It's time to face reality - this place is horrible. You can 100% blame the failed CEO's of Kroger. Need a shopping cart - good luck finding one. Staff morale used to be great and that is a thing of the past. They can't even wear football jerseys on Sundays like they once did. Of course there is a lot less staff than they once had. The market? Yes. I like this market. There is a bit of a homeless issue, but where isn't there a homeless issue in SM/LA. People are friendly, market is clean and well organized. The cheese guy is super helpful & knowledgeable. The sandwich/deli area is great! Prepped food is excellent. But do be careful at the pharmacy here! The Pharmacist can be very rude and I truly question her abilities. I guess 2 of my medications have a drug interactions. Moderate to severe according to the Internet. No one at the pharmacy informed me. When I asked them about it, they called the pharmacist over. She denied any interaction, but after checking her system she agreed there is an interaction. She minimized the severity of the interaction..."Theres only this interaction. It's not much. I answered her without debating the severity, but insisting that patients should be informed of any and all potential drug interactions by their pharmacy. The law requires it. I am a registered nurse, and although I am not currently practicing I know that pharmacies are still required to inform their patients of any and all drug interactions. She was yelling at me, speaking over me and adding to the scene. Unfortunately this pharmacy is very easy for me. I am a nurse so I now monitor all the drugs my family and I get from this pharmacy now. So if you aren't a medical professional & continue at this pharmacy, I suggest you regularly check all drugs for possible interactions. As for me, I'll check for my own contraindications and avoid any verbal interaction with the very rude woman. I will add the pharmacy assistants are all a great. I feel bad for them having to work so closely with her. read more

I used to love this store. It used to be clean. I am not sure why the manager has two cashiers open at 4:45 in the afternoon. Lines 10 people each . No 10 items or less lane lanes. One time I went to this location to buy Snow Crab at the meat counter; it was about 2-3 pounds left in the display case. The employee in the meat department who was working the counter didn't want to sell it to me because it was all they had left, so he didn't give it to me. I had to drive to another store in a different city to buy what I wanted. It shouldn't have mattered if it was all they had left in the display case; if I asked for it, he should have given it to me. 1. Why are the aisles so narrow? Why did you put multiple mini-stands in every aisle? It's nearly impossible to navigate one cart through the aisle if there is even one other person in the same aisle! 2. Tried to buy a cut up chicken. Every store sells an 8 piece cut up chicken except this one. A butcher offered to cut up a whole chicken. It cost $19! (And he left the giblets in.) Why is everything so hard in this store? 3. There are maybe only two places to put my cart away in the parking lot. So, maybe it's not laziness or self-centeredness that caused all these people to leave their carts all over the parking lot. Ralph's has made it so time-consuming and dangerous to return carts AND to drive around people with carts and dodge the carts all over the lot. 4. The cashiers and baggers at this store are kind and friendly. It's not THEIR fault that the store is an out of control messy maze. 5. I almost never give bad reviews, but this trip to this Ralph's gave me a crappy mood and a headache, which has never happened to me shopping for foods. Do better, Ralph's. I've been to this Ralph's a handful of times and usually things are fine, but recently we have gotten some fruits and vegetables that have not been good despite being a couple days removed from getting them at the store. We got asparagus that we really should not have bought in the first place, but they were having a sale and we didn't notice they had a smell until we were back home. Before that on a different shopping errand my bf got peaches on 2 different occasions and both times half the peaches were moldy on the inside when he cut into them! I suppose to be somewhat fair to Ralph's the peaches do look normal from the outside and smell delicious so I suppose they wouldn't have a way of telling good peaches from the bad ones, but in general it gives me the feeling of not waiting to purchase anymore fruits or veggies from Ralph's. Oh, and not to mention a time we picked up some alcohol and the packaging had mold on 1 side that had been facing the inside of the shelf so it wasn't noticed until later. All these recent back to back instances of mold and bad "fresh" foods doesn't sit well so we will be shopping elsewhere. read more

