Great service. She (hate that I didn't get her name) was very patient with me while I took time deciding what I wanted and made calls to complete other orders. Told her she can be creative on my doughnut and I was very pleased. I will be returning. Not only are the doughnuts good but the service was great.
I know, I know... why go to a Voodoo Doughnut location when I live in the Pacific Northwest and with out too much work get to a Voodoo Doughnuts location with relative ease. Why am I going to one in Austin? Well, it's because I am a completeist and I try to go to as many Voodoo Doughnut locations as I can. Austin has two locations but Steve was only willing to tolerate going to one location so we went here. The doughnuts are going to be about the same as any other location however I did come across one that I haven't seen before. I am not sure if it was limited edition or what but I liked it. It was kind of take on a Black Forest Cake but it wasn't cherries that were on top of the doughnut and cream. It was more like blueberries. It was good and I am glad I tried it! I was really hoping to see the Ring of Fire Doughnut as it's my favorite but I didn't see it here. I got more of a powdered doughnut too as I do like their more basic doughnuts too. Steve got something that almost was like a Dubai-esque Chocolate Doughnut. It had pistachios on it and was a chocolate cake. That one was good too! Atmosphere is weird and quirky like all of their locations try to be which I can appreciate. So if you are addicted to Voodoo Doughnuts or have been wanting to try them but don't plan any PNW trips then definitely swing by the Texas locations. More and more locations are popping up all of the time!
This location is awesome! Tons of seating and there is bathrooms for customers! I loved the cute flag and all the decorations. The tables were also very cool and the napkins were custom which is also very fun! The actual donuts are really good too! If you like maple bars then you will love the maple bar here! It is the perfect amount of maple and the actual donut! I do wish they had a water station, but other than that this place is a fun visit!
Voodoo Doughnuts is known for their crazy doughnuts with toppings. They have a lot of options. We got the cinnamon sugar cake and dirt doughnuts. We wanted to get the old dirty bastard, but they were apparently out on a Sunday morning. I thought the cinnamon doughnut would be good, but it was not. It was dry and didn't have a good flavour. The dirt doughnut had generic Oreo pieces on it, and it was okay. I felt like the doughnuts looked better than they tasted, but it was still a good experience to go to their 6th street location. They are open extended hours.
White Cream is a necessity. Unavailable. Ugh. I went way early in the morning. All the donuts were fresh and moist. The Glazed Yeast (The Prime Donut)......... if a donut maker can't do glazed, you might as well forget about the rest. Fantastic. Perfect. The glaze that flakes though moist and a donut that slightly squishes, pops slightly back and has that perfect texture....... And yes Flavor! Perfect Glazed. Well done. A good size and not a weak donut. I did a fancy chocolate cake donut of the Butterfinger kind. A fantastic blend of a good chocolate cake and the touch of peanut from the crisp. A good combo of about 50/50 share of flavor. Focusing on the cake donut resulted in a favorable chocolate cake donut. Freshness is key. Lastly was a buttermilk bar. Good, just good. I know where to get great. You'll have to read my other donut posts to find out where. Just good. Glaze could improve and the complete cool through would be helpful. The dough was alright, not bad. Good ingredients and a nice flavor. On a level of poor, fair, good to great........ Good.

