was surprised that Marcus wouldn't let up on me...even after I tried to help by offering he talk to my leasing office at my building at Hanover Grand. They have my service dog info on file. I mean it's illegal to demand paperwork, but I figured it showed I was trying to help and be accommodating. But no. Marcus wanted to insist on telling me what I need to to if I lived at The Met. Something is wrong with this guy. He's quoting wrong information and he's rude and doesn't seem like he listens. My friend is was very happy to go check out Olive DTLA afterwards. He appreciated the kind ladies who helped him and the showroom was dog-friendly. As a matter of fact, they say they're going to have a Mutt run (or some kind of doggie space so you don't have to go outside to potty your dogs). The Met is not my home, but it is a place that I looked into in the past and experienced GREAT customer service. Very shady business practices here. The state passed a law prohibiting rent from being raised above 5% for new leases. Shortly after this, the Met gave out new leases in which they raised rent by as much as 13%. When the tenants asked the leasing office to verify this through email (paper trail) the leasing office refused and claimed their lawyers were drawing up contracts based on Ohio law instead of California law. Also, I moved out over 4 weeks ago and Chase in the leasing office told me that I would have receive by security deposit within 3 weeks of moving out. Not only have I not received my deposit back, but I've left multiple messages which have all been ignored. Stay away from this place. These shady business practices are only the tip of the iceberg with this crowd. They also bribe residents to post reviews on yelp. read more

Last night I had to sleep in my car because I had no where else to go and it was cooler than being inside. That and the water turning off like once a month. I love living here! I've on my 2nd year at The Met and it's so convenient to all the DTLA hot spots. There's even a Ralphs just at the end of the block. And a Philz Coffee within a 7 min walk!! Plus I can see LA Live from my balcony. Its truly a great location to live and and the amenities are so nice. They recently added new outdoor furniture near the pool area and it looks great! The gym has machine AND free weights too. They often host events for residents with free food and drink so that's a plus as well. I highly recommend living here or even coming by for a tour! read more

Most buildings in the area for s one bedroom will be around $2600 and up, especially if it has a Washer & Dryer in the apartment. Granted, The Met offers laundry on each floor (I got used to it). Since my review, the management reached out regarding the limited visitor's parking spaces. They initially responded saying that they are aware of this complaint by several other tenants and will work on what they can do about it. Fast forward several weeks, the management came through with their promise and expanded the visitors parking space. I'm very pleased! Must also say that the new management (Brookfield Properties) is just awesome with their quick responses and their efforts to address some of the complaints/requests by the tenants. I have been living here for a year and a half and have had a great experience at the Met. It is conveniently located to my school, incredibly safe, and gives you free coffee Monday-Saturday and breakfast on Monday. I mean, hello, awesome. What I especially love about the Met is a couple members of the staff, Keon and Elvia in particular. They rock my world with their amazing, consistent customer service. Keon is very personable and accommodating and will totally make you feel at home. Elvia takes her job seriously and definitely makes you feel like an important member of the Met. Both of these workers bring a smile to my face whenever I'm in the lobby. They're awesome. read more

