The low rating you're seeing for this store is mostly due to the pre-remodel version of Von's -- make no mistake, this new Vons is the best grocery store in west Santa Monica! HUGE storefront with a LOT of products (grocery, pharmacy, deli, bakery, dairy, produce), and the staff keeps it very clean. There are lots of self checkout stations, free underground parking for customers, grocery pickup (through the app), and even an in-store Starbucks location. I feel like there are a fair amount of sales each week, and If you have the Vons app, you can save even more by clipping digital coupons. 12/10 -- definitely recommend!! read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience. Tonight Feb 4 Wed 2026 at around 9:00 pm I had a Terrible fall at Vons, as I slipped on what looked like salad dressing all over the floor near the registers. Not only did the manager in glasses show a complete lack of basic compassion and empathy and humanity by caring more about me filling his report so him and the store not get in trouble, than actually seeing if I was hurt, He asked me dismissively if I was ok, didn't even help me up and just wanted me to fill a thing, and when I told him how I felt he got defensive and didn't gave a shit about making it better in any sort of way.. he started to argue with me.. I left the store, crying, upset in pain ( I hurt my knee really bad) and completely not taken care of and paying the little bit of things I had. He didn't even offer any kind of compensation to make up for their negligence, but his attitude made things even worse. I have been a long time Vons customer, specially the Palisades Vons and have always loved the employees and been really sweet to them. I never right bad reviews but I as really angry about this. If anyone out there reads this and cares I am very very upset at how this was handled. I work in customer service and this is not the way to go about it. Please do better! This crap review is based solely on the crap customer service, if you can even call it that. Holy shite, could these clueless employees be any lazier? I think not. So no one's life is in jeopardy here but it's a store - customer service is part of their jobs. WTF else do they do but take care of customers and inventory/stocking? So it goes like this. I had to do a very quick shopping excursion to buy essential items on a baking list. Sounds benign but it had to be done. And I had a time limit b/c I had a more important deadline 30 minutes later. So I found my items except for one less familiar thing - "minute tapioca." Yeah, you heard that right. Evidently it had to be tapioca (not cornstarch or flour) and it had to be "minute." Well, I checked the website before going and they evidently had it. But I didn't make a point of looking at the brand or the aisle b/c I didn't realize there is little to no cell reception in this vault of a store. I had to interrupt a personal conversation the employee was having to ask for help. She acknowledged my presence but didn't seem too keen on helping. She begrudgingly asked for the brand, and I said it's on the website but I can't get online. She scolded me for not using the Von's wifI (didn't know it was an option) so I tried but it wouldn't connect. She asked a kid who worked there if he had internet. He did but he couldn't be bothered to help. I told the lady I was in an extreme rush and I just needed someone to look up the product and tell me where to find it, as I had scoured the aisles for 15 minutes without an employee in sight. She said I'd have to wait for a manager. You have to wait for a manager to look up a f*cking product? JUST LOOK UP THE F*CKING PRODUCT AND POINT. I said I couldn't wait, I'd have to leave. She said ok. What does she care? It's not her pie. She doesn't have a deadline in 30 minutes. She's making money in the moment to hold that dead stare for just one more useless split second. And another (evidently VIP) customer was waiting for her so she left me standing there like a pauper. Now what people don't realize is that customers have lives and all sorts of emergencies and crazy circumstances one could never imagine. Sometimes not, sometimes it's nuts. She doesn't have to understand a thing about all that but FFS, help the customer one iota. She did not. I told my husband he would have to pick up this dreaded, mysterious minute tapioca the next morning, in the midst of all his more important errands, because I'm not going to this Von's again to keep looking - or face zombie lady again. Turns out, I popped into Gelson's this morning and this is how it went: A saw an employee immediately and asked for help. I said "it's not on your website, so I'm pretty sure you don't have it but just checking..." She immediately asked some questions and then asked another employee who virtually took me on the adventure of FINDING this thing they probably didn't have. And alas, it was there, to our dismay. It was more expensive than Von's, but only by a bit. And it occurred to me that even in these crap economic times, I'd rather overpay a little and shop in a place that employs living, breathing, helpful human beings rather than lazy, disengaged, misplaced zombies who can't be bothered with the bare minimum. I realize the latter is vogue, but I'm just not interested. And I will look for the deals in general but this Von's experience was just an all around BAD deal and a time hog and a soul crusher. So save your soul and go to Gelson's. It may cost you an extra 50 cents for your minute tapioca but your faith in humanity will be restored when you discover a beating heart. Oh, in fairness, the guy by the self-check-out at Von's offered me a bag and I told him he was the only helpful person in the whole store. It certainly looks clean - that said in the (very spacious) underground parking lot I saw several rat traps and a rat running around! There is also a CVS pharmacy inside - and a Starbucks. To be honest the only reason I went there was for the Starbucks - if I was rating just on the Starbucks then they would not merit a single star!! You have to go in the store (no drive through) to get your coffee but there is nowhere at all to sit or even stand :(. My latte was sub par to say the least, most of the staff (several were just standing around doing nothing) seemed totally disengaged and bored - can't really blame them - this is the first Starbucks I have visited recently where you can't add a tip on the screen. Well on a glorious day last month, the most beautiful Vons I've ever seen opened across from my house! I could have cried! It is beautiful! Truly amazing!!! The people are so kind and helpful. Everything is bright and pretty and fresh! There's a Starbucks in it with a Mobile Window! I'm telling you, this is BY FAR the nicest grocery store in SaMo! One of the largest Vons stores I've been to, with free parking. Great setup. There's a Starbucks on site, an amazing flower shop, and a bakery with plenty of options, which makes it super convenient. That said, the store felt very unorganized, and many employees seemed disengaged, possibly due to it being the opening week. Hoping things improve as they settle in. read more