I forgot to check in, but see photo for proof we actually got donuts! We actually didn't finish all of them because we picked them up right before dinner. There was a blueberry donut, a mango filling one, banana, these flavors stood out and was what I remember to be good. I'm usually a plain glazed donut or maybe an old fashioned donut kinda person. But these were pretty good for a change, and the donut itself is also good by itself. Many of the fancy donuts I've had, the donut itself can be dry and texture or taste isn't great on its own. This spot deserves the good ratings.
If you are in the mood for a late night indulgent snack, Voodoo Doughnuts is the place to go. Was hitting Voodoo donuts up after a night of music on dirty 6th, and they offer more than 40 artisan flavor options, including over 10 vegan options. The doughnut shop has a New Orleans French Quarter vibe very dark and mysterious. I had to get the apple fritter fried dough with apple chunks and cinnamon and topped with glaze. It was monstrous and big enough to share. They had a variety of other flavors we tried like blueberry cake with glaze and the sprinkle cake plain cake doughnut with vanilla frosting and colorful sprinkles. Great for a late night sugar rush!
Voodoo Doughnut in Austin is exactly what you'd expect from a place that serves over-the-top, sugar-loaded treats right in the middle of a buzzing nightlife scene. When I visited, the area was absolutely packed with people heading to and from the bars, which made the experience a little chaotic but also kind of entertaining. It is definitely not a quiet stop, but if you can handle the crowd, the doughnuts are totally worth it. The selection is wild in the best way. From cereal-topped creations to classic glazed, everything feels a little extra and a lot of fun. The staff kept things moving quickly despite the crowd, and I walked away with a box full of sweet, overindulgent happiness. If you're downtown and in the mood for something fun and delicious, this place delivers. Just be ready for a bit of a scene.
Spacious late night donut shop on 6th Street, with lots of pink all around. We tried the Dirt and the Homer donuts. It's hard to eat a cold donut and enjoy it. Wish they could warm the donuts up slightly but alas not possible, yet. Staff were kind, served us quickly. Nice place to throw a donut party.

My first time visiting the Austin location, but I've been to the Portland, Oregon spot a few times. The vibe here still has that same fun and quirky energy that makes VooDoo Doughnut stand out. I tried the Pop Tart donut with the strawberry filling and it was really good. The donut was fresh and the strawberry center added the right touch. This place is really good especially if you want a sweet treat after dinner.. So many options to pick from. Great service.. Quick and easy! I will be back.
Very fun & inviting atmosphere. I was on a layover in the city and decided to stop by to taste a few donuts. I got a variety of flavors that the cashier picked out for me. They were very filling and thick donuts. They come cold of course. My favorite would have had to be the blueberry cake.
This was a hidden gem that can be missed on the street. It was great to see security guard by the door and how cleanliness the restaurant was compared to outside. There were so many photo opportunities inside! I love how they display their donuts and making them so appealing! This was Jeff's first time trying a donut here and he loved it! Voodoo donut was right off the main strip where all the bars are and it was open super late so I went in after the club with a friend. The place was pretty crowded for around 11 at night. The donut selection was pretty extensive but definitely a much richer donut than most. One thing I will say is that these bad boys were huge, I could have probably split it into tow normal size donuts. They were a little more expensive but worth it! I had heard mixed reviews about Voodoo and by "mixed", I mean mostly not good. So I've avoided going in LA and in Portland. But, when we sw they were near our hotel in Austin, we stopped by. We went with simple things - a glazed raised donut, bacon maple bars, and a sprinkle cake donut. I must admit that I was surprised. The plain, glazed donut was quite good. And the bacon maple bar was delicious. Both had a nice rise to them and a slightly chewy texture. The glaze was just enough on the glazed one and the icing on the bar was not overwhelming. After I tasted these, I kind of wished that I had tried some of the more elaborate donuts that they offer. The display case had all kinds of combinations. The reason for the three stars is that the restaurant was very dirty and it looked almost abandoned from the outside. It was strange because when you walked inside there was clearly a business there. But it did not look well-kept. This gave me reservations about eating anything from there. Thankfully we didn't get I'll. They would benefit from a significant cleaning. read more
The size of the donuts are so amazing! And considering the sizes of their donuts, the prices are super fair! We ordered a variety of donuts to try and so far my favorite is their special caramel macchiato donut! I also really enjoyed the voodoo doll also... the raspberry filling was good. If I had more time, I would have loved to do a coffee/donut date at the bakery because it was so cute and pink! read more
I'm the center of dirty sixth is the eccentric and bright pink donut shop with all these funky decorated donuts. They have merch like shirts, hats and stickers and a large assortment of donuts! My personal favorite being the voodoo doll donut which is a delicious jelly stuffed donut the size of your hand. They have a maple bacon bar- covered in a decadent maple glaze with a piece of bacon stuck on top. It's the perfect combo of sweet and savory. I haven't branched out from my two staple donuts just yet but I look forward to trying many more! read more
Fun to find a piece of Portland in our sister city keeping it weird in Portland. Old fashioned Donut was dry and stale. Very open inside and plenty of seating. 4 star for ambiance and unique donuts to be expected from voodoo but 2 stars on quality of actual said donut. read more