Wow, I'm surprised that I am first to review this place. I don't even know where to start since this is the place where I basically started my adult life. It seems fitting that it should be my 100th review. First off, I moved out of The Met in the Spring of 2005 and I'm sure some things have changed since then. For one, I see they have given the place a colorful new paint job- I'm jealous. Second, I got my apartment through FIDM, so this review will be especially helpful for prospective FIDM students trying to figure out where they should live. Trust me, nothing beats being able to walk across the street to class. The area: Downtown LA has become a lot more residential in the recent years. 950 S. Flower is a great spot. It's within walking distance to the Fashion District, FIDM, Macy's Plaza, 7th and Fig, the Staples Center, the subway (yes, LA has an underground line), the rooftop bar of The Standard, and lots of places to eat. I heard there is finally a grocery store in downtown now, which beats only being able to walk to a Rite Aid for food. It also has quick access to many freeways. Safety: Yes, you will see a lot of homeless and one legged pigeons, but I still felt relatively safe. For the most part, the homeless were harmless. Just ignore the crazy ones that talk to themselves and inanimate objects. The worst they will do is shout something obscene your way, which can actually be taken as a compliment if you have the right attitude. For example, I was walking across the street when I caught the eye of a man bathing himself under a water bottle. He yelled, "Damn, that's some good lookin' pussy." Yes, it was a bit brazen, but he just meant that he admired the way I looked. See, harmless. I've walked home from a downtown bar drunk at 2am and been fine, but I wouldn't recommend it. The Met itself has a security guy at the front desk 24 hours a day and special keys to operate the elevator, unlock the lobby doors, and to open the garage gate. The pool/courtyard is not at ground level, so you can feel safe from intruders there too. Noise: This is downtown, don't expect peace and quiet. The week I moved in, I was abruptly awakened by the sound of war. The park across the street (FIDM's park) was turned into a movie set and the sounds that were echoing off the buildings could not be ignored. There are also marathons that cut right by The Met, making it difficult to leave or enter the building. Once a random parade of people in elaborate costumes walked right down Flower Street, chanting all the way. You might even hear an occasional homeless saxophone player on the street corner at night, which is actually pleasant compared to everything else. Your neighbors are likely to be USC and FIDM students, that means you will probably hear the annoying sound of someone's bass as they party into the night. Aesthetics: This depends- I was a FIDM student and the apartment they gave me was nothing like the models. Mine had seen some high turnover. I felt the need to scour the bathroom and scrub the walls, but that shit was lived in dirt. FIDM rotates their apartments and mine was in need of a remodel. Some of my friends lucked out and got the more recently renovated ones. There is no way of knowing what you'll end up with unless you are not going through FIDM for housing. This would probably be true with all the apartment buildings they work with. Other than that, the apartments I saw and lived in were fairly spacious. Typical small kitchen, but the rooms were decent size and the living area separated the two bedrooms in my apartment. Also, there is a quarterly cleaning service for FIDM students. You can even rent fully furnished apartments for out of town guests. The lobby is nice and the outside looks impressive. You'll be happy to pull up to the garage and call The Met home... well, unless you get stuck with one of the older apartments that has been abused by a constant stream of students. Have I given you enough warning about that? You don't want to become a victim of crusty carpet and hard water stains. Laundry: There is a laundry room on every floor. So, you will not get to wash your delicates in private. It's not that big of a deal, but I always feel rushed to hide my underwear under the rest of my clothes before someone walks in as I'm folding a bright red thong. Overall, my experience here was great and I'd recommend The Met to anyone. Just know that it's not perfect and you will be inconvenienced by filming schedules, downtown events and noisy neighbors. But, at least you can sell your parking space for $50 when the Lakers make the playoffs. read more

Super-nice, always clean, they abide by their own rules and it is unlikely that they let anybody in if he's a stranger. My bf was once stopped although he had the key for the elevator because they had never seen him before. Yes, sometimes guest parking suckss but that's the scenario with most condos if you don't have like 4 grand to spend monthly. They fix everything really quickly (I had the worst clog in my kitchen sink and they fixed the day after Christmas immediately.) I feel safe and it is a really quiet part of downtown. They clean the pool everyday and garage parking is a plus. Really close to the Ralph's, Rite Aid and UPS. Plus you are in walking distance from L.A. LIVE and freeways. Pros : - Safe ( concierge at front desk 24/7) - Clean ( cleaning staff are cleaning every day at 5:30 am) - Great insulation system in the building ( i have never heard my upstairs neighbor or next door neighbor ) -Affordable ( The met is slightly cheaper than other buildings in DT) -Location( Great location at the heart of DT ) - Responsive staff at leasing office ( leasing office staff will usually get back to you the same day you contact them ) Cons: - You need to take Two separate elevators to get to your car in the garage but after a while that didn't bother me much -Only one elevator out of two is working from the lobby to the garage and it is very slow . I have lived here for 3 months now and have hated every second of it. From the leasing agent all the way to maintenance, everybody is pretty much incompetent. My leasing agent gave me the HARDEST time about all my paperwork to move in, then I move in and my apartment has all these problems including my bathroom door not shutting more than half way and it's been months now and nobody has come in to fix the door despite my many many emails and phone calls. I haven't been able to have anyone over because nobody can use the bathroom without the door closing and the main manager seems to think it's not a big deal. all the floors smell terrible because the entire building has carpet and they refuse to change the carpet to tile in the hallways and wood floors in the units so if you like terrible smelling apartments, this is your place! the front desk people for the most part have zero manners and no idea what the definition of customer service is. everyone is sarcastic and rude and the least helpful if you have any problems. there are also all kinds of hidden fees that nobody tells you about and they just appear on your monthly bill and you will never get an answer if you try to ask where the fees come from so if you're considering moving into the met, id say run as far and as fast as you possibly can. I'm only living here for a year for work and will move out the second I'm done. nobody should spend their hard earned money on a dump like this and be treated so badly. read more

I've been living here for over 3 years and I like it a lot because I think it's great value for the location you are in and the convenience, everything is walking distance including Ralph's, whole foods, staples center, shopping, restaurants, bars. I really like my balcony view of the dtla skyline. They also have decent amenities which include fitness room, pool/hot tub, movie room, and Starbucks coffee machine that runs 7-10am everyday except sundays...they should just leave it on 24/7 imo lol read more