Wow, what a renovation! The new Vons looks so slick that it makes you want to go grocery shopping as opposed to making buying groceries feel like an errand. Unlike most other grocery stores in Santa Monica that are city-sized, this Vons is massive. And heads up that the bakery section offers a solid selection too, so it'll be hard to turn away if you're a dessert fan. There were several sample stations when we went from cheese to Wildwonder probiotic full-size cans to soups. Self-checkout was smooth and the staff helped get me a refund when I mistakenly forgot to use my coupons. I'll be back! read more

I love the new Vons. A few obstacles, getting into parking takes some skills as it's narrow. When I come into the store, there is no one at the prepared food counter, same goes for the meat counter, no bell to ring to get service, so I pass it up every time I'm there. It's a shame some of those salads look good. One time someone was a meat counter, he seemed like he was rushing to go into the back. I'll keep coming, but will skip meat counter and prepared food counter from now on. I agree no cell signal and Vons WiFi is dismal. read more

I usually shop at Vons on Wilshire and Euclid. As far as choices go this store on Lincoln is much bigger. It is huge actually and seems to have almost everything though that said... I wanted Campbells brand baked beans and couldn't find any. One person here in the reviews mentions the bags with no handles and my husband said the exact same thing. He absolutely hated tha!. It is very difficult to carry things. He said he wouldn't shop there again because of it! I so disliked the parking and would not shop there because of it. It is narrow and steep and horrible. Just downright dangerous! The checker we had was in a fog and didn't understand about points and digital coupons. Not trained well. Overall my husband and I give this store a poor rating. At least if it were still open until 1 am like the old version of the store was we might frequent it. We work late and nearby. Since it is only open until 11 the other Vons on Wilshire will remain our store to frequent. Glad we tried it though. read more

I love this Von's! The parking is spacious, I get reception underground and can scan my coupons, it's nice and clean and the everyone is so pleasant! A few of my favorites are Yesenia who is always at the self checkout, smiling, asking if you need help and wishing everyone a beautiful day! The deli and hot foods section has Evelyn and Domain. They are both so happy and I love it early in the morning! There are others but these are the names I remember. Great store and awesome people! read more

I am so excited for my neighborhood store to be back. Opening day alone, I went 4 times!!! The store has GREAT selections and amazing prices. So many options for Latino kitchen must haves unlike the other local grocers. I was amazed by how much they had to offer. Employees were beyond helpful. Domain in the Deli/hot food department went above and beyond our expectations. We were looking at the food and he came from behind the counter, welcomed us in, asked if we had any questions and asked about our day. It felt like we were running into family. He was so kind and genuine and I will of course be back for the amazing chicken he had us try. The cake area was amazing and we bought many Dia De Los Muertos cupcakes for the DDLM event at the promenade that were a HUGE hit. Also, download the app! So many good savings and deals. read more