If you want to find the world's best doughnut spot, this is probably it. I have been to Voodoo's in LA and Portland and this location outshines them both. The line can get long but they move pretty quickly. They had tons of options available even late in the day. Plenty of seating and located right in the downtown area. The aesthetic is so cute and makes the whole experience that much better. I would be so much better if they would just provide some knives and forks, but no cutlery included. read more

The donuts are a must try in the local Austin area! Great space on sixth to decompress and enjoy the company of warm donuts and friend! Will recommend going with families during the day and friends during the night time. It can get a bit crowded and pricey but I think everyone should try it at least once! Cheers! read more

The most diverse collection of vegan donuts I have seen uptill now! The donuts are as big as my face, taste yummy and you can't tell if these are vegan. They are as soft as regular donuts. We got the 1 dozen box of vegan donuts that costed us $28.... Way cheaper than ordering individual donuts. The box had 1 or 2 pieces of each flavor of vegan donuts they have in the store. read more

This place is worth the wait! We saw this and popped in to get a dozen to take home. The line was at the door so I knew it must be good. We got to the front within ten minutes and ordered the Voodoo Dozen. I kindly asked the person if I could replace one donut with another and they were happy to oblige. We just got home and opened our box and it was great! I had the pumpkin cream and my husband had the adorable voodoo donut. We both enjoyed them and will definitely be returning customers. read more

Delicious doughnuts! I got the maple bacon bar and my hubs got the Portland crème doughnut. Both were delicious and fairly priced for the size of doughnut. Truthfully I stopped in for the bathroom since the museum of weird didn't have one for customers. read more

It's rare that I'd be inclined to eat a donut in the middle of the day, but anything goes when you're on vacation. We were strolling the neighborhood, and my friend said we had to stop in. The menu was full of seemingly awesome donuts. They even have a Homer Simpson donut! The donuts were fresh, but I wasn't blown away it or anything. I ordered the "Dirt," which is a raised glazed donut with vanilla frosting and chocolate cream-filled cookies. The topping was a bit too sweet, but overall, it tasted like it was supposed to take like. Oreo cookies on a donut. I wouldn't order it again, but it was mostly enjoyable as a first-timer. My sister had the chocolate coconut cake, which she said was really good. She said she'd actually order it again. It's a devil's food cake donut with chocolate frosting and coconut flakes. Our friend had the raspberry romeo, which he liked as well. That's a raised shell filled with raspberry and topped with glaze. The location was clean, quiet, and comfortable. We were able to grab a table quickly, eat, and be on our way. It was a cool experience, but I'm not sure if I'd be a regular visitor if I lived in Texas. read more

So we went ahead and got 7 custom picks. We chose the mango tango, Memphis mafia, the cannolo, Old dirty bastard, Chuckles, & banana cream. We also got 2 lattes on ice. This is open late. Pretty much same timing as all the other bars on 6th St. They have this giant wall of a lit up American flag that was nice. I ordered a coconut chocolate doughnut & it was pretty good. It was sweet. I don't think I finished the whole thing but it satisfied a minor craving. read more