I have always liked this store. It is located near my old house, and I often stop by on my way to my new home. I often bought flowers here. However, lately I have found that the florist is not there, and other staff cannot bring the right amount of flowers from the warehouse. The florist is often out to lunch at different times... today I just stood there for 25 minutes, only for the florist to tell me that they didn't have 5 bouquets. Usually I love this Ralphs but today I was irritated about my checkout experience. I came with a friend who is hard of hearing, so when the checker, Ashley, asked if they needed a bag, they couldn't hear, so I offered mine. I had a separate order, which was separated by a bar. The checker asked if the other item was mine and I said yes. Since there was a bar between the two orders, she should have thought that there were two orders, but she added it to my friend's order. By the time I found out about it, I said that I was paying for it separately, because my friend was paying for her own order. She didn't want to delete it. I was upset because the checker should have removed it from the order. I will be sure not to get in Ashley's line again read more

I was in this store on July 19th at 3:55pm to buy my groceries and there were only 2 registers open for check out with lines going down the aisles. When I asked about opening another checkout line I was told they couldn't and when I asked to speak with the manager on duty I was told by the self checkout girl that there was no manager on duty. How can a supermarket on a Saturday afternoon have no manager on duty and only two checkout lines open? Avoid this store unless you enjoy waiting in a never ending checkout line and a store operating without any supervision whatsoever. My suggestion is go to Vons and avoid the headaches of this store. read more

Hello, I go for the Pharmacy which is the best. After all those years of standing in line at other drug stores and paying their high prices. Recently I was out of town and had them send my prescriptions to CVS. It cost me $63 more for the same prescriptions. Ralph's uses SingleCare, which saves me a lot of money. At the Ralph's pharmacy at Olympic/Cloverfield: I was given the incorrect medications, and did not notice the small print until I got home. It was the correct med but the wrong dosage. I went back to the pharmacy and they said to call in the next day for the manager. I did so, and the manager argued that they had not made any error and she said that in the past I had picked up the dosage that I just got, so I must have gotten the correct one this time. I said that there have been two prescriptions for the drug in different dosages over past years, and had the pharmacy clerk mentioned that two were showing up on their screen, I would have been made aware that there were two in the system and picked the correct, more recent one. The pharmacy manager said she would call me back and it has been two months and I still have not heard from her. I had to throw the pills out. read more

This branch is a bit small and I did not actually find something I was looking for, yet I am still happy here. The meat department seems smaller than others and not much on sale. Lobster tails are small and they did not bring up my interest. The people are nice. When you ask questions and they are friendly to help you or answer you honestly even giving candid answer like I don't know or I have not seen that here. The security system seems to have some issues. Some people walk out after paying the the alarm is going off like crazy. It seems no one was trying to fix it or figure out what to do. Or simply understaff issue, I am not sure about it. Over all, it is a nice neighborhood Ralph's. Parking is ok, stuff is ok. Location is close to me and I like to visit here again. I try to avoid this particular Ralphs like the plague! The problem with this location is that it attracts a lot of homeless and other suspect characters that live next to or get off the railroad across the street. They have such a high level of theft at this location that they employ aggressive incompetent private security. You know how I know they are incompetent? It's because on multiple occasions they have followed me all over the store while homeless come in with their bikes and shop undisturbed. They don't want to follow them because they will accuse the security of profiling, so instead they bother me. In another incident, I went to the deli counter to get some sliced Boar's Head meats and asked the clerk to taste a slice before ordering. Usually at any other Ralphs this is not a problem, but it was here. The first slice did not taste good I told her. I asked for a taste of another meat and likewise that did not taste good either. So I asked, can I just try one more and that annoyed the clerk so much that she signaled to security to come over. I asked her what the problem was and she said unless you are going to buy, this is what the homeless do--they come here, ask to taste multiple meats and walk out! She gave a taste and that meat was good and I got 1/2 lb. But for the rest of my shopping experience here, security followed me all over the store. And he kept doing this: He would sneak up on me if was looking at dates of yogurts, eggs, reading a label and if I looked over at him, he would run down the aisle away from me as if he was chasing someone else. On another visit here, I pointed to a particular piece of fried chicken that I wanted and the clerk totally ignored me and just picked out the worst piece put in a bag and walked away. I just left it on the side. I really think they put some of their worst employees in this Ralphs. I really do. Avoid this Ralphs like the Plague! You will be happier for it. They have a lot of problem people coming to this store that they cannot turn away and it effects their operation. It's amazing the difference in the pleasant shopping experience you get at the UCLA Ralph's compared to here. read more