I just went for the first time. Expectations were high for a brand new grocery store in a ridiculously expensive new apt bldg. Sadly, expectations were quickly dashed. First stop - avocado and grape table - gnat infestation - yuck. Oranges rotting. Pears old.... Bought some peppers, green beans and tomatoes only to return the next day bc, as they do, the tops were new but the bottoms of the packages were old. Green beans old. Packaged cheese slices smelled disgusting upon opening. Bought prepared chicken and rice meal by cooked foods counter - disgusting. Hard rice, chicken was not real clearly, etc. I think the lighting is done is some weird way that it's hard to see how the fresh food is til u get it home... It's like being in a stepford store - while clean and new and nice - has that weird vibe and ambiance that fools u into thinking this is a higher caliber store - but nope. THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY I have to say I was disappointed in the new Vons on Broadway in Santa Monica. I had expected a more upscale flagship new store but instead it had concrete floors and has a warehouse type of ambiance. The store is way too big which makes it hard to find anything and the layout of the interior has no rhyme or reason. It seemed like a competition as to whether there were more security guards just hanging around or homeless people panhandling for money as I first attempted to enter the store. Peep the overall rating! Upon having such a negative experience at the store today I honestly wasn't surprised upon visiting the stores yelp page and seeing this place had less than three stars. This is one of the worst supermarkets I have ever visited in the whole of Southern California. Full disclosure ....my review is based on two main experiences. The first thing that biased me against the store actually was something that happened over a decade ago. Ironically Santa Monica is one of the most progressive places overall in certain aspects but I have had three racists encounters over the years that I have spent time in this neighborhood and two of which happened at this store . The first experience is when I tried to seek employment at the store well over a decade ago. Assumptions were made by management about drug use (Which I assumed somehow to do with my race) and I was not allowed to take a drug test on the spot after interviewing. I could have and would have mind you because I didn't even really drink even at that time. My second experience unfortunately happened today. I think I had never really shopped here because of my first experience but also because of the awesome supermarkets that are close by such as the co-op on Broadway. Today I felt compelled to go into the store because I had parked in their parking lot to pick up my sandwiches that I had preordered across the street at a deli. Because I didn't want to feel like a jerk I felt compelled to actually buy some thing since I had parked in their parking lot. I thought I would at least get a bag of chips or maybe a bottle of wine to accompany my sandwiches and fresh cut deli meats and cheeses. My fantasy of a weekend picnic however was quickly blown to pieces as I entered the store and was immediately profiled by one of the store workers. As I walked over to the liquor section of the store I noticed a fellow out of the corner of my eye also heading in that section. As a black person who has been profiled many times unfortunately in my life I know what it looks like . Also as a person who formerly worked at a grocery store for a few years I also know what profiling looks like from the administrative side ( I never did it myself but I had coworkers do it to customers). I tried to take action just to make sure that I was being profiled and I wasn't being sensitive but also maybe to flip the roles around and make the grocery store worker feel awkward. I saw he was literally heading to the aisle directly next to me and so I got the bright idea to profile him back so I went immediately to the aisle that he was on so he could feel what it was like to be watched. I literally was looking at him making himself trying to look busy because there was no excuse for him being over there ( he was not restocking items, nor was he was getting an item for a customer) . Literally the only reason for him being in that section was to watch me to see if I was going to steal something which was quite obvious when I came over to the aisle that he was on and watched him try to look busy. I engaged him in small talk so that he could feel bad which he should've. I also tested him on his knowledge to see if he actually even worked in the department. He of course failed with flying colors. His excuse was that he had only been working there for a few weeks. My questions were very basic mind you .He eventually left the section when I directly engaged with him because perhaps he knew that he was not going to catch me stealing but also at the very least I hope he felt bad for what he did. He probably didn't but this was my hope. Besides the racist experiences I've had.... my one star is also just based on the facilities and upkeep of the store. I don't know why Vons as a corporation neglects this store especially given the expensive real estate around. The place was dim and Dirty. Grocery items were disheveled on shelves and it really just looks like management doesn't give a damn. Honestly wouldn't recommend. Shop at Gelson's or the co-op nearby. read more

This location has self checkout counters! I usually go to the one on Wilshire which has no self checkout and long lines of customers waiting to pay. I stopped here to see if this location offer a larger variety of food and groceries. I was happy to find out that I was right. The parking lot is clean, there is security guard at the door, the store is specious and provide a nicer shopping experience. They have sushi counter that offer variety of fresh sushi, just like in any Ralph's location. 3 out of 5 because this Vons location is better then the one on Wilshire. read more

DRAMA in VONS .....I love the customer service in this location. Gabe was extremely courteous kind and patient. It's unfortunate that a simple incident occurred while he was helping me. Gabe -the store worker- was almost assaulted by a customer who was outraged because he didn't help him 1st in which I was there 1st and he was helping me 1st. This customer most definitely looked like he was impaired on something I'm not sure what. The outraged customer got in his (store workers) face... it was horrible... like... I thought he was about to punch him (Gabe) out because that's how close he got in the store workers face. Well, the Vons worker was extremely patient and very kind but the guy kept yelling at him and harassing him....smh.... Im certainly glad the store worker Gabe kept his calm. This place is such a disgrace and a total shithole. Not sure who does the hiring but maybe it's time to not hire from the bottom of the bucket. The store is dirty, the employees are rude and jive like sloths, everyone moves like they were doing you a for doing you a favor by doing their job.. In general I like this supermarket. The issues I've had so far is that once the pumpkin pies were absolutely drenched in sweat and smelled like body odor as if an employee was literally carrying them in their armpits. Also all the toiletries are locked up in cabinets and they make you ring a bell for service to get some shampoo or whatever. So many times I stood there ringing the ball for over 10min it's such a hassle to buy a freakin stick of deodorant. Now the big one-- yesterday I bought 3 fried chicken strips from the deli area for $4.99. I ate one and got very sick. Later I cut open the other two left and both were totally raw. Literally fried on the outside in batter but pink raw inside. I can't trust getting food from the deli here anymore which is a bummer because I like the chicken salad on croissant sandwich. Also the douche manager at the self checkout wouldn't give me a bag for my groceries until I paid for it. What the hell, do I need to pay for the bread before I take it off the shelf in aisle 2?
