I have never liked this store and usually avoid it due to lack of checkout employees. However, during COVID-19 they have increased the employees slightly so that part is better. But what is Not OK are the cardboard displays in the aisles! They were annoying before, but now they are a HEALTH HAZARD! No social distancing possible! And even worse they run the checkout line back into these aisles. These same aisles with a display box sitting in there, has not only a checkout line, but people trying to grab stuff off shelves too. And of course the placement of display boxes is bunched up at the end of aisle closest to the checkout counters since that is where they usually get noticed more. This location doesn't quite beat the Vons that's on Glendale Ave in Glendale, but hey, I wont complain. They have a Starbucks should you need one, a much nicer one, at least in my opinion than others that I've seen in other supermarkets. This place is a no fail when it comes to having my Bigelow brand teas in stock, and for a great price at that. Spiced Chai Tea, 2 for $4.00. Hells to the yeah! When I have to stock up on that stuff, this is the Vons to go to! I had an excellent experience here the other day. read more

Ugh.. they had everything I wanted to buy but if the customer service sucks it just ruins it.. I had a gift card but since it didn't slide no one there knew how to accept it any other way.. The supervisor didn't know what she was doing and neither did the other one sitting in the office that didn't bother coming out to help. Not my regular vons I shop at and I'm so glad now.. Update: Good news! The District Manager for 21 Von's stores called me on 9/14 and left 2 messages then on 9/15 we finally connected. He said this was an unfortunate incident, that it shouldn't have happened and that it has been "taken Care of". I really appreciate the fact that the District Manager reached out to me and cleared up the issue!! I called yesterday afternoon (09/12/21) and I spoke to a Vincent to ask if there were any Heineken, Stella Artois or Modelo "warm beers" as my coupon called for a case of one of these 3 beers. First he said there was perhaps in the back room, then he started hemming and hawing and said that maybe there wasn't in the back room and then started to getting an attitude with me, I then asked him if there were any of those 3 cases of beers sitting in the aisle and he said he didn't think so. I finally asked "well is there or isn't there?" and he said NO, all the beers on the shelves. I then called Von's in Tujunga about any of the 3 cases of the said beers, warm, Raz put me on hold and came back and said yes, in the storage room we have a lot of Modelo. Then on a hunch I drove to the La Crescenta Von's (I live in La Crescenta) and in the aisle were 5 cases of Stella Artois! I then asked to speak to Vincent who was in his office. He came out and I said to him that I called and I spoke to you about 20 minutes ago and you said there was no warm Heiniken, Modelo or Stella Artois in the aisle and that all the beers were on the shelves, Then in attempt to cover his $#@, Vincent said to me that I never asked about Stella Artois!!!!! To me this was tantamount to calling me a liar. I then lit into him (quietly) and he finally said he was sorry. I then replied, yes you are a real sorry person working for Von's. I then went to the other Von's in Tujunga and bought my Modelo there! read more

Wow. I left the store furious, thinking I just got a bad cashier, but I see that this is the general response to shopping at this atrocity of a store. Absolute worst service I've ever had. The cashier dawdled, gabbed, took her time with everything, and when it was my turn she started talking to the guy behind me without even acknowledging me. This Vons is 2 blocks away from my house and that is the only reason I come here. The supervisors, Misty and Amber are very rude to the other employees, almost demeaning. Misty lacks serious hygiene. She smells and looks like someone who has been hungover for the whole weekend and has barely woken up. The food is overpriced. Shelves constantly stocked with expired food. We've been going to this market for years. It has always been a problem, but it seems to be getting worse and worse. The employees really seem to give zero damns about pulling expired products-including dairy foods--off the shelf. Do yourself a favor and check those dates! See that pic I added? LA CRESCENTA VONS MUST TREAT THEIR STAFF POORLY How do I know this? Let me count the ways: 1 Because every time I get in line, that's all the cashiers are talking about. How poorly they are being treated. (Sorry to hear this guys but my ice cream is melting in the middle of January so can we speed this up a bit?) 2 Because every time they ask if I found everything okay and the answer is no (even though I fill out product requests like crazy) they blame management, followed by going on about how they never listen. (So, now I think my cheese just ripened past what I am comfortable eating so can you please just hurry it up?) 3 Because it takes longer for some sluggish little bag girl with a b****y attitude to drop their important gossip fest and come and do their job then it takes for me to get two weeks of groceries. (And while you're at it, could you not put peel-off-top yogurt in with my canned goods - I want to eat the yogurt, not scrape it off the soup cans) - This is not the behavior of a happy employee with a bright and shiny future. Check expiration dates! Prepare to wait in line... Like many Vons stores this one is systematically understaffed and they sell dairy and packaged meat beyond their dates. You have to check everything you buy. I only shop here because they carry some items I can't get elsewhere. It would be nice if grocery store chains in Los Angeles had more variety. Instead I have to shop here and Ralph's and Target just to get everything. When I visit family in Florida or Texas, the chains there have more variety of everything. More produce, more varieties of packaged goods, more brands. 5 star bakery though. They have good recipes and quality made to order cakes. read more