Delicious! I've heard numerous amounts of great things about Voodoo's so I was very excited to try it. In all honesty, it's really good and priced well, but it's not any better than your local donut shop that's family run. I would come here again if I'm on 6th street and need a late night snack, but I don't think it's the best donut. Went in on a Friday around 11:00PM and there was lots of people but no line. Plenty of seating and nice modern open space. Sweet employees and good music! I recommend coming here at least once :) read more
Was beyond disappointed with my last visit. To start the cashier wasn't helpful and felt bothered when I would ask questions about the donuts then to top it off supposedly all the bathrooms was out of order when clearly I seen an employee walk out of one. Got their raised glazed donut and dirt donut. Raised glaze was good. The dirt was a little sweet for me but if paired with a cup of coffee it would've been great (I didn't have it with coffee) Overall for me it was a four star visit. I've heard the hype, so had to give it a try. Definitely kudos for creativity in flavor combinations and decorating. However, only one really stuck out to me as something fancy. Voodoo Doll: Looks to be the signature doughnut and sure is elaborate. I, personally, love the combination of red berry jelly filling with chocolate frosting. Not sure why this isn't done more often. The pretzel "voodoo pin" is a fun aesthetic touch, but doesn't add much flavor wise since it's one little stick. The voodoo decoration on mine were pretty mediocre at best. But thankfully I cared more about the taste than instagramming it. Old Dirty Bastard: Lots of Oreo bits on a doughnut with some peanut butter. Can get really messy real fast! It seemed like they went a bit overboard with the Oreos since that's all you could taste at times. Rose Pistachio: This was a surprise sleeper hit and probably my favorite. It looks like a cannoli, but is made of a doughnut shell and the filling is more custard like. That filling had a really strong pistachio cream flavor with real pistachios in the mix. And the rose sugar on the outside was so uncommon for a doughnut. Really fun combination! Diablos Rex: A chocolate cake doughnut covered in chocolate frosting with a fun pentagram drawn on top. I love cake doughnuts, so this was an easy win for me. Really hearty and great with coffee. Bacon Maple Bar: A maple doughnut with bacon on top is essentially like portable pancakes. The maple doughnut itself is kinda generic, like what you'd find in many local doughnut shops around the country. But the addition of whole bacon is great, a really nice way to start the day. read more

Aesthetically different, Taste is average I and a group were visiting out of state to check out Austin and I wanted to try out the donuts. As new comers, the location was a questionable area. As for options there is quite a lot to chose from. We had picked a variety of 6 donuts due to our short travel. I really like the looks of some of the donuts especially the "Marshall Mathers" with its colorful M&Ms. I had taste tested majority of them and I was a bit disappointing for it's hype. The donuts crumble when biting into them. In general it has the texture and taste of any o'l donut. But I still enjoyed the experience regardless It's mainly personal preferences. read more

First time ever visiting this well known establishment. Love the chandeliers and variety of doughnuts. Staff is super nice, too! The art is colorful and quirky but, fits the theme perfectly. Lots of room for a doughnut spot. Great location right on historic 6th Street. Cool place to visit in Austin. read more

GET THE CANNOLI AND THE HOMER! THE BEST!!!! Okay, I don't know what the heck people are talking about, but I had the best experience at this donut shop! The service was great, the line moved fast, and my rose pistachio was damn amazing!!! Like, and in I wish I would've bought more than one type of amazing lol My family and I got 5 donuts? I think, and it was 10.00. In my opinion, totally worth it! The blueberry was 10/10, the coconut was 10/10, and the rest were...can you guess it? 10/10! I think my cannoli is seasonal, and it was a 20/10. To be fair, it was freshly made. But, I'm ready to buy 20 and freeze them thangs! LOL. All in all, if you're near Austin/6the street and you can find parking, get you a dozen and enjoy life. You won't regret it! read more

Sweet treat on 6th Street. So you're not 21 yet, but want to hit 6th Street, then Voodoo Doughnut is the place for you. Or maybe you just love quirky-shaped pastries like me. The decor is eclectic and stark. The service was prompt. The doughnuts were fresh, and the coffee acceptable. The prices were reasonable. Lots of people were leaving with big pink boxes filled with an assortment of fun, odd doughnuts. On the whole, it's a fun place to stop and get an afternoon caffeine boost and sugar high. I was surprised to see they only had 3.5 stars... I've been to the Portland location and was so excited when I saw Austin had a location. The place is fun, lots of room to sit. I do agree with some other reviews, it's not the cleanest. We stopped there on a Saturday night at midnight and waited 20-30 minutes. I'd expect to wait no matter what time of the day! They do offer mobile ordering. The girl at the counter did mention they won't Fill the order until 15 mins before pick up time. Something to keep in mind. The doughnuts are outstanding! It's hard choose from all the options! read more

