Our whole family went with Dr. Votran and each of us had a great and informative eye exam. I actually came here for myself when I was experiencing some eye/vision problems (October 2020) in one eye but could not get a Kaiser appointment soon enough and with the retina scan - determined it was a much more dire issue (and did finally get a Kaiser appt and am currently observing it getting better over the months). Came back to finish my actual eye exam and get myself a new Rx and also then made appts for my kids (ages 11 & 9) and they also were able to squeeze in my husband - who hadn't had a complete eye exam in decades! Dr. Votran and staff are friendly and patient. I would definitely continue to come back here for our annual eye exams. We did have issues with our VSP insurance - which wasn't on them but VSP itself (but it did get resolved!). The first time I came I did just have to pay out of pocket - which in comparison to most other exams, wasn't too bad. read more

This was by far the worst optometry experience I had. I was greeted by the receptionist, and gave him my insurance information. He told me I was covered and would be able to have my exam. I come out of the exam, and he said that I actually was not covered, and I had to pay for everything out of pocket. The next day, my eyes started to get irritated, and I found gunk in my eye as if I had pink eye. I was given a sample pair of astigmatism correcting contact lenses, and I think that might have something to do with the gunk. I will never visit this optometrist again, and if I had known this would be my experience, I would have totally avoided them. What made it worse was that Target would not support me when I reported this incident to them. Do not go here. read more

I'll change my review after I'm able to get my contacts... I had an eye exam and ordered contacts in early March. Due to Coronavirus, they've now closed all operations abruptly and won't answer phone calls. I can't pick up my contacts because they are closed and now I'm stuck without contacts. I've reached out to get my RX so I can order contacts elsewhere but unable to get that. Sooo........ Otherwise I had a very pleasant experience during my eye exam. read more

My sister and I have both been here several times for our eye exams and have always had a very good experience; however, my most recent visit was above and beyond what I expected! I can honestly say that in the 25 years I've been wearing glasses, this is the best I've ever been able to see. Dr. Wen was excellent in being sure my eyes were healthy, and found a perfect prescription. The staff was incredibly patient and helpful in finding the perfect frames, and they were well priced. Really great experience, Doctor Votran was very nice and easy to talk to and made sure to ask if I had any questions throughout the exam. The exam itself was quick thanks to the great tech, but was not rushed at all. We even stopped to talk about Voltron for a few minutes when my Power Rangers ringtone went off. :D The staff was very nice and a pleasure to deal with as well. Dr. Wang was super friendly and more thorough than even my most favorite optometrist at Kaiser. And waaaayyyyy less expensive (i don't have optometry coverage, only ophthalmology). The staff are all amazingly kind and friendly, there's a good selection of frames, and being able to make appointments online is super convenient. Dr. Lee is quick, thorough, and super knowledgable - she had so many interesting insights on different factors that affect your vision and eye health. Who would have thought that Target would be a place to find a good optometry office!? I feel like I hit the mark in finding a good optometry. Dr. Votran has been fantastic the last 2 times I went in for my annual eye exams. Dr. Votran went over all possible symptoms and remedies on any eye trouble. He is a great conversationalist, very knowledgeable, and had introduced me to a traditional Vietnamese drink with egg in it that I'm excited to try out. Steve was very kind and helpful in getting my insurance sorted out after switching to my spouses provider. Studio had a great vibe and was super friendly in explaining all of the benefits allowed to me. I don't know if I can go anywhere else now. They have very stylish name brand frames to choose from, most of the luxury brands, not the cheapie ones you would find in the actual Target store itself. Definitely considering some prescription sunglasses from them. I highly recommend this Optometry if you're searching for one. I have been wearing glasses since I was a kid and always wanted/always put off getting contacts. Touching my eye seemed unconquerable to me. I was told that doctor Votran was the best by several people so I made an appointment and crossed my fingers. From our very first meeting, his kind and calm demeanor put my nerves at ease. He was so thorough and calm. My first attempt at trying the contacts on was discouraging. I felt like I wasn't going to be able to do it. Ever. But Dr. Votran is so committed to talking you through it, showing you how to do it, giving you ideas of how better to attempt it. So kind and so so patient. Summation: I felt more like I was dealing with a bad sales person than a medical professional. I went in to renew my contact prescription. Lam was definitely friendly enough, but his ulterior motives for me to walk out with whatever sort of contacts he was pushing seemed pretty obvious. The first time I went in, he insisted that I do not need contacts with adjustments for astigmatism - which i have been wearing for 4 years. He instead that I go with out. Even though I told him I wasn't happy with my prescription. In a week mentioned two weeks later that I felt I needed to adjust my prescription, and that my prior prescription worked better, and I was getting headaches. He just asked to see my prior prescription, said after 28 your eyes wont change much. Or at least they wont get better. Didn't do any closer examination. Just wrote it up and got me out of there. I felt my the Doctors largest interest was getting me to buy contacts from the brand he was getting kick backs from, and since they didn't make contacts for my astigmatism adjust- forget sound advice- lets get those kick backs $$$$$$$$$$$ GET THA' MONEY BABY read more

I have been to many Optometrists and eye doctors. I have been wearing glasses for 15 years, I got lasik surgery and did not need glassed for several years, but driving at night was becoming a bit difficult recently. After so many years I was in need of an eye doctor again. Dr. Votran was very thorough and patient with explaining everything. At the end of the exam I felt very comfortable. Initially, when I picked up the glass, they were very uncomfortable, I felt immense strain in my eyes. I thought someone screwed up something (typical human behavior)! But I waited a month before leaving a review. My eyes adjusted within a few days. I also got my glasses at the same place. The whole experience was great! The optometrist was great! But what I don't like is I realized after a few weeks that I do not actually have a copy of my prescription nor was it emailed to me. For a $120 eye exam- both of those things should be pretty standard even for a $5 one actually- I called Target- where the Votran eye exam was done and the secretary said it would take a few days to get the prescription to me because they do not have access to it. I don't know what else to call that but stupid. read more

Everything was A+! Dr. Votron was clear, concise, thorogh and pleasant. Very informative. Answered all my questions. The most comforting eye exam I've ever had in my 30+ years of living. A great doctor. I selected his optometry clinic because of the reviews so I felt it was only right that I give a review as well. The front desk associates were very helpful as a team and entertaining as well. Never ever had so much fun picking out glasses. Side note: wish I could've got tinted glasses as a kid because I would have worn them more often. It took me too many years to discover frames that actually compliments my head & face. I've had glasses since I was about 4 years old, and all my years of eye exams, this was by far the best optometrist I've been to. The women up front were so sweet, courteous & professional. There's got to be over 200 frames to choose from (at the time 2.18.17) they were having a 1/2 off package deal. One of the girls picked some coach frames I ended up choosing, $142 off! The exam itself was $60. The optometrist explained every step, was friendly & had us laughing the whole time. I left with all of my questions answered. I'm uninsured, the glasses (with the sale going on) ran about $300. Which I find great, that's Coach frames, prescription lenses, warranty! I highly suggest coming here! read more
