I just walked in the store to get Cesar dog food , some ice cream , baguette and jam , when I was walking towards the dog food isle , this guy I had never seen before stopped me said he is the director of the store and said you can't shop here with your small dog. Then he went on speaker and said anyone with a dog get out of store. There were other people walking in store with dogs , I was the only one he approached and kicked out of store. I placed the basket I was going to pay for back in store right where he stopped me and walked out without getting any of the items in the basket or in my mind. This is discrimination. And bad for business we live north of Montana close to this store and used to come here daily for our grocery shipping coffee everything. I have spent thousands at this store just in the past few weeks. We won't be stepping back inside this pavilion. We are going to only shop at whole foods. Which is better quality anyways.

I'll just add to the other low reviews here with my experience... Generally the produce and deli area is fine it's convenient and I like to get basic things -- I don't typically do my full grocery shop here. Today I dropped by after the gym to grab a couple of items, and when I came out my car, along with about 10 others, was completely blocked in by a delivery truck that was running (engine on) with no one inside of it. There was not enough space to exit. There was no way for me to go the opposite way. They were cars on all directions. I was completely blocked in. When I went inside to tell someone about it, they were responsive, but as I continued to explain to them that I was on a break and needed to go soon they seem to shrug their shoulders as if it's part of the risk when you come here. When I was taking pictures to document the experience for this review, the truck driver came out and saw what I was doing and started mocking me saying "take all the pictures you want it's not gonna change anything" and I thought to myself well it might change a few peoples opinions about whether or not they'll come here based on this experience... ?!? So to that guy here is my meaningless post and you get your very own pic on this review!

I've shopped at this Pavilion's for over 5 years & would've given 5 stars as everyone has been friendly & I've enjoyed being a customer...until they hired the new manager, Esmeralda Morales. This woman is AWFUL & does not have any customer service skills & doesn't know how to treat people. She is NASTY & RUDE, and actually just MEAN. I've worked across the street for over 5 years & in late 2019, early 2020 I was a victim of a sexual predator who lives nearby, I brought the police report to the then manager Mark (who was very kind & friendly) & explained my situation & asked if I could park in the parking lot, as to not have to pass the house of the offender, and he allowed me to park there. I've parked there for over 5 years. This week on Tuesday I parked as I normally have, went grocery shopping on my lunch break (spent $90) and was bringing my groceries out to my car & my car was gone! I went back in & shockingly & worriedly asked if they towed my car, the manager was called & Esmeralda showed up...I tried explaining the agreement I had with Mark & she started shaking her head "No", stated she's been there a year & never seen me (I had been out of the office the past 2 weeks & it was my 1st day back). She kept saying she's been enforcing & towing cars for a month. I asked her "what are you shaking your head for?" She stated "I'm not having this discussion". I then learned she also towed my colleagues car & when she went to speak with the manager (Esmeralda) she came back & told me "Omg she was SO rude. I told her I can't afford to have my car towed & she said 'I don't care'." My coworker & I were both appalled at how rude she was & how she has no compassion or empathy. We are both good customers too! Then we took an Uber to the tow company & it was $470 each. The worst part is there was a warning on the cars (see photo). Had I got the warning I would have went to talk to her. But this was so unnecessary & it was as if Esmeralda enjoys putting people into awful situations & financial hardships. She doesn't know how to treat people, much less her customers. You would think a manager has better things to do than go out & mark cars & spend pavilions time & money to hurt their customers. Don't shop here until they find a new manager who knows how to treat people with respect. It's clear she was raised in the hood & doesn't deserve to be managing a store with affluent customers.

Seasonal berries with custard. Added fresh flowers. Yay tasty and beautiful. Thanks pavilions

It's so easy to get in and out, and since I temporarily live a 1/2 block away, it's especially convenient for me. This Santa Monica Trader Joe's is easily one of my favorites. The store is clean, well organized, and easy to navigate, with everything you'd expect -- pantry staples, fresh produce, and their famously affordable (and beautiful) flowers. What makes ALL Trader Joe's locations stand out, though, is their staff. The teams are always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and they make every visit pleasant. The only downsides are: 1. The store is underground, there's basically no mobile service inside -- so definitely screenshot your shopping list before you go in. This makes looking up recipes impossible. They need to get store wifi for customers, like Vons. 2. It's a bit smaller than most other TJ's, but it still covers most of what I need. And if they don't have something, there's a newly opened Vons just two blocks up Broadway. Overall, this is a gem of a store in a fantastic location -- truly one of the best grocery spots in Santa Monica.