The location of this place is incredible. You have LA Live, Ralph's, Starbucks, SuperCuts, dry cleaners, etc. all within a block or so. The staff is all very friendly and easy to work with, the units have different pricing levels for different levels of quality inside of the units, and overall the pricing is reasonable. It's also cool that they have local artists display their art in the common areas and rotate these on a monthly basis. One drawback is there is a cockroach problem in the courtyard. Every night when walking through there you will see anywhere from 3-7 large cockroaches. I've informed the staff about this awhile back and they said pest control comes once every 6 weeks, however, they have not been able to get rid of them. TL;DR: The Met is wonderful, and largely because of how great management, security, maintenance, and the other residents are. But it's also a killer location and well kept building, so this is the best place in DTLA in my mind. **Full essay here** I've lived in a studio on the fourth floor at The Met for three years. I am now moving out, but I can wholeheartedly tell you that this is an incredible apartment building and community. If I were to move back to DTLA, I would be back at The Met in a heartbeat. I have a number of friends and colleagues living in other DTLA apartments, and it's clear to me that The Met is the no-question best out there. Heck, I'd love to take The Met to where I'm moving to. While I love my specific unit itself - terrific space, layout, view, neighbors - and the building's best-in-downtown location (seriously; perfect mix of short easy access to everything DTLA but not super busy/crazy area) - what truly sets The Met apart from other buildings is its management - the entire team, including leasing, security, and maintenance are rockstars that invest lots of time, effort, and money into into maintaining the building, developing community, supporting residents, and caring deeply about the place that I and many others are so lucky to call home. Within the last two years, since property manager Emma and her team (Anna-Lisa, George, and Logan) took over (and shortly thereafter, Brookfield purchased the property), this place has really become quite special. As an example, this is a list of some (not nearly all) of the improvements that I can think of over the past two years: renovated both garage and lobby elevators, resurfaced pool/spa area, invested in new furniture throughout lobby, pool, and patio areas, secured alleyway from Hope Street via our fobs, installed new carpeting and tile in elevator lobbies and hallways, installed Amazon lockers, installed Everytable and other fresh/convenient food vending offerings, upgraded most units to nice hardwood-style vinyl flooring, started Food Truck Thursdays, started hosting fun monthly themed community events/celebrations, added USPS package lockers, cleaned up recycling area, doubled the number of guest parking spaces (huge for DTLA!!!), exterior window cleaning, monthly art shows and rotating displays of local artists in the lobby, girl scouts selling cookies, and upgraded laundry machines/systems. That's just a taste, and I am confident The Met is only going to get better and better. I also think the security and maintenance teams do a great job, too. Oscar, who leads security, is an awesome guy who is consistently on the ball with everything. He's been here since I moved in, and generally does a great job with staffing. There can be quite a bit of turnover, but most front desk personnel are very friendly and helpful. It's lovely to have a friendly smile and warm hello when coming back home after a long day at the office. Shout out to Joceline, who is an absolute gem, and a few other long-timers (incl. Richard) who are a great presence. The Met has a well-staffed and very competent maintenance team. Most of my requests are done the same or next day, and it's clear the team works very hard to maintain the building. The building was built in the 1980s, I believe, so it needs more hands-on care than newer buildings. There are definitely shut offs here and there and I had one leaking pipe during my time, but I think that comes with the territory - it's not a new building and issues do come up, but are handled well in my opinion. I find the general resident community to be quite warm as well. I don't know many all that well, but everybody in my hallway is always kind and friendly when we see each other. There's the hellos and short chit-chats. People open doors for each other, and hold elevators. And I haven't had any issues with excessive noise, rudeness, or anything of that like at all. The mix leans younger, but there's definitely older folks and families here. Heck, there's even someone who has lived here 35 years, I think! I've intentionally focused this review on the people at The Met. As I just went through my own apartment search for my new location, I realized I can find out pretty easily about the location, and figure out if I like the physical apartment itself just by touring. But what's really hard to figure out until you live there - is what the people are like. Hopefully what I've written above is helpful in answering that question about The Met. It's truly a wonderful place, and to me, it's my warm home. I'm sad to leave The Met (wish I could move it with me!), but I'm hopeful that the next person who takes my special unit enjoys all this place has to offer, including the kindness and care of its people. read more