Probably the worst employees ever from a Ralph's . From the cashiers to the older store manager that is always there in the mornings, I cannot believe the lack of customer service or simple, basic customer service is not implemented. To start, this is not the first time there has been an issue at this store. I have refrained from writing a YELP review until now However, enough is enough. I contacted the store manager before regarding this issue(i have emails from corporate on the same issue) AND will again tomorrow. Aaron (acting supervisor) was told by her to accommodate my needs. He does not and did not again tonight. Tonight i shopped there and i asked him what his problem was. I don't want to write what he said here on yelp. it was way too rude to repeat. Suffice to say it is absolutely sickening and upsetting. He made a scene. All the other customers of various ethnicities heard him. This is unacceptable. I think if you all understood what he said it you would also like to see him demoted to stock clerk or fired. The last time i had to deal with him i asked him what was the problem. he said "he didn't like how i asked?????" Is there a right or wrong way to ask for something when you say PLEASE? i said "I suppose you don't like how i look either". He said he didn't say that but today he confirmed what i suspected his thoughts were the last time. LAST TIME I left the groceries in the full cart and walked out so they lost a big sale. i don't buy much in that store anymore as a result. tonight he definitely confirmed that " he didnt like the way i looked either" my grand total spending after i left the rest was about 3 dollars. Even that was too much imo. Based on how he treated me and after reading some of the other reviews, i stand by my comments. He knows nothing about me or who i am but makes assumptions about customers that are not part of his job description. Insulting customers (omg it was rush hour) in front of other customers is so NOT COOL. Avoid shopping there at all costs unless you like ABUSE. I have contacted corporate customer service and they will get all the disgusting details. He is obviously unhappy working there and takes it out on CUSTOMERS! I have a lot of patience. it's taken 3 years for me to write this. He needs some attitude adjustment in my opinion but i don't think that will happen. I came in last month on a Saturday morning to get some balloons for my daughters birthday. Unfortunately, the floral person was not there yet and a very kind man from the produce section helped mewith balloons. It wasn't his job, but he did it for me and was so kind throughout. I even got to learn about his daughter who is finishing medical school. I wish I could remember his name, but hopefully this description will help. I spend time picking out deals so I can save money on food, like reduced $2.69 chicken and bogo items. There's usually not a lot of deals on beer, but there was a 5$ "cash back" option on some IPAs that seemed like a good deal. While checking out, I ask the cashier about the 5$ "cash back" deal, as the sticker price on the aisle was confusing and misleading, with no QR code to scan for the coupon (usually there's a QR code that you scan with your Ralph's app to add the coupon to your rewards account). The cashier laughed and said he doesn't know how it works and that I probably won't get the 5$. He processed my transaction and wouldn't tell me how the coupon code worked, so I had to go asking 3 other employees to find out how to use the coupon code. After asking the cashier in question for a third time or so he said "PayPal will pay it out" which is NOT true. I asked this guy for the manager, it turns out he IS the manager. His name was Aron Augustino or something. He treated me like I was wasting his time and not of importance. Never have I been treated like this at any establishment. But I've also worked retail with managers like him so I know they exist. This guy should not be a manager. If you don't know how the deals work, maybe refer customers to an employee that actually does. Like an associate would do. Don't rudely dismiss your customer, refuse to help honor a deal YOU have going on, and then expect them to take a monetary loss due to your ignorance. Most of the other associates didn't know how the sale worked, but referred me to others until someone was able to help me. I have witnessed multiple interactions of her talking down to her fellow workers and even talking about them as they walk away. It's disheartening and uncomfortable to watch. Just went to buy a case of Tea Java and on my way out my cart was locked by the door. I had to go find someone to come over and with transponder type of thing unlock it.
