Surprised my out of town bestie by taking her to Voodoo Doughnuts on 6th Street. Such a great vibrant donut spot. Midmorning on a Monday afternoon so plenty of parking. I like my coffee piping hot, we asked for a fresh cup when the first cup was served warm. They immediately took action and made two new freshly brewed coffees, still not HOT. Worth the journey to the dicey section of Old Downtown Austin Old cobblestone streets and charming old buildings are what you'll see before you get to Voodoo Donuts. It's has a beautiful and charming interior, with pink walls, murals and amazing chandlers. It was everything visually, I imagined. Street Parking was challenging, so we decided to park in a garage. There's several garages very close to the donut location. There were a few people who appear to be living on the street, so use caution but as long as you are practicing awareness, they were harmless. I should've only gotten a few donuts but I got a dozen plus a t-shirt. Visiting Voodoo Donut has been on my Foodie Bucket list, so I was in sweet sugar heaven. I really delighted in all the usual and unique shapes and types of donuts, like for example a voodoo doll donut and a Marshall Mathers donut covered in M and Ms. Service was fast and courteous. Ooooohhhh YES!!! I have one of these near my house but have never been. However, while I'm in Austin this week, I decided to give it a try. While my friend said I wouldn't be impressed, as soon as I bit into the "Dirt" I was in love!!! Even though the donuts aren't warm, they are absolutely delicious!! And creamy. And soft. Voodoo Doughnut is located between Brazos St and San Jacinto Blvd on Austin's infamous Sixth street (E 6th St). I stopped into Voodoo Doughnut later in the day and was suprised there was no line. I've been to the Old Town Portland Oregon location before and waited in an extremely long line. Voodoo Doughnut has a lot of themed donuts in addition to regular non-themed donuts. This location has a fairly large interior with a decent amount of tables and seats. There's also a stage close to the front door which is pretty cool. The staff was very nice and friendly and waited patiently as I made a decision on a donut. Parking can be though as it appears there's only metered street parking available. Sixth street wasn't very busy during my visit so I lucked out and got up front parking. read more

I ordered 2 dozen donuts for my office and the online process was so easy! Though you're unable to substitute donuts in the variety dozen, you still get your fair share of flavors. I scheduled my pickup about a week in advance, for a set date and time. Upon walking in, the staff were very friendly and there wasn't a wait at all. These donuts are most definitely different, but they were very good. Very sweet. I was upset that I forgot the rest at my hotel before going to the airport. I will most definitely go back when in Austin. The coffee was super strong even after adding tons of sugars. I just threw the coffee in the trash. It is set up nicely too. read more

I was here on a Sunday evening in July. The heat was still heavy, and the streets were generally empty. Voodoo Doughnut had people inside, but you knew this wasn't the prime season for doughnuts. I had only been to one location before this one and that was at Universal City Walk in Orlando. This one is smaller, but with it being Austin there was a small stage inside and seemingly a lot more seating. There was also a Cock N Balls doughnut on the rotating display. I don't think that would work well with the Universal crowd! Otherwise, service was quick and friendly. Outside might be a bit of warzone but inside is a sugar-coated, sprinkle topped, cream-filled reprieve. One such concoction, and my personal fav, is the Memphis Mafia: a banana and cinnamon fritter topped with peanut butter drizzle and chocolate chips. They have a ton of options, so make sure to take a look at the menu before getting in line to order, since there's no detailed menu up by the registers. I got the old dirty bastard (my fave) and a butterfingering donut. The ODB is a yeast donut covered in chocolate glaze, crushed Oreos and a peanut butter drizzle. So damn good. The butterfingering is a cake donut with chocolate glaze and crushed butterfinger. Also tasty but I'm a bigger fan of the yeast donuts. Everyone enjoyed their donuts and they lasted a few days so there was no rush to finish them at one time (some of them were huge). Definitely stop in if you're nearby and get the ODB! read more

Everything tasted quite good although for some of the doughnuts, the dough tasted almost like a bread consistency and was somewhat moist. The apple fritters are GIGANTIC and took up half the box footprint--no wonder they are $5 each. Voodoo donut was right off the main strip where all the bars are and it was open super late so I went in after the club with a friend. The place was pretty crowded for around 11 at night. The donut selection was pretty extensive but definitely a much richer donut than most. One thing I will say is that these bad boys were huge, I could have probably split it into tow normal size donuts. They were a little more expensive but worth it!