I've lived here close to 3 years now and renewed my lease without hesitation for 2014-2015 :) I've really seen such a wave of improvements over the years that I've been here, and am really grateful to have found a place like this to live in, especially in the heart of downtown. In the past year, I can count on one hand the number of times I've put in a maintenance request. And when I do, the job has always been taken care of within a day. The staff are super friendly and understanding - I was having issues with my heating/cooling system, and they called someone in to fix it right away. They also started an internal apartment social network - where residents can post things for sale, get notified about packages, get community updates, etc. It's been such a great communication system and I really love having one place to pay my rent, and hear updates about what's going on in the apartment as well as relevant information in downtown LA. The Met is still putting on really cool events from time to time - the artist spotlight with free wine happens monthly, and it's always so cool to see local artists have their work on display in the lobby. There's usually always celebrations during major holidays too - who doesn't love coming home to free treats? The security is phenomenal - 24/7 front desk service. They're absolutely fantastic people and I love just chatting or saying hello when I come home or leave. It's thanks to them that I feel so safe living at the Met. Location-wise, it really can't be beat. Ralphs is right around the corner. Panini Cafe is a solid brunch/lunch/dinner place. And we're just 2 blocks away from LA Live/Staples Center/Regal Cinema as well as from 7th/Fig with the metro stop and all the new stores (Target, Zara, H&M, Mendocino Farms, etc). And last of all - love the amenities in this apartment. I use the downstairs gym weekly - and they made it a point to bring in more equipment. The 2nd floor lounge area is always fun to chill in. It's a beautiful apartment in downtown LA, all the facilities are nice, the pool, spring hot, liquor vendor and each floor has laundry! The lounge on second floor is pretty as well, even an adorable theater over there! The utility like the hub is convenience! Had to write a review about The Met apartments after reading some other reviews. I have lived her for exactly one year now and contrary to the other gentleman's review, Marcus has been first class the whole time I have been here. Always greets me when I walk through the lobby and has a handle on the safety, security and operations of the building. He runs the show. Since I have been here they have been quick to fulfill any issues that might arise in my apartment, the grounds and even replaced the main cooling tower for the building (not a small project). I live in the smaller building on Hope and dig the fact I have high ceilings and solid walls. I just don't understand why I can't have a bbq on my completely 20 x 15 ft fully cement patio with no roof but I assume that's another ridiculous Los Angeles City code that serves no purpose. I had a small 8 x 8 ft patio with a wood ceiling in Orange County at my last apartment and I could have a bbq there. But I digress. I manage a luxury hotel here in downtown and like to think I know a thing or two about customer service. I think the Met Apartments does a great job of responding to their residents requests, communicating when projects are going to take place and hosting resident events. Not the cheapest apartments in downtown but for the proximity to LA Live, convenience to the freeways and feeling safe and secure, the Met Apartments is worth the money. Firstly, I would like to point out that The Met is an amazing place to live. We lived there for 3 years and recently moved simply because we wanted to buy a house outside of LA. The property is well kept, clean, safe and great value for money. Not to mention the walkability to all down town attractions. The pools have been updated, the art shows in the lobby are so fun and the food trucks that George organizes every week are such a fun addition to the community. Its a shame to see people slamming the property staff when they are all so amazing. Emma does an amazing job at managing the property. Anna-Lisa was super helpful. And George was upbeat, professional and always welcoming. Don't believe what you read from people in other reviews. George's emails are fun and light-hearted and make us feel like we're part of a community that he cares about, not just someone who's renting from him. AND when ever he hosts a resident event, he makes the BEST margaritas. We love the entire team at The met and if we ever decide to move back to LA we will be calling GEORGE because is a great rental agent who actually cares about rules and regulations. These other reviews are probably from people who he told to stop smoking on property, or who he fined for letting their dog poop on the grounds. Maintenance are amazing too, Abraham, hector and Ruben are all so friendly and quick to fix any issue, from a light bulb to the water pressure. Jocelyn at the front desk has become part of our family. So sweet and friendly. the gym is 24 hours which my son loves. The pool is huge, clean and warm. The apartment may not be brand new, but you get what you pay for. rent is cheap here compared to the rest of DTLA but you get an amazing place with fun things to do. Welcome to The Met. You are literally in the center of L.A., location, location, location people! Whether I've got season tickets to the Lakers, whether I'm rocking the box at the Kings game, or maybe going to the many high profile concerts located at Club Nokia or at the Nokia Theater. All the swanky restaurants and nightlife just blocks away. I don't do any of these things, but if I wanted to, I could. Seriously, the staff at The Met keeps us all in the loop with community goings on and building maintenance update emails--they keep you in the know. If you put in a work order you get enthusiastic results. The Met is an efficient urban apartment community. You've got the basic staples like Starbuck/CBTL and Ralph's down on the corner, around the corner the shops at FIG-at-7TH, Target + Smart & Final, Macy*s, etc. If you've come to Los Angeles to move and shake things up in your life, The Met is a great base camp for your dreams realized. If you need a rest from all the city chaos, look no further than the awesome pool and double jacuzzi--sunbathe to your hearts content {SPF People!}. The Met is what you make it.