This location is open during their renovation and everything is dusty!!!! Why 2 stars and not 1 star? They have freezer stuff for 50% off and some good sales for canned goods. Besides those 2 perks, everything is dusty! They should not be open during a messy renovation. read more

I had to write this review after having had the "pleasure" of experiencing the clerk "Nicki" today while in this Vons. I was inspired especially by reading another customer's review about her bad experience with this clerk. Today, while I was in her line, Nicki found it necessary to get into a long conversation with the previous customer about the current game "Monopoly". She even took out her personal cell phone to share some gaming tips with her. People are waiting in line, why is she yammering on about a game? Bad customer service. I had been in the store a couple of days before and had to leave before finishing my shopping as the electricity went out. By the time it went back on (about 15 minutes later), the check out area was packed. I asked another clerk if they were bringing in more checkers. She said the registers were still down and they had no more checkers. The registers were still down, even though the power was back on. Apparently, the computerized registers take a while to boot back up after losing power. Sadly, I couldn't wait anymore and the crowd was getting larger waiting to check out. I left without my groceries. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of store management was responsible for this debacle. Are there not back up power supplies available for the registers during a power outage to prevent this kind of thing from happening? Power outages are common occurrences. Has no one in management ever thought of this? There was no manager on site. Doesn't the corporate Vons management think about this? Instead, you keep customers jammed in the check out area, for I don't know how long, as I left the store and my groceries behind. read more

I am updating my review based on a wonderful experience at their pharmacy on Sunday morning 1/4/15. I had my daughter's prescription to fill and 4 other pharmacies had later opening times. I have no idea why a pharmacy is not open rather early every day for many sick people need their meds and my daughter had waited 4 hours at urgent care the night before and just came home to collapse in bed. I sat a while with a coffee and when Vicky the pharmacy manager opened, she helped solve a doctor's signature mystery and some other issues which another person may not have felt worth attacking on behalf of a customer. Vicky had my prescription done lickety-split and I really liked that she has a can-do and will-do attitude. Very nicely done. read more

This is about Vons delivery service not the store itself and I only give it one star only because they did not notify me until last moment at 8:59 pm of the delivery just before they show up at a little past 9 pm and was just about go to sleep thinking they made a mistake on the delivery and I would deal with it in the morning I place my order in the earlier in the morning and it would been nice if I received my order by 5 pm but no phone call or message and I ordered produce that was not fresh bananas had to eat right away before they rot the peaches were dry and pithy had to throw them away if I was able could have pick out fresh ones I just came home from the hospital from surgery and needed groceries I will not repeat this mistake I will find another company to shop for groceries read more

But my family & i just moved in to La Crescenta & did our first family grocery run. At the checkout we were asked if we had coupons. I replied "no." I used to not like this Von's on account of a particular experience I had with one of the older cashier ladies, but I've made sure to never go back through her line since, and have enjoyed shopping here. They have pretty much everything you could need...including lots of organic produce. The pricies are in line with what I'd consider "the norm", and the service (with exception to the aforementioned) is wonderful. read more