We were walking through the city after a few drinks on Rainey street, and I pass someone carrying a pink box... a few minutes later a pass another pink-box toting gentleman... and then I see a start seeing more and more and Then I read "Voodoo" on the side of one of them -- the light goes on -- there's a voodoo doughnut shop in Austin! So we looked it up and we were a couple blocks away. Needless to say we had to stop in. I got my first voodoo dozen! Highly recommend! Not only are the pastries themselves the perfect execution of what a doughnut should look, feel and taste like, but the flavor and topping combinations were perfectly "out-there." My favorites were the Portland cream, the homer and the Marshal Mathers. Definitely recommend for any doughnut craving! read more

I had a donut craving and saw this place while passing by. I was surprised at how cool the decor inside was and the many flavors of donuts to try. The ones that I got are: Chocolate coconut (3.5/5) Churo (4.5/5) Sprinkles (3/5) Blueberry cake (5/5) Apple fritters (5/5) Dirt (oreo) (5/5) Overall i was amazed by the selection. The staff was very helpful and friendly even after. Asking for more donuts once they had clocked in what i wanted (so many flavors to try). I heard the hype, seen all the food reviews on the Food Network and YouTube, so you know I had to get my hands on a Voodoo Doughnut! Plus it was a sweet treat from doing all the touristy things on 6th Street. When we arrived, the was a line all the way to the entrance! Well, since you're reading this review, that means I waited. Once inside, the wait was not too long (10-15 min) and there is plenty of interesting art and memorabilia on the walls to keep you entertained. We ended up ordering a few things: Couple cups of coffee and an expresso: The coffee is your standard diner fare coffee, but definitely hits the spot on those cold days. Their expresso comes in a tiny cup, as it should, and it's nice and strong! Bacon Maple Bar: Truly a Voodoo Doughnut "classic"! It's salty, sweet and yeasty. What's not to love? Raspberry Romeo: Perfect balance of sweet and tart. A great go-to doughnut if you prefer the stuffed variety. Viscous Hibiscus: This one also has a great balance of sweet and tart with the addition of texture from the addition of sprinkles. You can't go wrong! Guava Colada: One bite immediately transports you to a sunny pristine beach (if your first bite happens to be the side filled with guava). Unfortunately, the guava jelly in our doughnut was only concentrated near the opening. Overall, the flavor was great! We only wished the jelly was distributed more evenly. Ring of Fire: Many people probably look at this doughnut and think that's what their rear pucker will look like afterwards. Have no fear, this doughnut is not as spicy as it looks. It's a delicious cake doughnut with a lingering heat. I would highly recommend Voodoo Doughnuts to anyone that's in the area. read more
Super innovative donuts and interesting flavors. Disclaimer: every donut is SUPER sweet - bring your own water to drink with your donut. Also they run out of most flavors very quickly so lol at the trays in the back to order not the display cases. I got the cake donut thinking it would be less sweet than a regular fried one - which it is, but overall still very sweet. The chocolate coconut cake donut was pretty good. Less dense than a normal donut and good chocolate flavor. The coconut added nice texture and flavor. read more
Waited in long line to get some Voodoo. Didn't knock my socks off, but was decent. There were a handful of donuts we requested but were already out of stock. The decor was great, lots of room to sit and enjoy. We picked out a few donuts for breakfast as well but they didn't sit well overnight. One of the flavors, Old Dirty Bastard was my first choice. They only had it in vegan which the young lady said it was similar to the non-vegan style so I got it. No... just no... Reminded me of when Kenny the Jet had Charles do a blind taste test between regular and vegan donuts. It's not close, it wasn't awful but wasn't for me. read more
