What can I say that has not already been said. This is a horrible grocery store. Produce is old, product organization makes no sense, and check out lines are very long. I think the staff is trying to be helpful, but they are always so understaffed it is crazy. The problem is that they have little competition so management does not care....just over work the staff and customers will still show up. I tried to use the dry cleaners in the store. They have only one employee in this area who must handle many things including all customer service, cigs, etc. The employee kept saying she would get to me asap, but I eventually just walked out and went elsewhere. Well I'm really surprised with the ratings. Because I've never found this store to be underrated! I don't shop here often but obviously when I do it's lovely. I hate Starbucks but I love getting my matcha latte from Will, he makes me come back! He's extremely friendly and patient. He deserves a raise if he's been working there for three years! Also, Dale K , I believe is a supervisor, checked my groceries out at the check stand , wow what a vibrant soul, a warm unforgettable smile! Every time I shop here, I swear I'll never shop here again. They have a monopoly on grocery sales because the big Albertsons/Haggens closed. Ther ARE other stores and I frequent them often - but this is big store with more variety. The checkout lines are stupidly cramped. It's nearly impossible to navigate the front of the store. Where do I even start with this place? The pharmacy is rude and condescending. Don't even think about needing your medications in a hurry or asking for it. The other day I came around lunch time needing my migraine medication and the assistant said "it's going to be 2 hours the pharmacist is going to lunch." First of all who takes a 2 hour lunch? I then again asked her politely if there's anyway he could fill it really quick because I'm in a lot of pain. If I wait two hours I'm going to be in a lot worse shape. Anybody that has suffered from migraines knows two hours can be an eternity. She scoughed back "I just told you he's going to lunch! It'll be two hours!" And then snatched the prescription from my hand. What a jerk! I'm so glad his two hour lunch is more important than someone else's health. Just goes to show they aren't in it for doing any good. They are in it for the pay! Let's see then today I had the same problem. Needed my migraine meds before I went to work and he laughed at me and told me it'd be 30 minutes. I don't see why it's funny that I need my meds quickly and needto be out of pain. I'll never be back to this place! The grocery is just as bad. Everyone else's review is right. High prices. My visit was not pleasant. Yesterday I had made a purchase. Here in town to ride ATV's. As we were leaving the store three employees were looking at my boyfriend as if he has stolen something. He had baby wipes in the back of his pocket. It was a tall chubby guy who works in the customer service, a blonde older lady at the self check stand, black hair older lady in the florist dept. We were sitting in our car and the tall chubby guy came out Von's to write down our license plate. We asked him if he needed help with something and he said no. We went back in the store to speak to the manager, Gary. Explained to him what had happened. He was very apologetic. If you're going to accuse of someone stealing you say something right then and there. You don't go outside and act as if you are security. The tall chubby guy could of put himself in danger because now a days people carry guns. I just couldn't believe that has happened. I love a store that has friendly and helpful staff, especially when on vacation! Jennifer in the bakery department rocks! She helped us with some baked goods by dividing up some pre-packaged cookies and blending them into a variety pack. She didn't have to do it, but she did with a friendly smile and an awesome attitude. Thank you Jennifer! This Von's store has everything you could need and then some. Since they are the southern California equivalent to our northern California Safeway, we get the same deals and prices just by using our Safeway Card. Better than most Safeways in the Bay Area! This place is huge, clean and has a bank, hair salon, Jamba Juice and Starbucks all in this one location. They were well-stocked and had friendly employees. The worst grocery store ever. Every part of the store is crowded. The entrance is hard to get in and out of. It almost impossible to get through the aisle around the cash registers. The produce is poor sometimes rotten. The meat is hit and miss mostly miss. And everything else is so mixed up it is hard to find. Either Von's is trying to confuse everyone or they are retarded nothing is where it should be. Checking out is a nightmare. After waiting in line for ever and trying to stay out of everyone else way you have to deal with the baggers. They seem to get an attitude when you complain about them putting raw meat on top of the produce. I shop at vons every two weeks and it cost a fortune. Their prices are high comparing them to the rest of grocery stores in area since I do compare prices. When they advertise a sale - 1/4 of sales the shelves are empty. I have seen customer use their arm on the soup aisle and throw 8 containers of beef, chicken broth into cart. I needed beef broth so I grabbed 2 from the shelves and the man said he was not done. I took them anyway from shelve. Every time I shop the paper towels, toilet paper, color gel are empty. The staff explain that they just filled the shelves. The store has no limits for item such as these that I mention. After I exhausted myself trying to find spices , I ask staff about spices they tell me the aisle # and disappear. When I ask again they repeat the same mantra. Then I have to ask manager and they found the item in another display area. Suggestion customer service courtesy - it will take 2 minutes is take customer where the items are - especially if they customer is an elderly person. The prices have gone up almost Double since covid19 and that is disgraceful- is not customers fault and lots of people are unemployed or on Tight budget especially Elderly. We are shopping at other locals stores since I can't see paying 198.00 for two bags of grocery without buying meat, booze, just every day grocery item. Aldi really looks awesome right now and arroyo grande grocery outlet. AND I am a regular shopper at Vons for those that may leave smarky remarks. read more

I went to Vons tonight and as I was walking up to my car this nice friendly young man asked if I needed him to put my grocery's in my car I said if you don't mind I would appreciate if you could put my Diet Coke in my back seat. He was so polite and he helped me with all my groceries he mentioned that when he's gathering the carts he always asks people if they need help. I forgot his name but he was about 16 to 20 years of age about 5'9" skater type hair cut and it was dark brown and he was slim. I have shopped at this store off and on for several years and have yet to come away with a good experience. Starting with organization of the products. If you want to call it that. I more appropriately call it un-organization. They have the departments figured out but within departments it falls apart. The last time I was there I was looking for beans. Just regular BEANS. I looked high and low and could not find beans. So I asked one of the employees. OMG. I even apologized for disturbing her. She pointed and said "over there". So, over there I went and NO BEANS. I returned to the same employee. Big mistake, if looks could kill, I would be a frog! After the glare, and without a word she arose, walked "over there" and said "well, they were here". She finally found them and said "by the tuna?" and walked away. I can say it got no worse. During that trip, I was asked by two other shoppers where something was. Each Dept. was the same. In produce I encountered an employee tossing tomatoes into a pile. They bruise!!! At checkout, oh yea, same thing. No smile, no words at all and 1 bagger for all of the stations. When she finely got to us, I asked her if she was the only bagger. She said there were 3. One just went to lunch, another was "probably just wandering around" but SHE SMILED. the only one I saw. I've got mixed feelings about this place because there are so few options in this area for one stop shopping. The prices are ridiculous. They're charging nearly double in price for most items than at, let's say, Target. The shelves are always stocked. There is always maybe two checkout counters open and VERY LONG lines. There is no "bulk" section for nuts, grains and candies so you just have to buy a tiny container of trailmix for 16 bucks if you have to get it there. read more