It's usually been an older crowd that's wanted whatever health products were popular 10-20 years ago. At one point during the late 90's and early 00's, it was tremendously popular with the celebrity class of LA, and it was Erewhon before there was Erewhon. It has since drifted into a more relaxed, slightly frumpier incarnation now in 2026. As you can see from all the 1 and 5 star reviews, it's a place that inspires both stubborn loyalty and intense frustration in equal measure, and I think that about sums up experience for the uninitiated. You'll see that I've split the difference with this 3 star review in an attempt to capture reality. This is far from a perfect grocery store -- the prices are high, a lot of the produce is not looking so good, the milk is always about to expire, the aisles are poorly organized, they're missing lots of things you want. But it's also a real co-op and not a chain, it's possible to eat healthfully from here, and they are extremely responsive to their member's (numerously and frequently delusional and extremely SaMo) requests. The angry reviews about bad service here are overblown; I've been here dozens of times and never had a problem. And as long as it's member-owned, it can always change for the better very quickly, which I've seen happen here before, and may happen again. Personally, my reason for not shopping here is just the poor organization of the store overall, selection of dry goods which are widely second-rate to me, and shabby, soon-to-be-expiring produce and perishables attached to a luxury price. I see no reason to shop here when I have the SaMo farmer's market AND better organized specialty stores like Erehwon or McCall's right near by -- which are, despite what numerous reviews here desperately proclaim, the exact same price point as Co-Opportunity. I hope this clears up why the reviews here are all-over-the-place, it's because the store is too!

It's good -- and at that price point, with all that collagen and "good stuff," I'm hoping I walk out glowing. It tastes like a strawberry milkshake disguised as a wellness drink, and honestly, I get the hype. If it makes me look snatched, even better. Now, the store itself... this place is packed. The parking lot is chaotic with tiny spaces and valet -- very LA energy. Inside, the grocery store is small, compact, and filled with people. No dogs allowed inside but they are allowed on the outdoor patio. They have a clean bathroom in the back for customers. The smoothie/café line was long, but they text you when your drink is ready, which helps. While waiting, I wandered to the hot bar -- also overpriced, but honestly delicious with tons of options. Way better than any Barons, Whole Foods, or Lazy Acres hot bar I've tried. The store carries lots of unique brands and has a huge beauty/skincare/supplement section. There's even someone at the front greeting people and offering samples. Outside, there's a patio for eating. Overall, it's a cool experience -- definitely overpriced, but fun to check out at least once. And it's in a lovely area, which makes the stop even better.

Tehran Market's weekend outdoor barbecue in the parking lot behind the Market, (Sat-Sun, approx…read more 11:30 AM-4:00 PM) is a total neighborhood secret. It's not advertised, yet somehow always packed during prime hours--and for very good reason. I know this sounds a little nutty, but this Mediterranean outdoor parking lot grill is off-the-charts outstanding. It's such a fun, delicious experience--like eating truly fabulous street food. The quality is superb. Food immaculate, always fresh, and superb. Here's how it works: you order inside at the cash register, grab your drinks from the refrigerated section of the small market (the black currant soda is the best ever), and do not skip picking up the pre-made tzatziki yogurt-cucumber container from the dairy section. Add it to your plate for the perfect creamy, smoky, pickley flavor combo. Then you take your prepaid ticket outside and hand it to the grill masters. While you're waiting for your meats to grill, some sweet man, comes around and hands out gently salted, crispy fresh Persian cucumber. Perfect palate cleanser and wake-up). Crunch away fellow eaters. Every plate comes with huge portions of grilled veggies (tomatoes, onions, peppers), pickled everything, fresh herbs, and your kebab choice. Grill options include chicken kebab (light or dark meat), lamb chops, grilled beef, ground beef, and Cornish game hen. You get one skewer of meat per plate--but trust me, that skewer is generous enough to leave you with leftovers for the next day. Price isn't cheap, but it's fair for the quality and portion size. The ambience? Beyond rustic. This is happening in a parking lot behind the market. Plastic tables. Paper towels. No plates. Tiny napkins. The food is so good and the experience so fun that we now bring our own picnic supplies--plates, forks, knives, towels. You sit at communal tables with fellow wish-travelers, surrounded by the smell of smoky grilled meats, and dig in when your paper number is called. (Remember to tip the hard working, expert, grill masters). Pro tip: Ask for the grilled flatbread on top. If it's wrapped around the kebab, it gets soggy. This is not for the faint of heart. It's messy. It's not fancy. It's wildly addictive. Incredible food, great energy, and one of the most fun eating experiences around. We can't seem to stay away on weekends. Bonus: run back into the market afterward for fresh mint and herbs, cold plump dates, and other treats if you have time. Hidden gem. Full stop.

They've got a nice butcher section with fresh meat and seafood. There's a deli case with close to 20 items -- ribs, chicken, lasagna, mac 'n cheese, soup and more, depending on the day. They've got about a dozen salads, including three potato salads, and about as many deli meats for sandwiches. The beef stew was excellent, the lasagna, chili and meatloaf also very good. The sandwiches are solid and very reasonably priced. Two things stand out for me here: their weekend barbecue and the tamales. Someone in their kitchen makes delicious Oaxacan tamales (which are not always available). These tamales are chock full of chicken mole -- perhaps the highest ratio of filling to masa that I've had -- and are neatly wrapped in banana leaves. The burritos are similarly pre-made and stuffed to the gills with the protein of the day. As for the weekend barbecue, every Saturday and Sunday morning they grill select meats from the deli (prime steaks, tri tip, chicken, etc) which you can buy throughout the day at the deli. The Farms also has fresh vegetables, premade salads and all the other items you'd expect from a neighborhood grocery store. Service is super friendly, and there's free parking in back.
