Rebecca Voorthuis was recommended to me when I asked personnel in the Bethesda office for someone really good at fitting contact lens.

Brought my own frames to get lenses replaced. Had no problem with the prices and ordered the lenses. After spending ~$1200 they (manager?) seemed insulted that I asked for a receipt. He said "we've been here for 40 years!" Seriously? So what? After I insisted he begrudgingly printed one for me. When I picked them up they had not applied the edge-polish I had ordered and paid for. The salesperson took them in back and applied a slight buff, not a polish. I asked her to apply a polish and she went back and did it correctly. The thing is my lenses had an AR coating. Applying a polish to an AR lens can damage the coating - it's supposed to be done before the AR is applied - maybe that was the lab's fault. Nevertheless, I spoke with the salesperson about a different pair of lenses I was interested in, one for strictly reading/computer distance. I told her my working distances and knew just what it was I interested in. She proceeded to insist that that was not what I wanted, finally raising her voice and saying "fine, whatever you want!" Lots of glowing reviews on this site and that's fine for them - not for me. And, as background, I was a licensed Optician for 25 years before I stopped practicing to go to law school. I knew what I was talking about. The Rx/lenses were fine, but the attitude was a total turn-off. I'll never go back even though they're right around the corner from me and I'll never recommend them.

Was my go-to place, but this past experience was so horrible, I don't recommend them anymore…read more This year, I could get a new pair of glasses with my insurance, so I selected a pair in Dec with my new adjusted prescription. When they came in, the lenses were made incorrectly and looked all warped. I went back, worked with the technician to figure out the issue but he was stumped on the problem, and submitted a request to rework the lenses. 3 weeks later I came back again, but they were still made wrong. I was told I needed to come back only when Ben, the initial tech, was in. The Tech apologized, looking at my chart of how the issues had developed and said that he would add a 30% discount on my next purchase. I scheduled time with the initial tech for today, but when I arrived, he was out at lunch. The receptionist rudely told me I could wait 45 minutes to see him if I wanted to. I asked to leave a note, just so that he could call me and she said "sure" and never took down any of my info, just decided there were other things on her desk more important. I then asked her for a refund on the glasses, expressing that I had come back multiple times to try to fix this issue but its an hour round trip drive from me and I have to get child care arranged every time to move this along. She gave me a blank stare, when I asked questions about how a refund would be processed, and just said that the technician would call me back to discuss. The technician called back an hour later just to let me know that a refund was on the way. Nothing else, no apologies that they messed up my lenses, or the time wasted trying to fix. I truly am a very patient person and I understand mistakes happen - I just wanted to be treated like a human, and not discarded because I expected my glasses to be functional. I think this Optometrist group NVDO is so large now, they don't really care about any one patient - if you aren't an easy case to process, they'll waste your time and give you a run around until you ask for a refund and leave.

Each visit is filled with warm greetings, excellent customer service and laughter. It's never a dull moment. It's always so pleasant and everyone is super helpful and nice. I have to give a shout out to Mrs. Wendy. She is simply the best. Each visit, Mrs. Wendy has assisted me in selecting glasses and I have loved each pair. I think I look forward to seeing her versus having my actual appointment. The front desk receptionist is also a joy as well. Always so helpful and friendly and is sure to remind you of your next appointment. If you have not visited the Clarendon location, I highly recommend. Simply the best customer service, COVID restrictions in place and you feel comfortable.

I needed new glasses and contacts and I had heard rave reviews. The eye exam was great, the service to find eye glasses was competent. I decided to splurge on two pairs of glasses and a years supply of contacts and paid in full.I was told it may be two weeks to fill the order. I was promptly emailed a receipt for this significant investment in my optical health. After two weeks and not a word, I figured they needed an extra day or so. I lost track of time and with several key word deadlines, my eyes were straining and I had to breakdown and buy a pair air readers at the grocery story and struggle with old contacts. When I called after three weeks, they said they would look into it. They then informed me that they had my glasses, but not my contact information. This was odd because I had already received an email receipt from them. When they realized that they did have my glasses and contacts, there was no apology or effort to correct this error and inconvenience. I expressed my disappointment due to my expectation that I would receive better service, based in their reputation and price point. They said they would have the general manager contact me. No one called, texted, or emailed me. When I was able to make it to Georgetown to pick up my glasses, again, no effort at service recovery was made and I again expressed my disappointment and was again told that I would be contacted by the general manger. It it now a week out and still not a peep. I'm left with some cool glasses but a very jaded view of them. It was clear that their efforts and interest in customer service ends once the payment has been made.

In some ways, viewing a master of craft is like an exquisite wine or cheese to be savored. Warm, comfortable, and confidently putting concerns to rest. What was previously a battery of tests and experiments trying to diagnose "glaucoma" in a teenager was swiftly and adequately dispatched by accurately reading my mind and assuaging my concern from the moment the peeper was peeped. I've had nothing but a pleasant time with both the staff, Dr. Weiss, and the office in general. If you're in Rosslyn (or even want to drive in) it's a rare air were breathing! Tl/Dr: this is a PSA for the parking situation at this location…read more 5 stars for Dr. Lobaugh. -10000 stars for the location and parking garage. I was just getting comfortable riding the high of all green lights and zero traffic when I had the misfortune of entering the garage at 1700 N Moore. At first, it just looks like a normal garage. But as you ascend higher levels looking for parking you realize that's there are only like 10 parking spots per floor. Also notable is the fact that there were no elevators ... so I guess if you're disabled... better luck next time? I think I made it 3 or 4 floors before I decided to turn around (easier said than done because one lane for 2 way traffic) and find parking elsewhere. Luckily, I only encountered one other car coming while I was attempting going. I was going to make my way to the garage across the street but (surprise) the entrance on N Moore is employee only so take the entrance on N Lynn. So... 2 loops later, I made it into garage #2. Parking spaces were labeled weirdly, so I'm not even sure I parked in an allowed spot, but my car was still there after my appointment so there's that. I checked in w the security person at 1700 N Moore about the elevator situation and she said that the elevator was only available at certain floors of the garage. So ........ yeah. Also- Dr. Lobaugh is amazing. I followed her to NOVA optometry from her last practice in Arlington. Couldn't recommend a physician more. She's one of those people who just makes you feel like she gives a duck about you and whatever issue you're having. That's hard to find. She's basically the only person I'd ever come back to this god forsaken location for.