While grocery shopping consists of looking at items and comparing prices and you can choose to buy or not to buy it's gets real tricky in the produce department. Sure you can tell if some items are fresh but things like avocados, mangoes, watermelons, egg plant and others you are guessing at best. It's so unreliable there that I will only buy one of them even if I wanted more as we're batting about .500 if they are good. Today my wife made Thai sticky rice for the mango we bought only for it to be bad. For $2 it's a hassle to drive to get another one and then I'd have to cut it open in the store to check it. To be honest I've had much better luck with street vendors selling fruit. Also the guy running the produce department I'd classify as 'surly' and the least helpful person in the store. No problems in deli, pharmacy, meat and bakery. If you are into buying produce suggest Sunland Produce, worth the drive. read more

Probably the best Vons I've ever been too. Clean, wonderful service, (they obviously have everything you'd find in a Vons), and it's convenient for me (thankfully it's so nice). This Vons reminds me of a nice Pavillions. However, if you want to pay significantly higher prices for your groceries, this is the place to do so. I was trying to find some edamame. They did have it in their produce section, but their fresh edamame looked quite disgusting as it was expired. Also, they did not have it in their frozen section as a whole pod. I know that Trader Joe's and Fresh and Easy at least has that item. read more

I have been a long time loyal customer of 29 years at Vons in La Crescenta. After Wednesday and what I went through with the bakery dept. I vow to never step foot in a Vons store ever again! I ordered a 70th anniversary cake in person a week prior and went over specific details with Briana. She assured me the cake would be ready the day before I was going to pick it up. On the day of, I thought to go into the store to make sure it all looked good before picking it up at 4:30 PM. When I arrived, the cake decorator was there working on my cake which I thought odd because I was told it was going to done the day before. I went to take a look at it and it looked nothing like what Briana and I worked out in detail. She spoke to one of the managers and came back to me saying she will give it to me for free. I declined. This cake was for my parents 70th wedding anniversary. Another manager name Jeff was hanging signs near by he came over to assist the situation. Knowing I was terribly upset he asked what I wanted him to do. I said please have someone make me a cake that I ordered. I told them I would return to the store at 4:30 PM. When I came back to the store Kathryn now was working on my cake. Apparently now their printer was acting up and the photo of my parents on their wedding day came out grainy and with green stripes. There was no way that could be portrayed professionally on a cake. So Kathryn went back to the original cake and started adding more buttercream frosting to the whipped cream frosting so it looked like there was 4 inches of frosting around the cake. At this point it was 5:30 PM I was still standing in the bakery an hour later trying to help the cake decorator and manager troubleshoot the problem. If I could have done this myself, clearly I would. Instead, I had my trust and faith in a store that I thought could do the job. I walked out with no cake and for the next 2.5 hours in route to my destination I stopped at every market and bakery to see if they could accommodate a cake to serve 40 people. I came up short and very upset. Yes, it was unfortunate that the work I put in to having the perfect cake for my parents 70th anniversary. At least I'm blessed that I have my mom and dad. I finally arrived to the party late of course and with no cake. Fortunately for my guests the restaurant was able to provide a delicious dessert for all. Since I must give Vons a star to review Vons I have to say that Vons delivery service is the worst. I am handicapped and a senior citizen and use a walker to get around but Vons delivery personnel refuse to help me with my groceries. All I ask is for help with putting my groceries in side my doorway. I wear a mask and disinfect my house daily. I have requested a third party to deliver my groceries but Vons will not help me. Vons is not working with me. Please use another grocery store if you can. read more

This a review of Vons Delivery and not the store itself. I placed an order for the delivery of groceries to my home and it never arrived. I never received a phone call, update, or anything. No one would answer the Customer Service line. I stopped by the Vons store in La Crescenta and talked to the Manager and a young man in charge of deliveries for the area. They were very apologetic, ran down the issue (their server was offline for several of their orders) and issued me a $20 gift card. So the store people were great, but I would recommend NOT using their delivery service unless my personal experience was just a one-shot fail. read more
